editor’s message Merry Christmas to all Green Monkeys! What have you done during this holiday season? There are so many opportunities to give back and I hope all of you took it! Christmas also means winter break, woohoo! Thank you to those who continuously attend events, participate, and to my lovely Historians who remember each month to turn in their article. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Years!

GREEN MONKEYS! My term is basically one more month and it has been a great journey. Thank you to those who went to Conclave. It was great to see who was interested. I hope to see you guys continue in the process, I cannot wait to see what the future holds. Although it is winter break now, I also hope all you guys are helping your communities and giving back. This season is when people need it most. You guys have already worked so hard, but service never stops. We also had our joint DCM with 13 South Ninjas which I hope you all enjoyed. Hope to see you guys at the Downey Rose Float Preparation! Happy holidays!

Hi Monkeys! Wow, the year has finally ended and our term will be too *sob*. I hope you've all had a well-rested Christmas break. Thank you all for working so hard this term; I appreciate you all so much. Remember to register for District Convention that will be taking place in April and continue to fundraise! Conclave is also coming up and I encourage all of you to attend and see who our new Lieutenant Governor elect is for the 2016-2017 term. Again, thank you Green Monkeys for all that you do! Remember to keep volunteering at service events and working hard! Ansley Tran Last Christmas we helped volunteer, and the very next day, we did it again. This year, to help spread the cheer, we'll tell our friends about Key Club. Happy Holidays green monkey! What..it's actually cold in Southern California? But the cold wont stop us green monkeys from serving! I can't wait to see y'all in ugly Christmas sweaters at our next DCM with D13S. Don't forget: the cold never bothered us anyway! ....I'm sorry I had to include that because I felt like I SLEIGHED it. Okay I'm done now. Christie Lee
Hey, monkeys!!! This month was really awesome especially now that we're coming into the new year. I really hope you all enjoyed our division council meeting that was at the Warren library. As we going to the new year I'm sure you'll all be excited for the next couple division events that will be happening. We've come a long way since the beginning of the year and I'm really proud of everybody! You all made me really proud member of our division and I hope you all who are underclassmen choose to remain active! I definitely plan on staying as active as possible!
It's pretty chilly right now and your hands look cold, let me hold them for you. Stay crispy! Bethany Nguyen

More opportunities to give back! I hope to see all of you at DCM in your holiday gear (aka ugly Christmas sweaters). Until then green monkeys! Keep doing what you are doing and being the ones to make a change! Jessica Doan

During the month of November, Lakewood Key Club volunteered at Longfellow Elementary School. Longfellow hosted an event called the Harvest Festival. The festival took place on November 17, 2015 and children were dressed up in cowboy attire. The fun included a train party express, ring toss, slides, jumpers, and many more activities for students to enjoy! In the beginning of their shifts, Key Clubbers helped set up tables and move around food and drink items to where they belong. They carried heavy coolers filled with refreshments to the snack bar and delivered a cooler to each game booth. Then, volunteers switched into helping conduct the game booths for the children to play. It was a hassle for the kids trying to catch the horse with hula-hoops! Giddy up, Cowboy! This month Downey High Key Club had the privilege to attend an event at Treasure Island Park. We were asked to plant twelve trees including shrubs and various indigenous California plants. Also we spread mulch and learned the proper way to plant a tree. Not only did our club attend, but our sister clubs Kiwin’s and Builders Club were there so we were able to help each other. We also learned about the local ecosystem in the park and how they all work together. Overall it was a great experience for our club to learn about our environment as well as maintain it. Earl Dubongco, Downey
On December 7th, Warren High Key Clubbers helped the special needs students shop for their families at JCPenny. Warren High teamed up with Teen Connection and Downey High's Los Amigos club. With a $25 gift card that was given to each special needs student, they bought gifts for their families for the upcoming holiday season. Volunteers guided the students around the mall, helping the students get what they wanted on their wish list. We hope the families enjoy the gifts their children bought; it was a blast shopping with them! Bethany Nguyen, Warren

On December 10, 2015, Norwalk High School Key Club had a baking day at the Long Beach Ronald McDonald house from 4pm-6 pm to bake goodies for the children of the St. Jude Hospital. These baked goods were distributed the next day at the Christmas party that was held from 6pm-8 pm. We also have been helping Art Club with their Saturday workshops from 9am-12pm to help with artwork that will be displayed for the Artrageous Event that is held in May. Kelly Rueda, Norwalk
This month Key Clubbers at Cerritos were ready and spirited for Fall Rally. After several meetings of learning chants and going through the itinerary Key Clubbers anticipated the day. Key Clubbers enjoyed all the rides and expressed how motivating the rally was. They felt like they were a part of a large family while styling in our Green Monkey attire. Fall Rally South was the event all Key Clubbers were pumped for!! Nikita Advani, Cerritos
