Crazy how it’s been about a month into school already! Based off of your club updates, it seems like all of your first meetings and club rushes went well and I am so happy to hear that! Thank you guys for coming out to the DCM, I hope you all had a fun time. Keep on doing a great job at balancing your extracurricular activites and school work. Can’t wait to meet all of your new members as well! Remember to advertise your own club and division events!

My Key Club Story
3
My junior year of high school was the year I officially joined Key Club. I liked the idea of a club built on community service. I attended almost all the meetings that year, and actively participated in as many service events as I could. Most people would probably say Fall Rally was their most favorite Key Club event. However, I think the service event that really got me devoted to Key Club was the Long Beach Marathon. My friend and I were paired together all day, even when we had to switch to different stations. I think my Key Club moment happened while we were working at the end of the line, handing out medals. I was awestruck as I realized how hard the runners trained and how much effort they put into the marathon, so that they could give it their all. Later, that feeling came to be the feeling I experience after each service event I attend. I feel amazed at how much more I can do to serve the community. I think this is what makes me a better leader and a greater person overall. I now realize how much helping out the community can make you feel. As this term’s Secretary of Lakewood Key Club, I wish all of those who don’t have a Key Club story, will experience one soon.
Kandi Gonzalez. Lakewood High Lakewood Key Club Secretary It’s now my junior year and I’ve been in Key Club since the end of my freshman year. As I’ve spent these years in Key Club, I have become more active as a whole, more eager, more ambitious and I’ve put more time and effort into working hard to serve our community. Now for my favorite event it would have to be Project Shepard because it has such a special place in my heart. During Project Shepard I spent four days after school volunteering and during those four days all I had in my mind was that I’m going to work as hard as I can to help get these can foods get to those families who were in need. This event really opened my eyes to the importance of getting out there to help serve the community because the community deserves it. Giving back to the community is such a great feeling that no other thing can compare to and to those other Key Clubbers out there try and be more active in your club to help your community out! This year I aim to become more involved and inspire the new freshman as the seniors who are now in college did to me.

Hey everyone! I hope school isn’t stressing you out too much. We have so many upcoming events coming up for the division. I hope all of your club rushes went well and your first meetings went well. Don’t forget to keep fundraising for PTP as we approach Fall Rally. I’ll be attending Key to College: USC so I hope to see you all there! As for future events, please stay up to date with them and publicize to your members to come out especially your new members! Let them see what us Green Monkeys do and how we swing for service! Thank you to those who came out to the past two DCMs. See you guys soon!

HEY, WHAT'S UP, HELLO, MONKEYS! I hope you have all had a good first month of school! Things can be difficult at times, but please remember to hang in there; make the most of things while you're still in high school! Thank you all so much for your hard work and service, and putting time and effort into attending and volunteering at events. Remember to keep reaching out to others in need, and asking for help when you need it! As we head forward into the fall, please continue to work hard for your club to recruit members, and to come up with more service events and fundraisers! Again, thank you all so much for your hard work and dedication. If anyone needs help with the club MRF or with anything else, please feel free to contact me.
Hi Green Monkeys! I hope you've all had a successful club rush and 5 a first month of school! The stress of school has come into swing but the wonderful welcome of new members has just started! One more month until Fall Rally!! Are you ready? We have amazing cheers prepared for all of you! Don't be afraid to approach me whenever you need anything! I wish you all amazing luck for the school year and keep striving to make the world a better place!

Hey guys, I hope everyone had a great first month of school. I know it is hard getting used to actually working and studying all over again, but don't forget to continue volunteering! Hopefully all of you had a successful Club Rush and were able to recruit lots of new members for the new school year. Don't forget to start hosting events to start off the year strong and to prepare for Fall Rally! There are a lot of ways you can fundraise so that you can reach the goal of raising $300 for the Pediatric Trauma Program, such as fundraising with restaurants and increasing club dues. Keep in mind that Fall Rally isn't just an excuse to go to Six Flags but that it's to celebrate all the money we raised throughout the year. Make sure to come out to the next DCM or division event, I can't wait to see y'all! Christie Lee Division 13 North Spirit Coordinator Hey monkeys, I know that this past September has been really fun for all of us especially with the events that we've been going through! This past month we've had our amazing DCM at Liberty Park and the week after that we had to the college which I'm sure you are that was awesome. I know that you guys had a lot of fun there because I could see it on your amazing places! It was really amazing to see all of you there! It was really inspiring to see all of your excitement at these events and I'm really glad to serve you for the rest of our term. Gilberto Luis Peraza-Martinez Division 13 North Executive Assistant

“Kamryn Sagiao is one of the 9 Presidents of Division 13 North. As President of Warren Key Club, she is doing an amazing job and of course, is taking multiple classes that challenge her everyday, but she always makes time for her club and her members. Her attitude about life and everything that she has to face is really inspiring because she never lets anything drag her down even though she obviously has many things going on in her life. She's constantly an uplifting person to be around and an amazing example of everything that Key Club has to offer in its members.” -Gilberto Luis Peraza-Martinez

MONTHLY RECOGNITION Member of the Month: Mark Elayda, Lakewood I’m thankful for receiving this recognition and to the other Key Clubbers I wanted to take the time to say thank you for helping me become who I am today. You guys kept me down to earth and tireless to help our community when it needed our service. To those new fellow Key Clubbers my one piece of advice for Key Club and life as a whole is to step out of your comfort zone and create great experiences. No one else will get you where you want to be unless you put in the effort to doing so; get out there and meet new people, come actively to meetings, go to more service events and keep working hard. All in all, thank you for the recognition and thanks to my fellow Key Clubbers who helped me grow as an individual.
Club of the Month: Artesia High School Artesia is SO thankful once again for achieving Club of the Month! We are also so very thankful for all the members that put in their time to serve our community and to make it a better place. Even though it has been a hard month, we are willing to keep going and serve our community and our members!
Officer of the Month: Stephanie Chhang, Lakewood I am so honored to be selected as Officer of the Month. It has been a great experience to be part of the Division Leadership Team and making newsletters every month. On September the 8th, Artesia High School held Club Rush; Club Rush is a date where all the clubs have a table explaining what the club consist of! Key Club had more than 100 students sign-up in less than 15 minutes!! Our vice-president, Micheal Roque, created a tri-fold inorder to inform future members the major events Key Club held throughout the year. The tri-fold had numerous amounts of information such as Fall Rally, Unicef, Dcon, and many other wonderful dates to be saved on our future member's calendars! We, Key Club board members, are greatly honored to receive our new members and create wonderful memories this year with the new community service projects we will have this year. Our first Key Club meeting was held on Wednesday, September 9th. During the first meeting we went over what Key Club meant and the many branches Key Club had from elementary to college education! Anfernee, vice-president, explained to the new members our new service projects and also spoke about Fall Rally to excite everyone! He showed a Fall Rally video from last year and showed them how much of a family we really are! At the end of the meeting we did the "How do you feel" cheer to bring our new members out of their comfort zone; everyone had fun and all that was hear from around was laughter. We hope to give our new green monkeys a great experience in order to make them come back every year!

This month Cerritos Key Clubbers volunteered at The Cow Run. The Cow Run is an annual cross country and open race at Regional Park. The first race starts at 7:30am, the open race, for anyone that wants to participate. Key Clubbers helped pass out water and granola bars to the runners as well as helping take off the chip from their shoe laces at the end of the race. Runners were told to place the chip given to them on their shoelaces so that once they crossed the finish line, their time and rank would be saved. In the cross country team races, some Key Clubbers passed out the medals and prizes as the runners walked through while others stood at the finish line to assist runners that were unable to walk. Not only were the Key Clubbers ready to serve, they were super enthusiastic and cheered all the runners on once they crossed the finish line. The Cow Run was a great event to serve because of the enthusiastic environment set by the Key Clubbers and Cerritos Cross Country Team.
Nikita Advani, Cerritos Warren High key clubbers began the school year with our weekly event! On Saturday, September 5th, Key Clubbers volunteered at the Downey First Christian Church. Sacrificing their sleep and working under the scorching sun, they still had smiles on their faces and kept a positive attitude. Volunteers helped pass out food for the entire community, and packing the food into carts and bags. Although school had begun very early for Warren, their hearts were very big and they made sure to help the community at any cost! Many people showed up to volunteer and many new faces were seen as well! We hope the people who received food had a fantastic time enjoying meals with their families.

Last month Norwalk Key Club has a Social Sports Fest at liberty park so we could have the chance to get to know our members better. We started off with fun ice breakers that everyone was involved in, then we had the sports out like volleyball and football. While they were playing, David was making the hamburgers. After we all ate, we played fun games like find the gummy bear in the whip cream. This past Thursday we had our first Key Club meeting on campus. A total of 47 students had attended the meeting-- the room was packed. We hope to get more students to become involved in our club through Club Rush next week.

On August 29, 2015, Lakewood Key Club volunteered at St. Pancratius Catholic Church to help out for its fall festival. St. Pancratius Festival is a celebration for the church where all its proceeds will go toward the regular operations of both the School and the Religious Education programs of the Paris. During “booth break-out, volunteers came to set up booths, tents, open gates, and even paint the even paint the booths to make the festival look creative. All the sweat they put into the festival will make others happy!

Throughout these past weeks HPHS Key Club has been very active giving back to their community. We have stayed committed to the Church Food Distributions every Friday of every week. We have also been accompanying local clean ups like LA Works and The Coastal Clean Up. We have stayed with the Tree People, as we will for the next few months. We have had a great amount of Green Monkeys who show up to our Church Distributions. Most of them said they really enjoy them because they have the chance to meet some amazing people who are facing an economic crisis but will live off of anything. It has really taught us as a club that we should be grateful for every single thing we have. The Church Distributions are every Fridays after school. Our members Mimi and Tiffany had the chance to attend the LA Works event where they woke up at 6am to help our LA River by picking up trash, disposing dead plants and painting. Also, we have new committed Key Clubbers that attended and went from station to station to help out. We were so proud to see them getting dirty and giving back to the community. Despite the heavy rain on Tuesday, we still managed to gather a few dedicated members to walk up to our park and help inspect our trees of its necessities for the local Tree People event. We gathered information on which trees need more assistance in which we will help maintain in our future Tree People event.
