Dear Santa...
According to Ms. Miriam Castellanos, AP Spanish Literature and Literatura Hispanoamericana teacher at CAG, “There are many benefits to PBL. Thanks to these, the students put into practice those skills that they have been developing throughout their school life.” Ms. Castellanos coordinates a project for Grade 12 students that incorporates fourteen different teachers and numerous subjects, including English, Spanish Literature, Social Studies, Math, and Science. Students are charged with synthesizing their knowledge from these different subject areas to solve a real-world problem and then present their findings to a public audience. After months of planning and research, students come away with applicable life-skills that will carry them through university and life.
“People are social beings,” continues Ms. Castellanos. “It’s no surprise to anyone that the issues people face or will face require creative solutions. This means we must work as teams to generate original, feasible solutions”, and that is what PBL strives to inspire.
