8F La gramática: El imperativo 1

F. La gramática: El imperativo 1

In the previous exercise you most likely used the imperative to say ‘call my parents’. The imperative is a mood that is used to give an order or command, for example: llama a mis padres, abre la ventana, cerrad los libros.

The imperative – informal

To form the informal imperative (speaking to one person or more than one person), follow these guidelines: tú (addressing one person) Remove the -s from the tú form of the verb: Llamar – llama Comer – come Abrir – abre

vosotros (addressing more than one person) Remove the -r from the end of the infinitive and add -d: Llamar – llamad Comer – comed Abrir – abrid

Ejemplo:

Llámame.*....................................................Call me. (to one person)

Llamadme. ...................................................Call me. (to more than one person)

Come la pizza...............................................Eat the pizza. (to one person)

Comed la pizza. ...........................................Eat the pizza. (to more than one person)

Abre la ventana. ..........................................Open the window. (to one person)

Abrid la ventana..........................................Open the window. (to more than one person)

Levántate.*...................................................Get out of bed/get up. (to one person)

Levantaos.** ................................................Get out of bed/get up. (to more than one person) *Pronouns (such as me, te and os) are attached to the end of the affirmative imperative. **Note that reflexive verbs do not add the ‘d’ at the end of the vosotros form.

F.1 Convierte los verbos en imperativo con tú y después en imperativo con vosotros. TÚ VOSOTROS
