A writer’s craft A writer’s purpose is the aim of a piece of writing. It could be to inform, explain, describe or entertain.
First-person perspective: when the story is told by one character in that character’s voice.

Third-person omniscient narrator: a narrator who has access to the thoughts and feelings of all the characters in the story.
Create a setting by appealing to the five senses – sight, touch, hearing, smell and taste.

Plot: the events that happen within the story.

Setting: where all the action happens. It is the specific place, timeframe and world where the story happens.
Redraft a piece of writing at both word and sentence level by skimming and scanning the text, cutting, upgrading and using a dictionary or thesaurus. Edit a piece of writing by skimming and scanning with a focus on spelling and punctuation, using a dictionary or thesaurus and using a second pair of eyes to check.
