She like to think big, channel her effort and energy towards it and motivate to win.

What is a typical day like in your life?

I follow a time management system that not only helps me get things done but also prioritises my personal and family time. I like to start each day by going over my schedule and answering emails. I try to finish my MITs at the beginning of the day. My day revolves around pursuing my entrepreneurial goals, while also trying to create an online presence through my Instagram stories, posts and collaborations. I like to end my day by spending time with my pets on a grateful positive note. Each day is a new blessing!

LIFESTYLE | How did you get into finance and how much it helped you build your career in it?

Financial literacy is a basic life skill and a need to know. After completing my MBA in Finance, and getting deep insight and practical experience in this field, I started my career as a Financial Analyst and I have never looked back.

There are myriad options that only increase as you gain more education and on-the-job experience. The finance industry is a vital, fast-paced and continually evolving area. When it comes to careers in finance, it is up there as one of the most covetable industries.

What do you do in your leisure time?

This depends on my mood and energy levels. On some days I feel great and try to organise something, work on home improvement, plan for the week, cook or just go for a drive. However, on other days, if I am tired, That’s the time I just play with and pamper my dogs, listen to some music, watch a documentary movie while sipping on iced lemonade, spend time with friends and family, practice self-care or play on the play station.

You have a good following on your Instagram how did you build the audience?

Building an audience or getting my followers to count up high was never the goal for me. I have always enjoyed sharing my passion and bits of my daily life and I think it’s the like-minded people that tagged along the way. Instagram is a very powerful tool, has really opened up the space of interacting and I’m blessed to have a healthy circle.

What inspires and motivates you?

My inspiration comes from autonomy, the desire to direct my own life and my own thoughts. There is an old myth that our body acts as we think. So, think big and motivate yourself to win.

What’s on your bucket list to do?

Right now, travelling is one thing I badly want to check off my list! I think travelling to Tromso, Norway to go dogsledding and watching the northern lights, attending a live F1 race and unwind and relax in a warm Costa Rica hot spring is on my sight. Hoping that the pandemic allows.

Rapid Fire If you are given a genie and have to make 2 wishes what will you wish?

To be omniscient and omnipotent What’s your daily dose of happiness?

My two huskies, never fail to make my day.

If you are left in a supermarket and asked to pick up only 3 things what would you pick?

Honey Mustard Pringles, Godiva mini pearls and Fanta Strawberry.

Food or Gym? Food If you are allowed to commit one mischievous crime what would you do?

Steal a Buggati Divo and drive it around.

If you are paired opposite to your favourite male actor who it would be and what will be the name of the movie?

I try as hard as I can to not play favourites in any art form. I’d choose a role over an actor. I know this title is already taken but mine would be The Sixth Sense. I've been told I am very intuitive or Gone in 60 seconds as I have a personal rule to never let any annoying bounties drag me down for longer than sixty seconds.

Amongst everything that we tried, Chilli Paneer, Veg Manchurian, Chilli Honey Potato, Burnt Garlic Fried Rice and Schezwan noodles tasted the best.

It’s that time of the year again when expressions of affection and love fill the air.

As we delve into the Valentine’s month, it brings along with it an imminent arrival of all things red and pink, flowers, chocolate boxes, champagne, an overdose of heart-eye emojis and the usual. Although, with a change in the times each year, people’s approach towards this day has also changed, some having a more adventurous plan for the day, like wanting to try a sport that gives them an adrenaline boost; some wanting a tranquil getaway for spiritual purposes; signing up for fun, quirky classes together; or just spending the day with people in desperate need of some love, like old age homes or orphanages or pet homes. Valentine’s Day is all about spreading love and a day when you can take your relationship and turn it into something special. If you’re not in a relationship, then spend your time with your close friends and do something special for them. After all, there is no love purer than friendship.

Valentine’s Day is historically celebrated in the name of a certain mysterious patron, Saint Valentine. There are a ton of legends surrounding who he was and how this day came to be, but boy, are we glad that it somehow came into existence! Tanya: Minash has the most sarcastic sense of humour that I absolutely love.

Minash: Tanya can be the biggest drama queen ever.

What are some things you do to keep your relationship growing?

We challenge each other constantly, be it at work, in the gym or simply figuring things out for our future. We are very driven individuals and the friendly completion to outdo each other helps us stay at the top of our respective games.

If you could change one thing about each other what would it be?

Absolutely nothing!

With both of you having a busy schedule how do you find time to spend exclusively with each other?

It’s not that difficult since we’re business partners, we manage some quality time through the week and over the weekends too!

Are there any changes in the two of you after marriage?

Not really, we never believed in the idea of marriage but now that we are married we tend to cherish and appreciate both the ups and downs that come with the terrain.

Tell us something about you guys as a couple that nobody else knows?

We are literally the same people in two different bodies. We think, act and sometimes finish each other sentences, which is freak every now and then.

One memory from the wedding that will stay with you forever?

Minash: Tanya walking down the aisle will forever be a highlight in my life.

Tanya: Minash and I laughing and enjoying every moment of our wedding!

What is the one thing that you will never compromise on in marriage?

I think staying honest and telling each other the hard truth is always something that we are going to stand by, this will allow us to protect and safeguard our relationship.

Share small adventures! We always say sorry when we are wrong, it’s very important to accept your mistake and apologise as you grow closer in the relationship. We remind each other why we fell in love, the days we get upset. We make sure to make each other a part of our life by discussing our work, friends etc. The most important- we are always transparent to each other.

Sadhna, what was your first impression of Nimit when you first met him?

I met him first at a wedding in Hyderabad. I was introduced to him by a friend and I thought wow what attitude this man has to not show me any interest lol. I was probably the hottest girl at that party ;-) If you could change one thing about each other what would it be?

After five years of loving each other, we doubt there is anything we both want to change about each other.

With both of you having a busy schedule how do you find time to spend exclusively with each other?

Oh, it’s been very difficult to spend time in the last two years because of work but he is the best guy I could ask for. He flies down to the city I am shooting in so that we can spend time together.

Sadhna is not just beautiful outside but inside too and that’s how I ended up with her! I love her for the reason that she is very giving.

We are crazy mad people - we need no tv no people no entertainment when we are together - we are a world in ourselves. We can’t remember a trip where we ever got bored for a second and switched on tv - we have so much to talk to each other about.

We make sure we spend some time together, he travels a lot for work, so whenever we get time we step out, we have a 9-month-old daughter now. So for us, every day is a new day and Experience.

Of course, we have become wiser, priorities changes, sense of responsibility increases.

So when we had our Jai mala, We were on a hydraulic stage, so when we were going up I was holding him and we were laughing, I told him I’m not going to move as I’m wearing 5” stilettos and he was like yes please don’t move as just last week I was seeing a video of the couple falling off the stage, we just kept laughing.

A common friend introduced us on various occasions. We both spoke not knowing what the future had in store for us. We both took it slow as we were coming out of a different phase and were hesitant. But then with time, cupid struck us all over again. Every time we spoke there was a lot more to know about each other.

How do you feel like a power couple?

We wouldn’t want to tag ourselves as a power couple. We just want to be us. Do all that we can for our families, concentrate on us and our life ahead and be there for our friends always.

What is the quirkiest factor you like about each other?

The quirkiest topic for us is food! We are literal opposites when it comes to our meals. And we always end up pulling each other’s leg on this always. Rahul need fulls meals and it just can’t be anything! it has to be tasty, whereas for me I can survive on water happily.

What are some things you do to keep the relationship growing?

To keep a relationship steady and upward - open communication is very important and that’s what we do. Everything is a two-way decision. At the end of the day, we talk! All about each other day, feelings how xyz things went. Etc. There is no hidden chapter. Everything is openly spoken about.

If you could change one thing about each other what would it be?

Rahul: The main thing I want her to change is that I want her to gain some weight and eat everything that I do. She is so social and always out at the latest food stops in the city but barely eats!

What is the point going then?

Priyanka: Rahul is a semi introvert, he doesn’t care much about parties, fashion and social life in general. He can enter a formal event also in his shorts! He lives in his shorts! And I take a while to dress up for a pyjama night also.

With both of you having a busy schedule how do you find time to spend exclusively with each other?

Both of us are busy with our work all through the week. So middle of a hectic schedule if someone looks out for you or does something to make you feel special it really brings a smile on your face and rings a bell in your heart. So we keep the spark on and find happiness through small gestures.

Priyanka talks her heart. She is blunt and straightforward.

I think we have changed a lot after marriage. We have been used to living with parents and got everything on a platter.

We both met on Tinder, in Hyderabad, back in 2019. It was love at first swipe!

How do you feel like a power couple?

Don’t know about “PowerCouple”, but we feel elated and so grateful to God every single day to have found one another. We are both very proud of the strong relationship we’ve nurtured over the last three years. We make a conscious decision each day to show appreciation towards each other and are proud of one another for the people we are and strive to be, Our bond is palpable to our family and friends, who are ever so appreciative of what we’ve built together. Shona, what was your first impression of Ankur when you first met him?

On our first date, we met for dinner at 10D Gachibowli. I thought Ankur was a very serious and reserved guy, and that he may be didn’t like me because he was wary and quiet. He told me later that night on a video call that he was just really nervous and didn’t want to say anything that would offend me or make me uncomfortable because he apparently felt “love at first sight” and really wanted a positive answer by the end of the date. We spoke for 8 hours later that night on call, and I knew then that he was different from any man I had ever met and that there was definitely a lot of chemistry between us! Those were the building blocks that laid the blueprint for something beautiful to come!

Shona is the kind of person who can come across as a very daedalianed and strong personality, to such an extent that she shines quite brightly in a room full of people because she is beautiful inside out. When I met her for the first time , naturally I was overwhelmed and didn’t want to take any wrong turns , but what I started knowing about her every passing moment and day is what made me fall for Shona! Her ardent love towards me , dedication towards the relationship and many more qualities that I’l skip for now, except for this - her downright honesty to such an extent that it’s sometimes comical!

Marriage is a whole different ball game from dating, because it takes a lot of adjustment to one another, our families, our lifestyles and schedules. We’ve definitely become much more responsible, accommodating and loving as individuals.

Army life and training can really toughen a man up to the point of him becoming indifferent to emotions. So when Ankur confided in me that I had transformed his life for the better and reignited his soul and emotions, it meant the world to me. It’s not everyday that a man calls you his inspiration and priority, and also his best friend in life. These are the dearest utterances to me from my husband.

We water it regularly, just kidding. We push each other to be better humans first, listen to each other but never enforce, enjoy small activities together, and never even by mistake put each other down.

If you could change one thing about each other what would it be?

Hurmat: How he avoids the gym, I’m going to make him change it this year Vardaan: Hurmat can get anxious sometimes for little things, maybe that.

With both of you having a busy schedule how do you find time to spend exclusively with each other?

We make time, usually, after a long day, we spend at least half an hour talking

if not doing something together. On days where we are extremely packed, we might get a coffee or grab a bite in whatever short break we get. Either she comes to my office or I got to hers.

I actually fell for the dimples first. Turns out she’s this fun ball of energy with a heart that feels deeply. And I find that inspiring.

Vardaan: I’ve learned a lot of things from her along the way like I’m more responsible now.

Hurmat: I’m a calmer person with far more patience now. I have learnt and grown in this marriage.

Being away from each other a lot of time gives us space to grow personally. We absolutely love what we do in our professions, Ravi is a hard worker, I’m so proud of the efforts he has put and become what he is now and whenever he does well in his matches and whenever I land a big campaign we celebrate it well together and keep motivating each other to do better.

What are some things you do to keep your relationship growing?

As we are mostly in the long-distance we try to get over smaller misunderstandings, let the little things go, communicate our feelings better, understand that it’s equally tough for both of us to be away and whenever we meet we make up for lost time and catch up on things we missed doing together.

He is a perfect gentleman. He is one of the nicest people, has the most amazing heart and is always grounded. I loved his simplicity!

So recently he was away for matches for a really long time, so I flew down to Pondicherry to surprise him and spent a week with him. We try to meet each other as much as we can and spend time together, even if he is playing matches or he even comes down to my shoot it really feels good just being together. We just enjoy these small moments.

She is someone who loves with all her heart. She is extremely caring, will go the extra mile to make you happy. She is extremely bubbly and being around her makes me happy.

Getting married made us fall in love with each other even more. We enjoy roasting each other, laughing over it.

Meenakshi is someone who balances everything out so well, she works really hard professionally and at the same time also fills in my absence at home by making sure my parents are never bored. I’m really lucky to have her as my wife. She is a real girl boss and I’m so proud of her.

The best things Meenakshi has told me have been whenever I felt low and hadn’t performed on the field up to the mark. She has constantly been pushing me to do better and reminding me of my capabilities. We don’t think there’s a secret formula to that but communication for sure. We share our goals and ambitions together and work together to achieve them.

Apart from busy schedules, we live on different continents right now. We try to squeeze time and prioritize each other. Aqib usually comes to India to spend quality time together and we also did a trip where we met in the Maldives. Also, recently after we got done with our wedding event we went on our second honeymoon to Paris.

“We often get so busy with our lives, it almost is like we need to remind ourselves that we come first and need to look after ourselves. For the most part, taking time out for myself came to me naturally, be it going to the gym and investing time in getting fit or eating healthy and sleeping well. The pandemic did change the way our lives function and suddenly it felt like we had all this time to see how we really are spending our time and how much of it is really dedicated to ourselves. Owing to the pandemic, I have become careful and diligent towards how I look after myself physically and mentally. I have paid attention to what makes me feel good and now I just ensure I give myself the time and care it needs to feel rejuvenated and mentally peaceful every day. Starting with working out, I used to enjoy going to the gym every day, so even during the lockdown, I signed up for classes and take an hour or so out to do that. I used to binge while watching TV shows which really made me feel terrible after, so now I practise mindful eating and spending that time changing that habit has helped me a lot. I have made it to a point to learn a new language and read every day. I get motivated when I learn something new or read a good book. I guess for me work takes up a lot of time but I haven’t let that eat into my personal time and having that love for yourself to take a couple of hours of “me time” makes a massive difference in how you feel mentally and physically. The mantra is to just spend time with yourself to really get to know what makes you feel good!”

In this month of love, we talk about the confession of love but we often seem to ignore the small cracks in our relationships.

We seem to dismiss all the warning signs in a relationship until it leads to heartbreak. In this interesting conversation with Dr Zainab Saleem Naikoo, we discuss some important factors surrounding relationships.

Dr Zainab Saleem Naikoo is a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist and she specialises in Marital and Couple Counseling. She has many research papers published as well, Rise of Divorce In Sunni community (2019), PCOD and Self-esteem issues (2020), Covid anxiety in Students (2020) and Infidelity in Relationship (2021). She is the Head of the Dept, Dept Of Psychology at St.Ann's College for Women, Hyderabad. She also works as a Clinical Psychologist at Lifeline Hospital.

Why is intimacy important and what role does it play in a couple’s relationship?

Intimacy is a feeling that one has when they trust and love someone like no other. It is the ability to let someone in through kissing, holding hands, cuddling, and skin-to-skin touching. Intimacy helps couples to cultivate the habit of closeness. Emotional intimacy can be one of the most important factors of a relationship.

A big part of intimacy is sharing your thoughts, feelings and listening to your partner. Intimacy is important in a relationship because it brings couples close and their bond grows stronger it brings a sense of security in the relationship and sexual desires are also fulfilled.

Why do couples over the years tend to lose intimacy?

It helps couples to connect and develop trust and faith in a relationship. Also, communication does not mean you taunt your partner, yell or shout at your spouse, compare them with others or nag when they are back home from a long day.

Effective and formal communication should be used to strengthen relationships. Couples have to be more respectful towards each other, they have to be more specific to the problem, have face to face conversations rather than texting. They have to be tolerant and not be defensive all the time.

Is it true that stress can cause damage to a relationship? If so, how does stress affect a relationship?

Yes, stress can cause 100% damage to the relationship. Some of the major causes can be, children, finances, personal trauma, work commitment, and new changes in life.

How important is it for a couple to understand each other’s mental health issues?

As an adult in a relationship, you are in charge of your mental health.

Sometimes your significant other suffer silently and sometimes it can get really difficult to talk openly about any mental health issue. But if you see your partner isolating, zoning out, not paying attention, concentrating on himself or herself, loss of appetite or change in mood. You must communicate and see what is bothering them.

Significant others can play an integral role in aiding the mentalhealth healing of their partner by showing compassion and care to communicate and be attentive to your partner. Listen to them carefully.

What is codependency in a relationship? Is it important for a couple to establish codependency?

Codependent relationships occur when each partner abdicates responsibility for themselves. Generally, one partner is the "taker" while the other is the "caretaker," although these roles can switch depending on the issue. No, it's not important to establish codependency in a relationship it can cause ego and self-esteem issues in the relationship.

What steps should a couple take if their partner exhibits anger issues and other similar issues?

These are the most important steps couples can take.

1. Compassion and Patience It is important to understand the more vulnerable emotions that anger is hiding, such as fear, hurt, sadness, or pain. Likely, your partner is not able to safely access these emotions or address them. How can couples patch their relationship after a rough fight?

The first step toward the resolution of conflict is the acceptance of the fact that fights and arguments are a part of every relationship.

1. Say sorry A sincere, heartfelt apology is one of the basic and simplest things you can do to resolve a fight.

2. Shower them with love Fights can instil doubts about one’s decision to be with their partner.

3. Prioritise your relationship Prioritising your relationship and partner is one of the best ways to repair the damage caused by a big fight.

4. Avoid giving cold shoulder to your partner It is natural to need some time to calm down after a fight. It helps you gather your thoughts and understand the situation at hand.

Lastly, a big no to the silent treatment.

Is ownership and apologizing part of a healthy relationship?

Apology always plays a major role in the relationship. Sometimes you have to be the bigger person in the relationship and apologize first because there is no ego in a relationship it's always about love.

Strong, Fit & Fierce Fouzia Syed is a renowned Nutritionist with a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and an ISSA certified personal trainer. She is an IDA member, who specializes in treating PCOS, Thyroid and other clinical ailments. She currently works as a functional trainer at F45 for the past 4 years and takes both online and offline personal training sessions. She has been a part of this industry for around 10 years but active for the past 6 years. She started her journey as an Aerobics instructor. Apart from juggling work and motherhood, she is pursuing further studies for acquiring the ACSM certification.

Q. How have you managed to keep people motivated and engaged during pandemic situations?

During the pandemic gyms and other public spaces were shut down.

Hence, I worked diligently towards increasing my outreach on nutrition and fitness for people via my Instagram handle-@coach.fouziasyed. To keep people motivated and engaged, I had formulated squat challenges and other fitness challenges which was thoroughly enjoyed by many. I had been uploading recipes, conducting a free training class for people. I had also introduced people to various home workout ideas with minimal equipment; encouraging them to create their own mini gyms at home.

Q. What motivated you to start your fitness journey and become a coach? Was it easy to become a fitness coach?

I had always been interested in fitness and sports; badminton, cricket was my favourite sport. Working as a nutritionist, dealing with postpartum weight and other health issues myself, I came across many women who struggled with maintaining their fitness. During that time, there was a high demand for female trainers since the availability was quite less. I realized that to help other people especially women, I had to train myself first. Fitness and nutrition go hand in hand. Being able to channel my knowledge in both fields made me work harder towards establishing myself as a coach. Soon after, F45 happened. Understanding clients and training them efficiently is a greater responsibility than exhausting them.

Building my way up to become a fitness coach was one of the most challenging goals I have accomplished. Today being addressed as a coach is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I am yet to learn more and have a far way to go.

Q. What kept you going and what are your biggest personal achievements so far?

My father has been my role model since childhood. His resilient attitude towards dealing with hurdles in life has been my greatest motivation. His teachings are my backbone of strength which has kept me going despite hurdles. Being recognized as a coach, completing the 10k marathon twice, being able to motivate people towards fitness, overcoming my challenge of being overweight despite having a medical condition such as hypothyroidism; getting back into shape after going through three

surgeries, was never easy to get back into shape after deliveries but my never giving up attitude kept me moving forward no matter what comes in my way, all of them are my biggest personal achievements so far.

Q. Can you mention a few exercises anyone can perform at home?

Burpees, Squats, Wall push-ups, mountain climbers, crunches or cycling, are mostly bodyweight exercises a beginner can start with and if someone has access to the treadmill but I don’t suggest machinery’s much, so these are a few exercises that can be performed at home easily. Starting with a 20-minute walk, one can build a fitness routine and increase their endurance. Stairs are also a good alternative. Many other exercises are safe to be done at home only under the professional supervision of a trainer or coach. Improper posture or other errors while exercises may cause injuries.

Q. Why should fitness be important for everyone regardless of age and gender?

Fitness is not restricted to any age or gender. The workout styles may vary for each, however, it remains a very important part of your life since it helps build muscle strength, increases mobility, keeps you physically active, relieves stress, keeps you motivated and so on.

Fitness is as important as other necessities to ensure the quality of living.

Q. What advice do you give those who wish to begin their fitness journey?

Everything takes time. Learn to listen to your body. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Be consistent towards your goal. Set small achievable goals.

Stress only adds to your obstacles. Pay attention to the nutrition your body requires along with exercise. Keep an eye on your portions. Sleep well.

Keep yourself hydrated. Lastly, keep a positive mindset.

Q. How important is nutrition in all of this? What's your favourite meal you enjoy?

Nutrition plays a very eminent role. Maintaining a balanced diet, mindful eating, hydration is very vital for maintaining fitness. Do not restrict yourself from certain food for a long period. Practice portion control instead. Eat your food in intervals. Be conscious of what you eat. All of this helps you remain consistent with your physical wellbeing and helps you avoid developing any deficiency due to excessive restriction. Dal and rice and every other dish my mother prepare is my absolute favourite meal.

Q. Any tips for everyone to stay consistent with fitness goals?

Don’t be too hard on yourself.

Make realistic and achievable goals. Unrealistic goals would leave you frustrated and demotivated. Start by working out 3 days a week. Gradually increase it to 5. Brisk walk 10 to 15 minutes and increase timings eventually.

Q. What is your perspective on fitness trends and fad diets?

Trends and fad diets end up stressing your body. In the long run, you might end up developing health issues as well. Everybody is unique and has different needs.

Eat a balanced diet unless you are suffering from a medical condition and are provided with a specific diet.

Detoxifying your body by consuming certain juices or food requires a lot of knowledge and should not be continued for an extended amount of time.

Q. Apart from physical benefits, do you think exercise also helps with mental wellbeing?

Exercise is not just about aerobic capacity and muscle size. People who exercise regularly tend to do so because it gives them an enormous sense of well-being. They feel more energetic throughout the day, sleep better at night, have sharper memories, and feel more relaxed and positive about themselves and their lives. They can relieve their stress, set new goals, gain confidence and boost their self-esteem. Exercise also helps maintain mental well-being along with physical wellness.

Where to stay: The Hidden Burrow

Walking to Hidden Burrow is a scenic adventure in itself, with small water puddles, a natural trail, a water bridge, local women soaking the sun with their herd. The treehouse finely blends the comforts and luxuries of modern room with nature in its pristine prime. It overlooks the Himalayas and is surrounded by lush green valleys of oak and pine forests.

The rooms that are at a spacious distance from each other are all unique.

We stayed in a treehouse called Adbhut. It is made of pure deodar wood and situated on a tree. It is a duplex treehouse - a master bedroom with a balcony and an attic with a balcony. It is made in a local Himalayan style i.e., much raw and rustic with a touch of warm lights and glass windows.

Adbhut is perfect for peace and privacy lovers. As it is situated in the middle of trees in the forest. It can accommodate up to 4 people comfortably. Coming to the view – you can see the river flowing in front of you and snow-clad mountains of Jalori Pass at the top and trees everywhere. We spent an entire day at the property, soaking in the sun on the balcony over their rose sharbat and gazing at the stars from the little attic balcony over a hot cup of coffee.

They have an in-house cafe - The Hobbit Cafe, that runs from 8:30 AM to 9 PM, surrounded by the beautiful mass of land that serves as a lawn where you can enjoy your morning tea or play with the dogs in the vicinity. The food and hospitality by local staff are warm, and they leave no stone unturned for your comfort.

Things to do JIBHI WATERFALLS:

The Jibhi waterfalls are located in the middle of the forest, this waterfall falls from a height into a man-made cement pool. This is also a short 30 min hike away from the main Jibhi square. There is also a small wooden bridge that connects two banks of the water stream that emerges from the mountains. It is a perfect place to sit, relax and soak in the beauty of mother nature. The scene of the Jibhi waterfalls and the forest looks like it is straight out of a fairy tale & photos from here will be in the running for your phone’s wallpaper.

CHEHNI KOTHI:

Rumored to be built in the 17th century by King Dhadhu; this towering structure was originally a garrison. The tower is made in the age-old Kullu/Kangri architectural style which uses planks of timber and stone alternately to make a strong and interlocked grid.

It is this very craftsmanship that allowed the tower to withstand the devastating 1904 Kangra earthquake. The tower is now a shrine for Goddess Yogini but it is not permissible to enter inside it.

TRAVEL | JALORI PASS:

Jalori Pass is one of the closest mountain passes from Delhi. Located at a height of 10,236 feet; it is the gateway to some picturesque Himalayan treks like Serolsar Lake, Bajah Top and inside the Great Himalayan National Park. This pass opens up in late March/early April and remains accessible till December. After that, snowfall completely engulfs the area and it is not safe to tread anymore. You can reach Jalori Pass in a private cab from Jibhi or Shoja. It takes about less than an hour to reach the Pass.

The road there is quite treacherous and has many sharp turns and hence it is not recommended to drive there yourself unless you are somewhat of an expert on curvy Himalayan roads. There is a temple dedicated to Jalori Mata and some stalls/shops for food and refreshments near the top.

SEROLSAR LAKE:

A sweet 5 km trek from Jalori Pass, Serolsar Lake is a beautiful high altitude lake at 10,171 feet. The trek route starts ahead of the Jalori Pass and is approachable only on foot. It takes about 2-3 hours to reach the lakeside.

The way to the lake is extremely scenic and dotted with natural wonders that will make your jaw drop. The lake is considered to be mystical and locals claim that the waters have medicinal properties.

Camping is restricted directly around the lake but is possible in the summer months a little further away in the meadows. This trek is easy even for first-time trekkers. If you are a photographer, an overnight campaign will give you a beautiful milky way of the view.

GNHP:

The gigantic Great Himalayan National Park is one of India’s biggest and most wellendowed biodiversity ecospheres in terms of square footage, flora & fauna and scenery. It is spread over a whopping 754 km sq. and has an altitude ranging from 4921 feet to a great 19685 feet. It was established in 1984 and added to the World Heritage Sites of UNESCO in 2014. The entire park is home to more than 25,000 species of plants and more than 350 species of fauna.
