The biggest challenges for Islamic finance in West Africa include raising awareness, educating the public, and developing a financial infrastructure backed by appropriate regulation of the sector.

Aishatu Usman Muhammad is a scholar and lecturer at Gombe State University. She has significantly contributed to Islamic Finance, Entrepreneurship, Corporate Governance, Accounting and Finance, and Green Finance. She has published several research papers on various topics, including the challenges facing the acceptability of Islamic banking in Nigeria, the role of Muslim women in entrepreneurship in Nigeria, and the adoption of Islamic ethics in Islamic finance institutions.
In addition to her academic work, Aishatu actively advocates for Women Empowerment in Nigeria. She has collaborated with several non-governmental organizations on projects promoting women economic empowerment.
Aishatu’s work reflects her commitment to advancing knowledge in her fields of expertise and contributing to women’s economic empowerment in Nigeria. She continues to influence these areas through her research and advocacy efforts.

The program contributes to economic empowerment by producing skilled individuals, creating income sources, reducing joblessness, and offering affordable product options. We are confident that participants will grow with an entrepreneurial mindset. To ensure sustainability, we maintain records and plan annual review sessions for progress showcases and follow-up training, subject to resource availability.

…a waqf ambassador of our foundation, was an undergraduate student. She has been volunteering to train dozens of ladies in cosmetology. Support can be provided through in-cash or in-kind donations, the creation of moneygenerating waqfs, the contribution of funds for a waqf pool, the provision of training tools, sharing our story with prospective donors, and offering expertise to upgrade skills. External support is crucial for building a permanent Women Entrepreneurship Training Center and expanding the range of skills taught.
