Skinkraft- India’s only customised skincare brand
At SkinKraft, skin care starts with the customer. SkinKraft was born out of two undeniable truths about the current skin care industry, women experimenting too much with their skin and skin care brands churning out generic formulations. To solve these issues, skin kraft has come up with their special box that was created after assessing various skin types. Each SkinKraft customized regimen consists of a cleanser, a moisturizer, and a skin issue specific product, like the serum. These products work in different ways on different skin types and repair and nourish the skin accordingly. SkinKraft’s products are extra gentle on your skin and are free of harmful chemical compounds and irritants such as parabens, phthalates, SLS and formaldehyde. Their products are backed by over 10,000 hours of intensive research and collaboration with Indian, Taiwanese and Japanese dermato-cosmetologists, pharmacists and pharmaceutical engineers. Created with the aim to chart a customized skincare regime for every woman, SkinKraft has already assisted over 2 lakh women with their skin concerns within a short span of 3 months and has definitely become our favourite! The Haunting of Hill House
We are not going to lie to you- how much ever you try watching this show alone at night, you just cannot. In many cases people finally end up watching it during the daytime, but it is totally worth it. The Haunting of Hill House is not only super scary, but this family drama is also fantastically well made. One could argue that the scariest part of the series is how eerily spot-on the casting is between the children, the parents and their grown-up counterparts. Whatever it is and how ever it is, this show is definitely addictive!

Over a Cappuccino with
Farha Khan
Farha Fatima Khan, initially a hair stylist from Hyderabad has now become a known figure among Hyderabadi youngsters. After being married off at the age of 20, Farha decided to continue living her dreams after her marriage. Her journey to fame began when she decided to try her luck on MTV’s popular show, Roadies Xtreme. She soon impressed the judges with her adorable personality and her will to learn. After a kick-boxing session with Raftaar, she earned a spot in the show. Farha became one of the most lovable and quirky contestants on Roadies Xtreme and her story was anything but ordinary. Off late, she has also received acting offers by Hyderabad’s popular movie makers. Her journey so far has been pretty emotional and extravagant at the same time. Presenting to you, Farha Fatima Khan- Hair Stylist to Roadies Xtreme Finalist! 20 MARCH, 2019 TULIP
Tell us something about yourself? I’m Farha Fatima Khan known as Fara Khan, just your usual girl next door. People who know me well would call me a tom boy, as I am into MMA, kick boxing and love riding sports bikes. On the other hand, I love getting dressed for parties and events by baking my face with a lot of makeup, wearing high heels (though I can hardly walk in them) and clicking pics for Instagram. I also love making Tik-Tok videos whenever I’m free and work on a few collaborations with people who make Youtube videos. My most recent collaboration was with the Hyderabad Diaries. How did Roadies happen? What was your inspiration? I have been watching Roadies since my childhood. It was always a dream like thing for me to be a part of such a show. But being from a Conservative family, I was always taught that girls are not allowed to do things like leaving the house alone or riding bikes. But when I saw Roadies I could see the girl contestants riding bikes and doing all sorts of stunts that too without any
interview round. The PI round was as perfect as it could be and I got selected for the show which was the beginning of me living my dream.
LIFESTYLE
Hopefully, it will be releasing in March-April .
What is the proudest moment in your career? Usually, getting voted out from Roadies (dream show) and going back home might seem like the saddest moment to anyone. But for me, it was like the proudest moment of my life; because when I got voted out, all the gang leaders including Rannvijay praised me and said a lot of good things about me. They also called me an inspiration for many girls. Even today, when I feel upset or disappointed over something, I watch my vote out episode and it makes me feel so much better.
discrimination between girls and guys. “Ye cheez mere dil pe lag gayi.” Last year, I was following the updates and waiting for the auditions to begin and that was when I finally decided that it was now or never. I gave my auditions from Pune and got through the audition process quite easily. While thousands of people had to wait in the lines for their Group discussion round, I had a privilege pass that gave me a direct entry to the GD room. I was done with the first round within 30 minutes and the same evening, I got the call saying that I’m selected for the personal
How does it feel to have bagged the title of “hijabi” girl of the town”? HIJAB is like my identity, people actually recognise me by my Hijab. Recently I had been to an event with open hair and I was surprised to realise that people didn’t recognise me without my hijab. I heard few girls asking the manager when Fara Khan is coming when I was standing right behind them. So I’m really happy that people started recognising me by my hijab. There are also a lot of other hijabi girls who see themselves in me and get inspired by my title of the Hijabi girl. What is the funniest thing that has happened with you recently? Few days ago, I was going back home from gym and noticed two guys following me. It was late in the evening and being followed at that hour scared me immensely. I changed my route to avoid them but they still kept following and speeding up. Finally, they came right in front of me and I had to stop my bike. I was scared but managed to ask them what they wanted. Guess what they asked? A selfie with me! *laughs* Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? Not sure, I’m full of surprises. I don’t know what ideas I might come up with. I might be on TV on some reality show or in Bollywood movies. I might even be a house wife and a mother of 2, haha. Now that Roadies is over, whats next for Fara Khan? Well, there is a lot on my mind. Since I’m into MMA and boxing, I will be going for matches within a year Insha Allah. Besides that, you will also be seeing me on big screen as I am playing a lead role in the movie Hyderabad Nawabs 2.
Rapid Fire Three things you dont leave home without? Phone, wallet, lipstick Tell us the last lie you told someone? I left my assignment at home. Are you a morning person or a night person? 100% night person. Favourite movie quote? “Hello, Farha hai?” from Hyderabad Nawabs Your biggest addiction? My phone. What stores do you shop at most? I don’t like repeating outfits more than once so I mostly shop from economical stores like Max and Westside. One habit you would like to change about yourself? Biting nails. Where would your next vacation be? Not decided.

Flying Spaghetti Monster
The Flying Spaghetti Monster is a specialty Italian restaurant that serves some really good Italian food. They spend a lot of time and effort in sourcing the best ingredients from Italy and other parts of Europe. The restaurant is small but cozy, with a nice little courtyard for outdoor dining. The menu is detailed - describing each dish, along with the toppings and preference. The staff is also helpful enough to guide you to choose the right dish based on your taste. We started our meal with the ‘zuppe, i.e. the soup’ which was their special soup of the day containing a variety of beans. After this came the ‘veg & mozzarella Antipasti’ starter. For main course, we had the ‘Diavola’ pizza that was a lovely combination of roasted chicken, mushrooms, green bell peppers, spicy Napoli sauce along with lots of oregano and mozzarella cheese. Their crust was super thin, crunchy and delicious. The ‘Risotto Di Pollo’ made with Italian rice cooked in cream with chicken was another tasty delight. The second course or the ‘secondi’ was grilled chicken served with roasted potatoes named ‘Pollo Griliata’. It had a unique flavour that was neither bland nor spicy and suits the Indian taste buds perfectly. Finally, came the ‘Dolici’ aka Desserts! We first had ‘The Bomb’ which is purely a dessert made for chocolate lovers. As its name suggests, it is a chocolate bomb that explodes with chocolate lava when opened. This is paired with a scoop of vanilla icecream and served. The ‘Blueberry cheese cake’ was a no- bake cheesecake with a thin cracker crust. Their ‘Panna Cotta’ was also very delicious and was topped with seasonal fruits. If you love Italian food with its utmost authenticity, then FSM is a must visit! Palato meaning palette, which opened it doors in Hyderabad with a aim to serve quality comfort food which will not hurt your wallet with an buffet for lunch and followed by ala- carte. Amidst their retro themed place, having a lunch buffet was totally a delight. Our favourites from the spread include the salad bar, shepherd’s pie, lasagne, bamia biltzet, one pot stew, warm chocolate brownie, baked yoghurt, and homemade italian gelatos. Prego
This is a nice and cozy restaurant with a pool view located at the lower ground level of The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace Hotel. The menu curated for Prego showcases typical Italian summer meals and emphasizes on food that feels fresh and light. The menu goes much beyond the standard Italian fare and has some very interesting dishes. For starters, we had the ‘Pappa Al Pomodoro Crostino Di Burrata’, which was a thick tomato soup with chicken and mozzarella. For Pizza, the ‘Piccante’ is the most recommended one. It has BBQ chicken and is spicy as per the Indian taste buds. Then came the Pasta, which as expected was delicious. It was called the ‘Lasagne Al Forno’ that was wood fired and oven baked with a lot of mozzarella. Prego also serves one of the best ‘Tiramisu’ in town which is a must try along with their new special chocolate dessert with oreo crumble and coffee icecream! Ci Gusta
Ci Gusta is infused with Italian flavours using locally sourced fresh produce, fresh meats and their in-house, freshly baked, handmade bread. All their tantalising dishes are skilfully prepared with highest quality ingredients, and served in a home like decor seating. Amongst their vast menu, our favourites are the chef’s blowtorch burrata salad, linguini pulled lamb bolognese, with fusion flavours as Kadai Ratatouille Ravioli, Horse-gram risotto and Italians special pizza. To end the meal, the restaurant serves the desserts like Tiramisu, Espresso Panacotta, and frozen yoghurt. The special gelatos at Ci Gusta deserve a special mention. They are rich, pure and flavourful with to the surprise of 95% fat free. The secret of the fusion flavours including meetha paan, Kunaffa and Dark chocolate being everyone’s favourite. Frio Bistro
Frio bistro is a fine-dining restaurant with classy interiors which is painted full of black color which brings the elagance to the place. The bar set-up is small, quirky & the inverted glasses tied up with the ceiling made it look beautiful. This place offers italian,Indian & Continental as well. We started our meal with the ‘Rustic Italian Minestrone’ soup which was made of kidney beans, greens and olive oil. Then we had the ‘Club Chilli Cheese Toast’ and ‘Harissa Chicken’ which had a Mediterranean flavour and was served on skewers. Coming to pizzas, Frio Bistro has some unique named pizzas with an even more unique flavour. Their ‘Belly Dance’ pizza which was as its name suggests made of Arabian sharwama and chicken. It was different and a nice new taste compared to the usual pizzas. Their ‘Chermouls Fish’ was another tasty dish made with mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. The dessert section at Frio Bistro is a unique blend of cultures around the world. Few of the desserts include the ‘Irani Chai Creme Custard’, ‘Traditional Greek Baklava’, ‘Signature Tiramisu’ and ‘Death by Chocolate’. COVER STORY Tell us something about yourself? I studied in Sanskrit school since the beginning of my schooling years, up until I was in third grade. I then went on to study in Sreenidhi International School and completed my IB MYP there. Currently, I am studying in Oakridge International school where I am doing my 11th grade IBOP syllabus. How did you develop interest in acting? Acting has been a huge part of my life, ever since I was 9 years old. That was the age I attended my first theatre class. I love how an actor is able to embody different personalities and interpret them in their own way through their acting. Ever since I’ve been pursuing this passion through classes, workshops and competitions, I feel that it allowed me to be more understanding and empathetic to people I come across in my everyday life.
What is your say about people who use horses for monetary basis? In this era, horses have become just another method of income for us humans. Many inflict pain on horses to make training easier by using abusive equipment in dressage. Thousands of horses live in terrible conditions and are starved because they cannot be payed for. Often in the case with camp horses, horses are forced to work for excessive amounts of time in the heat of summer. The worst part is that these are just few of the many ways humans abuse and hurt horses for commercial reasons in the hope of making more profit at the cost of the safety of their horse.
What is your take on health and fitness routine? I believe 2 things are very important for humans to live a long and happy life: mental and physical health. I try maintaining my physical health by either working out or going on a run with a friend while consuming a good percentage of healthy food. I also believe that being a part of my generation makes many lose hold over their own mental health. I remind myself that I’m strong and beautiful and that what people talk about me shouldn’t affect me. Why do you have a special place in your heart for horses? Horse riding is an activity that has really defined my personality. I was introduced to the Game of the Royals in my early years by my father, an avid rider, himself. That alone justifies why I have a special place in my heart for horses as there’s no one I look up to more than him. Horse riding has been an integral part of my life for years now. The bond between the horse and the rider is something which cannot be experienced elsewhere and the level of understanding a person needs to ride a horse effectively is something which comes naturally and with experience. I had a lot of help using the same with humans and it turns out to be as effective as a horse. Empathy and meticulousness are two important skills for a rider and I always dreamt of harnessing such skills just like my father. What is the one thing you love about your horses? There is something about a horse’s energy that creates a powerful shift in me. They inspire a sense of wonder in me. Whenever I’m at all tense, I only have to hug my horse and I can feel my whole system coming into alignment. Their soft eyes bring me into the present moment and I can barely contain the love I feel. For me, the time spent in riding and caring for these horses is full of natural, organic interactions and a deep sense of fulfillment. They remind me that living in the moment is the only way to be and thinking about horse riding is what gets me through the worst of days. What is your best experience with your horse? I remember the day I rode my horse for the first time. It was my dad’s personal horse that only a very few selected ones got to ride. I was so excited the day I walked up to the barn and saw the horse for the first time. I jumped at the chance. That entire experience was an emotional rollercoaster and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I was scared and nervous but most of all, I was beyond excited that I can finally experience something I’ve dreamt of and seen my favourite action stars do only in movies. Little did I know, that ride would change my life forever.
What advice would you give to a new horse owner? I highly suggest that they invest in some riding lessons. I was clueless in the beginning. Everyone who buys a horse should have some basic knowledge how to care for it and how to ride. During my very first horse riding lessons, I learnt about the three basic Lyons rules: You cannot get hurt. Your horse cannot get hurt. Your horse must be calmer when you are finished with a lesson than he was when you started. Horses are often expensive so before you buy a horse, please consider all the care and time to be invested in them and the costs incurred in owning one. When you or your horse displays unsafe behavior, always stop and reevaluate what you are doing. You may want to seek the help of a reputable professional. When you find the horse that’s right for you, continue to educate yourself. The best thing you can do for your horse is to be knowledgeable.

HHRC has been established in the year 2006 and played a pivotal role in helping people fulfill their dreams of becoming a horse rider. They believe that apart from being a great sport for personal interests, horse riding is a good form of exercise and fun that has both cardiovascular and muscle conditioning benefits. As the rider reacts to the horse’s movements, in order to avoid becoming off balance, the deep postural muscles of the trunk and pelvis and the adductor muscles of the thighs are continuously being conditioned. This helps in enhancing the body posture making a person look younger and feel much healthier. They also believe that developing a relationship and sense of trust between yourself and your horse is highly rewarding. The horse riding course entails learning various beginner levels on horsemanship from introduction to the horse, mounting and disounting, posture, controlling the movement of the horse, walking it, trotting, etc. They provide cross country and fast track programs as well which help in enhancing the balance during riding in trails, off roads, climbing up hills, down hills, canter and galloping on uneven surfaces. Moreover, all learners will also be awarded certificates for the levels they have achieved based on the final assessment on completion. Where: Towlichowki. Contact: 9908186447
I owe it to my dad who supported me in all my decisions and taught me how to play. I went to Argentina to learn polo with my family. We later moved to India and started playing with new sets of horses. I have won every major tournament in India. It mostly takes place in Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Mumbai, Bhavnagar, Kolkata. It is no longer just a sport to me, but a way of life. Polo is not only for the royals. If one can afford horses, they can take up the sport. I’ve personally witnessed that a lot of people in North India, especially in Jodhpur, Jaipur, Delhi take keen interest in the sport. One should have unconditional love for the horses to play polo. Horseriding is an isometric exercise, which means it uses specific muscles to stay in certain positions in case, keeping balanced on the horse. Because of this, postural strength is very important when riding and the posture of riders improves even in day to day activities.

My family has been very supportive in helping me follow my passion of becoming a polo player. My mom has seen me fall from the horse many times, but she always encouraged me to continue playing. I’ve been playing for a few months and the experience is surreal. I’ve covered almost all aspects of horse riding since I have my own horse named Irish Whisky. I call him Scotch for short. I love polo for the horses. Also, for the adrenaline rush. It is a great sport like golf but only faster. I look upto Indian polo player Rina Shah and many Argentine players. There is always a little but of fear blocking you and challenges you may have to face every single day but you need to get out of it and enjoy the sport. The best part is the speed and team work with the horse. The sport is very challenging and many women think that it is only for men. Women must also take up the sport here like in other countries. Many also think that Polo a sport for the rich. That mindset about the sport should also be changed.

COVER STORY I started horse riding when I was 12 years old. Back then, we used to live in Saudi and owned a horse as well. After shifting to India, I dint get enough time to continue my passion amidst the tiresome studies. Now that I do, I’ve resumed it. I go to Golconda horse riding club. Mr Mahboob is the owner of the place and is an equine vet. He has trained horses for the Malaysian Prime Minister and king of Oman. A really down to earth person and an amazing trainer. The place where we’re trained is a huge piece of Lane with 20+ horses where horse riding as well as polo classes are held. Occasional cross country rides from a back road to the beautiful himayat sagar are my favorite. Riding in itself is an exhilarating activity. It works on all the core muscles and keeps you fit. It improves coordination and also your mental health. I find calmness and peace while horse riding. It is my way of meditating. You develop a special bond with the horses and you often feel like they are responding to you. The feeling is priceless. You also need to learn the trust of a horse to be able to control it and for it to listen to you directing the way.

It is the week of fashionistas- Hyderabadi designers setting the scales high at the Lakme Fashion Week! One of the most renowned fashion shows of India, being a part of Lakme Fashion Week is a dream for every person of the fashion fraternity, from designers to fashion bloggers. It takes place twice a year which includes a Summer/Resort show in the first months of the year and a Winter/Festive show in August, in Mumbai. Lakme is the main sponsor of the show along with IMG Reliance Ltd. A panel of designers including Manish Malhotra, Anita Dongre and others select the works of over 15 designers from all over India to showcase in the show. It also has a separate acknowledgment of Gen Next designers where budding designers are given the chance to display their collection. This year, 3 of them are selected from our very dear Hyderabad!
There was Anushree Reddy, a well-known name in the fashion industry, hails from Hyderabad and displayed her new collection ‘Atirah’ inspired by flowers and perfumes. The shades weren’t just synonyms of pinks and reds but included peaches, deep blues, a few yellows and light pinks. The collection represents the modern day bride who is confident, graceful and strong in her own way. She says that her focus was on comfort during her summer enhanced with royalty and luxe fabrics. The beautiful Kangana Ranaut was the showstopper for Anushree’s collection where she flaunted her best lehenga. TULIP - MARCH, 2019 31

The third designer from Hyderabad to have showcased their collection is Swapna Anumolu with her label, ‘Mishru’. Diana Penty, as the showstopper graced her show in a divine and ethereal lehenga. Her collection was named ‘Reminisce’, a traditional range with a couture twist. Her work is bound to take you back to your growing days in Hyderabad with fragments of the memories poured in being the inspiration for the collection. We had a conversation with her to know her inputs and views about LFW 2019 and fashion in general. How did your label get its name? Mishru means a mix or a blend of threads in colloquial Gujarati. How and when did you start it? Mishru is now 4 years old and I started it with the idea to make fun Indian clothing. Traditional with a twist. What was your reaction when you got shortlisted for showcasing your work at LFW 2019? Super excited and happy! Lakme Fashion Week is a great platform to be showcasing at. Its very exciting, always bringing out the best in me. Couldn’t be happier after such a great show. How was your experience this year there? It was great. The Lakme team was so helpful in terms of coordination and putting the whole show together. We had an overwhelming response from the audience! It was a successful show altogether. It’s just gets better with every season. Tell us about your collection that you unveiled at LFW. With this collection, Reminisce, we go back to our days of growing up in our beloved city, Hyderabad, where several time periods collide. The result is an amalgam of our personal trajectory with the city’s history to create a timeless collection that feels both modern and romantic. The reminisce colour palatte is soft and airy- full of white, ivory, blush, mauve and warm grey tones. Rocco’s love for asymmetry, floral motifs and gilding are carried forward in pieces from the collection too. Who are your favourite designers? I don’t have a single favorite designer, I love design in all its forms. Tell us about your other projects and the assemblage you’ll be launching in the near future. We just got over with LFW 2019. I would rather surprise everyone with our next step. What do you think has LFW taught you? LFW has definitely taught our whole team to be calm under pressure and that hard work always pays off. A word of advice for the aspiring designers of Hyderabad? Find your aesthetic and stick to it and also to think long term.

Another Hyderabadi designer at LFW 2019 was Sailesh Singhania. Aditi Rao Hyderi turned the muse for him by becoming the showstopper in the golden graceful ensemble. The collection is inspired from the poem, ‘Queen’s Rivalry’ and named ‘Shahaana’. It represents the splendor of Indian Royalty. The range features a combination of zari Fabric and silk tissues. The designer aims to promote sustainability in fashion, Indian artisanship and the idea of making ‘Make in India’ through his collection.
How did you start your label? I grew up surrounded by beautiful fabrics and textiles which piqued my interest in fashion. As I grew older the process and history behind the technique of hand weaving fascinated me further. The “Sailesh Singhania” label was created with the vision to promote hand woven saris and apparel with a unique sense of aesthetics for discerning customers through the formation of the Sailesh Singhania Design House. What do you keep in mind before getting the handloom weaved? The brand has been constantly working towards the revival of the craft, and before the handloom is woven, we see to it that the design sensibility justifies the craft. How was your experience LFW? IMG has always made our experience at LFW unique and wonderful and this year was no exception. For the first time ever, I had an international artist, Colleena Shakti, performing her dance live throughout the show and it was magical the way she performed under the back drop of the full moon. Aditi Rao Hydari, looked resplendent as our modern day Queen Gulnaar. All I can say is seeing my vision come to reality is deeply satisfying. However it is an even greater pleasure to see the meticulous craftsmanship of our weavers being appreciated at national level. Tell us about your collection that you unveiled at LFW. Our collection ‘Shaahana’ represents the splendor of the legendary Queen Gulnaar. The heritage weaves and ancestral crafts that were once adorned by royalty are revisited through this collection to create the most exquisite masterpieces. Shaahana features a combination of age-old techniques like the Jamdani, combining it with Khadi, the royal Banarasi silk, assiduously woven with motifs inspired by the sun and the moon and the Kanjeevaram silk sarees that have remained a constant in every closet. The colours are a celebration of summer freshness, a coalescence of opulent whites and neutral tones intertwined with enigmatic gold threads. The inspiration for Shaahana is the regal splendor and beauty of an enchanting Empress. Drawn from Persian legends, our muse, Queen Gulnaar is born in the delicate space of imagination, ‘The Queen’s Rival’, a masterpiece penned be celebrated poetess Sarojini Naidu. Who are your favorite designers? My biggest inspiration is our weavers, the nature and the age old techniques of Indian handloom textiles. A designer that I have always looked upto would be Yohji Yamamoto. Tell us about your other projects and the assemblage you’ll be launching in the near future. As a brand, my immediate focus lies on saving and reviving the dying industry of our handloom crafts. We have adopted and worked with a number of weaver clusters and I will persevere to do so in the future as well. What do you think has LFW taught you? LFW has given me opportunity to showcase my work to wider audience and has taught me that the right encouragement has helped me grow and helped our weaver community grow. A word of advice for the aspiring fashion designers of Hyderabad? My advice to aspiring designers is to follow your heart and work with perseverance and success will follow.

“I can ensure that a bride will stand out on her wedding day if she gets couture from Tarun Tahiliani” 38 MARCH, 2019 TULIP
EXCLUSIVE What attracted you to begin your career as a designer? I cannot say that anything really attracted me. But yes, my wife plays a major role in my decision to start designing. When we got married, we were very young and broke. She started modelling without her parent’s knowledge as she came from a conservative background. As time passed, she encouraged herself and me to start our own clothing line. We gave things a thought and started working towards our goals with tiny steps and today you see where we have reached. In today’s generation, when everyone is so gaudily dressed, how do you think that brides can stand out? Well, I can ensure that only if they get couture from TT (winks). Otherwise, I cannot. If it’s from here, then we can ensure it’s an original, unique piece that will help you stand out. But if a bride is wearing a readymade outfit from any other store, then she can never know if it’s an original or a replicated one. How do you make sure that all your collections are never similar to each other? I design, ALOT. I work all the time on various themes, colour schemes, I sketch a lot, drape a lot. So when we choose a theme, we work on all designs in accordance with the theme. Whether it is an Egyptian theme or Bridal seasonal theme, anything. So not every piece is different, but yes, every theme is different from the other. What is your favourite fashion destination? I like Italy a lot. Their style reminds me of India in some way. The earthy colours, the hues,

the fact that things there are Age-Old, just like India. They have connections with their past and their present. Italy is earthy, like India was earthy. I like France too but they have much more artifice and stylisation. Italy is natural and raw. Do you have a favourite muse who looks best adorning any outfit of yours? Every muse is beautiful to me. There is no favourite as such. Today if Huda is adorning my outfit, she is my favourite. Tomorrow if someone else is wearing my couture, she becomes my favourite muse the moment I lay my eyes on her. What is a muse? Someone who challenges you and inspires you right? Meher is good. My friend is Minal is good. Shriya Bhupak is really good. They’re all women who love fashion and inspire me to do better. Being a muse is something intellectual. It’s not just someone with a pretty face wearing a pretty outfit. How can Grooms-to-be pick the best wedding outfit? They’ve to know themselves first. They should not see someone else and aspire to look like them. For example, you cannot be Ranveer Singh, so don’t bother trying to be like him. Men should start by trying to know themselves and knowing what they like best and what makes them look best. If a man has his own style, that is it! He needs nothing else. Honestly, it’s easier for a man to choose than it is for a woman. They’re not under any pressure like women who will go crazy if they see someone wearing an outfit like theirs.

Living in the lap of opulence Far from the hustle and bustle of the City, in peaceful and rustic surroundings of Moinabad, is this royal residential villa, complete with its own style and charm, owned by Mateen Mujaddady(State Minority President, Official Spokesperson and State General Secretary YSRCP). Beautiful, rich and royal traditional style sum up the warmth and glow of this palatial looking villa. The entrance of the villa is really captivating with elongated driveways lined with date palms, fountains and rose beds. The villa resembles a Spanish Aristocratic Villa, with traditional royal Indian interiors. The minimalistic yet traditional antique look is used all throughout the living room spaces. The taste of decor and furnishing of this place is a window to the family’s traditional past. A royal look is achieved through the carved furniture, beautifully coated with gold and an embroidered family logo in between the backrest of chairs and sofas and even in the headboards of beds. Beautifully carved mirrors of wood and console tables add elegance to the drawing rooms and foyer. Adding glow to the rooms are the floor mounted chandeliers and 24 carat liquid gold floor lamps. The two drawing rooms seen from the foyer is centered by arches that are delicately adorned with immaculate 90 year old, signature Persian carpets, ISFAHAN and KASHAN, made between 1900-1930 by master weaver’s of royal workshops, established in the city during 1600s. hard to achieve. There are about dozens of rare hand crafted crystals collected over the years from across the globe. Adding to this luxurious drawing room’s many unique paintings and antique chandeliers, is a 100 year old Radiogram in an immaculate condition from Grundig company. The elegant royal family leaves no stone unturned with it’s flattering noble hospitality as well. The pure silver furniture with grey upholstery for the master bedroom has a very classic look as well. The artistians for silver work were sourced from Rajasthan. The grand dinning hall with high ceiling is open on both sides leading directly either to to the interior of the house and linking to the poolside and a snooker room overviewing the Dining Hall. The antique style furniture adds a sense of history to the hall. The 12ft high antique chandeliers which belonged to Jaipur royal family now adds royal charm to the dinning hall. Landscaping of the villa is majestically grand with lush green lawns and exotic flora and fauna. The 150ft long aristocratic wrap around veranda with antique furniture runs around the bungalow punctuated by pillars, accentuating its openness to blooming variety of flowers and lawn with fire pit in between. The family is surely a nature lover as they have all sorts of exotic birds and animals like black swans, siberian huskies and golden retrievers. All in all the villa is reminiscent of the bygone era. Celebrate Love in a Million Colours
H
- By Jessica David
Holi is the most vibrant festivals of all time, celebrated widely in India. The plethora of colours fills the air as we bring in this “Festival of Colours” or “Festival of love” with immense pomp! The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships. It is celebrated as a thanksgiving for a good harvest. It lasts for a night and a full day, which starts in the evening of Purnima or the Full Moon Day in the month of Falgun. The day before Holi is called Choti Holi. The ritual starts by lighting up the bonfire one day before the day of Holi and this process symbolizes the triumph of good over the bad. On the day of Holi people play with colours with their friends and families and in evening they show love and respect to their close ones with Abeer, also known as Gulal. This festival of colours, when interspersed with heart lifting music, dance and of course everyone’s favourite Bhang or Thandai, taken with your favourite people around you, makes the words “excitement and memorable” seem like an understatement. Celebrating Holi at home is such a passé. Today it’s all about the outdoor Holi parties and Hyderabad is no less in organising these! Ruchit Jain,
Artist Holi has always been about friends for me! I have always celebrated Holi with my friends and have a ton of memories associated with this festival. When I was a kid, my friends and I would alternate between each other’s houses every year and play Holi with the most eccentric colours ever! As we grew up, Holi started becoming more of an outdoor affair. We used to go to all the Holi private parties with exquisite Dj‘s playing some great Holi vibe music and of course, everyone’s favourite Rain-dance. Today, it is a much more private get together where my select circle of friends gather at a farm house and we indulge in a great celebration of Holi. We then have a family gathering in the evening for dinner and there is a festive mood at home. Since I recently got married, I’m really looking forward to my first Holi with my wife. Here’s to a great Holi! Happy Holi guys!
Janvhi Mishra, Employee
Holi, the festival of colors, is my favourite festival! Right from decorating the pathway of the house with colourful rangolis, to preparing mouth watering gujjiya’s, that fill the house with its tantalising aroma, it is such a vibrant and joyful scene everywhere. The streets around my house are full of people splashing colourful pichkaari’s, eggs, Gulaal on each other and just indulging in a great time. Since I’m in town for this Holi, all my friends and family will be coming together to partake in a wonderful Holi Party at home where we exchange sweets and colour each other, of course. Then we spend hours trying to remove colors from our body using besan and oil (chuckles). Holi is not just a festival of colors but also a festival of love, happiness and the end of evil. Often, somewhere in between drinking bhang and Holi pool parties we may forget the real reason for celebrating Holi. The Holika bonfire and Holi signifies the celebration of the symbolic victory of good over evil. So to sum it up, Holi for me is about sharing happiness with family and friends and also a learning that all evil comes to an end and good precedes evil.
Dilip Billa, Fitness Trainer
Holi has always been one of the most liveliest festivals for me. A day defore Holi we all collect and stack the wood to prepare for the bonfire. When I was younger, we used to have a log placed in the centre of our town to signify it was time to collect wood for the Holika bonfire. We place the statue of Holika on the wood, light the bonfire and chant the Rakshoghna. On the day of holi all our friends meet at one place then we all have bhang thandaai as it’s a traditional way to enjoy holi. Then, we all plan to go to that particular friend who isn’t playing Holi and we pull him into the fun and make him play as well! It is a small tradition we always follow amongst our friends. Post that, my friends and I and a few cousins go to any of the good rain dance parties in the city and enjoy to the fullest! That is followed by lunch or a dinner get together. This sums up my Holi celebration in a nutshell.

music, the energy, it’s a happy party everyday where people get fit. She calls it the Zumba High! Her motto in life is to continue doing the good work. She found her passion in fitness and her wish is to learn more and more about it every day so that she can spread awareness about the importance of fitness. Zumba is specifically close to her because it cured her from asthma and helps her grow every single day and discover things about herself in ways unimaginable. The key to success is being true to yourself, your work and most importantly to keep learning at every stage. Investing in yourself will always help you reach your true potential. It should be a continuous process. When asked how Zumba would be as a career for women, she said, “Definitely”. Zumba Fitness comes from Colombia and is created by Alberto Beto Perez. It made its way into India by leading Zumba Education Specialist, Sucheta Pal, who is a mentor to all the Zumba instructors of our country, including Abhilasha. She encourages women to take up any form of fitness certification, especially Home makers, who go all out to make the house a home for us. It instills in them a strong sense of confidence, an identity of their own.
Fresh out of business school and excited to start her career in the corporate world, Abhilasha Rathi joined the HR department in a logistics company. She was content with her work and the direction in which her life was going, but her health was proving to be a constant hurdle in her life. She was frequently falling ill due to the extended travel hours and working under closed environment had caused a major damage to her health, as she was diagnosed with asthma at birth; meaning her health couldn’t cope up. Eventually after a period of 7 months, she had to quit as per doctor’s suggestions. Her life was at an impasse as she didn’t know how to go on from there or where she’d fit in. Being at home was definitely not her thing. Unsure of what to do, she joined Zumba classes on a whim just to stay fit and get in shape to take care of her health and also because she loved dancing. There was no looking back for her since then!
There have been highs and lows in Abhilasha’s life, and while the highs give her the push to do better, it is the lows that she cherishes, as it fills her with a will to never give up and learn to be patient. She firmly believes that a setback leads to a greater comeback. Also, Zumba being the biggest community of fitness instructors in the world, never wavers from doing their part in lifting each other up and working together. Through a few years of experience, Abhilasha has seen and learnt a lot. She feels that women should always take care of themselves. It is good to pursue one’s passion at any stage of life, with no bar of age, marriage or kids. Women should stop at nothing and always do what they love. Women are brave and strong to follow their dreams and passion.
She was hooked on to Zumba from Day 1. She would always look forward to this exhilarating dance session and it was that one hour of energy coupled with music which would give life to her soul. She was truly happy and not stressed about her future. She went ahead and did her research about this amazing fitness format and soon found herself signing up for Licensed Zumba Instructor Certification course. It did take a lot of convincing as her parents wanted her to join back the corporate world, but since her mother shared the same passion for fitness, she was given the green signal and that’s how she started her career with this amazing yet beautiful fitness format which promises to change lives and it truly does. Zumba had opened up a whole new world for her and the happiness she gets from taking a single session is the sole reason that drives her every single day, because it takes the stress away from her life. Whenever she sees her clients smiling throughout the session, it gives her the boost and motivation that keeps her going. Above all Zumba is a workout in itself that makes people feel good about themselves; the

While it may all seem extremely effortless on the outside, her inside journey, an assemblage of diligence, passion and dedication is nothing short of inspiring! It only goes on to show that perseverance is the foundation of a strong career. She had completed her 10th standard exams from St. George’s Grammar School, Hyderabad, post which she was faced with the challenge of choosing her career. Her mother, who is her inspiration and the most important person in her life, wanted her to take up the most-vouched-forcourse of Medicine, to become a Doctor. She agreed to take admission in her own school to continue her ISC course for +2 in BPC (Biology, Physics, Chemistry), but in an interesting turn of events, Yasmeen decided not to continue in the same school for a reason as silly as not wanting to wear a school uniform for the next 2 years. Since she delayed her admission process, her career took a turn, as every other college which she applied to later, had closed their admissions. She then settled for CEC course, which was her first baby step towards her present career, and then went on to complete her B.Com. Post that, she was left with an array of alternatives- MBA, M.Com etc., until she chanced upon a profession she never heard of before- Chartered Accountancy (CA). Her personal traits of dedication, sincerity, patience and perseverance allowed her to mould herself into this profession almost seamlessly. After a stirring audit and tax experience with various firms and individuals, during which time she also gave tuitions to balance her finances, she got an excellent offer in the flagship Company of GVK Group, M/s. Novopan Industries Limited as Accounts Officer, thus initiating her foray into the corporate world. She was simultaneously studying her CA course and her M.Com degree along with her work and although it was a rough path, she had the support of her family and some great friends who made the journey pleasant. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the year 2002, which opened more avenues for her. Her hard-work, brain power and luck together paved a pathway of opportunities for her and there was no looking back. She landed a lucrative job, at the plush office of M/s Siana Informatics Pvt. But post her return, DQ Entertainment welcomed her back and her professional growth hasn’t ceased ever since; wiping off almost all the scars of the past. Dedication, sincerity and an unstoppable greed to excel in all her responsibilities is what drives Yasmeen every single day to succeed. This coupled with all the love and trust from her superiors, family and friends, whom she attributes her personal growth to, have been an influential factor in her life. Her two maternal aunts and grandparents were the driving force in building her career. There have been a couple of times when defeat had made way into her life, but she has never held herself back. She falls only to rise up again, better and stronger than before. Her ultimate motto in life is “to grow not only professionally, but also personally and spiritually, to excel in whatever you do, with sincerity, integrity and loyalty and to be better than what you were yesterday.” She believes in sharing her knowledge with everyone and feels an inexplicable satisfaction to watch the outcome of that. She also believes that learning has no age bar and everyone can learn something from their elders and youngsters. Her key to success is a combination of several factors which are both inborn and imbibed- dedication, sincerity, intelligence, swiftness, agility, being a task-master, using both carrots and sticks depending on the situation, being flexible, valuing every advice to find the best possible solution, but never forgetting the “wit” element, without which the atmosphere will be bland. She believes in being true to yourself, your values, culture and the one above everyone else – Allah. If we do not get the desired here, we will definitely get it in the hereafter. You need to go an extra mile within your ambit to get what you desire… never be satisfied with what you have. At the same time –follow the saying in Hindi. ”Jitni Chaadar utna pair phailao”. By the Grace of God, she has strived to achieve what a lady of her standing can. She takes care of her mother who plays a pivotal role in her life, along with her only sister who is also an essential part of her life and despite the rough terrain she has crossed, she is proud of where she is today; feeling a sense of achievement, a feel-good factor whenever she accomplishes anything. She is especially thankful to her CEO, her HR Head/Presiden and her COO, who has put tremendous trust in her to bring her to this level. She feels that women should always stand up and make good on the rights that they have, but at the same time not misuse this power, otherwise the initiative will get diluted. Women should always try to imbibe good qualities and share the importance of values, which will make the society, and the world at large, a real wonderful place to live in.
Anu Pellakuru Everyone’s familiar with the name Anu Pellakuru. Her very own designer label in her bag, a cute little cafe Whatta Waffle and a thriving fitness CrossFit studio in the making, this young fashion designer and entrepreneur is brimming with energy and enthusiasm and brings something new to the plate every single day. Her mom never wanted her to study fashion designing. Like every other parent, she had dreamt of her daughter studying Commerce or Engineering and eventually settle in life. Anu however, had dreams that were a tad different. Although hesitant about going against her mother’s wishes, she gave her entrance exams at NIFT when she was all of 16 and got through. She joined the NIFT College at Hyderabad to learn fashion and was four semesters into the course when she realized that this wasn’t fueling her passion. She wanted to do something above and beyond the regular. She dropped out of fashion school and interned with a few experienced designers like Neeta Lulla and gained some knowledge about the what’s and how’s of fashion. This experience was completely different from the school based knowledge she was being subjected to. Practical circumstances teach you what books and papers can never teach you. This thirst for practicality is what led her to drop out of fashion school and start working full time. Over time, her interest and passion towards this field only grew. 3 months later, Anu, filled with an urge to launch her dreams, went to her brother and told him that she wanted to start her own label. At such a young age, she didn’t know what to do or where to start. She didn’t even have the kind of money to do anything, but she was passionate and the fire in her didn’t diminish. Her brother thought about it overnight and acceded to help her. He sold off the small business that he had and with that money, set up a business in her very bedroom with a few workers and machines. Anu made her first collection from her home but didn’t know where to sell it. She wasn’t known to many people at that point of time and was in need of a platform to showcase her talent. It was then that it struck her that exhibitions were a great idea to reach out to people. Thus came along her first exhibition showcase in Petals at Taj Krishna. That was a major turning point in her career as her clothes were a huge success. She made almost 8 lakh from a single day of display of her collection.
SPECIAL designers would be presented with a platform to showcase their talent and the overall lease could be distributed. Her client-turned partner, Sukrutha Reddy, was one of the motivating factors in her life that she attributes the growth of her business to. Her initial investment into the larger market of fashion, with the aid of her new partner was pretty overwhelming in the beginning but with great experience in hand, they were able to launch the business to an appreciable height. 3 years on and she has never looked back. With her passion completely in line with her profession, Anu considers herself lucky that she has always achieved whatever she has aimed for. She is immensely thankful to God for granting her wishes one after the other, but at the same time she considers hard work to be contributing factor to her success. She is of the opinion that people should never be lazy and always work hard.
She reckons that if she ever had to start all over again, she would do that in a heartbeat as she’s is fearless in the pursuit of her passion and she has learnt so much in the last 5 years that she can be a one man army, yet achieve what she’s able to achieve today. Fashion, Food and Fitness are the three things that drive her on a daily basis and she’s lucky to be associated with all three of them. Her motto in life is to be self sufficient and know that even if nobody is for you, you are for yourself. Self confidence and belief in oneself is the way to go these days. There were times when her workers wouldn’t show up for reasons unknown but instead of being set back because of that, she would work harder to deliver the orders because she doesn’t believe in giving excuses because client satisfaction comes first. She loves what she does and there is nothing else in the world she would rather do. She believes in helping and encouraging other entrepreneurs as herself because she knows the struggles that start ups go through. She feels that women should be kinder, yet stronger and never shy away from discomfort. People grow when put in uncomfortable situations, thus they should thrive and grow in anything that puts them off balance. She’s all about trusting that little voice in her head which tells you to go for the crazy and unexpected, because that’s where the real journey of life starts.
Within the next month, she was able to gather a lot more machinery and workforce and plunged deep into this business. There was a lot of initial chaos as designer-to-worker communication took a while to set it but soon she overcame that barrier as well. They expanded from her bedroom and took over the entire house. She launched her label called S&A by Anu Pellakuru. ‘S’ stands for her brother Surya and ‘A’ for Anu. They started exhibitions in Dubai and Singapore as well which brought them a lot of exposure. Nitya Shetty
When she was only 4 or 5 years old, Nitya Shetty auditioned for a small part in a Telugu movie. Her mother, who thought she was a cute and chubby child, really wanted her to become an actress. She fondly remembers how the director had promised her a chocolate if she delivered the lines right. She was totally sold on the idea of a chocolate in return of a few lines and that’s how her journey into the world of movies had begun. In the years following her first stint, she appeared in a lot more movies and had prominent roles even when there was a larger group of kids. It was this importance that motivated her to keep going and give her absolute best. She landed her first break with “Devullu”. She reckons that movie to be the sole reason why she is in the industry today. At that point, she was shooting for the movie “Anji” with Chiranjeevi and Kodi Ramakrishna Garu, when the latter was penning down the script for Devullu. She auditioned for the role and got through. She feels immensely blessed to have been a part of Devullu, as people still call her ‘Devullu papa’; it was the kind of recognition Devullu had given her. She did a couple more movies where she had more prominent roles to play like “Harivillu” which was a documentary directed by B Narsing Rao Garu who is a national award winner. She also did a movie in Hindi called “Maya” where she played the titular role and attributes her Hindi fluency to have come from that movie which was screened at a couple of International Film Festivals. She had also received a Gold Plaque recognition at the Chicago film festival for the same. She worked in about 20-23 movies as a child artist, but as she neared her 11th standard, she took a break from movies to focus largely on her education, although she was a brilliant student. She worked at Infosys for a while and it was around that time when she received a ton of support from her friends and colleagues to restart her movie career. That led her to tap on the opportunity and give a go ahead to her movie career once more. But, things weren’t as rosy as she expected it to be. Being in the movie line almost all her life, she expected her return to be a piece of cake and was disappointed when it wasn’t so. The path was rough and the competition was immense. She never stopped trying and after a rough patch, the opportunities started to open once more and things were starting to look promising again. Currently, she has worked on two movies- a Tamil one and a Telugu one, which are both ready for release. The Tamil one is called Aghavan and the Telugu one is Nuvvu Thopu Raa. She feels like all the years of hard work put in have finally paid off. As a child, the decision to be an actor was taken by her mother but as she grew up, she understood the very essence of being an actor and how it formed the crux of her very being. She had come to appreciate and love every bit of it. The fact that she gets to play a different person with every role is something that enthralled her and her passion for acting drives her to do her best every single day and only grows with time. Her experience at Infosys, although satisfying wasn’t something that set her soul on fire. She found this fire in acting and didn’t want it to ever extinguish

Apart from acting, she was caught on to the idea of being a boss lady. She chuckles as she remembers how the idea of employing and firing people gave her some thrill, until she realised that firing people wasn’t everything in life and in order to build an empire, she had to be a leader and lead by example and employing people also meant paying people their due, regardless of whether she made any money or not. Since she was very keen on entrepreneurship, she also recently started a social media marketing house called Daily Verve. They are very new in the market and are still figuring things out. She notes how there are a ton of startup’s every year in the market out of which a mere 5-10% make it to the next level of the business cycle. She posits that the key here is the conviction to keep going even during the rough times as business is not like a job and your returns depend on your daily grind. She plans to start an export company as well in the future. Every time she watches her movies on the big screen it is an absolute high for her but she also notes how with every rejection sometimes her morale goes down. It is times like these when her mother comes to her rescue. Her mother is her best friend and motivation and if it wasn’t for her, she would have never known this wonderful industry she belongs to. Her mother and she come as a package team. Women’s Day this year is important to her because she has changed quite a lot over the past few months and discovered that she’s pretty opinionated about certain aspects of the society today. Women empowerment, standing up for yourself, girl child education and feminism form a crucial part of her belief system. She is a proponent of feminism and believes in the equality that every woman should exercise her right to. Although, she adds that Feminism isn’t only about giving all the rights to women, it is about EQUAL rights. When women ask for equal rights and opportunities, it is important that they are willing and capable of taking up equal responsibilities as well. She was always brought up to believe that everybody, irrespective of their gender, have to be financially independent. Taking care of family is important, but you can’t always pull a woman into this loop and make it their sole responsibility. She wishes to be the voice for women someday in future and be able to impact at least a small margin of people. This women’s day, her theme would be “Equal rights with equal responsibilities.
Megha Sabhlok In the beauty sector, the world seems to be taking a step back in order to move forward. People are moving away from using harmful synthetic cosmetics and looking for answers to their beauty concerns in the Ayurvedic and herbal remedies of the bygone era. But for a generation that is increasingly looking for value for their money, how do Ayurvedabased beauty products clinch the race? 33year old Megha Sabhlok understood the underlying equation between Gen Y’s need for effectiveness along with safety and hence, along with her husband Arush Chopra, she floated an inspirational bespoke Ayurvedic beauty brand called Just Herbs in 2013. After completing her higher education from Mother’s International and Modern School in New Delhi, Megha pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the prestigious Sophia’s College in Mumbai. She also holds an MSc in Management and Marketing from Lancaster Business School (UK) and a four-year experience as a Marketing and PR professional. However, she always had an entrepreneurial streak and was keen to start her own venture. The idea of launching a beauty brand first came to her when Arush told her about his mother, Dr. Neena Chopra, creating result-oriented Ayurvedic beauty formulations in Chandigarh. Megha started using some of these formulations and also recommended them to her friends, who were impressed by their sheer effectiveness. The incredible feedback encouraged her to start thinking of launching a beauty brand based on these hand-crafted Ayurvedic remedies. After a long overhaul of ideations and conceptualizations, Megha and Arush decided to transform his parents’ company APCOS Naturals from being an OEM manufacturer to a proper B2C brand. Megha’s education in the marketing stream helped them create a formidable promotional strategy for the brand. Keeping the e-commerce boom in mind, Megha suggested launching Just Herbs as an online-first brand. She often advised Dr. Neena Chopra on modifications and improvisations to existing formulations to interest the target audience. Even before the brand was formally launched, Megha frequently travelled from Singapore, where the couple was based, to test the waters in India and other international markets. Having realized that handling a brand from an overseas location was next to impossible, she let go of her comfortable career in Singapore and moved back to India to devote all her time and energy to Just Herbs. From initially intending to be merely a moral and back-end support to Arush, Megha quickly emerged as a dynamic front-force in the business; owing to her thriving interest in and attachment to the brand. She helped her husband in overcoming the uncountable struggles of building a brand from scratch, along with accomplishing her own duties and commitments towards it in her role as the Brand’s co-founder & Director. Over the last few years, Megha has faced a lot of challenges into ensuring that Just Herbs becomes the brand that she envisioned it to be. Being devoid of a Science background, Megha had to work very hard to get herself accustomed to Ayurvedic practices and its ingredients and get an in-depth knowledge of what goes into making the products.
SPECIAL She felt that it was important to know her products to their core in order to sell them and Megha left no stone unturned to gain expertise in the production process of the entire Just Herbs’ range. Leaving a stable income and becoming an entrepreneur was a hard call as Arush and Megha didn’t draw their salaries in initial couple of years of starting Just Herbs. Moreover, due to the dismissive outlook of international distributers towards Indian brands, Megha had to struggle really hard in getting Just Herbs placed on various selling platforms. Eventually, the duo decided to become the Just Herbs brand distributers themselves.
A major breakthrough and achievement for Megha was when she managed to get her products placed on Sephora.com, thereby making Just Herbs the first Indian brand to be placed on the prestigious beauty and personal care e-commerce giant in seven Asian markets. Furthermore, she herself started selling Just Herbs’ products on television in the US & UK on home shopping network, as the Tele commerce companies felt that she was selling them far better than their own salespersons! It was another successful stint that received massive response and sales. Later, she engineered the sale of Just Herbs products on the Jet Airways international circuit as well as in duty-free shops at major Indian airports. Megha’s most significant entrepreneurial victory was when she orchestrated the creation and launch of India’s first-ever ‘crowd sourced’ beauty product. The Herb-Enriched Skin Tint by Just Herbs was the country’s maiden beauty product that was crafted entirely out of a tedious customer feedback process spanning over 8 months. Megha received a magnanimous response and well-deserved applause for her efforts and there has been no looking back ever since. Megha always abides by her management mantra of ‘Never Say Die’. She believes that no client is big or small and no opportunity is easy or rare. She loves to tackle each and every situation with the same zeal and vigour and stay firm on her commitments no matter how grave the situation is. She holds ambitious plans for the future of Just Herbs in the international market. Within next 5 years Megha wants to set up 2-3 Just Herbs exclusive stores in all metros and tier-2 cities, as part of her aspiring retail pilot project. She is of the view that consumers are increasingly becoming well-aware of what they buy, so a company should strictly adhere to its brand ethos. Being in the beauty industry for a few years, Megha now realizes the glaring loopholes it carries, and is setting an example by introducing various customer- oriented innovations in her approach. Change can’t be brought overnight, but Megha Sabhlok’s story is a testimony to the fact that if efforts are strategically complemented by determination and hard work; it can be brought fast enough.

Annual check-ups are definitely an important tool to screen the population, to identify the risky ones, and give them appropriate medical attention, as necessary. By having good nutrition it will help you maintain a healthy weight, reduce body fat, provide your body with energy, promote good sleep and generally make you feel better. To get the proper nutrition from your diet, you should consume the majority of your daily calories in: Fresh fruits, Fresh vegetables, Whole grains, Legumes, Nuts & Lean proteins. Do supplements for nutrition help a person’s health in this fast paced world? If you don’t eat a nutritious food, some supplements might help you get adequate amounts of essential nutrients. However, supplements can’t take the place of the variety of foods that are important to a healthy diet. Eg, calcium and vitamin D are important for keeping bones strong and reducing bone loss; folic acid decreases the risk of certain birth defects and omega-3 fatty acids from fish oils might help some people with heart disease.

CuppingAllTherapy Your Queries Answered What is Cupping Therapy? Cupping Therapy might be trending now, but it’s not new. It dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. For something that began as an ancient superstition, this bloodletting concept has quite a few advantages of an alternative medication today. It involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. The suction may facilitate healing with blood flow by removing the impure/ dirty and unnecessary blood from the body. In China, Taoists believe that cupping helps balance yin and yang, or the negative and positive, within the body. In Saudi, Arabians call this the Hijama therapy and believe that the therapy was declared by the Prophet, to be the best of medication for 72 illnesses. Cupping Treatment Procedure- Our Personal Experience: To give you the best insight to the treatment, we personally experienced the therapy session at the ‘Arabian Hijama Cupping Therapy Centre’ located in Banjara Hills. The therapists here are specialists in therapies since 10-12 years. The process involves placing a disposable plastic or silicon cup against a person’s skin. Then, a partial vacuum is generated in the cup. They do this, so the bad blood gets sucked into the skin and accumulates at different points. After this, the cup is removed and a small incision is made by the therapist to draw the impure blood. The cup is then placed back on the body to pull out the toxic blood, acids and excess fluids from the body. Sounds simple and painless right? Well, it really is exactly how it sounds. Once the session is completed, you will be left feeling fresh and stress free minus the marks on the body. But worry not; the scarring is are bound to vanish in just 5 days! The best part about this centre is that they have both male and female specialists who treat you in accordance to your issues. What Conditions Can Cupping Therapy Treat? Cupping has been used to treat a wide variety of conditions. At the Arabian Hijama Cupping Therapy Centre, treatments are available for conditions like: Thyroid, Uric acid, Anxiety, Depression, Menstrual Problems, PCOD, Joint pains, Migrane, Sinus, Fistula, Gaut, High Cholestrol, Hair loss, Sleeping problem, Hypertension, Kidney Stones, Allergies, Chest pain, Weight loss, Menopause, Arthritis etc. They also specialise in Facial Therapies for Fairness, Glow, Acne, Blemishes, Eye bags and Anti Aging.

Mrs. & Mr. Syed Ameenuddin are expert and certified Cupping Therapists from Saudi Arabia. They are masters of a special 18 month course that includes 35 modules of cupping therapy. Mr. Syed opted for this course in the United Kingdom whereas his wife opted for the same from Saudi Arabia. We personally met with them to bring clarity to all the queries you have about cupping therapy, dear readers! Why should people opt for cupping therapy? Cupping is for pain relief. Relief from pain and discomfort is one of the main objectives why people opt for cupping therapy. The benefits of cupping include local pain relief and muscle relaxation. Cupping helps the tissue develop new blood flow and causes anti-inflammatory chemicals in the body. Is the procedure painful? It looks painful but it really is not. How many sessions does it require? We don’t normally prescribe the frequency of Hijama cupping. Some people like to come every month, some every three months, some every six months and some every year. We leave it to you to decide how it best fits in with your personal regime Does it leave marks on the body and are they permanent? The marks will disappear in 5 to 6 days. Is there any age limit to get the cupping therapy done? Cupping Therapy can be done for a 4 year old kid upto a 75 year old person. This depends on the immune and not on the age. It is not
recommended for very old people who are extremely skinny. Is it hygienic? It is extremely hygienic. Cupping therapy is a technique that is to be done with utmost care and stress on hygiene. All cups and scalpels used during a session will be disposed off before the next session. Are there any side effects involved? If your therapist is professional, there are no side effects involved. Can you see visible differences after the session? Yes, you can see glow on the face, feel energetic and light weighted. How long does a session usually last? It lasts for not more than 30-40 mins. Is there anything to be done before coming to the session? Yes, you will have to stop eating atleast 3 hrs before the session. Liquids can be taken. How is your cupping centre different from that of others? Arabian Hijama Cupping Therapy Centre is run by certified therapists. We have well experienced cupping therapists from Saudi Arabia. We have been doing since 2006. Our clinic is scientifically equipped with modern devices and ultra hygiene and has a homely or spa kind of environment. However, when his mother’s (Swaroop Sampat) Alzheimer starts progessing rapidly, he bids goodbye to his border adventures and requests for a transfer to an army base in the Capital so that he can spend some time with her. Alita- Battle Angel This movie based on the Japanese manga series Gunnm by Yukito Kishiro. Incidentally, its protagonist shares the same concerns as that of that another Japanese export to Hollywood, Ghost In The Shell. And like the Ghost In The Shell, this film too has been accused of ‘whitewashing’ its origins. Though it isn’t as complex or deals with philosophical queries like Ghost... Whatever the case maybe, the film is part superhero origin story, part crosscultural romance and part coming-of-age story. And this mix of genres is both its strength and paradoxically its weakness as well.

BOOKS On the come up by Angie Thomas
This honest and unflinching story of toil, tears, and triumph is a musical love letter that proves literary lightning does indeed strike twice. Thomas’ (The Hate U Give, 2017) sophomore novel returns to Garden Heights, but while Brianna may live in Starr’s old neighborhood, their experiences couldn’t differ more. Raised by a widowed mother, a recovering drug addict, Bri attends an arts school while dreaming of becoming a famous rapper, as her father was before gang violence ended his life. Her struggles within the music industry and in school highlight the humiliations and injustices that remain an indelible part of the African-American story while also showcasing rap’s undeniable lyrical power as a language through which to find strength.
I owe you one by Sophie Kinsella
An IOU from a cute stranger gets complicated in this fun story about family, loyalty, and taking charge of your own life. Fixie Farr, as her nickname suggests, has always loved to fix things. Most of her fixing is confined to her family’s West London store, Farr’s, which she’s run with her mother since her father’s death. Her siblings, Jake and Nicole, are mostly useless, and Fixie knows it’s up to her to protect her dad’s legacy. When she’s at a coffee shop one day, a man asks her to watch his laptop. While he’s away, the ceiling above his table caves in, and Fixie can’t stop herself from leaping into danger to save the computer. Shocked by her willingness to save the day at the risk of her own safety, the laptop’s owner, Seb, promises her a favor and writes an IOU on a coffee sleeve. Fixie never intends to cash in the favor— after all, she doesn’t know Seb at all, and she’s perfectly capable of handling everything herself—until the love of her life, Ryan, needs a job. Ryan was Jake’s best friend growing up, and Fixie’s had an enormous crush on him her whole life, even after he moved to LA to become a movie producer. But now he’s back in London, and she wants him to stay…so she musters up the courage to contact Seb and redeem the IOU for a job for Ryan. However, it turns out that she and Seb aren’t quite done with each other, and they keep finding more opportunities to owe each other favors. As Fixie tries to work out her feelings for Seb, assert herself to her siblings, and save her family’s store, will she finally be able to stop fixing other people’s lives and start focusing on her own? Kinsella (Surprise Me, 2018, etc.) creates a charming story full of quirky characters and laugh-out-loud dialogue. Fixie is a likable character, one readers will root for as she learns to take control of her own life.
A Curse So Dark And Lonely By Brigid Kemmerer:
A cursed prince and a high school dropout become unlikely allies in this ambitious “Beauty and the Beast” adaptation. Harper’s life in Washington, D.C., hasn’t been easy: Her mother is dying of cancer, and her father’s only legacy is the loan sharks her brother Jake works for to pay off his debts. Harper, who has cerebral palsy, is standing lookout for Jake when she sees a man carrying an unconscious woman. Harper intervenes—and is magically transported to Emberfall, a kingdom abandoned by its rulers and beset by both a mysterious beast and attacks from a neighboring country. She meets blond Prince Rhen, who reveals that the beast killed his family. He believes falling in love is the only way to save his kingdom, and his guard commander travels to Harper’s universe to find matches for him. Harper doesn’t buy it. Rather than acquiesce to fate, she calls Rhen’s attention to more immediate, practical actions they can take to protect his kingdom. The book follows a white default for main characters, although Jake’s boyfriend is black and Harper’s best friend in Emberfall has brown skin. Refreshingly, Harper is the undisputed hero and also not the only significant character with a disability. Avoiding disability inspiration tropes, she is a fallible, well-rounded character who fights for the vulnerable and resists being labeled as such herself despite how others perceive her.
