George Ezra, has been forced to pay royalties from his smash-hit Shotgun, last year’s third best-selling song, after a little-known Irish singer accused him of copying the tune. Derek Ryan, 35, will get seven-and-a-half per cent of the income from the tune after the singer said the song was similar to his 2014 tune Flowers In Your Hair. Ezra, 25, insisted he had never heard of Derek’s song before penning Shotgun in a Barcelona apartment. But his lawyers agreed to pay Derek royalties in a secret deal. GOT star needed therapy! Game Of Thrones star, Kit Harington has revealed the ups and downs of starring in Game of Thrones and says he needed therapy. The 32-year-old actor, who plays character Jon Snow, says filming the final season left him ‘frayed’ and ‘vulnerable’. Speaking to Variety, the Brit actor has said he had many of his own issues to deal with, while taking on the character alongside the Game of Thrones cast. He said: “It wasn’t a very good time in my life. One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson is ‘distraught’ after the death of his younger sister Félicité, which comes just two years after the death of his beloved mother Johannah Deakin. Cardi B is hitting the big screen for the first time! The “Bodak Yellow” rapper will make her feature film debut joining Lili Reinhart, Constance Wu and Jennifer Lopez in the upcoming Hustlers movie. Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer and Mercedes Ruehl will also be in the cast, while Mette Towley and Trace Lysette are in negotiations. The movie is inspired by a 2016 New York Magazine article and follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients. Katie Price is being forced to pay creditors more than £12,000 a month as she desperately tries to clear her debts. The 40-year-old star was previously ordered to pay back 41 per cent of her total debt of £2.1million and now her monthly payments have been revealed. Over the course of five years, Katie will eventually pay off £856,358 if she sticks to the order. In the first year the mother-of-five must pay back £12,302.25 a month; £12,332.81 a month in the second year; £14,363.37 in the third; £15,296.44 in the fourth; and £16,068.36 in the fifth. An agreement with her creditors means if she hasn’t kept up with her payments after four years, her ninebedroom mansion will be forcibly put up for auction to cover the debts. He wrote on Twitter: “Thank you everyone for all your messages of support, I’m feeling much better now and on the mend - and also a huge thank you to all the hospital staff for doing a superb job.” Billboard reported that nurses are monitoring him closely for any signs of complications following the minimally invasive op. Surgeons at the New YorkPresbyterian Hospital were able to fit a catheter to repair the faulty valve without having to open up his chest, friends said. A rolling stone gathers no moss!

And Britney’s ex-husband Kevin Federline has praised her for seeking mental health treatment, his attorney says. Especially for a woman in the industry who is trying to speak out against sexism. Thankfully, women now have the platforms, to address the wide-ranging inequalities in Hollywood on and off the screen. “It’s a conversation that Hollywood has never had before,” she told the magazine. “It feels like we’re all kind of catching up.” “Some people felt I should talk about my personal struggle in order to shed a spotlight on the greater issue. Maybe I’m being presumptuous, but I assumed it was obvious that women in all positions struggle for equality. It’s always an uphill battle and fight. My experience with my close female friends and family is that the struggle is real for everybody. Everyone has been discriminated against or harassed—sexism is real.” Johansson also isn’t afraid to vice her political beliefs “I believe that it is really important to hear

people in various positions of power voice their opinions, their story. Why not? Why can’t I have the voice? Why can’t I use my platform? What’s the point of having it if you don’t use it? If you don’t want to get involved, please, the noise is loud enough. But if you’ve got something to say, say it. But at 34, Johansson seems wiser, and more focused than ever. She is less bothered by the trappings of her celebrity and more focused on being a great mother and continuing to tackle “risky” projects like playing an alien in “Ghost in a Shell”. Time, as the saying goes, flies when you’re having fun. And in the case of The Boardwalk, Kara Caradas and her enthusiastic team must be having way too much fun, as it only seems like yesterday that

the restaurant opened. “We’re in our fifth season”, Kara informs me “Does time fly when you’re having fun? Doesn’t it just!”, she smiles. The management and staff have taken their traditional break to recharge and reboot and in the meantime the restaurant has been renovated with a clean and fresh look, including a new floor. What hasn’t changed, however, is Kara’s determination to make The Boardwalk one of the most welcoming and most popular restaurants in Marbella. “We have the same team this year and we’ve added some new faces which shows where we are as a company” she explains “and we’ve won the Best Restaurant Award two years in a row, so we must be doing something right!” Kara tells me the secret behind The Boardwalk’s success “I think the special thing about The Boardwalk is that we are a family restaurant, but you can have a party here as well. The fact that The Boardwalk is such a child friendly restaurant is an important factor in its success. “People can come with their children and know that they can relax and have a good time,” says Kara. “We always make a big fuss of the children, and the parents don’t feel uncomfortable when their children get up and run around, because we don’t make them feel uncomfortable. “As well as this, because we keep the same staff, which is unusual for most restaurants in Marbella, we remember people when they come back and it makes people feel part of The Boardwalk, which I think is important. “On top of that we haven’t skyrocketed our prices on cocktails. We are reasonably priced, we have cider on draught this year, the drinks are high quality, it’s all fresh and that all adds to the atmosphere!” This season sees old favourites remaining on the menu as well as some exciting new dishes, including a new Halloumi burger for vegetarians, a complete redesign of the wraps and rolls, including a Thai Red Prawn Wrap, with other new dishes including risotto, rack of lamb and Moorish lamb skewers, whilst desserts include Banoffee pie, cheesecake of the week (and that gets my vote every

Kara just how good the food was! To go into great detail about the fabulous array of food that we enjoyed would probably take the rest of the magazine, but we started with the Super Salad - Quinoa, Finely Diced Onion, Cucumber, Tomato, Celery, Mango and Feta Cheese with a lemon Confit on a bed of guacamole with a lemon juice and honey emulsion, and the Salmon Tartare - Diced Salmon, Shallots, Lemon Confit, Chives and Capers served with a mascarpone and orange sauce. Both dishes were beautifully presented and tasted divine. The Moorish Lamb Skewers followed these - and they were very moreish! – a sinfully spicy Pizza Diablo - Grilled Halloumi Burger, served with fresh sliced tomato, lettuce and caramelised onion, a beautifully tasty Herb Crusted Rack of lamb, a Stuffed Fillet of Dover Sole – with mushroom duxelles accompanied by creamy mashed potato and diced seasonal vegetables with a prawn, mussel and cream white wine sauce and finally a delicious Traditional Fish & Chips – served with a creamy Tartar Sauce, mushy peas (always a winner in our book) and homemade chunky chips. At this point, I had to dash off (OK, waddle off. Dashing wasn’t really an option) but the rest of the team valiantly enjoyed the deserts including the Jaffa Cake Orange mousse and cheesecake. And we must agree with Kara here, both are to die for! It was a tough job, as they say, but somebody had to do it! With live music on Friday,

Saturday and Sunday, plus a specials menu that changes daily, The Boardwalk continues to keep it fresh and an exciting. A must do date for the diary is Ascot Lady’s Day on June 20. One of the biggest events on The Boardwalk’s busy social calendar, this year they will be raising funds for two young girls who are suffering from cancer. Kara is looking forward to the season for several reasons - the fabulous sunsets, the packed calendar of events and the fact that the waiters are in shorts this year… “It´s mainly a male team this year, so they are all in their little shorts!” laughs Kara “I don’t think they mind as they always seem to get up and dance with the girls!”

I had an epiphany as I was writing this review. And, no, that is not some fabulous, premium spirit laden cocktail at exciting new venue The View, although judging by the skills of barman Ben Steel it could be. No. My epiphany was that Marbella bars and restaurants always seem to trumpet the fact that they have amazing beach or sea views, but I have rarely, if ever, seen a venue that boasts that it has an amazing mountain view. And when you consider, that La Concha, Marbella’s emblematic mountain that towers above the town, and is in part responsible for the great weather that we enjoy (it’s all to do with producing a microclimate, apparently) is one of the most recognisable in Spain, it’s strange that more places don’t make more of it. live music venue in Nueva Andalucía’s Centro Plaza, you get the best of all worlds with stunning mountain, sea and city view over to Marbella itself. nights. “The stand out dishes are the Thai Red Chicken Curry or on the other end of the scale the best sausage and mash that you have ever eaten” continues Deborah. “The wrap is one of the most popular dishes on the menu,” adds Alex “ The main reason behind that is the fact that everything is made totally fresh, and we are going to be working on expanding the wrap menu - offering a beef teriyaki wrap, a chicken cajun wrap, doing something with shrimp, as this is clearly what people want in the area. People speak and we listen. “Meanwhile the cocktail menu is inspired from the West End, San Francisco and Las Vegas – our signature cocktails are what you would see in a swanky West End cocktail bar, as well as a bit of glitz and glam from Vegas and San Francisco.” As soon as the starters arrived, we knew that we were in for something a little bit special. Ziggy was already enjoying her pre-dinner cocktail (“Lots of Wow!”) and when the beautifully presented homemade Thai Fish cakes, with salmon and haddock, served with asparagus

and a tomato and ginger jam– and Asian Duck spring rolls, served with plum sauce, arrived, she exclaimed “The presentation is on point!” Both starters were superb, as was the amazing array of dishes that followed. They included a fabulous Californian Chicken Wrap – Cajun marinated chicken with avocado, lettuce, red pepper, onion and ranch dressing wrap, as well as a brilliant Classic 8oz Beef Burger with smoked bacon, aged Cheddar Cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and served with home cut fries. And then Ziggy tried the Thai Red Chicken Curry. “This is the Best Red Curry that I have ever had”, she said, not a bad recommendation considering she had just returned from Thailand! Breakfasts at The View include a filling full English, Scandinavian – smoked salmon, cream cheese, cucumber, scrambled egg, served on multigrain toast, as well as Eggs Florentine and Eggs Benedict, the latter a plate that looked so amazing that my Goddaughter blurted out “Oh My God!” All desserts are homemade, and the small but perfectly formed list includes a Belgian chocolate mousse, sticky toffee brownie sundae, and a strawberry cheesecake. Open from 9am to 5pm for the kitchen , and 9am to around 8.30pm for the bar, it’s easy to see why The View has become so popular, so quickly. “When people come here, they come back again and again” said Deborah. Ziggy and I liked The View so much that we went back for more the next day. And, trust me, as a freelancing and frequently freebooting writer that NEVER happens!!!

Mum’s the Word Michelin star chef Dani Garcia, who shocked the Marbella gastronomic scene with his decision to close his Puente Romano restaurant shortly after winning his third star, has revealed that his final menu has been inspired by his mother. ‘Madre’ will see some of his most classic combinations from his past 20 years in the kitchen such as ajoblanco with herring. Restaurante Dani Garcia is scheduled to close in December.

Marbella picked up another award in April when Kava restaurant was declared the winner National Championship of Cheese Cakes. (No we didn’t know there was such as thing either. But we love the idea!). Fernando Alcala’s tarta de queso boasts a crisp, toasted outside and creamy centre. “The secret of our cheesecake” Alcala said as he picked up the award at the inaugural edition of the competition held in Gran Canaria “is in the delicious contrast between the toasted exterior and the creamy interior”.

MARBELLA ARENA FLOPS The announcement that Marbella Arena – the former Bull Ring in Nueva Andalucia – was being reformed as an “international concert venue” had the Hot Marbella team buzzing. So to say we were not impressed with the management is putting it mildly. First was the lack of invitations to the English media for the Press Conference when the line up of acts was unveiled. And then there was the line up itself. Promising international acts to be announced later, the only non Spanish performers as we went to press were The Wailers. Somehow we can’t see that one packing out the 5,000 seater venue. Good luck Marbella Arena. Looks like you are going to need it...

BACK FOR A SECOND TIME!

They liked Marbella so much that they are coming back for a second time. Starlite Marbella’s lineup for 2019 includes several artists making a return performance. These include the Beach Boys (July 17), Supertramp’s Roger Hodgson (July 20) Sting – this time without Shaggy (thankfully) on July 23 and Ben Harper with his fantastic live band The Innocent Criminals on July 28. When Starlite works well, and there are a bunch of cava’ed up bimbos taking selfies in the VIP area, it’s one of the best boutique festival in Europe.

Legendary DJ Carl Cox will be playing one of only three gigs in mainland Spain at Mare Nostrum this summer. While he normally takes up residency in Ibiza, the maestro hits town on June 22 with a set that is certain to be one of the events of the season.

Well that was the winter! Summer comes around so quickly, which maybe something to do with the amazing weather that we have had.

started the winter with the aim to get some fitness in my life, but I hate exercise of any kind. My friend, however, invited me to her Gym Health First Studio in La Campana, I thought I was there for some kind of relaxing treatment but she got me there under false pretences and put me in a body suit which was EMS wireless (Electrical muscle stimulation) and decided to train me. This was something else! It was quite hard to describe. The feeling wasn’t pleasant but it wasn’t horrible either although I did have a panic when she asked me to get on a bike, and I haven’t been on a bike since circa 1972!! I can’t tell you the relief if felt when I realised the bike was static! The complete work out lasts 25 minutes and I have to

say I enjoyed it and felt amazing after, everything felt tighter especially by legs and arse. Staying with the exercise theme, I attended a dance class. I love it I have always had aspirations of being a ballroom/Latin dancer. (Everyone knows when I have a few wines I think I’m Beyoncé) It is so difficult remembering steps and moving my feet at the same time, but watch out when TIBU opens you might see me on the dancefloor doing a mean Cha Cha Cha or even a bit of salsa! I had an absolutely fabulous day at Victor’s beach. Everyone knows this is one of my favourite beach bars, I just love the shabby chic of it. I was not sure if it was their birthday or something but they had several DJs playing all day playing some of the best tunes for a beach day, it was 25 degrees

and glorious – until the sun went down. We stayed there dancing until really late and the cold kicked in and I didn’t look very good strutting my stuff wrapped in a beach towel, but after several bottles of wine it was time to go home. The first to open as usual for the summer was Linekers and what an opening that was, I never know what to expect when it is so early, but Linekers never fail to disappoint. It does exactly what it says no pretence, just good music, great staff and brilliant atmosphere. I attended an engagement party (congratulations Michelle and Ben), at El Banco, which always serves amazing food and does a great Sunday roast) I met a lady called Christina who I hope don’t mind me saying is in her 70s and a massive fan of this column. She not only looked incredible, but she also danced all night in 5 inch heels. It just goes to show age is just a number – so my darling this column is for you and whatever you do - keep wearing the heels!
