獎項介紹 DISSERTATION OF GOLDEN PIN DESIGN AWARD
金點設計獎源自 1981 年、創立於台灣，是全球華人市場具權威性與影 響 力 之 專 業 設 計 獎 項， 現 由 台 灣 設 計 研 究 院 (Taiwan Design Research Institute, TDRI) 辦理獎項與策劃頒獎典禮及相關活動。自 2015 年起，
金點設計獎針對不同目標族群，分設「金點設計獎」、「金點概念設計 獎」及「金點新秀設計獎」等三大獎賽，旨在褒揚傑出的創新設計產品 與作品。
Established in 1981, Taiwan's Golden Pin Design Award is the most influential design award in the global Huaren market. The planning and handling of the awards, the prize-giving ceremony, and all other related activities are executed by Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI). In 2015, the Golden Pin Design Award launched three separate awards — the GOLDEN PIN DESIGN AWARD, GOLDEN PIN CONCEPT DESIGN AWARD, and YOUNG PIN DESIGN AWARD. The purpose of each award is to commend outstanding innovation in design within different target demographics.

獎項介紹
金 點 設 計 獎 GOLDEN PIN DESIGN AWARD
金點設計獎參賽作品須為已商品化及上市銷售之作品，申請者可為業 者或設計團隊。每年透過嚴謹公正的專業評審制度，遴選出上百件作 品授與「金點設計標章」，代表對於作品品質的肯定，並從中評選出「金 點設計獎年度最佳設計獎」，授予象徵至高榮譽的證書及獎座，具有 高度公信力。 The Golden Pin Design Award recognizes commercialized products and completed projects (not concept). The vendor applicant can be a business entity or design team. Each year, through a rigorous and impartial judging process led by industry experts, more than one-hundred products and projects are selected to receive the coveted Design Mark certificate in recognition of outstanding design. A small selection of the Design Mark recipients are then chosen to receive the Best Design trophy. The Golden Pin Design Award certificate and trophy is an influential signifier of quality in design.

金 點 概 念 設 計 獎 GOLDEN PIN CONCEPT DESIGN AWARD
金點概念設計獎針對尚未量產銷售之作品、非客戶委託專案及未實際 執行之提案，開放世界各地學生、設計師或公司，提出與眾不同的新 穎創意或解決方案。每年評選出「金點概念設計獎」得獎作品，並授 予標章使用權，並從中評選出「金點概念設計獎年度最佳設計獎」得主， 授予證書、獎座及獎金，期望聚集全球創新概念，成為廣納未來創新設 計之平台。 The Golden Pin Concept Design Award is open to products and projects that have not yet been mass-produced, sold on the market or in active development. It welcomes students, designers, and companies from all over the world, and is open for creative ideas and unorthodox solutions that break new ground. Winners of the annual award are granted the right to use the coveted Design Mark. The Best Design winners receive a certificate, award trophy, and a cash prize. The Golden Pin Concept Design Award gathers together innovative design concepts from all around the globe, and creates a platform for future innovation in design.

Best of Golden Pin Design Award
2020 金點設計獎共收到 2 , 333 件、來自全球 20 地的優秀設計作品參 賽，包括台灣、中國大陸、香港、澳門、新加坡、日本、馬來西亞、韓 國、澳洲、泰國、德國、加拿大、波蘭、汶萊、印度、印尼、美國、英 國、菲律賓、瑞士等地作品，爭取獎項殊榮。經評審團嚴謹評選與討論， 今年選出 526 件作品榮獲「金點設計標章」，其中 83 件入圍「金點設 計獎年度最佳設計獎」，並從中評選出 24 件「金點設計獎年度最佳設 計獎」得主，授予象徵至高榮譽的證書及獎座。 此外，今年亦選出 1 件「金點設計獎年度特別獎—循環設計」、2 件「金 點設計獎年度特別獎—社會設計」，表彰符合獎項精神、具社會及產業 典範意義的作品，並特別頒發 1 位「金點設計獎最佳設計成就獎」得主， 針對台灣設計界具代表性、且擁有傑出成就與貢獻者予以表揚。
The Golden Pin Design Award 2020 received a total of 2,333 entries from 20 countries and regions all around the globe, including Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Australia, Thailand, Germany, Canada, Poland, Brunei, India, Indonesia, United States, United Kingdom, Philippines, and Switzerland. Of those entries, 526 were granted the right to use the Design Mark. Another 83 were selected as the Finalists for Best Design, following a rigorous selection process and discussion among the jury. From this shortlist, 24 entries were chosen as the Best Design winners. In addition, the organizer also awarded the Golden Pin Design Award's Special Annual Award for Social Design and for Circular Design to entries with major social or industrial significance that meet the award criteria, along with an Honorary Award bestowed to commend individuals for their outstanding achievements in and contributions to the Taiwanese design scene.

取「坐」的縱橫筆劃帶入螢光桃紅識別，如椅子歷史中的新血，並 用線條與角度，創造有摺角與透視的「椅子座位字體」，搭配格線 貫穿全展，象徵平面與立體、過去與未來的對話。 This identity design was inspired by the vertical and horizontal strokes found in the Chinese character for "sit." The magenta lines were added to represent the constant infusion of new blood—new design ideas—in the history of chairs. A "chair font" was created whose lines and angles gave it the illusion of being three-dimensional. The font was superimposed on a grid to create the exhibition's brand identity that symbolized a conversation between flat planes and three-dimensional space and between the past and future.

The creative design of the workstation utilizes the steam bent wood to represent the core philosophy behind the chef's cooking, and by giving new life to the old wood, creates continuing value through the use of sustainable materials.

The interior incorporates elements found in and around Chiang Mai, including Bo Sang's famous oil-paper umbrellas and the Pha Chor canyon. This building is a contemporary interpretation of Northern Thai architecture that creates a conversation between the old and the new.

製菸工廠關廠後，花園歷經更迭，留下時間痕跡與自然歷程。改造 期望以不同方式重新與空間肌理發生關係，讓訪者駐足享受如過去 泡在澡堂的節奏，淨沐其中，帶來不同閱讀體驗。 Time and nature have both left their mark on this garden as the surrounding park went through various conversions after the old tobacco factory originally located here closed down. For this renovation, the designer wanted visitors to reconnect with the spatial context of the garden by creating a space where they could linger and soak in the atmosphere of a traditional bathhouse for a different reading experience.

預期未來社區應用藍圖，從一樓入口開始建立串連在地記憶的地 景。撇除過份具體的功能框架，以設計創造開啟對話的場域。因都 市化疏離的個體，能尋回圍繞樹相聚的群體凝聚引力。 This space was designed for future use by the local community. Starting from the entrance on the ground level, the space is designed without a rigidly-defined functional framework to better create a link to the collective memory of local residents. Through the use of design thinking, the designers have created a space that incites conversation and helps bring socially isolated city dwellers together to rediscover their past as a community that once held communal gatherings under the trees.

一場在歷史與彌新間對文資修復重新定義的創意策展。串連台中舊 城建築與記憶，用設計角度重新觀察城中城文化資產的可能。以修 復為原點、創作連結為徑，激盪出「 REUSE 」觀點漣漪。 REUSE 2019 was a creative exhibition that redefined the restoration of cultural heritage to achieve a balance between the historical and the contemporary. The exhibition strengthened links between the architecture of Taichung's Old Town area and the collective memory of the local community and incorporated design thinking to reexamine the potential of this city-within-a-city to become a cultural heritage site. With a heartfelt focus on historic restoration, this exhibition utilized creative design to start ripples that would soon spread the concept of reuse.

北花線公運美學計畫 TPE-HUN Public Transportation Aesthetics Project
由經濟部與交通部合作，將設計導入公運服務。以自然水色與鵝卵 石等花蓮在地元素打造主視覺，並以減法設計原則，全方面從品牌 路線、車體外觀、內裝優化等，打造最美移動風景。 This collaborative project between the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications introduced design thinking into public transportation. The key visual incorporated elements based on sights in Hualien such as the turquoise blues of the sea and the rounded pebbles that cover the local beaches. Subtractive design was utilized to create a comprehensive brand identity that was incorporated into the bus route, the bus exterior, and the interior optimization to create the most visually pleasing line of buses in Taiwan.

點亮十三層 Light up the 13 Layer Remains
以大自然母親的包容之光為照明理念，用輕柔妝點的手法親近遺 構，如莊子所言：「天地有大美而不言」，以光延伸歷史的靈魂， 寧靜而雋永，帶領大眾重新認識黃金山城之美。 This lighting design was centered on the theme of "Mother Nature's light of forgiveness." The soft lights dotted across the ruins evoke a quote from Zhuangzi: "Heaven and Earth proceed in the most admirable way, yet they speak not about it." The lighting preserved the spirit of history in a timeless stillness that allowed visitors to rediscover the beauty of this golden city in the mountains.

東引鄉門牌 The Doorplates Design for Dongyin Township
馬祖石厝貼近大地色系，門牌以馬祖色彩調查為依據，選用帶灰的 藍綠為輔助色。質地以陶瓷為主，運用樂高般拼法降低製版成本， 更與石牆的起伏貼合，成為融入環境的優雅配角。 The traditional stone houses of the Matsu Islands sport an earth-toned color palette. For this house number plate project, the designer studied the colors used on the islands before selecting grayish turquoise as a complementary color. The primarily ceramic number plates are pieced together from smaller parts like Lego pieces to reduce the cost of molding. This design choice also pairs well with the uneven surface of the stone walls, transforming the number plates into an elegant ornament that blends into the surrounding environment.

These illustrations of raptors incorporate visual references to their habitats, food sources, and interaction with humans, allowing the viewer to learn about the environment the raptors live in and potential threats in their habitats, thus raising the awareness of the issue of environmental conservation.

The design took advantage of the natural landscape and utilized an experimental design approach to create a new form of mountain retreat whose shape is carefully calculated, optimized, and realized with curved glue-laminated timber beams. This approach reduces manufacturing costs and minimizes ecological impacts.

用以收集雨水、將颱風強勁風力轉化成電力的大型颱風塔概念設 計。針對強風重新設計發電風扇尺度，並設計可配合風速調整開闔 的開口，自動增減風阻，避免耗損與提升收集效率。 This is a conceptual design for a large typhoon-powered wind turbine that can harness the power of typhoons and convert it into electricity. The fans were redesigned and scaled up to handle strong winds. A special opening was designed to automatically open or close depending on the wind speed, thus allowing the turbine to automatically increase or decrease wind resistance to prevent damage and improve wind efficiency.

The 2020 Golden Pin Concept Design Award has its own Special Annual Award for the first time. Titled the "ConceptD Award," it is set to be co-presented by the award organizers and Acer Inc. to encourage designers to boldly pursue innovation and creativity. 一款揉和隸書體與台灣廟宇燕尾造形的繁體中文字型，筆畫轉折如 拳頭有力，因此取名「拳體」。直筆與橫筆嘗試打破書法規則，傳 統韻味中流露摩登鋒芒，能輕鬆應用在多種情境。 This traditional Chinese typeface incorporates flourishes reminiscent of the swallowtail eaves of Taiwanese temples into the traditional clerical script (Lishu style). It was named Fist Font for the intense hooks and turns of its strokes that are as powerful as a fist. In its strokes, one can see how the designer broke with the boundaries of traditional calligraphy. The design of this font combines traditional sophistication with a modern flair, making it a font that can be easily used in different scenarios.

The Golden Pin Design Award's HONORARY AWARD is bestowed to commend individuals for their outstanding achievements in and contributions to the Taiwanese design scene. Candidates for the award are recommended by the Golden Pin Design Award jury and representatives of other design organizations in Taiwan. After the Final Selection jury reaches a decision, the award is granted to the winner in the form of a certificate and trophy that signify the highest honor in creative design.

現任德國紅點設計獎榮譽推廣大使、台灣設計研究院總顧問及董事、亞 太文化創意產業協會理事、台灣設計聯盟顧問。台灣首位三度獲選國際 工業設計社團協會理事（全球僅 10 位），在推動國際設計交流、提升 台灣設計之國際地位，成就非凡。 重 要 經 歷 包 括： 協 助 台 北 市 取 得 2011 年「 世 界 設 計 大 會 」（ IDA Congress ）主辦權，並邀集全球 56 國設計人士與會，獲譽為樹立「國
際設計聯盟」（ IDA ）之標竿。同年推動舉辦全球首次跨領域「臺北世 界設計大展」，展出規模之大為世界首見，吸引逾 136 萬人次參觀，盛 況空前。此外亦於台北成立全球華人首座設計博物館，催生台灣設計產 業發展之整合服務平台。上述成果不僅為台灣設計界奠定里程碑，更大 為提升全民對設計美學的認知，促使產官學界重視設計價值，成效廣受 國內外肯定，亦有助提升台灣設計軟實力之國際能見度及地位。 張光民更致力結合各領域設計組織，成立「台灣設計聯盟」（ TDA ）， 並獲選首任理事長，促成跨領域設計合作之先河。在國內，他積極提出 設計政策建言，推動導入設計思考，廣為產官學界採納應用，後續效益 持續擴散；在國際，更持續推動設計交流，除活躍於諸多跨國設計組織， 更多次受邀擔任德國紅點等指標性設計獎項評審，代表台灣發聲，提升 國際設計社群對台灣設計之認知。
Chang currently serves as an Ambassador of the Red Dot Network, director / chief advisor of the Taiwan Design Research Institute, director of the Asia-Pacific Cultural Creative Industry Association, and consultant of the Taiwan Design Alliance. He is the first Taiwanese and one of only ten individuals in the world to be named to the Executive Board of the World Design Organization (formerly known as the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design, ICSID) three times. Chang has achieved extraordinary accomplishments in promoting international design exchanges and elevating the status of Taiwanese design on the world stage.

Chang has greatly advanced the Taiwanese design scene. He helped Taipei City win the right to host the 2011 International Design Alliance (IDA) Congress; the event was attended by design professionals from fifty-six countries around the world and was hailed as a benchmark event for the IDA. He also organized the Taipei World Design Expo—the first and largest interdisciplinary design exposition in the world—in the same year. The Expo attracted an unprecedented
1.36 million visitors. Chang also founded the Taiwan Design Museum in Taipei as the first museum to serve the global Huaren community and established an integrated service platform to further the development of the Taiwanese design industry. These important milestones in Taiwanese design have raised the awareness of the Taiwanese people in regard to design aesthetics and spurred the public, industrial, and academic sectors to place greater value on creative design. The results of his achievements have been recognized both domestically and internationally, helping to increase the visibility and elevate the status of Taiwan's soft power in design. Chang's commitment to bringing together organizations in different fields of design led him to found the Taiwan Design Alliance (TDA). He was appointed the first chair of TDA and led the way in facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration within the design community. Chang's policy proposals to promote design thinking have been widely adopted in the public, industrial, and academic sectors, and have led to growing benefits. Today, he continues to facilitate international design exchanges. As an active participant in many international design organizations, Chang has been invited multiple times to serve on the juries of many design awards, including Red Dot Design Award, to represent Taiwan and increase the international visibility of Taiwanese design.
