Over the last century, the company has expanded geographically beyond Southern Africa, and branched out to other industries and service areas. Its mining and infrastructure expertise has been applied to hundreds of surface and underground mining projects in every major mining district in the world, and the company has pioneered and advanced the development of alternative tailings management technologies. Today, Knight Piésold is an employee-owned, global consulting firm providing specialist services to businesses operating in the mining, power, water resources, infrastructure, and oil and gas industries. The 850-strong team operates from 27 offices across 15 countries. With a global workforce, diversified business lines, and a continued focus on collaboration, Knight Piésold has created a solid foundation for delivering the best technical solutions for our clients. Knight Pièsold’s growth internationally has happened without the company losing its unique culture, identity and heritage; and without needing to be acquired by a global company to grow and expand. In fact, through organic growth and expansion, Knight Piésold has grown into a truly international organisation, with offices in Australia, North and South America, the UK, and throughout the African continent. Despite being a global firm, operations are grounded and strengthened by the local environment and supported by employees native to the country. In Africa, Knight Piésold believes there is tremendous opportunity for social development and economic growth, which will be driven by the energy, mining and infrastructure sectors. Understanding the growth opportunities across the continent has seen Knight Pièsold entrench its footprint in new regions and build up its resources in existing countries. Knight Piésold remains committed to being strategic partners in the countries in which it has a footprint, and also being able to contribute to growth by providing much-needed employment opportunities using the local talent pool. Despite being the oldest civil engineering consultancy in South Africa, Knight Piésold is young at heart, with the average age of its employees being just 39 years. This youthfulness is also reflected in the company’s management structures, with its exco also having an average age of 39. This is a significant achievement in a country where the management structures are generally dominated by a much older generation from the 50-60 age group.
