“La mia ricetta è semplice: in questa estate un po’ strana, regaliamoci una volta al mese un’esperienza culturale. Andiamo a visitare un museo, compriamo il biglietto per un concerto o per uno spettacolo teatrale. Se lo facessimo tutti, ognuno di noi si arricchirebbe interiormente e il patrimonio artistico ne trarrebbe un grande beneficio. Per questo dal 31 luglio noi a Torino abbiamo deciso di tornare ai nostri orari abituali, 7 giorni su 7, aperti 364 giorni all’anno: per ritornare a essere il museo di tutti, per metterci alle spalle le difficoltà che stiamo affrontando. Un ritorno alla normalità e un richiamo all’articolo 9 della Costituzione italiana, che pone la promozione della cultura fra i principi fondamentali del nostro vivere democratico”. Christian Greco, Premio Masi per la Civiltà Veneta nel 2018, è alla guida del più antico museo al mondo dedicato alla cultura egizia, che per valore e per numero di reperti è considerato il più importante dopo quello del Cairo. “My idea is simple: in this somewhat strange summer, let’s treat ourselves to a cultural experience once a month. We’ll go to visit a museum, and buy a ticket for a concert or for a theatre show. If we all did this, each of us would be enriched personally and the artistic heritage would benefit greatly. For this reason, from 31st July, we in Turin have decided to return to our usual opening times – 7 days a week, 364 days a year – to get back to being everyone’s museum, and to put these difficulties we are facing behind us. It’s a return to normality and a nod to article 9 of the Italian Constitution, which declares culture one of the fundamental principles of our democratic life.” Christian Greco, winner of the Masi Prize for Venetian Civilisation 2018, is at the helm of the oldest museum in the world dedicated to Egyptian culture, considered second only to Cairo in terms of the value and number of exhibits.
