I am a fervent reader of tulip magazine and must say that tulip never fails to impress me with the quality of its editorial. I find the magazine very entertaining, the articles are useful, and the graphics wellpresented. There’s always an interesting feature about a new art exhibit, hidden restaurant, or cultural event that I’d never heard of, but immediately want to go check out. Hina Rais, Business Head Poecile, Gallery for Fashion and Art Tulip is an interesting magazine which gives us a day to day background of what’s going on in the city. College Days Happy Days Everyone agrees that college days are one of the best and most memorable days of one’s life. All the fun with our friends, bunking classes to watch movies and hangout, playing pranks on the lecturers and many more make college a wonderful, fun filled and life changing experience with unforgettable memories. Tulip brings you what Hyderabadi college students have to share about their amazing college experience. I completed my 3rd year and I’m going to start my 4th and final year, which is a very crucial time for me to build up my career. I’ve had the best time of my life in the past three years, had many ups and downs and made some really crazy friends. We were always into fun and not so interested in studies. I did hell lot of stupid things in these three years. Now that I am getting into the final year, I realize that it is time to start taking things seriously. I’m planning to do an internship in a well known infrastructure company in the city and will try doing a mini project too. After BE I’m planning to do my Masters in Construction Management mostly in the USA, but the sad part is that there will be no more college, no more fun with friends. I’m going to miss my college life. Narsimha Rao C, BE in Civil stream at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology

16 JULY, 2013

I’m sure college life is going to be the most memorable time of my life. It’s hard to realize that I’m in the final year now. It still feels like college has just started. I’m going to miss a lot of things like being the funny one and making the whole class laugh, having loads of time to spend with friends, and the fun filled last moment group studies. Life was all about having fun and not being too serious, and it’s probably going to be the other way around when we graduate. I look forward to this last year of college and I feel like it’s going to be the most fun and memorable year of my college life. Adnan Intekhab, Final year at St. Mary’s

CAMPUS BUZZ The three years of my engineering has been fun so far. There has always been unity in our class which was shown through our mass bunks. The professors were supportive and friendly with us, which had always helped us to excel. College has taught me a lot about life and friendship. I’ve made some amazing friends. College has helped me discover my 2nd love-modeling. So I have started modeling along with my engineering and all my friends were supportive and have always been there for me, helping me out with all the classes I have missed. I’m into my fourth year now, which is indeed a crucial year and indicates that it’s the time for me to get serious with life. I have started up with the placement training in college and hoping for the best. Monika Tthangalapalli, CSE 4th year, Muffakham Jah College of engineering and technology.

I’ve just finished my BBA 1st year. To start off it was an amazing and a memorable year filled with challenges but the college staff helped me overcome them. I still remember the first day I walked into the college, excited but yet very nervous as it was a new world for me. But thankfully I found amazing friends who always supported me. My most memorable moments were basket ball in rain, the delicious dhaba food and it’s so much fun unlike those sophisticated places. As our college is in the outskirts, travelling is fun. Every morning I get to see the greenery and spend time with nature. The long drives and the time in class rooms are few things I can never forget. Fresher’s party of our college was a fun event! The fests help us showcase our ideas in the competitions. They encourage various types of talent of our students, from modeling to dance etc. So I can say that our college just doesn’t believe in studies but also believes in co curricular activities too. I’m sure that I’ll have oodles of fun in my coming time in IBS.

College is one of the most exciting phases in everyone’s life. I have a few things to share. Everything about college has an unexplainable charm about it. From making new friends to doing a completely new course, from bunking classes and hogging in the canteen to the 12 day long fests. I’ve had the best moments of my life after stepping into college. The coming two years are however going to be challenging, as we will be introduced to two new subjects. College life is definitely a very exciting phase and everybody cherishes all the memories they’ve made during those 3 years. So, I’m looking forward to these coming two years of new experiences and a lot more fun. Zainab Ali Sajjad, BA 2nd year at Villa Marie Degree College

Tadasha Mishra, IBS Hyderabad

I still remember my first day in college. I was so excited to meet new people, to make new friends. College felt like a liberation for me as I was far away from my family. It was my first time away from them. It was a bit difficult at first to be with people I didn’t know. I wanted to fit in. Eventually, everything went smoothly. I met wonderful friends, some of the best people I’ve met until now. College has given me so many memories, which I’m going to cherish forever. It helped me to be the best I can be. College is a dry run of the rest of our lives. It’s a training ground on how to be successful and become good people. Pradeep Reddy, Final year at David Memorial institute of Management

Love thy city

H

yderabad is definitely one of the most picturesque and beautiful locations in our country. If it has a lot of pubs and clubs that ensure a great nightlife, it also has small ice cream parlours at every nook and corner. If it has five stars in the name of Park, Marriott and Novotel, the Chinese bandis and the dosa corners are also favorites of major people. Where on one hand, Hyderabad is a fast paced metropolitan city having a wonderful growing IT industry and a successfully running Tollywood Industry, Hyderabad still manages to have the calm and serenity that draws people here and gives them a wonderful feeling of being a part of this beauty called Hyderabad. Komal Sirwani approached a few Hyderabadis and asked them their reasons to love the city. •

I love the Hyderabadi food

Hyderabad is a very neat, clean and peaceful city.

The people here are extremely warm and friendly.

The weddings in Hyderabad are lavish occasions and social circles are fantastic.

The Outer Ring Road of this city is my most favorite for long drives.

Anjum Aladdin, Home maker •

I love Hyderabad for a million reasons,

It stands out for me over other cities because it’s well rounded and diverse in its own way. I’m a North Indian and I settled in effortlessly.

The Hyderabadi Biryani is delectable, be it Paradise or Novotel.

South Indian Food on the other hand is absolutely awesome especially at Chutneys and Rayalaseema Ruchulu.

There is a very high probability of co-incidentally finding someone you know at a wedding or at a party in ten minutes of conversation.

Hyderabad is not as rushed and congested like other metros around the country. Plus it’s much safer for women than other cities like Delhi

The Weather only gets better after June and that’s always something to look forward to.

So what’s not to love??

Tannya Bajaj, Post Graduate

20 JULY, 2013

Hyderabad is undoubtedly one of the best places to reside. Being born and brought up here, I can say that I have grown with this city. My reasons to love Hyderabad are •

The lovely weather of this city. Evenings here are always pleasant.

The malls and multiplexes of Hyderabad make shopping and watching movies an enjoyable experience.

Hotel Rubaiyat of Ohri’s at Hitech City is one of my favorites and my reason to love Hyderabad even more.

The drive at Outer Ring Road is something that I make sure I take time out for.

The friendly nature and chilled out attitude of everyone in the city makes life even better.

Mahesh Sirwani, Businessman

Festivals and events especially kite flying during Sankranti and amazing lord Ganesha’s pop up everywhere during Ganesh festival.

Hyderabadi Biryani is one such thing from which no one can resist. I believe Irani chai, Double ka meetha, Bagara Baigan, Telangana Pappu add on to the culinary list.

A Thriving Tollywood industry.

Necklace road is the city’s answer to marine drive.

The best part is, here you can’t identify which language or religion a person is from because almost everyone speaks one language that is Typical Hyderabadi Lingo.

Rina Hindocha, Designer •

Undoubtedly one of the reasons everyone loves this city is its weather that is pleasant at all times except summer.

People here are friendly and cosmopolitan.

No one here is in rush. Everyone works at their own pace and enjoys work.

By and Large, Hyderabad is a great combination of a growing city and has great small town advantages.

Even though the standard of living here is high, the cost of living is less compared to other large cities in the country.

LIFESTYLE •

Love the food. From biryani to haleem to other local options from across the state is all available in this city. And the day I’m in mood to try continental, Asian there’s more and enough restaurants in town.

As compared to some of the cities in India, I feel Hyderabad is one of the safest cities for a woman. Being in the hotel industry, work demands late nights and driving back alone and honestly I’ve never had any issues. Also, the people of Hyderabad are extremely friendly, warm and harmless.

While the metro project has led to severe traffic jams, I still think this city is fairly easy to commute within and access to public transport is great. With the proximity of stations and airport connected to the ORR, one does not have to worry about missing the flight.

This city allows one enough space to live a wonderful, balanced personal and professional life with a good pace. So if you believe in having a life while balancing work, Hyderabad is the place.

From pearls to silk, to handicrafts, antiques, and bangles from Charminar. The city is a shopper’s delight when it comes to having a collection from the land of Nizams.

Dr. Vijayraghavan, Orthopedic.

I have been living in Hyderabad for the past ten years. In these ten years the city has grown by leaps and bounds. New flyovers, better road connectivity, the new international Shamshabad airport and much more. There are number of reasons why I love Hyderabad,

being the risk taker I am, I did so with the support of my family. Day at work: When I reach office I meet everyone personally update myself on all work that I have given them earlier and on the whole status of my work. I do a quality check, which I consider is very important. Then I have meetings lined up with my clients in and out, if there are any shows or events, I am meeting the exhibitors or designers, or I am out sourcing material, something or other is always lined up. So for now I am a devoted

excuse of a “fashion office,” to wear stuff that’s generally over the top to wear around the city. While dressing for the day, I usually pick out clothes from my latest collection and mix and match them with something from my closet. Anything I think might add to my wardrobe, I get made, because this is what I do, make clothes that I would wear that might appeal to everybody CHIGURUPATI is catering to. Career: I did a course in fashion marketing for 2 years in New York, that’s when my love for fashion really grew. I started blogging, sharing my views on trends, gave tips and suggestions on how people can wear of what they already

have. With some great response to the blog, I also got a lot of “We wish we had access to something like that in Hyderabad.” That’s when I thought to myself, “Why not make them available?” However, when I came back to India, I was discouraged because there was no place in Hyderabad where I could work in a fashion based company and that’s when I joined my father’s Pharmaceutical CompanyGranules India Limited. I learnt a LOT during my year at Granules but as dramatic as this might sound, my heart was elsewhere. That’s when I started designing as a hobby, hoping to juggle two careers. Upon realizing that there was no sane way of doing that, I quit Granules in May and launched CHIGURUPATI, which by the way was not an easy take but

Is there a special spot at your place where you spend most of your time relaxing and chilling? Your mind just stops thinking about all the tensions in the world and makes you feel stress-free when you find yourself in that place. Yes, you are right; balconies are the perfect place which gives you a feeling of a relaxed atmosphere. They make quite an impact giving you a good view of the environment and breathe of fresh air. Few consider them as a rescue for tired limbs; few find it a good place to hang out for a cup of coffee in that chilled and rainy weather, few find it a place with utmost privacy, for the nature lovers it is a good place to mingle with nature and with the environment and for the students it is the best place to study. You have your own perspective towards this part of your house which indeed gives you a great feeling. Along with the great feeling it gives you, it also adds beauty to your house in case you add appropriate elements in it to make it much more impactful. Some prefer greenery all over in their balcony, some like to add classy wooden structures and some make it a point to keep it very simple with a table and a set of chairs. Using wall space to make your balcony look much beautiful is a great idea to work on. Collect few beautiful creepers and flower plants which could give you a feel of a tiny garden into your indoors. Also recycling old wood and furniture items could add a glory to your balcony. By adding such interesting elements you will surely make your balcony a pleasing and functional space for relaxing at your home. The best design for a private balcony blends beauty with strength. When designed and constructed well, a balcony can be an enjoyable and valuable addition to a home. The structure must be strong enough to support its own weight as well as the weight of people and any balcony decorations or furnishings. The home balcony design should blend in with the structural and architectural components of the home’s exterior. Finally, the private balcony must abide by municipal or regional building codes. The balcony is a small platform that protrudes from an exterior wall of a building, accessed from the inside of the building through an opening in the wall, such as a window or door. Rails provide support and protect visitors from falling. Balconies in multi-dwelling units, such as condominiums or apartment buildings, may sport balcony roofs or screens to protect residents from above debris and to provide an element of privacy. To maximise space so that one can pack as many plants as he can into a tidy space, you can do ‘vertical gardening’. you can fix a black aluminium grill akin to those we use for our windows that blends very well with the wall on one side of the balcony, then hang numerous pots of plants or flowers onto the frame. The plants you chose should variegate contrast quite well against the backdrop. In effect, one covers a cold-looking wall with plants. To confer a sense of space to a tidy growing area, one should consider throwing in a couple of large plant specimens. Most of balcony gardeners have the tendency to line their plants along the window ledge in a boring and monotonous row to catch the available light for one’s plants. There should be an element of aesthetics as you will notice that landscaping being done in the small space shows the thoughtful layering of healthy plants with different colours, leaf textures and heights. While plants are really good way to decorate garden you can add your own piece of fascination to the place with a perfect spot to spend hours relaxing, sipping a coffee, reading a book or just watching stars in the night. It depends on you, how you want your favorite spot of your house to look like. 24 JULY, 2013

My phone and charger 3. 3 fashion secrets every woman should know? • People think big borders can’t be worn by everyone, it’s wrong, wear big borders, it doesn’t matter you are tall or short, it’s all about how you carry it. • Wear a Sari, it is one of the most beautiful outfit women can wear, and goes for any occasion at any time of day. • Don’t go in a price, when you have good quality be it 500 Rs or 5000 it will look good on a 20 year old girl or 80 year old, it’s all about how you team it up with modern accessories and the way you carry it. 4. One person you would like to dress? Michelle Obama 5. Next holiday you want to take? A long break to Europe, 6. Would you take up an offer to work for movies? Yes, if something interesting comes, definitely! 30 JULY, 2013

The self taught designer has been involved in the revival of the handloom sector for more than a decade. Way back in 2001, when the traditional handlooms were fading because of declining patronage and the growing popularity for embroidered saris like georgettes and chiffons, many weaver communities across India were mired in debt. Gaurang took up the challenge of reviving the traditional handlooms and bringing them back in vogue. He now supports more than 400 handlooms across India, specially engaged in a weaving technique called Jamdani. He has also emerged as a trendsetter by bringing hand-woven saris in vogue again How did your fashion adventure begin? I was always interested in fashion, especially handlooms. I wanted to work with the weavers. My father opened a textiles store in Basheerbagh. Since I was 10, I have been helping him with the store in the evenings after my school. I don’t have a degree in fashion or textile designing, but learnt a lot about colors, fabrics and texture by practically being there with my father. It was in 1999 that I started my own store, I found a weaver who was ready to weave anything I wanted, any design I could think of, and since then I never had to look back. How has the journey been so far? When I started my business, handlooms sector was dead in India. Everyone was wearing Chiffon, Georgette or embroidery. No one had any interest in handloom. It wasn’t appealing to anyone, as the colors were dull

and the designs were age old. But the way I represent and transform the handloom with a modern twist, bright colors and big borders it has become more wearable and trendy, people love it First GAURANG Label store? I opened my first couture store in the Jubilee Hills, early this year. The store showcases ‘ready to wear and practical’ fashion clothing lines for women, accessories, new contemporary, traditional and bridal, Indo-western wear, completely hand-woven inspired by ancient Indian heritage like Kanjeevarams instilled with classic Kalamkaris and zardozi. ‘Gaurang’, label personifies elegance and captivates the beauty of traditional handlooms and weaves, created using Jamdani technique with pure zari on cottons and silks. Traditional motifs are the hallmark of my creations. I believe in offering traditional Indian weaves and hand embroideries like Parsi, Kashmiri, Chikankari, Kutch and Kasauti on handloom sarees with a subtle and sensible contemporary flair. Where does inspiration come from when working with such unique fabric? Nature. I take my inspirations from nature, the flowers, tress, plants and many more. Floral and geometric designs drawn from the nature are the hallmark of my creations. I also like to re-design old saris, give them a modern twist with big borders and bright colors. What do you think about the fashion

“Gaurang Shah won the best designer award for utilization of Indian weaves and craftsmanship at the Lakhme Fashion Week Mumbai, Winter fest 2012.

scene in Hyderabad? I think Hyderbadi’s are up to date when it comes to saris, there is no trend they don’t follow. They travel a lot to shop and get the best. They are just as fashionable as Mumbaikars and Delhiites. What is the most important Land mark in your career? Lakme Fashion week. I tried getting into it and represent my designs but was unsuccessful as handlooms was not a top fashion choice to represent on ramp. But after applying for 3 years, I finally got a chance to show my collection at LFW. That’s when I finally got a chance to do something different, showcase something different from gowns and dresses, I showcased saris. I was the only designer who showcased handloom saris and people started noticing my work. And when Kirron Kher started wearing my saris on India’s Got Talent, I became a household name in the handloom Sari designing. So yes LFW was a big landmark. What is the USP of your designs? All my Saris have big borders and bright colors. I give a modern twist to the age old designs. I believe in offering traditional Indian weaves and hand embroideries with subtle and

sensible contemporary flair. My designs were created using Jamdani technique with pure zari on cottons and silks. What fashion shows have you been part of? I have represented my collection at Berlin Fashion Week 2012- Lavera Show Floor at Kosmos 2012 where I showcased 21 outfits and three saris, highlighted eco-friendly fashion. I used fine khadi, vibrant floral blooms, birds, butterflies and foliage themes. The khadi jumpsuit with floral patterns was a huge hit at this show. Other was Dubai Numaish Fashion Show also in 2012. This show included a lot of glittering saris, anarkalis and ghagras recreating the bridal look of 1950s-1960s with bright colours and antique gold adornments. And then there was Lakme Fashon Week Debut 2012 I presented saris and western outfits in cottons, kotas, muga silk and khadi with jamdhani work. The idea behind the collection was to recreate paithani designs on khadi, which are now available only in the Baroda museum. It took me six to eight months to make each one of the saris. Then again there was Lakme Fashion Week Winter Fest 2012 where I presented a stunning, colourful line ‘Ardhangini’ comprising of saris, anarkalis and ghagras. This line, presented as part of ‘India Textile Day’, recreated the look of 1950s and 1960s with the use of Kanjeevarams with Kalamkari. The show stopper Kirron Kher was dressed in an ivory colored brocade sari. Then Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2013 where I showcased my latest collection ‘Gulbadan,’

with hand-woven fabrics from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The collection saw an amalgamation of kota jamdani weaves and chikankari embroidery. The showstopper Chitrangada Singh wore a black kota sari woven in jamdani interconnected a normal furnish with a backless black choli and an antique necklace from my family heirloom. All my cakes, cupcakes, muffins are made from home made ingredients which are fresh. I don’t use eggs. No preservatives, No chemicals, it’s all natural. I don’t even take a single buck from the profit; I use all of the money to help underprivileged children.

Apple Pie Cupcake 200 g- Maida 100 g-milk powder 2 tsp-baking powder ½ tsp- cinnamon powder A pinch of salt 50 g- butter 100 g-powdered sugar 1 tsp- grated lemon or orange zest Milk- as required Apple Topping 3 tsp- butter 1 cup- powdered sugar 3 apples peeled, cored and thinly sliced Cinnamon Frosting 100 g- butter 300 g-powdered sugar ½ tsp- cinnamon powder Whipped cream as required To cook the apples: Put butter and sugar in a large frying pan over a low medium heat. When the cupcakes are baked add the cinnamon frosting.

I began my professional career working for a fortune 500 company dealing in International Trade. Though geared toward academics, I also had culinary arts in my blood. I fondly remember my mother creating a variety of masterpieces in the family's kitchen. At the end of a long workday, I would come home and unwind by cooking and baking. My hobby became my passion. So I decided to switch careers and go full-time into the bakery business. In March 2012, I opened Pink Cupcakes in Hyderabad.

Oily skin is caused by over-active sebaceous glands that produce a substance called sebum, a naturally healthy skin lubricant. When the skin produces excessive sebum, it becomes heavy and thick in texture. Oily skin is typified by shininess, blemishes and pimples. The oily-skin type is not necessarily bad, since such skin is less prone to wrinkling, or other signs of aging, because the oil helps to keep needed moisture locked into the epidermis (outermost layer of skin). The

negative aspect of the oily-skin type is that oily complexions are especially susceptible to clogged pores, blackheads, and buildup of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. Oily skin

Oily skin can be controlled by eating healthy and also with peels which control sebum production Dry, rough skin is usually caused by a lack of exfoliation and inadequate moisturization. A buildup of dead skin cells on the surface causes a rough, dry ‘sandpapery’ feel. As we age, the enzyme that causes these cells to shed becomes less active, slowing down the natural rate of exfoliation. Rough skin should be exfoliated well and kept hydrated. Skin wrinkles typically appear as a result of aging processes such as glycation, habitual sleeping positions, loss of body mass, or temporarily, as the result of prolonged immersion in water. Age wrinkling in the skin is promoted by habitual facial expressions, aging, sun damage, smoking, poor hydration, and various other factors The treatment of glycolic/retinol peels are suggested for wrinkles apart from deep exfoliating procedures from time to time as exfoliation of skin is the best anti aging treatment.. SOUTH AFRICA -

Priyanka Gupta with Family

This summer my family decided to go to South Africa to beat the summers in the city. Honestly it was beautiful to go from a concrete jungle to a REAL green jungle. South Africa is truly a paradise for nature lovers. First we landed at Johannesburg and caught another flight to Cape Town. We were there for 4 days it’s a beautiful city with a mix of European and Indonesian architecture, beautiful roads and fantasy houses facing the ocean. For a breathtaking view of the entire city facing the Atlantic Ocean we were on top of the Table Mountain. It was mesmerizing to see the ocean kissing the sky. Then we moved on to Cape of Good Hope where the Indian and Atlantic Ocean meet, it was the southern most tip of the continent. After that something really special was waiting for us, the little African Penguins a.k.a JACKASS. Seeing those little creatures in their natural habitat at penguin’s beach in Simons town was superb fun. Our next stop was Seals at Seal Island. So many seals jumping in the water, few resting on a huge rock and few trying to dive in the water was mesmerizing. The next day was adventure packed we had a thrilling ride in Combat Helicopter which is only available in Cape Town in the entire world. It was scary as there were no doors to that helicopter and thrilling because the pilot 48 JULY, 2013

was trying to do every possible stunt with that huge machine, from nose diving to an illusion of bashing into a tree and mountain. It was indeed one heck of an experience. At last we reached a place where all the ladies always prefer going first, SHOPPING. Water Front, a port, a humungous shopping mall and a huge spread of food court. It was a beautiful evening where we could enjoy the live music of African artists, delicious dinner and few shopping bags in hand. After 4 days of beautiful memories we left for a small town called KYSNA. We were totally unaware of what was in store for us on the way to that town. We had a halt on MOSELBAY, it’s a

place known for SKYDIVING. I totally wanted to jump from 10,000 feet high in the air. We were attached to our instructors for our safety and to record our act. I have no words to describe the experience. It was thrilling but beautiful at the same time, I definitely felt like a free bird flying in the endless sky for 30 minutes. It was worth every penny spent on this activity. After the hectic travelling we reached our destination. We got to see the artistic carvings done by the nature itself, the CANGO CAVES, naturally made of limestone. After this scenic beauty we moved on for an adventurous ride THE OSTRICH RIDE, where we also had chance to ride an Ostrich which is legally allowed only in South Africa. I must say this was the most scariest and daring act that I have done so far. There were absolutely no precautions given and plus we were already told before that the RIDE WAS AT YOUR OWN RISK, Phew! I think I managed it well though. The most important thing to pick up in SA is a painted Ostrich Egg as a memory of the country. Then we left this town and moved on to SUNCITY a beautiful world in this country. Sun city is a famous holiday spot with three huge hotels and of them is the famous PALACE HOTEL, various entertainment sources like water sports, wildlife safari , quad biking , elephant and crocodiles farms, hot air balloon ride , movie center , various food courts and the main important entertainment source Casinos, all inside a single boundary. Sun city also has

My wonderful summer journey kicked off with the beautiful “shanghai”. It’s just as amazing as it sounds, the weather there is so pleasant that you would love to show off your long kept jackets. We started off with a ferry ride which was the much better version of our tank bund ferry ride. The upper deck was open for the visitors to enjoy the breath taking view. The lighting, the Karan Johar movie type huge buildings were just mind blowing and the weather was like the cherry on cake. Our next stop was “Yiwu”. Yiwu is a small town not much developed city, but the best part about Yiwu was, that there were number of Indian restaurants, everything from the dosa to kebabs were available. We then proceeded to the much awaited beach zone. The next city was “Sanya”. It was just as astounding as it sounds. Everything about it was luxurious, the private beach, relaxing indoor rock swimming pool and not to forget the heavenly view. Just one noon the weather happened to act funny, and while we were busy playing on the beach, it started to rain, one of those thunderous one. Ok let me describe “ a private beach, beautiful

shown the colorful culture of the African continent. They took us back into their history and made us meet their various tribal people. We then moved to our last destination i.e. MABULA. On the way to MABULA we had fun sliding from one hill to another crossing a huge waterfall, it was ZIP LINE DRIVE. This activity was the most fun loving as we got to

slide on the metal wire with out harness on. We were over beautiful tea color water wall and between a dark green jungle. And only our voices echoing in the jungle as WOHOO! At last we reached MABULA which is safari park owned by our very own Vijay Malaya. We stayed there in simple yet beautiful cottages. We had two safaris one in the evening and the other in the early morning. There are basically 5 big animals to be seen in African junglesHippo, Rhino, Leopard, Elephant and last but not the least the King of the jungle Lion. Then we travelled towards Johannesburg and had a city tour which was an eye opener. There is absolutely nothing to shop in SA

SA is a beautiful green country and I would love to go back to this country to experience the activities I could not do it due time constraint. I will go back for bungee jumping and sea diving. Sea diving was not available as MAY month is the winter time and the ocean water has high currents and plus infected with white sharks near the shore itself. One should visit this beautiful country. International Circus”, is a promise to entertain you every single second you are there.

view, rains, thunders, water just looks amazing ,and you see couples having the best time of their life” . Yeah, hence an “Awww” moment. The food is little problematic but the 2 minute wonder i.e. Maggie will always be at your rescue. Every animal you will love (duck) and hate (frog) will be served. The eat street there has everything from Haagen -Dazs, Starbucks to the wide fast food chains. A simpler description - Sanya is the international version of Goa.

Well. That’s how my china journey ended. But i wasn’t done just yet, we hopped off to “Hongkong”, just like shanghai it’s a true beauty especially at night. Somewhere in Kowloon area, a laser show is conducted for all the visitors, good show to enjoy the view and click a million pictures. Next came the beautiful “Disney land”, land of dreams and a place which hold entertainment for everyone, no matter who you are or what your age is, All you’ll need there is a sport shoe and a camera, everything there is worth enjoying and capturing. There are hundreds of shows to watch, rides to enjoy, Disney characters to meet and souvenirs to shop Disney land was followed by visit to the peak of Hongkong. Add on was the museum “Madame Tussauds”. It had wax statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Sir Obama, Jenifer Lopez, Jackie Chan, Michael Jackson, Md. Ali and many more. After which I had to bid good bye to the beautiful HongKong and my holiday.

And then china came to an end with our last stop at “Guangzhou”. It’s one mad city. “shop till you drop.” is the best phrase to say. China is one place where you can eat everything you thought you would rather like seeing, frog, duck, sea shells, octpus just every freaking thing. Something that will excite you the most is seeing Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermes just everything sold on roads, crazy isn’t? More like a women’s dream come true. To know what grace is belly dance is a must watch. (Trust me they can make anybody drooooool ! ). Also, The TV tower there is magnificent. Beautiful! I got a chance to witness this mind blasting, breathtaking international circus, it was for the first ever time in my life that I saw bears, monkeys and elephants dancing. “Chimelong

The desire to be and have a sister is profound one that may have everything or nothing to do with the family a woman is born in. It is a desire to know and be known by someone who shares blood, history, dreams, common grounds, unknown adventures of future, dark secrets and the glassiest beads of truth. Pooja and Mala Gurbani are two such sisters who are instinctively linked by blood, love and dreams. They maybe two different individuals but their likeness come shinning through!

The Unbreakable Bond of Two Sisters and same love for fashion.

They have grown up with each other, side by side, and as far as they can remember, they have always told each other everything and anything, sometimes even finishing each other’s sentences. Whenever one would struggle or find themselves in a dilemma, the other would be right there to help pick them up. Wherever one of them went, it was assumed the other would be close behind. Although two different people with their own unique personalities, they are still associated with the same people, have common friends 50 JULY, 2013

Upbringing With a difference of three years between them, elder sister Pooja pampers her sister to the hilt but says mala was dominating and would nag her all the time. “I think dad loved me more and mom was more partial towards Pooja” says Mala. But Pooja disagrees, adds “I asked dad when you were away and he confessed he loves me more” (laughs) there you see the hint of something universal, a typical but hilarious topic between two siblings forever. “Pooja is very organized, she wants her space neat and clutter free and I am more of opposite, more easy going” adds Mala. “we never fought very much, except for very petty issues, we were together most of the time, she knew all my friends, I knew hers, we hung out together a lot, plus she never made me feel I was her elder sister, infact she was more dominating and my parents supported her saying she was more mature” says Pooja.

As Individuals Pooja is a 22 year old graduate married and with immense support from her husband she carries on her father’s business as a plant manager of their chocolate factory, mala on other hand has done her masters, assists her father in his business as her sister but also pursues her dream and passion for journalism, as a senior news representer for CVR news.

Our Bond is special They share an amazing chemistry. With a common friends’ circle they hang out, go for movies and party together. It’s more like the two are friends, buddies who know each other inside out. One Knows what the other is thinking, is going to say and wants to say. One look at the comfort level between the sisters and nobody can feel the age difference. “ she was always very protective, even though my mom and dad would be okay with somethings she would dismiss it in a go, saying you are not doing that, you are not going there, like a typical elder sister” Mala. “That I did because I believed I did not want her to repeat same mistakes as me, or go through a hard way of learning something which I did” Pooja. ”we

“I can’t imagine my life without her” says Pooja. Mala adds “me neither, she is like the most closest person I have, I can survive without my friends but not without her”” There extended family has 5 more sisters, they are all closely bond and make it a point to meet each other, keep themselves updated about each other and not to forget a trip once in a year exclusively for this fun filled band of sisters ‘only’. “Apart from all the fun we have together I know at any point of day if I am frustrated or sad, I can just call her and burst out, and she will always be there no matter what, I can talk about anything and everything” Special memory. “I had gone to London for my masters and Pooja had come to visit me, well for an extended stay of two months. I had to wake her up every morning, cook for her, and take her shopping, city tours. I almost felt like her mother. And then my birthday came up and it was the first time when I spent my whole day with her, it was amazing, shopping,

became more opposite, I was more strong headed but then today I have grown more as an emotional person.” Say mala in agreement with Pooja. Pooja is married but nothing has changed in their bond, in fact her husband dots on mala and is part of their usual hangouts and gettogethers so much that Mala’s parents have to ask them to get their daughter back to them.

“I had the same London thing in mind, because it indeed is the most special memory. But there was this one day during my visit in London, it was late night and I was craving for wine, it was freezing with around 3 degrees outside, all transport were shutdown and it was late for any store to be open, But in spite of everything, she put on her coat, wore her boots and went walking with her friends to a supermarket which was at least 20 minutes away, and came back with wine. That was just incredible, even I wouldn’t have done it for anyone, not in that freezing weather” Pooja laughs but recollects a beautiful memory.

Rapid Fire What do you call her? Mala: I call her pooji. Pooja: I call her melody. Her favorite cusine? Mala: She likes Indian, Butter chicken. Pooja: Chat. Common passion you both share? Travelling. One thing other don’t know about her? Mala: She wakes up with a headache every morning! Literally! Pooja: She thinks she can hide her emotions, but she can’t! What cheers her up when she is low? I am absolutely in love with all the apple products. I have the Macbook, iphone 5 and so I had to get Ipad3. The reason I love my ipad is it helps me organize all my work. My work requires me to be on my toes every minute and everything has to be organized. I love some of the special apps like ‘Yo Window’ through which I get to know how the weather conditions are going to be on my event dates and I can plan everything accordingly. Even the Laser app helps me save a lot of time and manpower. Several such other apps help me organize my works and events. Also I love FaceTime as I can always stay in touch with my family and close friends no matter where I am. Gavin Joseph – ipad3, Entrepreneur

The first thing I love about my Iphone is I find it very pretty. I love everything about my Iphone, I don’t need a computer or a tablet or any other gadget when I have my Iphone. Just like any other phone it helps me stay connected with all my friends and unlike any other forms of video conferencing FaceNow never gets stuck. I always need my phone because I love Instagram, Facebook, Whatsapp and FaceNow. It’s not just my phone it’s my addiction. Lastly as they say if you don’t have an Iphone you don’t have an iphone. The Samsung Galaxy S4 is more than a phone to me it’s my companion. Among all the other phones I have used the S4 has been the best one. Some of its features I adore are; the air view feature through which I can select any app just by air touch, the air gesture feature which helps in turning the pages, I also love the smart scroll feature – while reading messages the page automatically scrolls down through eye contact. Another amazing feature of the phone is while clicking a picture I can record 8 second back ground sound. Lastly I also like the smart stay feature i.e. while watching a video if I turn away the video stops automatically. I feel the S4 is a must have for all gadget lovers. Sunil Vishnoi – Samsung Galaxy S4, Student

The cannon 500d helps me explore my passion further. Some of its features I love the most its unique 15.1 mega pixel sensor; I also love the automatic cleansing sensor which automatically shakes away all the dust from the lens. Another amazing feature of the camera is its 108p full HD movie for better video quality. Rishab Sethiya - Cannon 500d, Entrepreneur Harpreet Kaur –MacBook Pro, Sr. Marketing Execcutive CCL Apple is one of the most valuable brands in the world and I believe the MacBook Pro is its best product offering the most advance software with great user friendliness. I don’t have the time or patience to be in a relationship: Ameesha

She says there is “nothing better than coming to Gujarat and receiving all the love from Gujaratis.” Ameesha Patel, who was in Ahmedabad to promote her upcoming film Shortcut Romeo, said, “Gujaratis are present almost all over the globe, so I get lots of love wherever I go. Post Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, even the Punjabis have adopted me as one of their own, so I get a lot of love and support from them as well. I think I have to be the most loved Bollywood star.” And this love affair seems to have continued for 13 years since her debut in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. Even after a string of flops, delayed and shelved films, Ameesha continues to make comebacks. She says, “I have only worked with the biggest stars of Bollywood, from Sanjay Dutt to Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, but somehow the films got into some or the other problem. It’s been unfortunate, but I have never lost hope. In Shortcut Romeo I am playing a negative character. The last time I played a negative role in Humraaz it went on to become a big hit. I like playing such grey characters, as they give you a lot of scope for acting. Ameesha seems to have little time for personal commitments, She says, “I am single right now. I have so much work on hand that I don’t have time for myself, where will I get time to dedicate to someone else? If you are in a relationship then you should do justice to it. I neither have the time nor patience to dedicate to anyone, but myself.”

Sonam translating Hindi questions for Dhanush

Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush went through a promotional marathon in Delhi for ‘Raanjhanaa’. They packed three site visits, a press conference and about a score of interviews into a single, rushed day. Sonam looked unruffled throughout in a feminine sari, but Dhanush was clearly discomfited by all the talking, and his replies were sweet but brief. Sonam, however, despite being a tad under the weather, was able to keep up the chatter. They were accompanied on this trip by the producer, Krishika Lulla. Sonam repeated her often-used line, “Delhi’s like my home,” in reply to the oft-asked question, “So how do you like being back in Delhi?” “This is my third movie to be shot here, and out of my five years in the industry, I must have spent four in Delhi,” she laughed. Dhanush was asked how Sonam did at teaching him Hindi, and he replied, “Actually, Sonam did not teach me Hindi - nobody was successful in doing that.” Amid the many repetitions of that theme - Dhanush’s trouble with Hindi - a press person from a Tamil channel piped up to introduce himself in Tamil, and a cheer went up from the rest when that happened. All this while, Sonam had been translating Hindi questions for Dhanush, but this one, it was Dhanush who had to translate the Tamil question for everyone else.

I am a fighter first then an actor: Akshay Kumar

Actor Akshay Kumar is set to take his passion for martial arts a step further by making a fullfledged movie based on it. “We are making a film on martial arts. This is something which is very close to my heart. It is still in scripting stage. We are trying to make the film as authentic as possible,” Akshay told a source. Before joining the film industry, Akshay studied martial arts in Bangkok. He then came back to Mumbai, where he started teaching martial arts. “My love for sports will never die. I love martial arts and I want to promote it in whichever way I can. I am a fighter first then an actor,” he said. However, Akshay is unlikely to act in the film that his company Hari Om Entertainment will produce. “I don’t know if there will be any suitable role for me in that,” he said.

Hrithik to devote month for ‘Krrish 3’ promotions Hrithik Roshan is likely to pull out all stops to promote his much-awaited film “ Krrish 3”, the third part of the successful Bollywood superhero franchise, with the busy actor said to have kept aside an entire month to promote his home production across the world. The movie is scheduled for release on Diwali (Nov 3) this year. “Starting from the first week of October, Hrithik will take a month’s break to market the film, right until its release in the first week of November. “The idea is to reach out to as many fans as possible during that time, because Rakeshji (directorRakesh Roshan) hasn’t started any kind of promotional activity yet. Even Hrithik has been off the media’s radar for a while now, since his last release ‘Agneepath’ was over a year ago,” said an insider. As part of the global promotion of the film, Hrithik is likely to travel to places like Dubai, Canada, Britain and the US. “Since he needs to promote the film in India as well as internationally, he will require time for the same,” the source added. Victoria Beckham: Named woman of the decade

The Spice Girls may be officially out of commission, but “Girl Power” is very much alive and well. According to Glamour UK, the woman who has made the biggest impact for her gender is none other than Victoria Beckham, the artist formerly known as Posh Spice. Among the honorees at Tuesday night’s Glamour Awards, Victoria received the highest honor: the coveted “Woman of the Decade” trophy. Glamour thinks Beckham “has defined the last decade” of fashion, thanks to her contributions to Dolce & Gabbana, Rock & Republic and, of course, her own eponymous collections. The designer earned praise from the magazine for being equal parts “family-oriented” and “business savvy” while maintaining an active social media presence. Oh, and she even found time to reunite with her pop group. Victoria attended the awards ceremony on the arm of her 14-year-old son, Brooklyn, whom she singled out as “the most handsome man in the room tonight.” She then added, “That’s really pissed off David Gandy.” The “Woman of the Decade” wore a Maison Martin Margiela jumpsuit for her big night, a decidedly less risky choice than some of her colleagues’ outfits. “I love to celebrate women. Girl power,” Victoria said in her speech. “It’s great when women support women. We need more women out there supporting women. Perhaps “Poshitis” could be a good condition, after all.

Daniel Craig was best for Bond: Henry Cavill Actor Henry Cavill, the new on screen ‘Superman’, had auditioned to play secret agent 007, but says Daniel Craig was a far better choice. The “Man of Steel” actor was upset at missing out on the part after getting down to the final audition, but admits 45-yearold Craig, who has portrayed the iconic character in “Casino Royale”, “Quantum of Solace” and “Skyfall”, has been “fantastic” in the role. “When I wasn’t selected for Bond, I was very disappointed,” contact music quoted Cavill as saying. “I’d turned down a leading role in ‘300’ because it was down to Daniel Craig and me, and auditioning for Bond took all my focus. The choice was between a younger Bond and one closer to his 40s, which is to say, Daniel Craig. “But I’ve seen what Daniel did and I think the Bond producers made the right choice. He’s fantastic,” he added.

Kim Kardashian gives birth to baby girl one month early It looks to be a baby girl for Kim Kardashian and her rapper boyfriend Kanye West. Kim Kardashian gave birth to a daughter at CedarsSinai Medical Center in West Hollywood, California, about a month premature. According to E! network, papa West was by her side for the delivery. The network also reported that the baby weighed in at less than five pounds. “I cannot even begin 2 describe the miracle that is now a part of our family. Mommy and baby are healthy & resting. We appreciate all of the love.” Kim Kardashian’s sister Khloe tweeted. She quickly followed with a second tweet: “More info will come when the time is right! Thank you all for understanding! We love you all dearly! Overwhelmed with love right now.” Kardashian mom Kris Jenner linked to both tweets on her Twitter account. She was scheduled to be a presenter at Sunday night’s Daytime Emmy Awards. The reality TV star’s pregnancy was almost as anticipated as the royal pregnancy of Kate Middleton, who is due in mid-July. That’s about the time the Kardashian baby had been due. The 32-year-old has often been photographed since announcing she was pregnant, opting to continue to wear designer clothing. She told The Associated Press in April that she eventually embraced being an expecting mom after getting past “the awkward phases and stages.”Us Weekly cites saying the reality star delivered “five weeks early. Kim got sick last night and had the baby early.” E! confirms that the baby was born naturally. The source added, “They’re all doing great and amazing!” It is the first child for the reality TV star and her boyfriend, West. Kardashian told USA TODAY in March that she understood the interest in her. “I get that my life is very public and I live my life on a reality show. It gets a little tedious sometimes when I’m asked a bunch of questions that are so silly,” she said. Give this to Kardashian: she doesn’t hold much back when she’s on air. On the season premiere of her reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, she revealed that she’s having a girl. “I’m so excited we’re having a girl. Who doesn’t want a girl? They are the best, and I know that’s really what Kanye has always wanted. He wanted a little girl,” she said.

Rafael Nadal wins 8th French Open in dominating fashion Rafael Nadal became the first man to win eight titles at the same Grand Slam tournament when he beat fellow Spaniard David Ferrer in the French Open final Sunday, 6-3, 6-2, 6-3. Nadal broke the men’s record for match wins at Roland Garros, where he improved to 59-1, with his lone defeat against Robin Soderling in the fourth round in 2009. For fans enthralled by Nadal’s semifinal victory over top-ranked Novak Djokovic, Sunday’s final may have seemed anticlimactic. But not for the champion, who hit a fall away forehand winner on championship point, then tumbled to the clay he loves and covered his face to hide his emotions. Nadal’s path to the Roland Garros title was more arduous than usual. He fell behind in each of his first three matches and needed a fifth-set comeback to beat Djokovic. And the latest title was especially sweet for the Spaniard because of his comeback after a seven-month layoff because of knee trouble. Since returning in February, he’s 43-2 with seven titles in nine tournaments, and he has won his past 22 matches. With his 12th Grand Slam title, Nadal moved into a tie for third place with Roy Emerson behind Roger Federer’s 17 and Pete Sampras’ 14. Nadal is 146-3 when he wins the first set in Grand Slam tournaments. Nadal broke the record for most men’s victories at Roland Garros he had shared with Federer and Guillermo Vilas.

Justin Rose out-duels Phil Mickelson to capture US Open Justin Rose became the first Englishman to win the US Open since Tony Jacklin in 1970 with a tension-packed par-70 final round Sunday that delivered a two-shot victory at historic Merion. Rose, who is England’s first major champion since Nick Faldo at the 1996 Masters, used a hybrid to tap the ball from the back edge of the 18th green to an inch from the cup and tapped in for par to finish 72 holes on one-over 281. Phil Mickelson, the three-time Masters champion who sought his first US Open title after five runner-up efforts, then came to 18 needing a birdie on his 43rd birthday to force an 18-hole Monday playoff with Rose.

Jorge Lorenzo seals third Catalunya MotoGP win Reigning world champion Jorge Lorenzo cut compatriot Dani Pedrosa’s lead in the championship standings to just seven points

Pedrosa meanwhile extended his run of podium finishes to five races as he held off a late charge from his Honda teammate Marc Marquez to finish second with the 20-year-old rookie back in third. MOVIES Movie Reviews

The Man of Steel It begins at Krypton where rouge General Zod (Shannon) is staging a coup to save his race and destroy everything that rebels against his diktat. Jor El (Crowe) disagrees with Zod and when the latter threatens his life, he sends his newly born son Kal El in a capsule to another distant planet Earth which lands up in Smallville, Kansas a small town which becomes ‘home’ to Superman. Zod and his cronies who have been condemned to imprisonment in an ice harvested time machine plan to take over Earth and make it their ‘Krypton’. Along the way our MOS also meets his love interest Lois Lane (Adams) and we get to watch him do what he does best - save lives and be one the suavest superheroes in the comic book legacy. Henry Cavill as Superman is an intelligent choice. If we choose to ignore his good looks for a while (which is very hard to do) and focus on his acting, then the real reason for his casting comes to surface. It’s all in his eyes. Be it scenes in the mother ship or Cavill walking across a field in Kansas, everything looks like it meant to be. Kent and Lane’s romance seems rushed and there is a sort of disconnect between the two that is hard to analyze. Fukrey Mrigdeep Singh Lamba, returning as director after Teen Thay Bhai, gives us a Dilliwaala film this time, and sets out looking for humor in the college campus. He tries creating comedy in confusion, he ends up serving confusion in comedy. Fukrey caters the standard package of bromance. It looked wild in the promos. Not the same can be said of the film itself. This is the story of four friends who want admission in the coolest college in town after class XII. The assortment is typically Bollywood as far as societal representation goes. Hunny (Pulkit Samrat), Lalli (Manjot Singh), Zafar (Ali Fazal) and Choocha (Varun Sharma) make for a varied mix of class and religions. The four friends, fukreys all, need cash all the time. So they indulge in betting and lottery. Their bets are based on decoding what one of them dreams. Twist in the tale comes when they lose sizeable moolah while gambling The problem is this film can’t seem to decide what flavor of humor it exactly wants to peddle.

Something Something Tamil director Sundar C is famous for using old formula and entertaining audience through commercial formula. This time he has teamed up with Siddharth for the same. Siddharth’s family has been doing love marriages. But due to certain experiences in his life Kumar stays away from love and marriage. But love at first sight happens to him when he sees Sanjana (Hansika). However, he doesn’t know how to win her heart. So, he takes the help of Love Guru Premji (Brahmanandam). With his advice, Kumar becomes successful in impressing Sanjana but the same Premji becomes a big trouble. What happens after that forms the rest of the story. Siddharth attempted comedy in his recent flicks but this time comedy surrounds his character. Since it is a tailor made character for him, he did without any hassles. Hansika is cute as ever. Though the story had good potential to have hilarious comedy sequences, no risks were taken and that is the minus point. Since the Tamil version has Santhanam, the chances of success are high in Kollywood.

HOT NEW RELEASES IN BOOKS

Daddy’s Gone A Hunting

By Mary Higgins Clark In her latest novel Mary Higgins Clark, exposes a dark secret from a family’s past that threatens the lives of two sisters, Kate and Hannah Connelly, when the familyowned furniture firm in Long Island City, founded by their grandfather and famous for its fine reproductions of antiques, explodes into flames in the middle of the night, leveling the buildings to the ground, including the museum where priceless antiques have been on permanent display for years. The ashes reveal a startling and grisly discovery, and provoke a host of suspicions and questions. Was the explosion deliberately set? What was Kate—tall, gorgeous, blond, a CPA for one of the biggest accounting firms in the country, and sister of a rising fashion designer—doing in the museum when it burst into flames? Why was Gus, a retired and disgruntled craftsman, with her at that time of night? What if someone isn’t who he claims to be? Now Gus is dead, and Kate lies in the hospital badly injured and in a coma, so neither can tell what drew them there, or what the tragedy may have to do with the hunt for a young woman missing for many years, nor can they warn that somebody may be covering his tracks, willing to kill to save himself . Step by step, in a novel of dazzling suspense and excitement, Mary Higgins Clark once again demonstrates the mastery of her craft that has made her books international bestsellers for years. She presents the reader with a perplexing mystery, a puzzling question of identity, and a fascinating cast of characters—one of whom may just be a ruthless killer.

Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail By Cheryl Strayed A powerful, blazingly honest memoir: the story of an eleven-hundred-mile solo hike that broke down a young woman reeling from catastrophe and built her back up again. At twenty-two, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother’s death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone. Strayed faces down rattlesnakes and black bears, intense heat and record snowfalls, and both the beauty and loneliness of the trail. Told with great suspense and style, sparkling with warmth and humor, Wild vividly captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddened, strengthened, and ultimately healed her. 62 JULY, 2013

In this book, he lays bare his fears, doubts, and the lows he experienced during chemotherapy when he lost his energy, his appetite, his hair and his battle to find the will to survive. Know Your Fortune

FORTUNE

- Tarot reading by Nupur Heda

CANCER (June 21 - July 22)

The cards in this position are shouting “Love!” This isn’t necessarily about a traditional love affair. It could be a strong heart connection between you and a possible partner whom you care about. It could even be an attraction to an ideal or a vision that is as real to you as any interpersonal relationship. It can also represent reconciliation between your own masculine and feminine aspects. This may be a sweet, adorable moment, but you can’t deduct from this immediate feeling what the ultimate outcome of the relationship will be. Nevertheless, these cards do encourage the idealism that creates fidelity and trust, empathy and compassion -- the very human virtues we need most in our lives and relationships. Your emotional, psychic and spiritual life are quickening like spring. Enjoy this wonderful feeling and bless the world with it, but don’t make any serious commitments at this time. Just enjoy your birthday with a colorful romantic experience. Angel tip: You can and will recover from setbacks. To do so, you must overcome pessimism. As you recover from misfortune, you will see the way clear before you. Give yourself time to explore your feelings, and you will awaken tomorrow with confidence in the future.

LEO

(July 23 - August 22) Even as an influential person has entered your life, true closeness may be difficult to achieve, much less sustain. When the cards come up in this position, you might be contemplating a closer bond with a very popular or powerful person. Let go of such expectations. Just relax and be yourself. There are ways in which you could be of assistance to one another. However, the current conditions may fail to offer an opportunity for the deep contact you may desire. At this moment, your personal experience is subordinated to necessary business. This does not mean that you are not appreciated. If you are patient, more opportunity for contact may follow. Angel tip: Although this is a difficult and painful position, the angel says to follow your heart. Resist trying to judge the situation in precise, rigid terms. This time of confusion may turn out to be a fertile period for you. Do not squander your energy on premature action.

VIRGO

(August 23 - September 22) The cards send a message to let go of old habits. Release rigid thinking and get rid of old baggage today. Cut loose from something that makes you unhappy. In all cases, you break out of a prison of your own making. You are there only because you mistakenly think all avenues of escape are closed. Changes are easy and happen in a heartbeat when you address the right issues or things that are wrong. You can’t really love someone if you don’t love yourself first. Devote some time to get to know you. Love is within you; you just have to learn to transmit it. Venture to see yourself from an external perspective. From this time on you’ll have many experiences, enjoy them intensely. Learn from them, they will help you deal with the people that you know in a balanced and prudent way. Angel tip: In a growing love relationship, it is almost certain that periodically one person will do something that makes the other question everything about the relationship. Knowing those odds, angel advices you must stop expecting to be seen as perfect. 78 JULY, 2013

LIBRA

(September 23 - October 22) No, this is not the Wheel of Misfortune, but it reminds you that even good happens in a difficult situation. Loss is not a bad thing. It can be an opportunity to find out, for example, why you chose the person you did. In addition, it brings home messages about whether we do too much mistaking of dysfunctional relationships for love. You’re still on time to make your partner understand that you want a different, more positive relationship. You’re strong enough to prevent your partner from having a negative influence on you. Leave your feelings aside and reason; you have the support of the people who really love you. Your luck has taken a positive turn. Surprises are on your way in your near future. Angel tip: It may be wonderful to find yourself at the center of the universe, in the right place at the right time. Still, this requires effort and attention. How you respond to maintaining this balance will determine how constant the fulfillment and success gained in your new relationship will be.

SCORPIO

(October 23 - November 21) The Lovers card has selected you because you need to recognize that a relationship is successful because energies are dedicated to it. Two Lovers are on the card face. Two people sense that the union is as good for the heart as it is for the soul. If you are dating, you may have to choose between two people. Take your time, because you could experience a change of heart. The cards in this position encourage you to keep your focus through the inevitable changes that will emerge from the choice or decision you may be asked to make about a possible relationship. Have the courage of your convictions. As a leader, you are in a position to do things your own way. So take responsibility for all the consequences of your choice. Angel tip: Be sensible. You have to know yourself well enough to determine which of the offers you are getting has the greatest likelihood of working out in reality. Sharpen your powers of discrimination and use your intuition. Then, when you’re ready, angel ask you follow your heart.

(November 22 - December 21) This is an excellent period for extraordinary and impetuous changes. Your world is falling apart and you want to save it by clinging to certain things. The only thing that you’re going to get is being dragged down to the abyss with them. Let things happen; in this way everything will be faster and less painful. Be patient, the good things in you will remain. Relax, new opportunities will arise soon. If you envision the right person for you, the right person will enter your life. If you are with someone and feel deep friendship, you have discovered one of the true foundations of love. You are in the process of fulfilling your hopes and wishes. Angel tip: Be especially careful not to emphasize the negatives, losses, reversals, and so on, when discussing your potential relationship. Think of this as an opportunity to improve the quality of communication between you and your partner.

CAPRICORN

(December 22 - January 19) You made choices you regret and you think you are proven wrong? Did you misjudge the situation? You have too much experience and too much honesty not to have understood the situation at the time. If it eases your mind, do double check and ensure facts aren’t hiding under the rug. If so, apologies help today. If not, trust that you will soon feel better because you did the right thing. Dreams and reality mingle, confusing you, making you have one of the best times ever. Enjoy as much as you can this situation but remember that someday you’ll wake up and those experiences that you’ve lived will be learning experiences that will strengthen you. Angel tip: Adaptability requires some study, some preparation -- not to mention the actual experience of getting in there and wrestling with the challenge until you become skilled. As you improve your relationship skills you will feel better and add value to your relationship.

AQUARIUS

(January 20 - February 18) This is a favorable period for friendship. Let new people enter in your life. Discover new and interesting friends in your workplace or college. You’ll feel protected by people who love you and respect you. Suggest new and exciting activities to share with your friends; you’ll live unforgettable moments. You won’t have many opportunities in your life as favorable as this one to creatively focus on your relationship. If you know how to take advantage of it, this will be a period in which feelings will grow and a passionate instinct will arise. This is also a favorable time to start stable, meaningful relationships. Undoubtedly, this cycle is favorable for getting married. Don’t try to have meaningless, promiscuous affairs. Angel tip:Trust in your own mystery and intuition, new opportunities are on its way for you and your love interest. For now, trust your instincts. Angel says if you have no expectations, you have nothing to lose.

PISCES

(February 19 - March 20) This is an excellent period for you. A balance between sex appeal and a spiritual correspondence will enrich and strengthen your relationship with your partner, making it stable and lasting. Communication, commitment and cooperation are important. Don’t forget that you are now like a team. Everything will be possible if you both make an effort. Recycle energy in the direction of healing, loving, and doing so in creative ways. The past is ancient history that cannot be changed. Let go of emotional baggage and enjoy the peace you feel when you free yourself of inner conflicts. The action invites a soul mate union. If in

a relationship, peace and reconciliation are easily attainable. Today, you see a glimpse of the possibility of closeness. Angel tip: It indicates a challenge for you and your romantic partner to be redeemed and revived. Agree to wake up your relationship to a higher level of discernment, even though outwardly it may be in the same old form, identity or situation.

ARIES

(March 21 - April 19) You have opened up the doors to a more fulfilling and spiritual love. Leave behind the material things and head towards the true love. Give and don’t expect to receive anything in exchange. Your optimistic and enthusiastic mood will help you coming close to your partner. You are going through a period in which interesting things and favorable changes are happening. You should take advantage of them. Justice has shown to you the charms of life and it is giving you an opportunity to enjoy them. Reflect upon this and act sensibly. This is a period in which you’ll have serious conversations with your partner. This will contribute to the growth of the relationship. Angel tip: The situation seems to ask for some new direction or sense of purpose. On the positive side, anything is possible. All the ingredients necessary for you to find companionship are in place. Make the first move or to simply keep the door open and be patient.

TAURUS

(April 20 - May 20) You’re experiencing an inner transformation that has suddenly opened your eyes and made you see your dreams from a different perspective. Things are not as important as you thought they were; therefore, you’ll build a new set of values that will give priority to the loved ones. You’ll find the happiness that you wish for very soon. The time has come for you to get rid of those people that have caused you trouble but you hadn’t realized until now. Don’t try to bond with people who don’t deserve you. When you become aware of the reality that surrounds you, you’ll make new friends and experience new adventures and circumstances. Angel tip: Do not think for a moment that this possible relationship is not worth the effort. You and your partner may both emerge with much higher self-esteem and fewer regrets if you make the effort to see things through. Angel says sometimes the remedy is found in going through the process rather than in arriving at any specific outcome.

GEMINI

(May 21 - June 20) You’ve changed! If you want a responsible partner, you won’t spend unproductive time with poster children for immaturity. If you desire an equal relationship, you aren’t attracted to a person who expects you to do all the work. Peace is possible in your long-term partnership now when you quit fighting each other and fight for the relationship. Don’t let things brew. Talk about issues. The cause of the problem is also the cure. Listen and take other people’s advice, broaden your mind. this is the right time to be fair and let other people communicate with you. When you listen, you discover amazing facets of the people who speak. Stay alert and be prudent when expressing your opinions. Be ready to learn from others. Tune in to people. Angel tip: You may have this opportunity to make the best of what is left to you after a tumultuous upset. If you sink into depression about what is lost, you may get nowhere. Focus on the value that still remains, and make the best of it as optimistically as possible.
