Using Adversity to Find Your Purpose If we asked for a show of hands of how many people would like to skip 2020, at this point, most likely everyone would be all-in. However, we would like to say, don’t be too quick to jump ahead. Let’s use the lessons of the past 6 months as a set up for the blessings and success that will now come our way. No doubt, we have all gone through some really uncertain times, with still a bit of lingering uncertainty. But let’s think about the lessons we have learned in the first half of the year, and how we can utilize them to finish the year stronger than our wildest dreams. The first half of the year taught us to embrace change and adjust quickly. In our lifetime, we have never had to change our patterns and habits so abruptly. We had to become a voice of reason, patience, understanding, calmness and discernment as Real Estate Professionals and Leaders in our Communities. In times of chaos and uncertainty, we all have a responsibility to be there, and help with words of encouragement, empathy and advice, for those seeking some insight and leadership. Now that we have moved into the second half of the year, how can we use the lessons we have learned to gain momentum and production for the second half of 2020? In today’s environment, we believe videos and marketing is a MUST to get your purpose out to the communities in which you serve. What do we mean by purpose? Please, realize you are so much more than a Realtor; you are a community ambassador, that can elevate awareness of the local businesses and help them in promoting their products or services, while representing yourself as the local Real Estate Expert. Many of our local businesses are struggling, and you can use your skills of marketing to not only help them gain additional business but also solidify your role as a person that cares about your community. It’s human tendency to help those people who have their best interest in helping them. So, if you are doing a video helping promote specific local businesses and always end with the call to action, “I’m your local real estate expert, so call me for all your Real Estate needs” they will not only share your video but they will remember you when someone else has a Real Estate need. The opportunities are limitless. Also, please understand that people are social beings and must have interactions with others. Take the time and write down a list of 25 friends and family that you need to call. The call is for two reasons. The first reason is to call and have a caring and positive conversation. Just because you are doing fine

does not mean that your friends and family are. Many are struggling because they have a need to interact with others. As real estate professionals, we have all been deemed essential and we are blessed with tremendous business opportunities right now. But, that is not the case for some. Take the time to understand that some people are alone, and a phone call or a video call would absolutely be cherished. Don’t assume that your family and close friends are okay. Many of our elderly family and friends are alone at home, and often times no one calls or comes to check on them for days. This is your time to not only check on your loved ones and friends, but also bring joy and a smile to their faces. Always take the opportunity to remind them if they hear of anyone looking to sell or buy Real Estate to please send them your way. Family and friends will want to help you but without reminders they may often forget to bring your name up at the appropriate time. Take the initiative to contact your friends and family more often, and if given the chance, put a mask on and go visit them in person. Six months are left to make 2020 a year to remember for positive things instead of negative. You may be wondering how do you even start when it seems our country is in such a dark place right now. We believe you can overcome darkness with light. We are taught

to be salt and light unto others. There are thousands of people in our EXIT Realty family, and if each person within EXIT Realty committed to doing one video supporting a local business with positive encouragement and support, imagine the sphere of influence you can have. And, just one call or visit to a family member or friend could bring so much light. You can make a difference. Your words and actions can tremendously impact those around you in a positive way. You have an opportunity to not only have your best year ever by using some simple marketing techniques, but also have an opportunity to change lives and create opportunities for so many including yourself. We hope that each one of your are able to take this information and use it to help others and help yourself. 2020 has simply been a brief set back to set is all up for a come back. Invest in Yourself...You Are Your Best Investment Investing in yourself is one of the best return on investments you can have. Whether it’s investing in learning a new skill, developing yourself personally or professionally, tapping into your creativity or hiring a coach, you need to give to yourself first before you can give to others. It is our responsibility to take the time to develop our gifts and talents, so we can best serve others. Investing in yourself is an example of self-love, you must love yourself before you can expect others to love you. Why is investing in yourself so powerful? Investing in yourself, sends a powerful message to yourself and the world. The message is:

The value and potential that I possess, is important enough to me that I’m going to give it the energy, space and time to grow and create results.”

When you’re willing to say yes, and take that leap of faith and invest in yourself, the universe will provide you with amazing rewards. I would like to share some incredible ways that you can invest in yourself - the great news is they don’t all require money. Ways to Invest in Yourself Set Goals. Learn how to set personal and business goals for yourself. If you’re not taking the time to set goals it’s like driving in the dark with the headlights turned off. You will not know where you’re going and you will waste precious time. Be sure to also set some time frames in which to meet them. Your goals should be SMART goals -Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely. Honor your intuition. You can show yourself love by trusting your gut and honoring the message that it’s sending. Listening to your intuition, will allow you to make better decisions. Valuing your intuition, by not allowing the thoughts, feelings or statements of others to take away from what you know to be true is very empowering. By paying attention to how you feel, it will help you to make better, smarter and quicker decisions. I know for me personally, if I choose to ignore my gut or intuition when I feel a strong feeling about something, it almost always is a decision or action that I end up regretting. I have learned to always trust my intuition and that is what leads me in my life and business. Invest time in your creativity. Our creativity doesn’t have to diminish as we get older. It allows us to be inspired, have fun and appreciate the beauty in the world. Invest in building your confidence. People who know their value, have something to say and others will listen. You can invest in yourself by developing an understanding of the value that you possess and offer others. Learn to have the courage to speak your truth. The more


you love yourself and own the value that you offer, the more confident you will become in sharing it with others. Be Your Fearlessly Authentic Self. Read educational books. Books or audio books are an awesome resource to build your knowledge and expertise in any area. Attend seminars and workshops. These expand your knowledge and skills in your business and/or personal life. This will also give you the opportunity to meet and interact with individuals who are like-minded. As a speaker, I personally attend around 100 events around North America and always take a few nuggets of information from each one. Take care of your health. Eat right each day, fueling your body with nutrients. When you focus on eating organic and healthier choices, you will feel better and have more energy. I know that the unhealthy burger or cupcake gives us instant gratification, but if you’re like me, you regret it later, because you feel lousy afterwards. Exercise daily. Do something every day to get moving and get your heart rate up, even, if it’s just walking the dog. Exercise gives you the energy to take on the day with confidence because of how it makes you look and feel. Choose to be happy. Happiness is a choice. Happy people choose to focus on the positive aspects of life, rather than the negative. They are not held hostage by their

circumstances. They look at all the reasons to be grateful. “Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”- Abraham Lincoln Work on your bucket list. If you don’t have a bucket list, then it’s time to start one. Your bucket list is meant to be a list of everything you want to achieve, do, see, feel and experience in your life. Your list may be ongoing, but you can start by writing 100 things down. Then each month or so, make sure you’re knocking out at least, one of the items on your list. up to the day’s most important news. Invest in a coach. A coach can assist you in putting all of these strategies into action. A coach is your partner in success. It is their job to assist you in creating and implementing your success plan, so you can become the best that you can be. I can promise this: When you invest in yourself, a world of opportunities will open up for you. And, if you have a business where you sell your services, you must know that no one will invest in you until you invest in yourself first. Investing in yourself emotionally, physically, spiritually and financially, will allow you to become the best version of yourself. CONQUERING your Challenges through these TRYING TIMES When asked by EXIT Realty Corp International to provide a free training to my fellow EXIT Realty family as part of the compa-ny’s Take Action Stimulus Package, I first felt honored and then a little nervous. You see, this company and its leadership have given so much to my career over the years. I also know firsthand many of my fellow EXIT Realty family have been nega-tively impacted by the changing market conditions. My goal is to give you all my knowledge and ideas to help you through these trying times. With that being said, the following article is a blend of the Stimulus Package webinars I delivered to our bro-ker/ owners recently. I hope you enjoy it. First off, let’s talk about your mindset. It is important that we keep an awareness of our mindset and consider the importance of what we allow into our minds. There are two types of mind-sets that most people possess in business. You either have a SCARCITY mindset or an ABUNDANCE mindset. Many people have what’s known as a scarcity mindset or scarci-ty mentality. In the simplest terms, the scarcity mindset is the belief that there will never be enough — whether it’s money, food, emotions, or something else entirely — and as a result, your actions and thoughts stem from a place of lack. Contrary to a scarcity mindset, the abundance mentality is the paradigm that there is plenty out there and enough to spare for everybody. It results in the sharing of prestige, of recognition, of profits, of decision making. It opens possibilities, options, alternatives, and creativity. It’s easy to fall into a scarcity mindset, given the changing mar-ket conditions. However, you will never reach your full potential or goals, for that matter, with this type of mindset. 12

A productive exercise for creating an abundance mentality starts by making some small changes in your life. First, view tasks as opportunities instead of challenges in your business. Each day is a blessing and you should approach your day in that manner. It’s also important to limit who you bring into your inner circle. You want to surround yourself with positive mind-set people. Another good exercise is spending time in reflection and being thankful for those people who have helped you and continue to help you each day. A simple thank you note or phone call regu-larly to those you appreciate will boost your spirit; and in turn your mindset. Additionally, important for your mindset is maintaining a GROWTH mindset versus a FIXED mindset. A fixed mindset lim-its your thinking about yourself as either you are smart or not smart; talented or not talented. Whereas with a growth mind-set a person develops the capacity to improve and strengthen his or her abilities so that fewer limits exist. I’m sure a lot of us have experienced a growth mindset, given the number of virtual training sessions and meetings we have attended over the last few months; I know I have. To improve on your growth mindset, you should try different learning tac-tics. It also helps to stop seeking approval and value the process over the end results. Most long-term goals are accomplished over a year or longer. If you value the process over the end re-sults, you are more likely to hit your goals. You can maintain a growth mindset by implementing these strategies: >>> Seek out knowledge - The key to a growth mindset is develop-ing a learning culture. Can I Be a Leader? From time to time I am asked, “Can everyone be a leader?” Yes and no works, so allow me to explain. Remember, the content of leadership never changes, however the context of leadership is very flexible in nearly every situation. Also, remember author John C. Maxwell’s thought, “Leadership is influence, nothing more nothing less.” Therefore, is a kindergarten teacher a leader? Is an older sister helping her younger siblings a leader? Is an agent successfully sponsoring another agent into EXIT Realty a leader? Is a broker staying late and starting early while the agents are watching a leader? Yes, I think so. The YES answer is that I believe every person has the occasion and opportunity to lead, to influence someone else. We are influenced by some unassuming people occasionally, because of what they do or say at just the right time. In emergency situations, I have seen people take charge and direct the situation toward a positive outcome, not even realizing they had that capability. It is also interesting that when you put four kids, four friends, four marines, or four salespeople in a room, a leader will emerge. One of the four will begin to influence the others in some way. So yes, leaders come in nearly every form possible, with no mold that I have found popping them out. Plus, the tools and skills of leadership can be taught and modeled for anyone to learn. Now to the NO answer. Why are so many enterprises in our world seemingly not lead, and struggling? In every successful growing real estate brokerage I have ever seen, I’ve found at the center a charismatic, visionary leader. Where there is no leader, there is no growth. “Well then,” you say, “I bought a franchise only to find I am not that charismatic visionary leader.” Ouch! Now what? Don’t throw in the towel just yet. Here is the better answer. Not every person can possess all the necessary skills to grow a brokerage. However, you have endless possibilities: 1. You can seek out role models and mirror what they do. 2. You can hire a person to do what you cannot who has complementary skills such as training, recruiting or bookkeeping. 3. You can use the energy of your agents to help in specific areas, such as social events and training as a team. 4. You can create a vision statement with your closest team members, sitting in a circle in your home. 5. You can get involved at your local board or civic club, watching others lead or not lead. You learn both ways. Is that not the essence of a good leader? Not doing everything yourself, but building a team of people around your dream who can make it come true. YES, you can be a leader. We need what you have to offer. We love and support your dream. We are here to help you grow. The heart of EXIT Realty is not a product, it is a group of like-minded people caring enough to
