INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES REV. T. SHANE MATHEW, Program Director Individualized Studies Program This interdisciplinary studies program allows students to design their own curriculum based on personal preferences and career goals. It leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree. With Program Director approval, students can select courses from two (Option A) or three (Option B) program areas offered anywhere in the university. This program provides the flexibility to explore historical, social and cultural perspectives while also considering the problems and issues of contemporary society. Career preparation comes from choosing appropriate courses that foster administrative skills (e.g., researching, critical thinking, organizing, planning, creating, decision-making and communicating clearly orally and in writing). Students always work in close consultation with the Program Director. Career opportunities can include communication, media advertising, professional writing, government service, law school, banking, insurance, science, language and a host of other specializations depending on the chosen discipline. Students will meet with the Program Director and draft a tentative course of study. From the electives available, students are strongly encouraged to earn a minor to complement their major discipline. The Program Director will coordinate each student’s program with faculty chosen from the fields of concentration.
