HISTORY/SOCIAL STUDIES CERTIFICATION JOHN M. VOHLIDKA, Ph.D., Program Director Students majoring in History/Social Studies qualify for Teacher Certification in Social Studies/ Secondary Education; and Plan B: a B.A. in Social Science without education courses. Students selecting Plan B need not take courses in Education. Students study broadly in the fields of history, political science, geography, economics, sociology, anthropology and psychology. Aims and Objectives The objectives of the program are: (1) to give the students an opportunity to become broadly educated in the fields of history, political science, geography and economics; and (2) to provide a program of teacher education which promotes growth, development, professionalism and expertise for successful teaching.
