The cover of this winter’s issue of EGO and its main topic might seem a little strange to our loyal readers. This interview, both in terms of its contents and its visual appearance is a tad different from all the topics we have offered you before. Natuka Natsvlishvili is our guest. Yes, we do have the same surname and moreover, she is my sister and literary editor of EGO. When the idea of interviewing her was born, it did not take me much thinking – I made the decision instantly, because Natuka truly deserves it. You will be the best judge of it when you read the interview with her. This is the choice I made. In general, I wanted to dedicate this letter to the process that is the act of making a choice by a person. There are people who find it easy to make decisions and then there are those who find it somewhat difficult. Aren’t our lives in their entirety – be it past, present or future – the end-result of the decisions we have made and it is exactly this realization that in most cases tends to hold us back, when it comes to making a decision. However, I think it should not serve as an obstacle when overcoming any challenge, because even in the case of making a wrong decision, there will always be ways to alter it and find a way out. I would personally take action over idleness any day and that’s what helps me make decisions in a prompt manner. Don’t take it as if I make no mistakes along the way, and it might be harder to remedy the already spoiled condition, but the process itself is much more interesting than not having this possibility at all.

Try to frequently make the kind of bold decisions that trigger a passing thought, like – “What if these actions cause something serious”. Make a decision and be more daring, don’t fret the courageousness of your own thoughts, try to observe yourself, the people around you and the environment. Conduct experiments. Life offers us a vast amount of opportunities, but we make use of a miserably little of them. So let us break out of the shell, living in which might be comfortable, but at the same time is quite uninteresting. Leave this condition to the year 2015 and meet the new 2016 with interesting ideas and think positive. You cannot begin to imagine how powerful our thoughts can be. This issue is the last one for the year being, so I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and wish you a happy and a successful year of 2016 on behalf of the whole team. And we will be meeting each other already in 2016 with a commemorative issue, on the EGO AWARDS 2015 ceremony.

„ეგოს“ ამ ზამთრის გამოცემის ყდა და მთავარი თემა, ჩვენ ერთგულ და მუდმივ მკითხველს შეიძლება ცოტა უცნაურად მოეჩვენოს. ეს ინტერვიუ შინაარსით და ვიზუალით ცოტა განსხვავებულია იმ თემებისაგან, რომლებიც აქამდე შემოგვითავაზებია თქვენთვის. ჩვენი სტუმარი ნატუკა ნაცვლიშვილია. დიახ, ჩვენ ერთი გვარი გვაქვს და არა მარტო, ის ჩემი დაა და „ეგოს“ ლიტერატურული რედაქტორი. როდესაც მასთან ინტერვიუს იდეა გაჩნდა ბევრი არ მიფიქრია, მომენტალურად მივიღე გადაწყვეტილება, რადგან ნატუკა ამას ნამდვილად იმსახურებს, როდესაც მასთან ინტერვიუს წაიკითხავთ ამაში თავად დარწმუნდებით. აი, ასეთი არჩევანი გავაკეთე მე. საერთოდ, მინდოდა ეს წერილი იმ პროცესისათვის მიმეძღვნა, რომელსაც ადამიანის მიერ არჩევანის გაკეთება ჰქვია. არიან ადამიანები, რომლებიც მარტივად იღებენ გადაწყვეტილებებს ან პირიქით – ძალიან უჭირთ. მთელი ჩვენი ცხოვრება – წარსული, აწმყო და მომავალი ხომ ჩვენივე გადაწყვეტილებების შედეგია და ზუსტად ამისი გაცნობიერება გვაბრკოლებს უმეტეს შემთხვევაში, როდესაც გადაწყვეტილების მიღებაზე მიდგება საქმე; მაგრამ ვფიქრობ, ეს არ უნდა იყოს წინააღმდეგობა ნებისმიერი მდგომარეობის გადალახვისას, რადგან იმ შემთხვევაშიც კი, თუ მცდარი გადაწყვეტილება მივიღეთ, ყოველთვის არსებობს მისი შეცვლის გზა და გამოსავალი. პირადად მე უმოქმედობას ყოველთვის მოძრაობას ვარჩევ და ამიტომ ვიღებ გადაწყვეტილებებს სწრაფად. არ იფიქროთ, რომ შეცდომებს არ ვუშვებ, შეიძლება უფრო რთულია უკვე განხორციელებული ქმედებების შეცვლა, სამაგიეროდ ბევრად საინტერესოა, ვიდრე ამ საშუალების არ ქონა. ხშირად მიიღეთ გადაწყვეტილებები თუნდაც ისეთი თამამი, რომ გაფიქრებინებთ – „ამას რაიმე სერიოზული, ხომ არ მოყვება“. გააკეთეთ არჩევანი და იყავით უფრო გაბედულები, ნუ შეგაშინებთ თქვენივე აზრების სითამამე, სცადეთ და დააკვირდით საკუთარ თავს, თქვენ გარშემო მყოფ ადამიანებს და გარემოს. ჩაატარეთ ექსპერიმენტები. ცხოვრება ძალიან ბევრ საშუალებებს გვაძლევს ჩვენ კი მიზერულად ცოტას ვიყენებთ. ამიტომ, მოდით, გამოვიდეთ ნაჭუჭიდან, რომელიც ხშირად კომფორტულია, მაგრამ მასში გატარებული ცხოვრება უინტერესო. დაუტოვეთ ეს მდგომარეობა 2015 წელს და 2016-ს შეხვდით საინტერესო იდეებით, იფიქრეთ დადებითზე, ვერც კი წარმოიდგენთ რამხელა ძალა აქვს ფიქრებს. ეს ნომერი ამ წლის ბოლო გამოცემაა, ამიტომ აქვე მოგილოცავთ და ბედნიერ და წარმატებულ 2016 წელს გისურვებთ მთელი რედაქციის სახელით. ჩვენ კი უკვე 2016 წელს შევხვდებით „ეგოს“ საიუბილეო გამოცემით, EGO AWARDS 2015-ის დაჯილდოების ცერემონიალზე.

If there were a never fell, we would all be seating there right now, talking about blue, fluffy-tailed foxes, dancing on the ceiling and unexplainable words. There are people, at whom a single glance is enough to be persuaded that the word does not lack substance, but instead is quite a tangible concept. Looking at them you realize that somewhere beyond the person standing in front of you, somewhere farther and deeper behind them, there is a vast universe, albeit, invisible. You either mange to enter it, or not. Most probably not. But I still have to give it a shot. However, I know that the banal

‘aura’

‘when were you born’,

‘what were your dreams’, ‘did you know questions, such as what profession you would be choosing, when you graduated from school’, are all doomed to ‘failure’. Since it is near impossible for these questions to be met with banal answers.

How so? You’ll soon find out, below…

I start out with a simple question. Well, a simple one at a glance, but actually the kind of a question that invites various, diverse types of answers throughout one’s life… An answer to a question: Who are you? I feel like other than my name, surname and some of the watertight facts, I know nothing about myself. The name and surname by themselves are pieces of memorized information. As a matter of fact, I might as well have had any number of other names. Who’s to say, maybe I do have other names. Often times I find myself doubting even theselong-established facts. Sometimes it is hard to recall, whether an event truly occurred or I came up with it and repeated it to others many a time, until they quite naturally occupied their place in my past. Scene: Childhood… My childhood in its entirety is disassembled into various scenes and then reassembled anew. I remember the feelings. Among them the most intense, and the one that I most frequently remember, is the one where my father holds me by my hands at twirls me around, how the dizziness takes over and scares me, but at the same time how pleasurable I’m finding it. I might easily fall, but I know I won’t, because I’m in safe hands. And the promised banal one: What were your dreams in your childhood? The promised “strange universes” – I was dreaming to be living in a world were darkness never fell. Even now, I don’t like nightfall all that much. I was also dreaming to own a blue fox as a pet. It was a character from nighttime fairy tales my father invented: a beautiful, fluffy-tailed blue fox, which lived under the bushes in the schoolyard and tirelessly ran after tiny and naughty blue cubs. I had one more not so important, nonetheless a strange dream: I wanted the ceiling to be my floor. I used to lie down and stare at the chandelier and since our immensely ordinary house always failed to fascinate me, I imagined that around the chandelier lay my spacious white hall. I used to imagine myself running and dancing there. Did you know in advance what you would be doing upon graduating from school? I don’t know it even now. It’s just that there always were some things that I was good at. For instance, I used to always write and regarded it my only duty, or a source of pleasure, if you will. Later on, I discovered a number of new things. I started playing instruments. By the time I was graduating, I wanted to become a musician. Education (academic background): Where, what and from whom did you study? I graduated from Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University, the faculty of film studies. I vaguely remember this period, considering that at the time I was very confused and a lot of bad things used to happen. However, Lela Ochiauri, the supervisor of my group, was doing her best to help me out and was quite successful at it. I learned very much from her. Non-academic background: An advice, an interesting phrase, which changed your views, a person, who determined your present or future… Anything of the sort… The people who made me, if I may say so, are the members of my family. My father, who always found a lot of time for me, spoke with me, took me for walks, listened to and criticized me; My mother, who always correctly diverted my attention towards important and interesting events or things, never got tired of constant analysis and never scolded me. What is your current occupation? I finished writing my first book and I’m trying to re-read it with an outsider’s perspective. Now is the time when the most laborious process begins, which is the stage of working on the already composed text. Parallel to this, with my friends, the musicians Tsotne Gogitidze and Beka Ghlonti, I worked on a new project and just recently started recording an album. We are in the phase of active preparation and I hope you will soon be able to listen to it. What would you tell to a 15-16 year-old Natuka? I would tell her not to get scared and employ all possible self-defense mechanisms, because the nearest future harbours a lot of hard hits, which are bound to leave significant scars on her if she does not prepare correspondingly, both morally and physically. I would have probably told her as to precisely what to expect. As a result, she herself would have decided what measures to take.

მარტივი კითხვით ვიწყებ. ერთი შეხედვით მარტივით. სინამდვილეში, ალბათ, ცხოვრების განმავლობაში რომ სხვადასხვაგვარად, ბევრნაირად შეგვიძლია პასუხის გაცემა... პასუხი კითხვაზე – ვინ ხარ შენ... მგონია, რომ სახელის, გვარის და რამდენიმე წყალგაუვალი ფაქტის მეტი საკუთარ თავზე არაფერი ვიცი. სახელი და გვარიც მხოლოდ დასწავლილი ინფორმაციაა. სინამდვილეში ხომ თავისუფლად შეიძლებოდა ათასი სხვა რამ მრქმეოდა. ვინ იცის, მქვია კიდეც. ხშირად ამ ფაქტებშიც ეჭვი მეპარება. არ მახსოვს, ნამდვილად მოხდა ამბავი, თუ მე გამოვიგონე და იმდენ ხანს ვუყვებოდი ადამიანებს, სანამ ბუნებრივად არ დაიმკვიდრეს ადგილი წარსულში. კადრი – ბავშვობა... მთელი ჩემი ბავშვობა კადრებად არის დაშლილი და ხელახლა აწყობილი. შეგრძნებები მახსოვს. ყველაზე მძაფრია და ხშირად მახსენდება როგორ ვუჭერივარ მამას ხელებით და მაბზღრიალებს, როგორ მესხმის თავბრუ და მეშინია, თან ძალიან მსიამოვნებს. შეიძლება ჩამოვვარდე, მაგრამ არ ჩამოვვარდები, იმიტომ, რომ დაცული ვარ. დაპირებული – ბანალური – რაზე ოცნებობდი ბავშვობაში? დაპირებული „უცხო სამყაროები“ – ვოცნებობდი, მეცხოვრა სამყაროში, სადაც არასოდეს ბნელდებოდა. ღამე არც ახლა მიყვარს. კიდევ ვოცნებობდი, მყოლოდა შინაური ლურჯი მელია. ეს იყო მამას გამოგონილი „ძილისწინა“ ზღაპრის მთავარი პერსონაჟი, ლამაზი, კუდბუთქუნა ლურჯი მელია, რომელიც სკოლის ეზოში, ბუჩქებში ცხოვრობს და რუდუნებით უვლის პატარა ცელქ ლურჯ მელიებს. კიდევ მქონდა ერთი უმნიშვნელო, მაგრამ უცნაური ოცნება, ჭერი ყოფილიყო ჩემი იატაკი. დავწვებოდი ხოლმე და ჭაღს ვათვალიერებდი და რადგან ჩვენი ჩემი აზრით მეტისმეტად ჩვეულებრივი სახლი დიდად არ მიზიდავდა, წარმოვიდგენდი, რომ ჭაღის გარშემო ჩემი ვრცელი თეთრი დარბაზია. წარმოსახვით დავრბოდი და ვცეკვავდი იქ. სკოლის დამთავრებისას გქონდა განსაზღვრული რას გააკეთებდი? არც ახლა მაქვს. უბრალოდ ყოველთვის იყო რაღაცები, რაც მეხერხებოდა. მაგალითად, ყოველთვის ვწერდი და ამას მივიჩნევდი ერთადერთ მოვალეობად თუ სიამოვნების წყაროდ. მერე ბევრი რამ აღმოვაჩინე, დაკვრა დავიწყე. სკოლის დამთავრებისას მუსიკოსობა მინდოდა. განათლება (აკადემიური ბეგრაუნდი) სად ისწავლე, რა ისწავლე, ვისგან ისწავლე... დავამთავრე საქართველოს შოთა რუსთაველის თეატრისა და კინოს სახელმწიფო უნივერსიტეტი, კინომცოდნეობის ფაკულტეტი. ის პერიოდი ბუნდოვნად მახსოვს, ძალიან დაბნეული ვიყავი და ცუდი რამეები ხდებოდა. მაგრამ ჩემი ჯგუფის ხელმძღვანელი, ლელა ოჩიაური, ყველანაირად ცდილობდა, დამხმარებოდა და ეს გამოსდიოდა კიდეც. ძალიან ბევრი რამ ვისწავლე მისგან.

Personal life: How do you spend your free time? For the last two years I mostly stay in and work. I never favoured crowded places and lately, I almost never go out. Several times a year, I travel with my husband. During each trip, we record a new video. It is a mighty interesting process. I meet with the members of my family almost on a daily basis. I derive the most pleasure from constantly sipping tea in their company at our country-house. A soundtrack that best suits you at this stage of life… Lately I often listen to Sacred Hymns by George Gurdjieff performed by Keith Jarrett and somehow feel like it exactly reflects my current state. Words defined in a dictionary is one thing, but the individual approach of each one of us to these concepts is quite different. Try to explain to us love, death, life, friend, future… Your own perceptions of these words… Everything you say, loses the intensity. This is the hardest thing for me as for a person, who writes and otherwise as well. There are concepts, the mere description of which simplifies them and makes their essence laughable. Especially, when we are talking about the concepts such as love or death. There exists a very intimate emotional link or attitude towards these issues, which are more than enough to fully comprehend them. Fear – is it a familiar to you feeling? What scares you? I find it hard to recall a day when I was not terrified of something. I have a lot of phobias. All my life I’ve been suffering from various irrational fears. I used to think that fear was like a human being, which wouldn’t leave you until it had fully eaten you out. But now I think that I need my phobias more than they need me, even in the case of them being human-like creatures. The most fearsome fear is the fear of fear itself, however ridiculous it might sound. What would you have said if your voice could reach the world audience? I would have told them that at all times and anybody could be physically annihilated at any given moment, or die – to state more vividly. My advice to them would be to always bear this in mind. They should sit down and imagine their own funeral, the moment of death, or how everyday life would look like without

If they manage to transform it into a natural state, if they manage to keep in mind that end is nearer than they think, they will start slowly changing attitudes towards themselves, the environment and other human beings, they will muster greater responsibility and will avoid becoming the source of pain to others. And when I delivered this message, I would have been very strict about it. Dreams It has been a long time since I last saw a dream. I do miss it sometimes though… so then I just come up with and describe them. Just like in this passage from my yet unfinished book. The Unseen Dream I woke upalready tired. Don’t know why. Not that I was physically tired or sweat dripped down on my skin, or muscles got strained, or fists got clenched, or joints started creaking… Nothing of the sort. It just felt like I was tired, from sleeping, or whatever, no idea. Maybe I saw a dream I didn’t like or it dragged out unbearably. Isn’t it possible that I dreamt the sky had turned into earth and the earth into sky? As a result, we had to walk on nothingness, in the air that moved. Sand, plants, papers, husks, barks, chairs, flowers (yeah, those too), feathers (yes, even those), excrements (those too, as it turns out),shed pieces of hair (isn’t that bad too) poured down on us, whenever it rained. And maybe I even saw how I was running from one man to another, because we had nothing else as a point of destination, I mean those of us who lived on the sky. You have to aim at the humans (here: a person), in order to select a point of destination, which you want to reach. And so, it’s as if I’m running towards a girl in a raincoat, standing next to a cucumber-eating man and waiting for somebody, because there are only stones, crawlers and various broken pieces of dishware coming up from down below. The wind flung a sizeable crystal bowl towards me and upon seeing as to how beautiful I was, it started chasing me, flying after me alongside the wind all while rattling, but oh, with what a rattle. I’m running, without ever getting tired, since I’m not standing on a solid surface and it’s not like touching the earth with my feet can make my knees ache. Suddenly, I see the cucumber-eater leave the girl in a raincoat behind, probably due to their agreement for him to be her destination point for a certain sum. He left, because the person expected to arrive was running late. The cucumber-eater asked for more money. However, the girl in a raincoat did not have a dime left in her pocket and as a result, she lost a fine destination point. Not having a meeting point meant that the person scheduled to come, could not have arrived anymore. This the girl realized instantly and left to find a new destination point. I myself lost purpose, slowed down and gave in to the enemy. It itself seemed all cracked from flying that much and as it landed directly on my face, it broke into a million pieces, two sizeable ones sticking right into my eyes. But the thing is, I didn’t see any dream but somehow I still woke up tired. I thought to myself, if this is not what I saw in my dream, then what could have possibly made me so tired and considering I cannot recall anything else, then it is stranger and even more so.

Tilda Swinton is a face of British fashion, a successful actress and a designer, who often takes part in artistic performances. The roles she plays are diverse, distinct and often times quite mystical, which can probably be easily ascribed to the actress’s peculiar looks. She plays roles both in art films and commercial motion pictures. Just like the majority of actors, she sees herself differently beyond the screen and frequently faces the identity crisis. Swinton’s interview expressly illustrates her attitude towards movie industry: “What would have happened if I were born before the discovery of movies?” – asks herself a skeptical question, but responds optimistically – “We got very lucky”. “There is something enchanting and otherworldly in Tilda Swinton’s appearance”, – writes a British journalist, “and in the character as well” – we could add. A single glance is more than enough to feel the mystical combination of fair white skin, green eyes and short silver hair. She is not fond of discussing her private life, however, she does sometimes have to make public announcements to escape from damaging rumours: “I have never been married. I have two children from John Byrne”. Swinton considers herself a Scot, loves tea, nature and people of strong character. It should come as no surprise that she chose a painter from Edinburgh with whom to continue her genetic line. She came to acquaint herself with John Byrne in 1985. Naturally, the relationship of the two artists was full of interesting and original occurrences, however, it was rather short-lived. As per the actress herself, there was no room left for their relationship to develop, but they remain friends to this day. Currently, Swinton lives with Sandro Kopp, a German actor 19 years her younger. This mystical actress sure has grounds to be proud of her distinguished lineage: her father a descendant of Kimmerghame Lords and mother, a member of a noble family of Scottish origin. Tilda was born in London on the 5th of November in 1960 in the family of Judith Balfour and Sir John Swinton. She inherited her peculiar looks from her Australian mother. The family paid close attention to Tilda’s education. She had to change schools quite frequently. Notwithstanding this fact, she was always receiving good grades and had exceptional talent in sports. She attended Queen's Gate School in London, then West Heath Girls' School and later on, transferred to Fettes College in Edinburgh. It was in this period that she made friends with Princess Diana, who was her classmate at the time. “I don’t work looking into the future, I don’t want to know what awaits me. I feel like I don’t need any guarantee” – the author of these words must obviously have been a true rebellious spirit and it was just the case. After graduating from college, Swinton left for South Africa and worked as a volunteer in a Kenyan school. Upon returning to England, she continued her studies at the University of Cambridge on the faculty of Social and Political Sciences. During her student years she leaned towards leftist ideas and even joined a communist party.

In 1984 Swinton joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, a major British theatre company. Acting first piqued her interest while still at school, however, at the time she was not sure that she would be following this line of work. In theatre, she played several roles in performances staged according to Shakespeare’s works. After 1986 she made her appearance on TV screens as well, in a mini-series based on Percy Bysshe Shelley novel. That same year, she played a role in a movie directed by Derek Jarman. Throughout the following years, Swinton was actively involved in cinematography, which was characterized with her wonderful portrayals in the following movies: The Last of England (1987), War Requiem (1988), Edward II (1991) and many others. Her winning the title of best actress on the Venice Film Festival in 1991 marked the beginning of her successful international movie career. In 2007, she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for a role in the movie - Michael Clayton, however, she admitted that it was the strangest work in her life. 55 year-old Tilda Swinton has played up to 70 roles in movies, loves her profession very much and compares art of acting to a magic carpet ride through an existential universe.

A Dream Named

“Radisson Blu” ოცნება სახელად „რადისონ ბლუ“

She invited us to meet at Radisson Blu, where she spends most of her time. Later on, she even mentioned in an interview that it is her second home. Camera crew of EGO and I arrived at the place sharply on agreed upon time. I did not know all that much about my respondent, other than the fact that she held the position of sales and marketing director at Radisson Blu. Naturally, I was a little worried, since I had virtually no idea as to how our dialogue would unfold. However, all my worries instantly disappeared the moment I met her in the foyer, when she shook my hand and greeted me with a warm smile. It was my respondent, Nina Asatiani, standing in front of me. How would you characterize yourself? What is the businesswoman Nina Asatiani like? Firstly, allow me to start off by saying that I love my job very much. Whatever I happen to do, I do it with love. I feel a strong sense of responsibility towards myself. Based on all this, I consider myself a good manager. I am overseeing a huge department both in Tbilisi and in Batumi. I guess, you could say that I am a friendly manager and with my employees, I am bound by love and respect, or at least that’s what they say. I think it is hard to do the job you don’t love… What was your career path like? I made my first steps in Energo-pro approximately ten years ago. It was an organization involved with energy systems, where I started working as a complaint analyst. It was exactly at that time that meters were being installed throughout Georgia and the position in that period entailed paramount effort and responsibility on my behalf. Later, this department was closed and I was out of the job. However, soon after, a vacancy was announced by Tbilisi Marriot for the position of sales executive and following the tree rounds of interviews, I became an employee of the hotel, where I worked for 2 years. Marriot was the first company where I gained experience in sales and in a way it was my first school, so to speak. When the construction of Radisson commenced, I realized that it was where I belonged. I remember the day I passed by Radisson yet amidst construction and thought to myself, I wish I worked here, which at the time seemed to me like a dream from the realm of utopia. From the current standpoint it all does seem like a dream to me. One

fine day, I happened upon a vacancy announcement on one of the websites, applied and forgot all about it within the next ten minutes, since I had no expectation that someone would actually call me. After ten days, I received an unexpected call. On the other end of the line was Ata Türkan, the general manager at Radisson Blu, who invited me to an interview. I knew the interview would never have been successful. A position of marketing and sales director seemed unattainable to me. However, all went well and I ended up here… Due to my good management of Radisson in Tbilisi alongside my team, after two years, Batumi Radisson was also assigned to me for supervision. 6 months later, they changed my position and I became a sales and marketing director of Radisson Blu throughout the whole country. Are there any unwritten rules you follow? What is the main thing in your line of work? There are no written rules for me. Standards that may be issued in Brussels, London or New York, might not be at all suitable for your department. So, I make the rules here. As far as the main thing in my work goes, it is teamwork. Since we already have major competitors on the market, it takes enormous effort and dedication to always be the number one. Could you name three aspects that contribute to the company’s success? The first thing that comes is love for what you do. If you don’t love your work, you won’t be able to accomplish anything. It is absolutely necessary to have the best team possible and a rightly selected goal. This is a formula that makes up a good company. In general, achieving success is far easier than deserving it. I think we are number one because we deserve it. What kind of a mother is Nina Asatiani? This is quite a painful topic for me. Since my job requires great amounts of

time and energy, I do not get to spend as much time with my children as I would have wanted. I am a mother of two sons. The eldest is 5 years old and the younger one is 4. I do my best to spend the free time, which I seldom but still sometimes tend to get, with my kids. What is the activity from which you derive pleasure outside of work? Do you have a hobby? Spending time with my loved ones – if you can call it a hobby. I have a large circle of friends and being with them is truly a pleasure. I also love travelling, seeing new countries, experiencing new sensations… Which is the country where you think you would have achieved greater success? I won’t even take time to think about it – it’s France. By the way, it is my future, long-term goal to live in one of the small and beautiful cities of France. I even started learning French a short while ago. On what do you regret spending time the most? Probably on relationships, which eventually yielded no results whatsoever. What is the characteristic feature that made you what you are today and without which it wouldn’t have been possible? I guess, anybody who knows me would agree that I have a remarkable skill in communicating with any person. This most certainly aids me through my job. If it were not for this characteristic feature, I wouldn’t have been the person I am today. What is your interpretation of a term “strong woman”? An accomplished and an absolutely independent woman, who can make daring moves both in business and personal lives. My father has been telling me since my childhood that I ought to have been able to stand up straight independently, that I should have been dependent on myself and myself only. My father’s advice has been following me around all my conscious life. So, you consider yourself a strong woman. There has never been a way around it. I always remember the stage of my life when I first started working in Radisson Blu. I was 25 at the time. A fact that irritated a lot of people around me. I was seeing negative attitude from these people on a daily basis, as a result of which I have spent many a night crying. I must be truly a strong person to have endured these psychological challenges. Instead, I gathered all the strength I had in me and proved to everybody what I was capable of.

What do you mostly think about when you find yourself alone?

Future… I am currently on a stage in life, where I tend to think more and more about my personal life.

What is your main weakness? I’m not sure if this constitutes to weakness, but sometimes I just wish to get away from the everyday hassle, switch off my phone and lock myself inside a room. However, it does not mean that I have tendency to depression, not at all. What makes you the proudest in your life so far? What is your greatest achievement? My greatest achievement is my two sons. What is it you cannot do without? Without a job. It does not have to be any particular company, but I cannot imagine my life without doing some work. What do you dream about? About a big and warm family – in my own house, in preparation for the new year’s eve, with my children and the loved ones… Just the way you see it in American movies about new year. If you were to start over again, would you change anything? From today’s standpoint, I think nothing at all. However, I cannot be sure of my answer to the same question at any other time in the future. Under which category do you fall: with people planning each and every step ahead of time or do you have everything occur spontaneously in your life? There have been so many things in my life that happened spontaneously that I find it hard to assimilate myself into any of the two categories. There are moves in life that do require thorough planning and foresight of events beforehand. If you were an interviewer, what would your question be to Nina Asatiani? All the interviews I have ever given were related to my work. None of the questions have ever been about my personal life. Notwithstanding the fact that it is a conspired topic, which I seldom discuss, I would have asked Nina if she is in love. Are you going to ask me that question now? Most certainly I am… Is Nina Asatiani in love? Yes, I am in love with life, with each morning that promises a new day, new relationships and success.

>> I have never felt fear when facing challenges. I strongly believe that if a person has a well-defined goal, they can move mountains and achieve it. When I was studying journalism, I was offered a job in an English language newspaper, where I was supposed to write about business and what is more, in English. I needed a job and additionally, I knew I would have opportunities to meet with very interesting and successful people, with an added bonus of writing about them. There was one tiny problem though – my English was not all that good and other than that, I lacked experience. To this day I clearly remember the jitters I experienced during my first interview, with an accompanying peculiar ‘taste’. The meeting was with the audit company PriceWaterhouseCoopers’s area manager of Canadian origin. I entered the room and flat out said: ‘You know, today is my first day at the job. I am a student at the faculty of journalism and most probably also the most inexperienced journalist you have ever happened upon. Before leaving, the editor asked me if everything was all right and if I truly was ready to conduct an interview in English language and what is more with a very famous auditor, to which I confidently answered that I was. So please, help me prepare this material as I know almost nothing of accounting’. Forthright and sincere approach can open any door and accordingly, my Canadian respondent and I sat down and commenced writing the article together. Upon saying our goodbyes, he told me: ‘Stay this open-hearted and sincere, and you are sure to achieve anything you desire’. It turned out to be true. Truth empowers a person.

a bet to his finance director and spent a whole day working as a stewardess on his own airline, complete with serving the passengers wearing a dress and red high-heel shoes. It was a unique experience for the passengers, which they are not going to forget for quite some time. >> I wouldn’t mind working on a project aimed at developing tourism in Georgia. I feel with the entirety of my body the potential the country has and I have spent many an hour talking about the significance of developing wine tourism in Georgia. After all, the country is the cradle of wine. This tiny country is unique with its nature, originality, variety of grape cultures and history. I have a lot of foreign friends who have seen more regions of Georgia than any of us could boast about. You can’t call yourself Georgian and not have seen Pshavi, Khevsureti, Martvili Canyons, Kazbegi and many other places, all while successfully travelling to Europe 5 or 6 times a year and be interested in or even attracted to that. We should start a tradition, teach each other the respect to our own values and the same kind of respect from others will also follow. I know a number of youngsters who are individually seeking the ways of developing tourism in Georgia. They have put in a lot of work in the endevour and have also managed to make many foreigners fall eternally in love with the country. I cannot begin to imagine what the results will be if they were to unite with the same drive around this single idea. >> I often read various literature, because I believe education is a fundamental basis and the best benefit that can be received. It is exactly the education where freedom can be found. Each new book, each new character and story is the experience that equips us with strength. There have been a number of books that resulted in changing me and even a short story has a capability of changing your life forever, because it will show you that what scared you a lot, be it the recent occurrence or a childhood trauma, which tends to torture you, turns out to be a load born by others as well, others have also experienced the same thing, have felt it to the fullest and have found a way out. Life can take many forms. So, read and put yourself in the shoes of a certain character and if you find yourself enjoying it, you will definitely find the strength to live accordingly. We are all well-aware that strongly believing something is already a job half done.

პარალელურად კი აეროპლანით ისეირნოს. მერე რა, თუ მალას მოიტეხავს?“ ეს ხომ ადრენალინია, ეს ხომ ცხოვრებაა! ერთხელ მან ნიძლავი წააგო თავის ფინანსურ დირექტორთან და მთელი დღის მანძილზე ბორტ გამცილებლად მუშაობდა თავისსავე ავიახაზებზე, წითელ მაღალქუსლიან ფეხსაცმელში და კაბაში გამოწობილი ემსახურებოდა ბორტის წევრებს. მგზავრებისათვის ეს იყო უნიკალური გამოცდილება, რომელიც მათ ალბათ არასოდეს დაავიწყდებათ. >> უარს არ ვიტყოდი საქართველოში ტურიზმის განვითარების პროექტში მუშაობაზე. მთელი ჩემი არსებით ვგრნობ ჩვენს პოტენციალს. არაერთხელ მისაუბრია იმაზე, თუ რაოდენ მნიშვნელოვანია საქართველოში ღვინის ტურიზმის განვითარება. ჩვენ ხომ ღვინის აკვანი ვართ. ეს პატარა ქვეყანა უნიკალურია თავისი ბუნებით, ორგანულობით, ყურძნის სახეობებით, ისტორიით. ბევრი უცხოელი მეგობარი მყავს, ვისაც უფრო მეტი მხარე უნახავს საქართველოში, ვიდრე რიგით ჩვენგანს. არ შეიძლება, იყო ქართველი და არ გქონდეს ნანახი ფშავი, ხევსურეთი, მარტვილის კანიონი, ყაზბეგი და ბევრი სხვა, მაგრამ წარმატებით მოგზაურობდე ევროპაში, წელიწადში 5-6ჯერ და მხოლოდ ის გაინტერესებდეს, გიზიდავდეს. ჩვენ უნდა დავნერგოთ ტრადიცია, ვასწავლოთ ერთმანეთს საკუთარი ღირებულებების დაფასება, მერე სხვაც დაგვაფასებს. არაერთ ახალგაზრდას ვიცნობ, რომელიც დამოუკიდებლად ეძებს ტურიზმის განვითარების გზებს საქართველოში, ბევრი უშრომიათ და ბევრ უცხოელსაც სამუდამოდ შეაყვარეს საქართველო, წარმომიდგენია, ყველა ერთად რომ გაერთიანდეს, ერთი იდეისათვის ანთებულები, რა შედეგს მიაღწევენ. >> ხშირად ვკითხულობ სხვადასხვა ლიტერატურას, რადგან მჯერა, რომ განათლება არის ფუნდამენტი, ეს არის ყველაზე დიდი სიკეთე, რომელიც ჩვენ შეიძლება მივიღოთ; სწორედ განათლებაშია თავისუფლება. ყოველი ახალი წიგნი, ყოველი ახალი პერსონაჟი და ისტორია არის გამოცდილება, რომელიც ჩვენ გვაძლიერებს. არაერთ წიგნს მოუხდენია ჩემში გარდატეხა. ერთმა პატარა ნოველამ შესაძლოა სამუდამოდ შეცვალოს თქვენი ცხოვრება, რადგან დაგანახებთ, რომ ის, რისიც თქვენ ძალიან გეშინოდათ, უახლესი შემთხვევა ან ბავშვობის ტრამვა, რომელიც გტანჯავთ თურმე არ არის მხოლოდ თქვნი ტვირთი, სხვასაც შემთხვევია ანალოგიური, განუცდია და უპოვნია გამოსავალი. ცხოვრება ბევრნაირი შეიძლება იყოს, წაიკითხე და წარმოიდგინე თავი ამა თუ იმ პერსონაჟის ადგილას და თუ მოგეწონება, დაიჯერებ, რომ შენც შეგიძლია ასე იცხოვრო. როცა რაღაცის მტკიცედ გჯერა, მიზანი სანახევროდ მიღწეულია. >> საკუთარ თავში მომწონს უნარი, რომელიც წლების მანძილზე გამოვიმუშავე; ეს არის უარის თქმის შესაძლებლობა, ისე, რომ თავს დამნაშავედ არ ვგრძნობდე. ყველაზე მეტი შეცდომა ცხოვრებაში დამიშვია იმის გამო, რომ სხვისთვის მესიამოვნებინა, მეჩვენებინა ჩემი „სიძლიერე“ თუ „ერთგულება“, ამით კი არაერთხელ გამიჭყლიტავს საკუთარი თავი. მომწონს შინაგანი ძალა, რომელიც არავის მისცემს საშუალებას, მოგექცეს ისე, როგორც არ იმსახურებ, რადგან შენ ხარ ინდივიდი, რომელმაც საუკეთესო უნდა მიიღოს. მე ვისწავლე უარის თქმა და ამით უფორო ლაღი და ბედნიერი გავხდი. ამ თვისებამ მე უფრო თავისუფალი და თავდაჯერებული გამხადა.

>> What I like in myself is the ability that I have worked up throughout the years, which is the possibility of saying no without feeling guilty about it. The most of the mistakes I have made in life occurred due to others, just so I could please them and show my ‘strength’ or ‘loyalty’. I have ended up harming myself many a time as a result of this. The inner strength, which can prevent others from treating you unfairly, because you are an individual deserving the best you can get, which in itself is a huge success a person can achieve. I learned to say no and it made me far more careless and happy. This characteristic feature made me more free and self-confident.

What exactly is a uterine fibroid myoma? Uterine fibroid myoma is a disease, which forms as a benign tumour and develops in uterine muscular layer. It may be of several different types. There might occur both subserosal, i.e. a fibroid on the outer uterine wall, as well as intramural fibroid, which develops within the muscular layer of the uterine wall. Fibroids may grow both superficially and internally, the latter implying its development in the direction of uterus. There also exist submucosal fibroids, which develop inside the uterine cavity. At which age does a myoma occur? Statistically, a high probability of its development is between the ages of 27 and 45, however, there have been certain documented cases of its occurrence in earlier ages. What causes the disease? The causes are polythological, i.e. the reasons are diverse. Usually, it happens due to hormonal imbalance. What are the symptoms of the disease? In general, the main symptom is bleeding, which happens in the case of submucosal fibroid. Other types of fibroids have no clinical symptoms, until they reach a certain size and as a result of expansion, place pressure on surrounding organs and cause pain. In case of a superficial fibroid on the uterus, pathological processes develop, it might get bent and result into pain through pressure. If myoma does not always exhibit symptoms, what would your advice to women be? How can they avoid its growth and the consequent surgery called for by its growth?

რა არის საშვილოსნოს კვანძოვანი მიომა? საშვილოსნოს კვანძოვანი მიომა კეთილთვისებიანი სიმსივნის სახით წარმოიქმნება და ვითარდება საშვილოსნოს კუნთოვან შრეში. ის შეიძლება იყოს რამდენიმე სახეობის. აღინიშნება როგორც სუბსეროზული, ანუ ზედაპირული, ისე ინტრამორალური კვანძი, რომლებიც საშვილოსნოს კუნთოვან შრეშია განლაგებული. კვანძებს ახასიათებს როგორც ზედაპირული, ისე ცენტრაფიდელური ზრდა – რაც ნიშნავს განვითარებას საშვილოსნოს ღრუს მიმართულებით. არსებობს სუბმოკოზური კვანძიც, რომელიც უშუალოდ საშვილოსნოს ღრუში ვითარდება. რა ასაკში წარმოიქმნება, ძირითადად, მიომა? სტატისტიკურად მისი განვითარების მაღალი ალბათობა 27-დან 45 წლამდეა, თუმცა დაფიქსირებულა უფრო ადრეულ ასაკშიც. რა არის დაავადების გამომწვევი მიზეზები? პოლეთოლოგიურია, ანუ მრავალფეროვანია გამომწვევი მიზეზები. ძირითადად, ეს ხდება ჰორმონალური დარღვევის გამო. რა სიმპტომები აქვს დაავადებას? როგორც წესი, მთავარი სიპტომი არის სისხლდენა, რომელიც იწყება სუბმოკოზური მიომის შემთხვევაში. სხვა სახეობის კვანძს კლინიკური გამოვლინება არ აქვს, სანამ გარკვეულ ზომას არ მიაღწევს. ზრდის შედეგად ის აწვება გვერდითა ორგანოებს და იწვევს ტკივილს. როცა კვანძი საშვილოსნოს ფეხზეა, შესაძლოა მოხდეს პათოლოგია, გადაიგრიხოს და ამანაც გამოიწვიოს ტკივილი ზეწოლით.

Those women who have a genetic risk factor, need to be particularly attentive. They need to undergo gynecological examinations, such as examination of uterine neck, ultrasound monitoring of reproductive organs and other diagnostic tests. Let us discuss the myoma treatment in greater detail. Which stage is particularly acute? There are two major schemes: therapeutic and surgical. Often the treatment of fibroid myoma is administered erroneously. When the size of fibroid is no greater than 2-3 centimeters, it is not in the uterine cavity and does not cause bleeding, then this case requires no surgery whatsoever and can be treated therapeutically. The causes of fibroid formation might be either estrogenic or gestational. I strictly oppose hormonal treatment when the size of fibroid exceeds 5-6 centimeters. This is already a case that requires surgery. First and foremost, we do not know what kind of fibroid it is. It might be a leiomyoma, a benign soft tissue neoplasm… It is important for me to tell a patient the truth and not what they want to hear: ‘Uterus is meat, a fibroid is also meat and you cannot expect meat to dissolve from meat.’ The only case where we can stop the growth of myoma through therapeutic means, is if the treatment is correctly administered and we determine as to exactly what kind of fibroid we are dealing with, however, the effects are temporary and with the interruption of treatment, the fibroid starts growing even more rapidly. You cannot tell a patient suffering with myoma to wait and see how it develops. It would be the same as not to treat a patient who complains about coughing until it transforms into pneumonia. We should start treating myoma as soon as it is detected. What are the statistics of the disease in Georgia in the cases of its timely detection? The main thing is that due to the patient’s inattentiveness, the fibroid does not grow so much that we are unable to preserve the uterus. The 35% of operations performed here are related to fibroid myoma. In which cases is it possible to preserve uterus? It greatly depends on the number of fibroids, as well as on their placement and as to how well and undamaged the muscular layer of the uterus is preserved. However, a doctor’s professionalism and qualifications take center stage. We have had a case, where we managed to preserve uterus even after removing 32 fibroids and the patient had become pregnant a year later, giving birth to a healthy baby.

გენეტიკური ფაქტორის შემთხვევაში, როგორ უნდა აირიდოს ქალბატონმა დაავადება თავიდან? მნიშვნელოვანია განსაკუთრებული ყურადღება იმ პაციენტის მხრიდან, რომლის გენეტიკაც დამძიმებულია. აუცილებელია, ჩაიტაროს ისეთი გინეკოლოგიური გამოკვლევები, როგორიცაა საშვილოსნოს ყელის შესწავლა, გინეკოლოგიური ორგანოების ექოსკოპიური მონიტორინგი და ა.შ. უფრო დაწვრილებით განვიხილოთ მიომას მკურნალობა. რომელი ეტაპია განსაკუთრებით მწვავე? არსებობს ორი ძირითადი სქემა: თერაპიული და ქირურგიული. ხშირად კვანძოვანი მიომის კონსერვატიული მკურნალობა მიმდინარეობს ხოლმე მცდარად. როდესაც კვანძის ზომა 2-3 სანტიმეტრს არ აღემატება, საშვილოსნოს ღრუში არაა და სისხლდენას არ იწვევს, არ საჭიროებს ოპერაციას და მისი მკურნალობა შეიძლება თერაპიულად. კვანძის გამომწვევი მიზეზები კი შესაძლოა იყოს ესტროგენური ან გესტრაგენური ფაქტორი. მე ვეწინააღმდეგები ჰორმონალურ მკურნალობას. როდესაც კვანძის ზომა 5-6 სანტიმეტრს აღემატება, ეს უკვე ქირურგიული, საოპერაციო შემთხვევაა. ყველაფერს რომ თავი დავანებოთ, არ ვიცით რა სახის კვანძია. შესაძლოა ეს იყოს ლეომიომა, ლეოზური განვითარების ქსოვილოვანი კვანძი… მნიშვნელოვანია, პაციენტს ვუთხრათ სიმართლე და არა ის, რისი მოსმენაც მას სურს: „საშვილოსნო არის ხორცი, კვანძიც არის ხორცი. ხორციდან ხორცი ვერ გაიწოვება“. ერთადერთი, თუ სწორად იქნება მკურნალობა დანიშნული და მივხვდებით, რა სახის კვანძით გვაქვს საქმე, შესაძლოა თერაპიული მკურნალობით შევაჩეროთ მიომას ზრდა; თუმცა ეს ეფექტი დროებითია, რადგან მკურნალობის შეჩერებისას კვანძი გაძლიერებულად აგრძელებს ზრდას. არ შეიძლება მიომით დაავადებულ პაციენტს ვუთხრათ – „დავაცადოთ, დაველოდოთ მოვლენების განვითარებას“; ეს იგივეა, პაციენტს, რომელსაც აქვს ხველა, არ ვუმკურნალოთ, მანამ, სანამ ფილტვების ანთება არ დაემართება. აღმოჩენისთანავე მკურნალობა უნდა დავიწყოთ. საქართველოში როგორია დაავადების სტატისტიკა და მისი დროულად აღმოჩენის შემთხვევები? მთავარია, პაციენტის უყურადღებობის გამო, კვანძი ისე არ გაიზარდოს, რომ საშვილოსნოს შენარჩუნება შეუძლებელი გახდეს. ჩვენთან ჩატარებული ოპერაციების დაახლოებით 35% კვანძოვან მიომას უკავშირდება. რა შემთხვევაშია შესაძლებელი საშვილოსნოს შენარჩუნება? ეს დამოკიდებულია კვანძების რაოდენობაზე, მათ განლაგებაზე და იმაზე, თუ რამდენადაა შენარჩუნებული საშვილოსნოს კუნთოვანი შრე… თუმცა ყველაზე მთავარია ექიმის პროფესიონალიზმი და კვალიფიკაცია. გვქონია შემთხვევა, როდესაც 32 კვანძის ამოღების შემდეგაც შეგვინარჩუნებია საშვილოსნო და პაციენტი ერთი წლის შემდეგ დაორსულებულა და ჯანმრთელი შვილი გაუჩენია.

There is a theory, according to which during menopause the disease regresses and completely disappears all by itself, because in this period the amount of estrogens decreases. Does this theory have any grounds? In general, it is correct, but I would like to specify: the disease does not disappear, because as I have already mentioned, the myoma formed in the uterine cavity will never disappear all by itself. When a woman reaches menopause, the ovaries seize hormonal activity and as a result, a fibroid might stop the growth process. However, in Georgia, a high percentage of women carry excess weight and the body fat tends to produce estrogens, which feeds the disease and plays to its advantage.

Since when are the surgeries being performed in Georgia, which in case of existence of myoma allows the preservation of an organ? It has always existed in Georgia, ever since surgical procedures started and developed. Their success and intensity however, again depends on the professionalism of a doctor, especially when a clinic is focused on maximally saving and preserving an organ. Naturally, a radical decision on behalf of a surgeon is a much simpler way out, than preservation of an organ could ever be. If there is no categorical request from a patient to preserve an organ and if they are not sufficiently informed, both doctors and the clinic choose to amputate it. However, I would like to reiterate, that a professional might even manage to rebuild uterus even after a very complex operation. As you can see, the most significant precondition for a woman’s health is for them to be informed about their own state and stay in contact with a professional, highly qualified doctor, who will ensure their safety.

I myself have been following this principle for quite some time now. In order to strengthen my willpower, I set small tasks for myself, encourage myself by remembering that time is fleeting and continue along the established plan. You would agree, that this process with all its components is not always all that enticing, however, they bear the potential of becoming far more interesting when we fill ourselves with positive energy and take on each endeavour accordingly. This is how I arrived at an important motivator – find the spark of enthusiasm and kindle it on a daily basis. Periodically, I take various motivational letters from the training course by Brian Tracy. One of them starts out the following way: Hello Mako, to put it simply, your success depends on your own ability to get results, for which people will be prepared to pay you a certain fee. Those who acquire new knowledge quickly and strive forward without hindrance become powerful. Such people tend to make the best decisions and have the most income…” What else could I possibly add?! I analyzed the acquired information, methodically changed my attitude and set out on the road to development. Naturally, you did it as well, since you are reading this column and share this viewpoint. ‘Think Positive’ – a good advice in itself needs a thorough examination in order not to have it remain another empty phrase uttered and forgotten. Such thinking affords us a power of mind, which unites happiness, inner cheerfulness, a healthy lifestyle and above all, attaining successful outcomes. The path leading to the ultimate goal sometimes needs paving, and at times can be quite tangled. However, no effort should be spared in order to conquer them. It might require some training of the willpower, but what can you do. As they say, ‘a rose without thorns has never been plucked’. If you are still hesitant as to how to do something with love, turn for help to imagining the advantageous and beneficial situations. You will soon feel that you are being filled with perseverance, then laziness disappears all by itself, then the sense of responsibility takes over, and then the inner stride cheers you up. Then you become more energetic, then each step forward makes you happy, then talk is substituted with fruitful work, then you taste the fruits of your labour and realize that it was all worth the invested energy. Then you are convinced that the promise made to yourself is the most valuable one. And so, on your way to achieving the goal, even the tedious process seems beautiful. The main thing is to bear in mind that you can always find the goal, the work and the dream, which invigorates us and equips us with unmatched strength. When we manage to find this spark in ourselves, it is only then that we radiate the most, we manage to do everything the best way possible and that being said, the most important thing is that we get accustomed to following our inner ray, which naturally leads us to victory. How was Georgia Healthcare Group created and which companies does it include?

როგორ შეიქმნა „საქართველოს ჯანდაცვის ჯგუფი“ და რა კომპანიებს აერთიანებს?

Georgia Healthcare Group is a subsidiary holding company of the Bank of Georgia Group, which includes EVEX Medical Corporation and the insurance company Imedi L. Initially we were offering our customers health, property, car and other insurance services. After implementation of the healthcare reform it became apparent that the market had a possibility of development in this direction. In general, healthcare business is not characterized by cycles and the level of income is quite high. Correspondingly, expansion of business onto this field piqued our interest and since 2010 we already were providing full service on the market of healthcare. Today, we already own EVEX Medical Corporation which includes 36 hospitals and 6 ambulatory clinics. We are also planning to expand our network in the future.

market in Georgia is on the early stages of its development, however, it possesses quite extensive development prospects. At this stage, the company’s strategy is aimed at the field of hospital and first aid services. In addition to this, we have also purchased two new hospitals, which we are now planning to rehabilitate. As a result, we will be able to offer our customers a high quality service.

What advantages do you have in the field of modern medicine and what are the criteria that invite customers to make use of your services? Our major advantage is the investment we make in human resources. We spend large sums for the purposes of training our employees, which in

turn is quite important for increasing the quality of healthcare services. We are now starting a nursing school, which will help us train and attract qualified personnel. The fact alone that we are the largest provider on the market gives us a significant advantage over our competitors. Accordingly, it is much simpler for us to ensure high quality in terms of service. What do you think are the major problems on the healthcare market at this stage and how can they be resolved? One of the most important issues is the lack of financial affordability for healthcare services. Unfortunately, the state cannot fully cover the expenses of the population on health services through its Universal Health Care programme. The key to improve this lies in the economic development and advancement of the country. Additionally, we are experiencing a deficit in healthcare services in Georgia, therefore, the population lacks access to them. To receive these services, patients have to travel abroad, which results in outflow of capital to foreign markets. Our goal is to implement innovative medical services in our network, make them affordable for the populace and contribute to minimizing the resources spent on medical services abroad and retain it within the borders instead.

What challenges did this process entail and what obstacles did you have to overcome to achieve it? On the way of transforming into a publicly held company it is necessary to adhere to the corporate management, transparency and reporting standards. When making an offer to the international market, a company should meet these standards on the

highest level possible, in order to have investors show interest in it. Bank of Georgia has been listed on the London Stock Exchange market since the year 2006. As far as we are concerned, as a subsidiary company, we have always aspired towards high standards. However, we still had to comply with certain regulations. Technically, it is not a simple process. Our goal was to be included in the premium listing, in which case, companies are expected to meet much higher standards. But eventually, this is exactly what generates interest amongst investors. And to generate this very interest, we had to conduct an active marketing campaign during 12 months in order to raise awareness of the company. What future prospects does the placement of your shares on London Stock Exchange entail and what are the projects you are planning to implement? After having our shares admitted to the premium listing of London Stock Exchange, we attracted $100 million investment, the major part of which is intended for rehabilitation of the two newly purchased hospitals. Additionally, we are planning to further expand and develop our ambulatory network in Tbilisi. Becoming a publicly held company entails far greater responsibility and a perpetual development process in order to attain better results. The existence of such companies is very important for Georgia, because they turn into a sort of measuring tool for the overall investment climate of the country. Correspondingly, we bear greater responsibility to perform better on the international market and present Georgia in a better light to make it attractive for foreign investments.

The world of fashion was taken aback with the new wave of changes on the 22nd of October, when Raf Simons, the chief designer and creative director parted ways with Dior. The Belgian designer renowned for his minimalist vision had been working with Dior since 2012, where he had replaced completely different from him Galliano. The designer’s decision was not all to unexpected, as Simons had complained more than once about the deficit of time. Other than that, rumours of his leaving were circulating in the fashion circles weeks before. After almost 4 years of cooperation, Simons left the fashion house with the following announcement: “With the fully forethought decision taken after long considerations, I choose to leave the position of the creative director in Dior. The decision will allow me to allocate sufficient time to my interests and develop my own brand. Christian Dior is the magnificent company, which afforded me an immeasurable privilege of working with them throughout these years and let me have several pages in the book of Dior. I would like to express my gratitude towards Bernard Arnault, who placed confidence in me and allowed me to work with this dream team.” Before leaving the fashion house, Simons unveiled his collection on the Paris Fashion Week and left to the followers of fashion the Dior’s spring-summer collection of 2016 – ready-to-wear.

Six days after Simons’s announcement and after several weeks from the last showing of BALENCIAGA’s now ex-creative director, the storm of autumn changes even breached in the Lanvin fashion house. I try my best to make everything I wear and everything they put on me during a show to fit me. Your advice to Georgian readers – My advice would be for everybody to look after themselves and be happy. The main thing is the character and what radiates from within, so what we wear becomes somewhat minor in importance. Our visual is based on the inner power we display, but good diet and healthy lifestyle are nonetheless significant, which is quite easily attainable. It is one of the unavoidable details for me. So whenever I am complimented due to my age, when people don’t believe that I am 38, I feel enormously happy and proud. What does your best day look like? – In this case I could split my answer in two concepts. I love my job and working very much. I can work all day and by the evening feel pleasantly tired. For instance, if you are in possession of several houses and country-houses, sell some of them and retain only the buildings that you love the most and use frequently. Do you own several cars? Sell some of them, and so on. Ideally you could also purchase a bicycle. It is an idea worthy of consideration, just for the reason of this mode of transportation becoming so trendy lately. You will feel the increased interest your friends will show towards your new hobby and quite possibly, you might soon see those very friends switch to bikes as well. Riding a bike can also contribute to your increased physical activity and lead to improving your health. A bicycle is especially convenient lately, because the usage of bike lanes is slowly gaining foothold in our country. Take a good look at your wardrobe and sort your clothes. You are sure to find a number of dresses, skirts and scarfs, that you have purchased but never worn. Reshuffling your wardrobe can help you not only rediscover the long-forgotten items of clothing, but also to fully utilize it. The second meeting of Business Café Consultancy company Insource and PASHA Bank hosted the second meeting at Business Café. The meeting was held at Holiday Inn Tbilisi. Among the guests were representatives of top management of the leading Georgian businesses. The meeting was moderated by Mr. Alexander Jejelava and the main topic of this very interactive discussion was organizational corporate culture. The project aims to arrange meetings of top-management representatives from different companies where they will be able to discuss specific work-related topics and share experience with each other. The invited guests discussed the examples of the corporate culture of their own companies, its importance and the ways of its development. There is a rising interest in Business Café meetings from the managers of large and successful companies. ბიზნეს კაფეს მეორე შეხვედრა 25 ნოემბერს საკონსულტაციო კომპანია „ინსორსმა“, „პაშა ბანკის“ მხარდაჭერით, პროექტ „ბიზნეს კაფეს“ ფარგლებში, უკვე მეორე შეხვედრას უმასპინძლა. შეხვედრა სასტუმრო Holiday Inn Tbilisi-ში გაიმართა. სტუმრებს შორის იყვნენ საქართველოს წამყვანი ბიზნესების უმაღლესი რგოლის მენეჯერები. „ბიზნეს კაფეს“ მეორე შეხვედრას უძღვებოდა ალექსანდრე ჯეჯელავა, რომელმაც სტუმრებს განსახილველ თემად ორგანიზაციული კულტურა შესთავაზა და საღამო გამორჩეულად ინტერაქტიულად წარმართა. პროექტის მიზანია ქართულ ბიზნესის უმაღლესი რგოლის მენეჯერების პერიოდული შეხვედრა, გამოცდილებისა და საუკეთესო პრაქტიკის ერთმანეთისთვის გაზიარების მიზნით. მოწვეულმა სტუმრებმა განიხილეს საკუთარი ორგანიზაციული კულტურის მაგალითები, იმსჯელეს მის მნიშვნელობასა და განვითარების გზებზე. „ბიზნეს კაფეს“ შეხვედრები უკვე საკმაოდ მაღალი დაინტერესებით სარგებლობს საქართველოში მოქმედი მსხვილი და წარმატებული კომპანიების უმაღლესი რგოლის მენეჯერებს შორის. მომავალ წელს „ბიზნეს კაფეს“ შეხვედრები გაგრძელდება და კიდევ ბევრ სიახლეს შესთავაზებს სტუმრებს. „პაშა ბანკი“ ყოველთვის ცდილობს, მხარი დაუჭიროს ბიზნეს სექტორში პროფესიული ზრდისკენ მიმართულ პროექტებს და მოხარული ვართ, რომ მოგვეცა საშუალება, ჩავრთულიყავით ამ საინტერესო და სასარგებლო წამოწყებაში,“ – განაცხადა „პაშა ბანკის“ საზოგადოებასთან ურთიერთობისა და მარკეტინგის დეპარტამენტის უფროსმა, ანანო ქორქიამ.

National Tourism

Awards 2015 The very first Awards Ceremony of the Welcome to Georgia! National Tourism Awards was held at Funicular Restaurant Complex on the 20th of November, 2015. More than 350 guests â&#x20AC;&#x201C; General Managers and owners of the best hotels, restaurants, wineries of the country, the market leading developers, the main businesses of the country, Government officials, national and local authorities, representatives of the largest hotel operators, travel agencies and tour operators, mass media and industry press - were attended the Ceremony.

The main mission of the project is to promote countryâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s tourism and hospitality industry in a new level and develop the tourism and hospitality progress of the country, it is a chance to celebrate the highest-achieving tourism businesses and brands that work towards creating a positive image of Georgia worldwide. The event showed us deep interest from the organizations that are involved in tourism sector. The process was fair and award ceremony was excellent possibility for each participant to demonstrate their service and capabilities. The event was the arena for true competitiveness. On the Ceremony, there were winners and finalists named in 21 categories of nominations. The Awards Team congratulates to all the mentioned winners, finalists, participants and guests.

ტურიზმის ეროვნული დაჯილდოება 2015 მოგესალმებით საქართველოში! ტურიზმის ეროვნული დაჯილდოება 2015-ის პირველი ცერემონიალი 2015 წლის 20 ნოემბერს ჩატარდა, რესტორან „ფუნიკულიორში“. ღონისძიებას 350-ზე მეტი სტუმარი დაესწრო. დაჯილდოების ცერემონია სამი ნაწილისაგან შედგებოდა: პირველი იყო მოსული სტუმრების სასმელზე მიპატიჟება, სადაც ისინი გაეცნნენ ერთმანეთს, ისაუბრეს და ღონისძიების ძირითადი ნაწილის – დაჯილდოების ცერემონიისათვის შეემზადნენ. ამ ეტაპზე ყველა აღტაცებით ელოდა გამარჯვებულების გამოვლენას. მესამე ნაწილი მოიცავდა წვეულებას ღონისძიების შემდეგ, რომელზეც სტუმრებმა სასიამოვნო დრო გაატარეს, დატკბნენ ცოცხალი მუსიკით, გემრიელი საკვებითა და დამამშვიდებელი გარემოთი. ცერემონიაზე გამოვლინდნენ 21 სხვადასხვა კატეგორიის ნომინაციის ფინალისტები და გამარჯვებულები. ორგანიზატორები ულოცავენ ყველა გამარჯვებულს, ფინალისტს, მონაწილესა და სტუმარს.

Footwear Festival was held between 5th and 18th of November. It was the second ever festival to be held by the International Corporation ICR in its retail chain. The participants of the event were brands, such as: Bata, Bambino, Ecco, Geox, Corso Italia, Tamaris, Skechers, Studio Shoes Gallery. Within the framework of the festival, during two weeks, customers purchasing any product of the brands listed above, were offered a chance to take advantage of increasing discount. Participants also had a possibility to randomly select desired discount. In parallel to these promotions, brand days were also held, which afforded the customers a chance to learn more about a specific brand and qualify for a discount of up to 50% on selected collection. During the brand days, each customer received presents from the International Corporation ICR. On each weekend between 5th and 18th of November, there were special events held in the shopping centers â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Tbilisi Mall and East Point. The customers participated in photo competitions, fun games and quizzes on the companyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Facebook page, as well as in its retail chain and shopping centers. ICR offered this delightful gift to its loyal customers mid-season, which was twice as pleasant for the guests of the festival. After all, it is the period when footwear becomes the center of attention for all and no doubt, one can never have enough of good shoes.

ფეხსაცმლის ფესტივალი 5-დან 18 ნოემბერამდე მიმდინარეობდა. ეს მეორე ფესტივალი, იყო რომელიც „საერთაშორისო კორპორაცია აი სი არმა“ ჩაატარა საკუთარ მაღაზიათა ქსელში. ღონისძიებებში ჩართულები იყვნენ ისეთი ბრენდები, როგორიცაა: „ბატა“, „ბამბინო“, „ეკკო“, „ჯეოქსი“, „კორსო იტალია“, „ტამარისი“, „სკეჩერსი“, „სტუდიო ფეხსაცმლის გალერეა“. ფესტივალის ფარგლებში, ორი კვირის განმავლობაში, მომხმარებელი ნებისმიერი ზემოთ ჩამოთვლილი ბრენდის პროდუქტის ყოველი შეძენისას სარგებლობდა მზარდი ფასდაკლებით. მონაწილეებს ასევე ჰქონდათ შესაძლებლობა, თავად აერჩიათ ფასდაკლება, შემთხვევითობის პრინციპით. ამ აქციების პარალელურად მიმდინარეობდა ბრენდის დღეები, რაც მომხმარებელს საშუალებას აძლევდა, გაეგო მეტი კონკრეტული ბრენდის შესახებ და მიეღო დამატებით 50%-მდე ფასდაკლება მითითებულ კოლექციაზე. ბრენდის დღეებში ყველა მყიდველი იღებდა საჩუქრებს „საერთაშორისო კორპორაცია აი სი არისგან“. 5-დან 18 ნოემბრამდე ყოველ შაბათ-კვირას ტარდებოდა სპეციალური ღონისძიებები სავაჭრო ცენტრებში: „თბილისი მოლი“ და „ისთ ფოინთი“. მომხმარებელი ჩართული იყო ფოტოკონკურსებში, სახალისო შეჯიბრებებსა და ვიქტორინებში, როგორც კომპანიის ფეისბუქ გვერდზე, ისე მაღაზიებსა და სავაჭრო ცენტრებში. ეს სასიამოვნო საჩუქარი „აი სი არმა“ თავის ერთგულ მომხმარებელს გარდამავალ სეზონზე მოუწყო, რაც ორმაგად სასიამოვნო იყო ფესტივალის სტუმრებისთვის; ფეხსაცმელი ხომ ამ დროს აქტუალურობის პიკს აღწევს – თანაც, მოგეხსენებათ, კარგი ფეხსაცმელი არასოდეს არის საკმარისი.

EISENBERG in Georgia!

On the 4th of December, the perfume retail chain LUTECIA introduced a new French brand EISENBERG PARIS on a LUTECIA Party. LUTECIA PARTY 2015 was scheduled to have been held on the 14th of November, however, unfortunately, due to the tragic events that unfolded in France, it was postponed for a while and was instead held on the 4th of December In the Funicular restaurant. The evening was accompanied with pleasant music. A special press conference was held for the media, where they were acquainted with the peculiar concept of the brand, the history of its creation and its products, which are available exclusively in the perfume retail chain LUTECIA. The press conference was followed by a closed evening - LUTECIA PARTY 2015, which is held at an annual basis for the loyal customers of LUTECIA. The guests were greeted by Vakhtang Pkhakadze, the founder of LUTECIA, spoke about the entering of EISENBERG to Georgia and expressed gratitude for years of loyalty and cooperation. A special guest, the representative of EISENBERG, Jan-Luke Troniogn , presented the history of the brand and its many yearsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; experience. The guests were invited to participate in games to win prizes, take fun photos and place their signature in the history of LUTECIA.

fter a long pause, writer Giorgi Kekelidze’s poetry reading was organized in club Zazanova, at 19:00, 7th of December. He read poems from his own col-

lected works published in 2008: “Odes” and “Poetry 20082013” (Giorgi Kekelidze, April 10, 1984, Ozurgeti) – Georgian poet, novelist, essayist, lecturer, TV host, General Director of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia (since 2012 to this day). Kekelidze is a winner of the literary award SABA, winner of Tsinandali award, as well as the founder and editor in-chief of the electronic library lib.ge. The evening was accompanied by the musicians Ake Pataraia and Giorgi Trapaidze. Guests were charged an entrance fee. Part of the income was used for libraries in a region of Georgia, namely Guria region. Giorgi Kekelidze purchased new books for them. The organizers are planning to continue holding similar events in the future as well.

დეკემბერს, 19:00 საათზე, კლუბ „ზაზანოვაში“, დიდი პაუზის შემდეგ, ჩატარდა მწერალ გიორგი კეკელიძის პოეზიის საღამო. მან წაიკითხა ლექსები 2008 წელს გამოცემულ ლექსების კრებულებიდან – „ოდები“ და „პოეზია 20082013“. ქართველი პოეტი, პროზაიკოსი, ესეისტი, ლექტორი, ტელეწამყვანი, საქართველოს პარლამენტის ეროვნული ბიბლიოთეკის გენერალური დირექტორი, გიორგი კეკელიძე, დაიბადა 1984 წლის 10 აპრილს, ოზურგეთში. ის არის „საბას“ პრემიის ლაურეატი, წინანდლის პრემიის ლაურეატი, ელექტრონულ ბიბლიოთეკა lib.ge-ის დამფუძნებელი და მთავარი რედაქტორი. საღამოს მუსიკალურად აფორმებდენ მუსიკოსი აკე პატარაია და გიორგი ტრაპაიძე. საღამო ფასიანი იყო. შემოსული თანხის ნაწილი მოხმარდა საქართველოს რეგიონში, კერძოდ გურიაში, არსებულ ბიბლიოთეკებს. გიორგი კეკელიძემ მათთვის ახალი წიგნები შეიძინა. ორგანიზატორები მსგავსი საღამოების ჩატარებას მომავალშიც აპირებენ.

the 11th of December, the traditional event organized by EGO Magazine â&#x20AC;&#x201C; Ego Networking Event was held in the city council building. This time, most of the evening was dedicated to awarding young journalists. The case being, that EGO Magazine held a competition for aspiring journalists, as a result of which 3 first prizes and 10 winners were selected. The winners were awarded cash prizes and gifts from Swatch, Swarovski and Frey Wille. The guests were treated to a buffet by hypermarket chain Smart.
