Astrid Riecken è una pluri-premiata fotografa tedesco-americana, con sede a Washington, DC e New York City. Dall’agosto 2016, Riecken ricopre l’incarico di professoressa a contratto presso la Corcoran School of the Arts and Design della George Washington University, dove insegna fotografia documentaria e fotogiornalismo. Nel 2020 Riecken ha altresì iniziato ad insegnare design, cinema e fotografia presso la School of Communication della American University. Riecken ha vinto numerosi premi in numerosi concorsi nazionali e internazionali, tra cui il Picture of the Year International (Poyi), il Best of Photography (BOP) della National Press Photographers Association e il concorso WHNPA (White House News Photographers Association) in cui è stata nominata “Photographer of the Year” nel 2014. Astrid Riecken is a German-American award-wining photographer, based in Washington, D.C., and New York City. Since August 2016, Riecken additionally holds a position as adjunct professor at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design of the George Washington University where she teaches documentary photography and photojournalism. In 2020 Riecken also began teaching design, film and photography in the School of Communication at American University. Riecken has won numerous awards in many national and international competitions, among those are Picture of the Year International (Poyi), National Press Photographers Association’s Best of Photography (BOP) and the White House News Photographers Association (WHNPA) competition in which she was named “Photographer of the Year” in 2014. Her documentary and fine art photography has been published in The Washington Post, The New York Times, Die Zeit, Time Magazine, and many others. In 2018 her fine art photography named ‘The Samantha Series’ was exhibited in a solo show at the Goethe Institute in Washington, D.C..
