ltg letter Hey Goldfish! I hope the last remaining days of your summer were not spent in sad anticipation and that you all will have an amazing school year! As the new school year starts, Key Club events will start to become

more

and

more

frequent.

August

was

probably the most quiet month of this entire term, but I can assure you that these next three months in preparation for RTC and for Fall Rally will give members numerous opportunities to participate and become better leaders. I saw a lot of different clubs prepare for the upcoming school year, and I’m so happy about that! Namely Villa Park did an amazing job, utilizing registration and social member(s) to publicize Key Club. Keep up the great work everyone, and thank you for the support that you’ve given me during this point in the term.

beach boomba by: sky do from foothill On Saturday, July 20th, Foothill Key Club joined Region 3 at Beach Boomba 2019! All the divisions in the region gathered at Huntington State Beach for a fun day full of sun, icebreakers, and extreme games. At Beach Boomba, each division held a DCM where each club got a chance to talk about what they accomplished the past month. Afterward, each member was given a clothespin with the goal of finding the owner of the pin. The divisions had a blast playing fun games such as watermelon eating contests, large tug-of-war contests, and several rounds of the game “Steal the Bacon.” The LTG’s of each division raised money as well by getting “pied” in the face, using shaving cream on plates. In the end, all the attendees participated in a beach cleanup. Overall, Beach Boomba was a successful event for Foothill Key Club to have fun in the sun with friends in D04E and fellow divisions.

chinese ambassador program by: gillian pascual from villla park Throughout July, hundreds of foreign exchange students from China arrived in America. Many students of Villa Park, including the wonderful members of Villa Park Key Club (VPKC), came to make new friendships with the Chinese students! The students of Villa Park came to school every day of the school week from 8 AM to 12 PM to guide the Chinese students, giving them tours of the campus, helping them out during their classes, and answering any questions that they may have during the day. This esteemed program has been occurring for quite some time, and this is the first year Villa Park has participated in it. However, they did not disappoint. As mentioned before, VPKC has been very active in the program, along with Villa Park athletes that participate in football, volleyball, and more. One of the best volunteers of VPKC is Sarah Luu, who is pictured in the first image with one of the Chinese exchange students. Our very own VPKC president, Isabelle Tran, is seen in the second image, wearing pink with her group of Chinese students. Her students have said that they were very blessed to have Isabelle as their friend during their stay. VPKC has had a blast volunteering for this fun opportunity and is grateful for the unique experience!

yorba linda's linda's board board training training yorba by: ryan bui from yorba linda As July was ending soon, Yorba Linda Key Club was fortunate enough to meet with the former school Key Club president, Ashley Bui-Tran to discuss the roles of the board members. Ashley is a bright young student who has recently graduated this past year and will attend the University of California Irvine this fall. To illustrate her words, Ashley informed the board members of Yorba Linda Key Club to remain on top of their responsibilities. Furthermore, she told everyone to get Key Club members involved with their community, whether that would be as simple as participating in club fundraisers or attending club events. Also, during this board meeting, the new board members discussed promoting the joys of joining Key Club at Yorba Linda and how to give back to the community that gave them so much. Ryan Bui, the membership coordinator and bulletin editor, suggested that during Yorba Linda High School’s annual club rush, they would tell their friends about Key Club and ask them to promote Key Club to their other friends. To this, the other board members agreed and began to formulate a plan.

from people to dinosaur by: sky do from foothill On Sunday, July 14th, Foothill Key Club volunteered at the Heritage Museum of Orange County for their annual “From People to Dinosaur event. Division 4 East, mainly Foothill, and other divisions in Region 3 offering their assistance with crafting booths, setting and cleaning up equipment, and directing traffic in the parking lots. Foothill Key Club volunteers mainly helped with the crafting and game booths. One of the booths involved making dinosaurs out of popsicle sticks, googly eyes, colored paper, and white glue. Other booths involved making dinosaur necklaces, throwing rubber dinosaurs through a cutout, and an obstacle course race with plastic easter eggs. Overall, our club had an enjoyable time crafting with kids at the museum.

s c h o o l :

villa park

"Villa Park has done an exceptional job at starting the school year off. Asking future members to join at registration is an awesome idea that schools in the future should follow suit on. They have also shown exemplary service through both their events and submissions. I’m looking forward to another great month with Villa Park and the rest of the schools in Division 4 East." ~Caden Hise (Lieutenant Governor of Division 4 East)

o f f i c e r :

rachel balta

"Rachel always reminds me of upcoming deadlines. She takes initiative and gets on my butt. I could rely on her when I was sick for three weeks straight and vomited four times in two days, causing me to miss school and having to take a break, and she always is telling me new ideas and school deadlines, which we must meet in order to avoid termination of the club. <3" ~ Lisa Pham (president of Foothill Key Club)

m e m b e r :

dulce salinas

"Dulce has attended every single concert at the park. She communicated well with the people and the volunteers. She is very friendly and a good spirit commissioner. Dulce Salinas continues to succeed in her position." ~ Leslie Zamora (president of Orange Key Club)
