My club has been hard at work to complete our own event. Most of the events hosted at our school have always been by Student Council. Our Key Club came up with our own idea that will be the first for us. We are going to host a talent show. We have been hard at work coming up with everything. Such as should we present an award to the winner? Should we just give them a title? What snacks are we going to need? Just the basics of hosting an event. My group has been hard at work on creating posters and flyers to help spread awareness about our event. We first made flyers asking people to audition if they have a talent that they would like to share. Then for the next flyers, we just put when the talent show is so people know when they want to show up. Our sponsor has been hard at work to make sure everything is ready by then. He’s put in a lot of work that no one really sees because it’s behind the stage. Everyone has just helped so much to help make our idea come to life.
Our Talent Show will have judges that consist of both students and teachers. We will be selling concessions. Most of our slots got filled up except like 3 so we have a lot of people ready to perform. One of our teachers who knows how to do magic will also be participating. I think a lot of people in my grade are ready to see him. The other grades not so much since they don’t know him as much but I think they will still be impressed.
This is also helpful for some of our members because they can choose to run concessions which can help give them hours. People can get volunteer hours for helping set up the stage and cleaning up. We’re offering different types of opportunities for our members to help them get all their hours. Especially since a lot of them say that there aren’t a lot of things to volunteer for We are trying to offer as many possibilities as possible.
