Goa's Top B-School Hosts Largest Virtual Convocation Ceremony For PGDM Batches of 2020 and 2021
Top B-School Goa Institute of Management (GIM) recently hosted its largest virtual convocation ceremony for all four PGDM program batches of 2020 and 2021. It was the first convocation ceremony of the Big Data Analytics program. After having completed over 22 months of
academically packed intensive training with exposure to industrial projects, a total of 842 students were conferred their diplomas at the convocation ceremony. While presenting the Director's Report on the institute's performance for the last
academic year, Dr. Ajit Parulekar, Director, GIM, said, "Despite all odds, we were able to achieve 100% placement across all programs. Graduating in the midst of COVID-19's ambiguity and turbulence has been very difficult, but I guarantee that GIM grads are prepared to succeed no matter what the situation.” Dr. Ajit continued, “Emphasis should be given on lifelong ongoing learning, a positive attitude, and understanding the value of your loved ones. These values will build great leaders and eventually help build a successful career.” Ashank Desai, Chairman of the
GIM Board of Governors and Founder of Mastek, said, “The key takeaway should be adaptability. Great leaders will act quickly, survive and emerge victorious in this fastchanging world.” Over the years GIM has earned the distinction of being one of the country's best management schools. GIM's strength is its diversity, whether that diversity is academic, ethnic, or social. The institute presently boasts of its outstanding students, excellent infrastructure, and the best talent that makes up its core faculty. Through the various shortcomings during the pandemic, the faculty made sure the level of education and training does not get hampered and that the students are prepared at par with the industry level.
Capacity Building Program on How To Boost Exports
Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) in association with EEPC India, Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC), Goa State Industries Association (GSIA) organised a full day seminar 'Capacity Building Program How to boost exports of Engineering products from Goa' on 16th March, 2022. Association of Information Technology in his s p e e c h emphasized on the urgent need to align India's export strategy on a portled growth which has been success story in many countries across the globe. He mentioned that the Goan port is not capable of handling the cargo needs and that it should not be looked upon as the one to serve the future needs of the industry rather the state should work on utilizing other all its strengths and creating a Dry port or Container Freight Station (CFS). Mr Ralph de Sousa, President, GCCI in his address mentioned that Goa is
positioned in a very strategic position in terms of logistical connectivity and availability of ports via sea, air or rail infrastructure required for exports. Sharing excerpts from the Eport preparedness survey report 2020 made by NITI aayog, he said that Goa's index of 40.94 is just below 45.80 of Delhi which suggests the presence of a conducive environment for overall exports. Mr Mahesh Desai, Chairman, EEPC India in his speech stressed on the point of building a clear vision & roadmap for our future, discovering new possibilities and exploring new technological opportunities. He highlighted that the contribution of the state placing it at the 18th position in the country and that its
exports which values more than 2 billion dollars are mainly in pharmaceutical sector. He also stated the key factors which will boost exports mainly being growth of the manufacturing sector, eliminating the transportation problems, ensuring last mile connectivity and the working of Government administration in tandem with the exporters. The other dignitaries on the dais being Mr Saurabh Shah, President(WR), IACC, Dr Rajat Srivastava, Regional Director (WR), EEPC India, Mr Santosh Kenkre, Chairman, IACC-Goa Chapter, Mr Vishwanath Kochkar, President, GSIA also spoke. The seminar concluded with Vote of Thanks by Mr Sanjay Amonkar, Director General, GCCI.
