GREETINGS FROM YOUR LTG

Hey, Penguins! I hope you are all having an amazing spring semester! My name is Dmitri Saberi, and I’m so honored to be serving as your 2016-2017 Lieutenant Governor of Division 56. I will not only govern over the Division this year, but also serve as a liaison between our Division and the PNW District.

I have big goals for us this year, all centered around one thing: communication. We are the in-the-middle-of-nowhere division of the PNW, but I believe we can overcome that to unify and increase collaboration as a Division through- you guessed it- communication! After stronger connections between clubs are established, we can help each other on issues such as recruiting new members, budget, etc. This will not only help each individual club, but it will unify our Division and lead to us moving forward and collaborating as a unit. I will help move this process along via club visits (I will visit each club at least two times, probably more), newsletters (if you don’t know what those are, the answer is literally right in front of you), reports, Facebook posts, etc. I strongly believe this is a year of change for Division 56, and I am so excited to be a part of it! Also, I’m SUPER (I know, all caps and italicizing- maybe too much coffee) excited to meet all of you! I hope to become great friends with each and every one of you. The first round of club visits should get rolling by May, so I’ll see you soon!

I’m so happy to serve all of you this year, and I hope you are all as pumped as I am! Feel free to shoot me a text if you have anything you want to talk about.

Yours in Love and Service,

Dmitri Saberi Lieutenant Governor of Division 56 Pacific Northwest District Key Club International dsaberi15@gmail.com (509) 715-7475

Grace! Thank you for being our phenomenal Lieutenant Governor of Division 56. Your influence was really valued among all of us here in the club. I enjoyed getting to know you for the first time during the old swim team days. Everyone has changed so much since then, but I can’t help but remember the great experiences during those times. Now you are off to college, and I wish you the best of luck as you prepare for your illustrious future that’s ahead. I know that your talents and abilities will take you extremely far in life and I hope you have a memorable time doing so. I wish we got more time to talk this year, but nonetheless I wish you the best in the next couple years of college for you, and the greatest of years ahead. Thanks for being our LTG and a truly awesome person! Andy He

Hey Grace! Although I personally don't know you very well, I would still like to send you a big thanks for all your efforts serving as the lieutenant governor of division 56 this past term. Not only did you serve as LTG, but you also acted as a wonderful role model as well. Thank you so much for all your guidance and help this past term! Best wishes! :) Jane Tang

THANKS, GRACE!

Dear Grace, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you've done for Division 56 and beyond as Lieutenant Governor. Not only have you put us as your priority, but your influence has made a great impact on all of us from the Pullman High Key Club, and you've inspired us to work harder in order to achieve our goals. I'm so glad to have gotten to know you these past few years, and I know you'll leave a lasting impression on our division and district for many years to come. I look forward to the things you'll accomplish in the future, as I know they'll be big as well. Sincerely, Aasiya Islam

Dear Grace, it’s hard to believe that you’re really leaving the key club family and that you’re almost done with high school. The least I can possibly do is thank you for not only the effort you’ve put into Key Club while being our Lt.G, but also for being my favorite senior. You were always there to make dances more fun, to offer advice, and of course, to make fun of Dmitri. I definitely wish we’d had more time to spend together this year, but I love that even though we didn’t, it’s still so easy to talk and to feel close to you. You’re honestly one of the hardest workers I’ve ever met and as a whole, something I aspire to be like. It’s sad to see you leave, not only as a senior, but also as an outtie from our Division. I’m going to miss your spirit, dedication, and ability to make everyone feel welcome. But I know, that although you’re leaving, you’ll never really leave Key Club behind, because it’s a “way of life”, as we know. You’re going to do amazing things in the future and I honestly cannot wait to see what you do. We’ll be cheering you on from Pullman no matter where you are, and no matter what you’re doing, so never think you’re unsupported. Anyway, I love you so much, and I’m going to miss you so much this year. You better visit. Love, Ally H.

THANKS, GRACE!

MEET THE HEAD HONCHOS: THE EXECS PART 1 Hello Pacific Northwest District Key Clubbers, My name is Juliet Yu and I’m your 2016-2017 District Governor. I am both honored and thrilled to serve alongside the PNW District Board and with caring leaders like you! Being apart of Key Club has been one of the best experiences in my life and I can’t wait to continue this in our Pacific Northwest District! For our journey together, I truly believe this year will be one of the greatest the Pacific Northwest District has ever seen. By taking the steps of Service, Unity and a Kiwanis Family plan, we will see the heart of Key Club, connection of our district, and reminders of our past/inspirations for our future. One of my mottos in life is “We over Me.” We together are equals in creating an impact and change for this year and beyond. It’s not about me, myself or I. We are all Key Clubbers with passion of calling Key Club our adventure. So please feel free to message me anytime via email, Facebook message or phone on any questions you have or if you want to talk. In love and service, Juliet Yu Pacific Northwest District Governor Key Club International (253) 218-5979 julietyu.pnwgov@gmail.com

Hey Pacific Northwest District Key Clubbers! My name is Bryan Lee and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve you as your District Treasurer for the 2016-17 term. My goal this year is to serve and increase connection with Lieutenant Governors and you, the members. Through my quarterly Treasurer newsletters, I hope to provide you the opportunity to learn and engage with the District. Similarly, I look to increase contact with your Lt.Gs to ensure they have the information necessary to help you. Throughout these past 3 years, I have had the opportunity to personally serve at every level in Key Club up to the District, and one message that has never lost strength is the importance of assisting the members. If you have any questions this year, don’t hesitate to contact me: I’m still a Key Club member like you, and I’m only a message away.

As an avid Key Clubber and a bit of a Photoshop geek, I am beyond excited to serve in a position where I am able to capture and curate your hard work in our district newsletter, THE ESPRESSO. I plan on publishing four seasonal publications during my term, in addition to making divisional newsletters more accessible for the rest of the district. With the spirit and eagerness to serve still buzzing from DCON, I am confident that great days are ahead of us. Greetings Pacific Northwest District, I'm Amy Hung and I will be your Convention Chair for the 2016-2017 service year. Through my experiences, I plan to make DCON 2017 an even greater DCON than the year before. A goal of mine for Convention is to increase attendance and to strengthen workshops for all attendees. From serving as a member, club officer, Convention Aide, and now Convention Chair, I have learned that us Key Clubbers, all have the same objective. We all work together to make a difference in our home, schools, and communities. Like the great Troy Bolton once said, “we’re all in this together!” If you have questions about this upcoming District Convention, please feel free to contact me through Facebook, text, call, or email! THE PLAN TRIPLE-C COMMUNICATION

CONNECTIONS

COLLABORATION

Triple-C is a three part plan I have formulated to ensure the growth and success of our Division. The plan splits the year up into three stages, each with varying time frames. These stages will build on each other to form a solid framework for the future of Division 56 by the end of the year. The first part of the plan is Communication, which is the stage we are in now. In this part of the year, my focus will be on creating modern, efficient ways of communication for our Division, and initiating it. This will lay the groundwork for much of what we will accomplish this year. The second stage will be Connections, in which my main focus will be making sure clubs are talking to each other, exchanging ideas, and in general, getting to know each other. This will give us unity as a Division and help us become more than a Division: a family. In this stage, club visits especially will be a very helpful way of creating connections, which will add a face-to-face component to the communications amongst our clubs. The final stage, which will transition us into becoming a strong, active division, is Collaboration. In this stage, through the solid groundwork we have laid through steady communication and strong connections, we will be able to plan events together, and do joint fundraisers. This stage is where I hope to organize the first ever Division 56 DCM. From here, we can have multiple clubs send members to DCON, which will induce excitement, which will lead to greater participation. This leads to a self-feeding process, which will help Division 56 grow in future years. Through this plan, I aim to make big leaps toward making Division 56 strong and independent. In doing this, the groundwork will also be laid for future LTGs to lead our Division and take it to even greater heights.

DCON 2016 On March 18-20, at the Washington State Convention Center, almost 2000 Key Clubbers from across the PNW came together to celebrate a year of service. The 2016 District Convention included icebreakers, caucusing, spirit battles, District Board induction/retirement, the Governor’s Ball (Ball is life, heh), and so much more. I hope to see many of Division 56’s Key Clubbers at DCON 2017 from March 31-April 2nd in Portland, OR!

“WELCOME TO CONVENTION, WE’RE REALLY GLAD YOU CAME! 67TH ANNUAL, IT’S GONNA BE INSANE!” 18

WE DID IT! In an effort that initiated in 2010, Kiwanis and Unicef set a goal of raising $110 million for the Eliminate project. And after six years of hard work from Key Clubbers, Kiwanians, and the rest of the K-Family, we reached our goal as of March 23, 2016. This signals the end of the successful six-year District Project. The new District Project will be announced soon, and I hope all of you are as excited as I am! 2015-2016 PNW District goal: $75,000 Amount Raised: ~ $79,000!
