GIRLS BASKETBALL

This U13 Basketball season has been an eventful one and we emerged as winners, while not first but third in DASSA, our team has learned so much about the flow of the game and has begun to show interest and passion in the sport. We lost 2 matches and won 5 learning lessons from each match and moving forward from victory and loss. This season has been a drastic improvement in numbers and overall outcome; therefore, I am extremely proud of this team and how well we have worked together.

In practice, we implemented a variety of drills to tackle each meticulous skill of basketball. To improve contested shooting, we did various forms of one on one to imitate the pressure of the game and contact layups to adjust the team to the aggression of the game. Similar to the U14, we used the rainbow drill for all ranges of shooting and three-man weave to two on one to increase the intensity of our game. In the future, to build further upon this foundation, we hope to improve our ball handling and confidence with dribbling to become stronger as well as more consistent shooting.

We have had lots of support from peers but most importantly from our coach Miss Hember who put it all together and kept patient with our team (even when we had questionable shooting) ensuring that we remained confident and kept moving forward, so a massive thanks to Miss Hember and all the coaches who make up our team.

I am so proud and happy to see commitment and engagement from all skill levels and hopefully new opportunities will arise for everyone to improve in the game.
