etra Kogelnig, Morzé ist der Mädchenname ihrer Mutter, wuchs streng erzogen in einer Großfamilie mit sechs Geschwistern in Ernsdorf bei Staatz auf. Die schönen Künste spielten dennoch eine große Rolle: wobei bildende Kunst durch den Vater, einen Bildhauer, viel präsenter war als das Theater. Aber auch Literatur und Musik waren allgegenwärtig. Mit 15 Jahren floh sie regelrecht aus dem für sie zu engen „Familienkäfig“ und fand Unterschlupf bei der Morzé-Großmutter in Kärnten. Bald brach sie alle Schulen ab und verdiente sich ihren Unterhalt für das Schauspiel-Studium mit Putzen und Kellnern. Beim Versuch, irgendwie auf die Bühne zu kommen, landete sie als Statistin beim Film. Eine erste Rolle bekam sie 1985 im Teenie-Erotik-Streifen „Eis am Stiel 6 - Ferienliebe“ in Israel. Ihr allererster richtiger Dreh war dann „Das Dorf an der Grenze“ von Fritz Lehner. „Dabei bemerkte ich, wie sehr mir das Freude bereitete.“ Es fügte sich alles und nach Abschluss ihrer Schauspielausbildung folgten Stationen am Schauspielhaus Graz, am Volkstheater Wien, am Theater in der Josefstadt, bei den Salzburger Festspielen, den Festspielen in Reichenau und schließlich am Burgtheater. 2002 wurde sie ins Ensemble aufgenommen. Ausgeprägt ist auch die Fernsehpräsenz der Künstlerin. Sie brillierte in vielen der wichtigsten Österreichischen Filme wie beispiels-

weise im Bergdrama "Nordwand", im Pilgerfilm "Lourdes" sowie in Ulrich Seidls „Import Export“ und wurde als Kult-Kolumnistin "Polly Adler" in der erfolgreichen TV-Komödie "Polly Adler - Eine Frau sieht rosa" der breiten Masse bekannt. 2004 wurde Petra Morzé für den Nestroy-Theaterpreis als „Beste Schauspielerin“ für die Rolle der Genia in „Das weite Land“ nominiert, 2006 und 2009 folgten Romy-Nominierungen. Sohn Simon, aus der Beziehung mit Schauspieler Stefan Matousch, scheint ihr besonderes Talent geerbt zu haben, ist bereits in ihre Fußstapfen getreten und spielte sich in „Der Trafikant“ ins Gedächtnis der Seher. Mit den Pandemie-Beschränkungen konnte die Schauspielerin gut umgehen: Den zweiten Corona Sommer verbrachte sie unter anderem mit Lesungen im schwimmenden Salon im Thermalbad Vöslau, der Herbst bringt „Nymphen in Not“ mit Angelika Hager, Maria Happel und Ulrike Beimpold im Themenkreis von Selbstoptimierung, Botox und Power-Aging. Ihr Bezug zu Kärnten kommt jedes Jahr besonders am 10.Oktober zum Ausdruck: Sie ist nämlich am Kärntner Landesfeiertag in Klagenfurt geboren und dachte an ihrem Geburtstag als Kind immer, dass die Fahnen überall ihretwegen gehisst wurden. n

With freshly arranged folk tunes from the Alpe-Adria region, the musical ambassadors of the Carinthian Summer Music Festival are constantly turning up in new, stimulating, compelling, and familiar venues: in galleries, at farmers' markets, and even on one of the ÖBB's (Austrian Federal Railway) commuter trains.

etra Kogelnig (Morzé is her mother’s maiden name) had a strict upbringing in a large family with six siblings in Ernsdorf near Staatz. The fine arts nonetheless played a significant role growing up, with visual art having a much greater presence than theater, thanks to her father, a sculptor. But literature and music were also ubiquitous in the household. At the age of 15, Morzé virtually fled from the ”family cage,” which proved to be too confining for her, and found shelter with her Morzé grandmother in Carinthia. Before long, she dropped out of all schooling and began earning a living and saving for her acting studies by cleaning and waitressing. In an effort to get on stage somehow, she ended up as an extra in film. She scored her first role in the 1985 teen erotica flick Popsicle 6 – Holiday Love in Israel. Her very first real shoot followed in the form of the mini-series Das Dorf an der Grenze (The Village on the Border) by Fritz Lehner. “In the process of making it, I realized just how much I enjoyed it.” Everything fell into place and after she had finished her acting studies, she went on to perform at the Schauspielhaus in Graz, the Volkstheater in Vienna, the Theater in der Josefstadt, the Salzburg Festival, the Reichenau Festival, and ultimately at the Burgtheater. In 2002 she was admitted to the ensemble. The artist’s television presence is also well established. She gave brilliant performances in several of the most important Aus-

trian films, including the alpine drama North Face, the pilgrimage film Lourdes, as well as Ulrich Seidl’s Import Export, and became popular among the general public as iconic columnist “Polly Adler” in the successful TV comedy Polly Adler – Eine Frau sieht rosa. Petra Morzé was nominated for the Nestroy Theater Award as “Best Actress” in 2004 for the role of Genia in Das weite Land (The Distant Land), followed by Romy nominations in 2006 and 2009. Her son Simon, from her relationship with actor Stefan Matousch, seems to have inherited her special talent and has already followed in her footsteps, making a name for himself in Der Trafikant (The Tobacconist). The actress was able to handle the pandemic restrictions fairly well. She spent the second COVID summer giving readings in the floating salon at the Vöslau thermal baths. Autumn will bring Nymphen in Not (Nymphs in Distress) together with Angelika Hager, Maria Happel, and Ulrike Beimpold, addressing the themes of self-optimization, Botox, and power aging. Her connection to Carinthia is reflected in a special way every year on October 10: After all, she was born in Klagenfurt on Carinthia’s national holiday, and as a child she always believed that the flags n were hoisted everywhere in honor of her birthday..

Die Freude war umso größer, als feststand, dass ich gleich beide Awards der Kategorie gewonnen habe", freut er sich. Mit beflügeltem Optimismus kündigte Schützlhoffer nun an, als erster Juwelier in Österreich einen Breitling Flagshipstore zu eröffnen. ch wollte nur Ski fahren. Natürlich habe ich davon geträumt, einmal erfolgreich zu sein. Aber dass es auch wirklich dazu kommt, das war nicht planbar“, so Klammer.

Als Sohn einer Kärntner Bergbauernfamilie 1953 geboren stand er schon von frühester Kindheit an auf den Skiern. Es gab keine Lifte und er bestieg alle Strecken und Berge zu Fuß. Da ihn alle Kinder bald als den Besten bezeichneten, begann er mit 14 Jahren mit dem Rennsport und schaffte mit 17 Jahren den Sprung in den Kärntner Landeskader. Nach dem Sieg in der Europacup-Abfahrt in Bad Kleinkirchheim wurde auch ÖSV Abfahrtstrainer Charly Kahr auf das Kärntner Talent aufmerksam und es ging gleich an die ersten Weltcup-Einsätze. Allerdings nicht in der Abfahrt, sondern im Riesenslalom. Mitte der 1970er Jahre galt er dann als Abfahrtskaiser: Er war Seriensieger, gewann auf allen klassischen Strecken, oft sogar mehrmals (4x Hahnenkamm, 3x Lauberhorn, 4x Gröden). Bei den Weltmeisterschaften 1974 in St. Moritz in der Schweiz holte er sich seine erste Goldmedaille in der Kombination. „Ich freute mich über die Möglichkeit, Rennen zu fahren. Dann kam der Olympiasieg. Dass der dann solche Auswirkungen hatte, habe ich mir nie gedacht“, so der für seine unverblümte Lo-

ckerheit beliebte österreichische Nationalheld. Olympia in Innsbruck brachte einen ungeheuren Erwartungsdruck, Bundeskanzler Alfred Sinowatz versprach sogar öffentlich, dass er im Falle eines Sieges des Idols zu Fuß den Patscherkofel besteigen werde. 60 000 Zuschauer kamen zu dem erwarteten Zweikampf mit dem vorhergehenden Olympiasieger Bernhard Russi, der auch prompt eine Bestzeit aufstellte. Klammer startete auf schon etwas rippiger Strecke: „Ich bin ziemlich gut gecarvt, obwohl wir damals noch keine Carving-Ski hatten“, so Klammer. Deshalb habe er auch im oberen Teil der Strecke so gerudert, im unteren Teil ”konnte ich den Ski ohnehin laufen lassen". Bei der Zwischenzeit war er allerdings nur Dritter.“ Ich habe das schon irgendwie gespürt. Ich habe natürlich extrem viel riskiert, war aber oben einige Kurven zu direkt und zu lang in der Hocke, weil ich das Limit suchte", sagte er nach dem Rennen. Daraufhin habe er die Linie verändert, ist beim Bärneck ganz raufgefahren, gewann unglaublich an Schuss und raste ins Ziel. Die Reaktion der Zuschauer sei nicht so euphorisch gewesen, wie er es sich gedacht hatte. Aber Sinowatz hielt sein Wort und konnte von der ganzen Nation schwitzend am Patschern kofel gesichtet werden.

ust wanted to ski. Of course, I dreamed of being successful one day. But you can’t even try to plan what then actually happened,” says Klammer.

Born into a Carinthian mountain farming family in 1953, Franz was on skis from an early age. There were no lifts, so he climbed all the routes and mountains on foot. Since all the other kids considered him to be the best, he started racing at the age of 14 and made it into the Carinthian national squad by the time he was 17. After Klammer’s victory at the European Cup downhill in Bad Kleinkirchheim, ÖSV (Austrian Ski Federation) downhill coach Charly Kahr also took notice of the talented Carinthian – and Klammer’s first World Cup appearances weren’t long in coming. Not in downhill, however, but in giant slalom. By the mid-1970s, he was widely regarded as the reigning downhill king: He was a consistent champion, winning on all of the traditional courses, often several times (winning four times on the Hahnenkamm, three times on the Lauberhorn, and four times in Val Gardena/Gröden). At the 1974 World Championships in St. Moritz, Switzerland, he won his first gold medal in the combined event. ”I was excited to have the opportunity to race. And then came the Olympic victory. I never imagined that it would have such an im-

pact,” says the Austrian national hero, who is well-loved for his outspoken, easy-going manner. The Olympics in Innsbruck brought with them the tremendous pressure of expectations; Chancellor Alfred Sinowatz even promised publicly that he would climb the Patscherkofel on foot if the national idol won. 60,000 spectators came to this long-anticipated duel with the previous Olympic champion Bernhard Russi, who immediately clocked a best time as well. Klammer started on a course that was already getting a bit rough. ”I carved pretty well, even though we didn’t have carving skis back then,” Klammer said. He explains that that’s why he paddled as he did on the upper section of the course; on the lower section, ”I was able to let the skis loose anyway.” His split time, however, placed him only third. ”I kind of sensed that was happening. I obviously took an extreme risk, but I took some curves too directly at the top and squatted too long because I was looking for the limit,” he said after the race. He then changed course, went all the way up at Bärneck, gained an incredible amount of speed and raced to the finish. He says the crowd’s reaction was not as euphoric as he thought it would be. But Sinowatz kept his word and the entire nation caught n a glimpse of him sweating on the Patscherkofel.

It comes as no surprise that Hubert Wallner, after receiving four toques and repeated top scores in Gault&Millau and Falstaff, has also become Gault&Millau 2020 Chef of the Year and 2021 Top Chef of the Year. The best chef in Carinthia has now put his “own signature” on his dishes as well as on his new restaurant, into which he has invested over a million euros together with meticulous planning and much personal commitment. His new domain at the Hermitage Vital Resort features all the latest technological innovations, a wine cellar n on an international scale, and a rotating ambience.

n Ferlach haben die Waffenschmiede seit Jahrhunderten ein Zentrum ihrer Kunst und genossen bereits seit dem 30-jährigen Krieg Weltruhm. 1750 scheint der Name Fanzoj als örtlich ansässiger Büchsenmacher auf, 1790 wurde die Firma gegründet. Der große Sprung erfolgte 1906, als Fanzoj mit dem „Ischler Stutzen“ zum Hoflieferanten von Kaiser Franz Josef avancierte. Ein weiteres interessantes Kapitel der Firmengeschichte begann in Karlsbad, dem Nobelkurort der Monarchie, als mit künstlerischem Design einem illustren Publikum die prachtvollsten Waffen zur Verfügung gestellt wurden. Patrick und Daniela Fanzoj können also aus einem umfangreichen Erbe schöpfen, beleben aber das alte Handwerk mit neuen Visionen: Klassische Werte und hohe Ästhetik sollen mit höchster technischer Qualität im Einklang stehen. „Wir sind ein Brückenbauer zwischen Tradition und Moderne“, erklärt Daniela Fanzoj. Jedes Jahr wird nur eine kleine Anzahl an Waffen produziert. Einzigartige Unikate für ein außergewöhnliches Publikum, lautet der Anspruch. erlach has enjoyed its status as a centuries-old hub honoring gunsmiths and their craft that dates as far back as the Thirty Years’ War. The name Fanzoj is mentioned as a local gunsmith on records from 1750, and the company itself was founded in 1790. The big break came in 1906, when Fanzoj became purveyor to the court of Emperor Franz Josef with the legendary “Ischler Stutzen.” Yet another intriguing chapter in the company’s history began in Karlovy Vary, the posh spa town of the monarchy, where the most magnificent weapons featuring fine artistic design were offered to an illustrious clientele.

Patrick and Daniela Fanzoj can thus look back on a richly elaborate heritage, while also revitalizing the age-old craft with fresh vision: traditional values and strong aesthetic appeal unite with the most sophisticated technical quality. “We build bridges connecting tradition and modernity,” explains Daniela Fanzoj. Each year, only a small number of weapons are manufactured. Unique originals for an exceptional clientele, that’s the company’s mission. KUNST UND KULTUR IN KÄRNTEN

as im 11. Jahrhundert gegründete Stift Ossiach ist ein ehemaliges Benediktiner-Stift, das am südlichen Ufer des Ossiacher Sees zu finden ist. Hier wurde 1969 der Carinthische Sommer gegründet, der mittlerweile zu den bedeutendsten österreichischen Musikfestivals zählt.

Eine reiche Sammlung von Ölbildern, Holzschnitten, Aquarellen, Zeichnungen und Skizzen bildet den Grundbestand des Werner Berg Museums. In seinem Testament vermachte Werner Berg diese Bilder der zu gründenden öffentlich rechtlichen Stiftung Werner Berg in Bleiburg.

Das Museum Moderner Kunst Kärnten widmet sich, wie vormals die Kärntner Landesgalerie, der Sammlung, Bewahrung, Erforschung, Dokumentation und Vermittlung sowie der allgemeinen Förderung moderner und aktueller zeitgenössischer bildender Kunst.

Diversität vertreten, dem eigenen Geschmack treu bleiben, sich vom Mainstream fern halten sind Markenzeichen der Galeristin Eleonore Schäfer, der immer wieder starke Ausstellungen in den atmosphärischen Galerieräumen von FORUM KUNST contemporary im ART SPACE stift millstatt in Österreich gelingen.

Das Stadttheater Klagenfurt ist das Landestheater für Kärnten und Kärntens größte Kulturinstitution. Es steht in der Dreiländerregion Alpe-Adria (Österreich, Slowenien, Italien) und ist das südlichste Theater des deutschsprachigen Raums. 1908-1910 vom legendären Architektenduo Helmer & Fellner im freien Empirestil erbaut, feierte das Stadttheater 2010 sein hundertjähriges Jubiläum.

Monarchie, lebten und arbeiteten an diesem wunderschönen See: Gustav Mahler, Alban Berg, Anton von Webern, Johannes Brahms und Hugo Wolf. Alle n liebten den See und das Land Kärnten.

Die inhaltlichen Themen beziehen sich auf grundlegende Fragestellungen der Existenz, die mit Aspekten des MythischMystischen und Spuren des kollektiven Unbewussten zu einer n individuellen Mythologie verbunden sind.

ounded in the 11th century and magnificently decorated in the Baroque period, Ossiach Abbey lies on the shores of Lake Ossiach amidst the romantic mountain world of Carinthia, Austria’s southernmost province. It was here that the Carinthian Summer was founded in 1969, which has since become one of the most prestigious Austrian music festivals. The Carinthian Museum of Modern Art houses the collection of the Province of Carinthia, including two different art-collectins: the art-collection of the Province of Carinthia and the picture-lending library (Artothek)/Carinthian Landesgalerie. The Stadttheater Klagenfurt is the regional theater for Carinthia as well as being Carinthia’s largest cultural institution. It is located in the three-country Alpe-Adria region (Austria, Slovenia, Italy) and is the southernmost theater in the German-speaking world. Built in 1908–1910 by the iconic architect duo of Helmer & Fellner in the Second Empire style, the municipal theater celebrated its centenary in 2010.

The core collection of the Werner Berg Museum consists of a rich variety of oil paintings, woodcuts, watercolours, drawings, and sketches. In his will, Werner Berg made these works permanently available to the public through the Werner Berg Foundation in Bleiburg. Celebrating diversity, remaining true to one’s own aesthetic, and keeping a healthy distance from the mainstream are the hallmarks of gallery owner Eleonore Schäfer, who time and again succeeds in staging powerful exhibitions in the atmospheric gallery spaces of FORUM KUNST contemporary at ART SPACE stift millstatt in Austria. Musical revelations. The philosophy of the Lake Wörth Classic Festival is arguably truly unique: Five world-famous composers, all of whom grew up in the imperial and royal monarchy, once resided and worked on this stunningly beautiful lake: Gustav Mahler, Alban Berg, Anton von Webern, Johannes Brahms, and Hugo Wolf. he exhibition, which primarily features more recent works, intermittently augmented by earlier pieces, presents a cross-section of the various methods and techniques employed within the artist's oeuvre – from graphic art to painting, collage, sculpture, object installation, film, assemblage, and the environment. The thematic aspects address fundamental questions of existence, which are linked to elements of the mythical-mystical as well as to vestiges of the collective unconscious, n creating a unique mythology.

A VOYAGER AMONG DIFFERENT LIFESTYLES, CULTURES, AND WORLDS BORN IN KLAGENFURT IN 1948, PEPO PICHLER COMMUTES BETWEEN THE CARINTHIAN CASTLE OF SCHMELZHOFEN AND URBAN SAN FRANCISCO.
