Why do golfers usually wear a glove on the left hand when they are righted-handed or vice versa? 為何慣用右手的人通常將手套戴在左手，反之亦然？ A golfer gets their power from the hand closest to the end of the club. So, to have the best grip, you wear a glove on the left hand for a right-handed player. Your right hand is more for correct positioning. 高爾夫球員會從球桿末端的那隻手取得力量發球，所以為了抓好球桿，右手球員會在左手穿戴手套；而右手的作 用則是為了保持抓桿及下桿位置正確。
Why are they called Caddies? 球童的英文 Caddy 一詞從何而來？ The origins are not clear but an interesting story is that the word “caddy” came from the French word “cadet” meaning a young man in the military. In France, a cadet would carry the golf clubs of French Royalty. If there is a ball on the putting green and you hit that ball from off the green then there is no penalty and the ball on the green is placed back to its original position. Post press conference, an evening gala dinner was held where the players and organisers could relax and enjoy the night with Hainan’s traditional dance before the real business begins. A light-hearted competition then followed with each player leading a team of three juniors to see who could drive the ball nearest to the flag which was 72 yards away testing their accuracy. Shanshan and Suzann’s team were tied for first place and entered sudden death where Shanshan’s team was triumphant. With its simple layout and Nepalese inspired decor, "Nepal" adds its unique flavour to the already diverse eateries in Soho. Located conveniently up the famed MidLevels escalator, hop off at Staunton Street and you will find the Nepal Restaurant and Bar. Opened in 1995, it is one of only a few truly authentic Nepalese cuisines found in Hong Kong. With its inviting open front, the inviting aromas often entice passers-by into the restaurant.

International Flavour Fore Girls met the Group Senior Manager Bhim Prasad Kafle to gain an insight behind the restaurant. Mr Kafle, a native of Nepal, has been in the food and beverage industry for over 18 years. He moved to Hong Kong in 1994, and in 1999, together with a few business partners invested in this restaurant and while many restaurants have come and gone over the years, the Nepal Restaurant and Bar continues today serving Nepalese food at its very best. Such is the reputation and quality of this establishment that it attracts customers from around the world who come to Hong Kong making this one of their stops. Much of their business comes from guests at the nearby 5-star hotels such as the Four Seasons, The Mandarin Oriental and Shangri-La. Many airline staff who visit during their stop over before the next flight from Hong Kong and even the former CEO of Hong Kong, Donald Tsang and actor Jeremy Irons have visited the restaurant.
Changing Times Over the years, it has established a very local customer base who frequent the restaurant regularly. Hong Kong people used to make up around 5% of its customer base. Today, it is closer to 45% showing that there is definitely a taste for Nepalese cuisine. It is the décor, pleasant staff, family style environment and consistency in quality over time that Mr Kafle considers the unique selling point of the restaurant. It could be this very fact that has allowed the restaurant to flourish despite the ever increasing rents. Along with the issue with rent, maintaining and hiring staff has been a challenge. The restaurant is built on a reputation of authenticity so they are always looking to recruit the very best from Nepal where chefs fully understand the intricacies of Nepalese food. Luckily for the restaurant, they provide a great working environment where staff feel more like family than employees.

The Food! A selection of their most popular dishes include Momocha (steamed meat dumplings), Bhenta Tareko (lightly sautéed aubergine), Luiche Rana Pariwar (barbequed chicken breast), Khasi Kathmandu (tender lamb in a spicy creamy rich sauce) and Pulao (saffron flavoured rice). The dishes were varied catering for all tastes and looking at the menu, there is something for everyone. As Bhim explained, 100% Nepalese made using the very best in imported and local produce. Having had the pleasure of tasting the food, there is no doubt that there will be a return visit.
Three Bests for the Nepal in Hong Kong There are plans to expand into other areas of Hong Kong such as the Wan Chai district but as with the current restaurant, the priority is location. They are certainly reviewing options at this very moment. Its continued success has been down to a positive outlook, listening to customers and adapting over time providing the customers with the best quality, best service and best authenticity in Nepalese cuisine.

The Clearwater Bay Golf Club recently hosted The Clearwater Bay Executive Nine Junior Open 2014 tournament, one of many to feature on the EFG Bank HKGA Junior Tour. Sanctioned by the Hong Kong Golf Association, this tournament was an opportunity to promote junior golf providing official tournaments to help in the development of junior golfers in Hong Kong. Junior golfers competed in the 9-hole event in four age categories separated between boys and girls. 清水灣高爾夫球鄉村俱樂部舉辦的 2014 行政九洞青少年公開賽是瑞士盈豐銀行及香港高爾夫球總會的青少年巡賽賽事之一，賽 事旨在為香港年青一輩的球員提供機會參與正式且受認可的賽事。是次賽事分男女子組，各有四個年齡組別。

HKGA - EFG Bank Junior Annual Dinner Junior Order of Merit Prize Presentation 香港高爾夫球總會及瑞士盈豐銀行青少年週年晚會及計分賽頒獎典禮 he HKGA-EFG Bank Junior Annual Dinner was held on 17th March 2014 to celebrate junior golf in Hong Kong and present prizes for the Junior Order of Merit 2013 winners. Fore Girls was invited along with representatives of golf clubs, driving ranges and sponsors. Honorary guests included David Hui, Honorary Chairman of the HKGA; William Chung, President of the HKGA; Ning Li, Vice President of the HKGA; Robert Chiu, Non Executive Chairman, Asia Pacific Region, EFG Bank Asia; and Albert Chiu, Chief Executive, Asia Pacific Region, EFG Bank Asia. William Chung opened proceedings followed by Albert Chiu, who also delightedly announced that the stories of some junior golfers will soon be shared in more media channels and that once again a scholarship will be granted to one of the talented young golfers through the EFG Bank Young Golfers Foundation. They then brought the prize winners for the Junior Order of Merit 2013 onto the stage. The winners were: 15-17 years: Leon Philip D’Souza (boys) and Emily Vickie Leung (girls); 13-14 years: Max Ting and Michelle Lee; 11-12 years: Nathan Han and Selina Li; 9-10 years: Maurice Leung and joint girl winners Chloe Chan and Stephanie Wong; 6-8 years: Julius Yang and Charlene Chung. After the official business was concluded, guests were treated to a buffet dinner to conclude the evening. 12th United Hearts Charity Golf Tournament 2014 第十二屆「飛雁揮桿顯愛心」2014 慈善高爾夫比賽 7th March, 2014
The United Hearts Charity mission is to serve the children of Hong Kong and rural China by providing more learning opportunities and better learning environments. The 12th United Hearts Charity Golf Tournament was organised by the United Hearts Youth Foundation, GD Golfers’ Club and Palm Island and held at Palm Island in the Huiyang District of Guangdong China. 130 players took part and raised funds of HK$570,000 to show their utmost support towards the commendable work of United Hearts. After a full day on the golf course, Wong Yuk Hong, Committee Chairman began the night’s event by thanking sponsors, committee members, players and volunteers. Local celebrity Patrick Dunn also hosted the auction by presenting auction items supplied by over 40 sponsors worth a total of HK$200,000. Popular items included the Callaway Legacy Golf V club set and the Srixon XX10 Limited Golf Edition driver, which attracted high bids. A charity golf event that can reach out to such a wide audience for impoverished children is certainly the reason why this tournament has attracted such immense support year after year. 自二零零零年成立的雁心會，旨在服務香港及中國落後山區的兒童，讓他們得到更多的學習機會，亦為他們建設更完善的學習 環境。「飛雁揮桿顯愛心」由雁心會樂幼基金主辦，GD 球友會及棕櫚島協辦。賽事於廣東惠陽區棕櫚島球會舉行，近 130 名愛心 球手為活動籌得接近 57 萬元，以善心及愛心支持雁心會極具意義的工作。 活動籌委會主席黃毓康在活動晚宴上多謝各贊助商、活動籌委會成員、協辦機構、各位球手及義工對雁心會的支持。活動上另 一焦點就是由著名藝人及金牌司儀鄧梓峰先生主持的拍賣環節。拍賣物品由 40 多個贊助商捐出總值超過 20 萬元的禮品作慈善抽 獎，當中包括 LEGACY GOLD V 套桿及 XX10 Limited Gold Edition 發球桿，自然引起激烈競投。 一趟極具意義的慈善高球旅程，的確可以令高球愛好者年復一年的支持遙遠山區的扶貧工作，幫助孩子走向更美好的明天。

Craigengower Cricket Club Celebrates 120 years with Golf 3C 木球會揮桿慶祝 120 週年紀念 With 120 years of history, Craigengower Cricket Club celebrated this momentous occasion with an Anniversary Golf Tournament held at the Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course on 14th February 2014. A great day of golf was had by all where the weather was sunny and warm. The overall champion was Stephen Chan with further winners in the Men’s Divisions. The Ladies Division was won by Terry Chan with Maggie Ho and Priscilla Yip in 1st and 2nd runner-up positions respectively. The weather remained pleasant into the evening allowing attendees to dine on the terrace of the Western Restaurant, where they could still participate in the prize giving ceremony as well as to enjoy the food and live music performances. 具有 120 年歷史的 3C 木球會於 2014 年 2 月 14 日在滘西洲公共高爾夫球場舉行 週年高爾夫球大賽，藉以慶祝如此重要的日子。當天天氣和暖且帶點陽光，大家盡情玩 樂。Stephen Chan 成為男子組總冠軍，女子組首三名分別為 Terry Chan、Maggie Ho 和 Priscilla Yip。晚上雖有涼風，但參賽者可於餐廳內或露天地方享受食物、觀看頒 獎典禮及欣賞音樂表演。

The Honorary President, Committee Members, media and local celebrities including actor Simon Yam and Natalis Chan were invited to a seafood restaurant in the Yuen Long district. Chairman Daniel Liu started proceedings with an opening speech and introduced the HKPGA’s new Chief Executive Officer Elina Lee who will be responsible for operations and public relations. A lucky draw took place with winners each receiving a cash prize. Hong Kong Golf Club Provides a Silver Lining 粉嶺香港哥爾夫球會雪中送炭
With the recent closure of golfing facilities in Hong Kong, golfers were up in arms at what they saw as a restriction to their freedom to play golf. However, every cloud has a silver lining. Hong Kong Golf Club in Fan Ling has announced that it has opened its newly floodlit driving range to the public. The public will have access to the 32-bay night range during weekdays from 7pm to 10pm, excluding public holidays at a very reasonable price of HK$80 per 30-minute interval. With the added benefit of free parking for driving range users, Hong Kong Golf Club has provided much needed accessibility to golfing enthusiasts who have been having a somewhat challenging time of late. Simon Wong and Chan Ching-Yee are a step closer to a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the MercedesTrophy World Final in Germany after winning the men’s and ladies’ divisions in the inaugural HKGA MercedesBenz Classic at Discovery Bay Golf Club. 14-handicapper Wong carded 44 points to claim the men’s Nett Stableford prize and qualify for the prestigious MercedesTrophy Hong Kong. Chan Ching-Yee scored 42 points to win the Nett division in the ladies’ event and will return to Discovery Bay with Wong for the MercedesTrophy Hong Kong on 23rd May. Teenagers Chris Mun (13) and Estee Leung (14) won the men’s and ladies’ Gross Stableford prizes, both with 34 points. However, the Hong Kong Golf Association junior squad members will have to wait until they turn 18 before they are eligible to qualify for the MercedesTrophy. A total of eight winners and runners-up from the inaugural HKGA Mercedes-Benz Classic, a two-day men’s and ladies’ tournament, qualified for the MercedesTrophy Hong Kong. Anna Nordqvist battled a star-studded leaderboard and shot a 4-under 68 on the final day to claim her third career LPGA Tour title at the Honda LPGA Thailand. The 26-year old from Sweden finished the week at 15-under par and two shots ahead of Rolex Rankings No. 1 Inbee Park. “I've been working so hard all winter,” said Nordqvist. “These last couple years I have had a lot of great people by my side that never left my side and kept supporting me through the good times and the bad times. I will always be thankful for them. Paula Creamer sank what may have been the putt of her career on the final day to clinch her 10th career LPGA victory at the HSBC Women’s Champions. Creamer drained a 75-foot eagle putt on the second sudden-death playoff hole to defeat Spain’s Azahara Munoz. The victory snaps a 79 event winless streak for Creamer that dated back to the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open Championship. “It might be one of my favorite wins, and that's going, taking a pretty big leap right there,” said Creamer. “It has been almost three years and so much has happened… It has been coming and it just shows you perseverance. That's why I love the game. I work hard for this reason. Ye Liying gettin g ready for the Zhuhai Classic Yu Pei Lin
China LPGA Tour 2014 International Players’ Q-School 2014 女子中巡境外球員資格賽 12th-14th March, 2014
At the recent China LPGA Tour 2014 International Players’ Q-School, representatives from around the world competed to gain entry to the 2014 CLPGA Tour. After 3 rounds of golf the tournament was won by Yu Pei Lin of Taiwan with a total score of 219. Pei Lin turned professional in 2006 competing on the CLPGA Tour in 2009. She subsequently qualified for the Japan Tour in 2013 but returned this year wanting to compete in the CLPGA once again. The top 20 players of the tournament qualified for entry to the CLPGA Tour including 10 Koreans, 4 Thais, 2 Taiwanese, 2 Malaysians, 1 Australian and 1 Kiwi. This is the first time that the CLPGA had qualifiers from Malaysia and New Zealand. All 20 players will have a chance to compete at the RMB¥500,000 Zhuhai Classic. 最近舉行的女子中巡 2014 境外球員資格賽由國際球員參與，競逐 2014 女子中巡的參賽資格。三輪 比賽後台灣選手余珮琳以總數 219 桿勝出，珮琳於 2006 年轉為職業球員，2009 年曾參與女子中巡賽事， 並在 2013 年考取女子日巡資格，今年卻決定再次轉戰女子中巡。 首 20 名進身女子中巡的包括 10 名韓國球員、4 名泰國球員、台灣及馬來西亞球員各 2 名，和澳洲及 紐西蘭球員各 1 名；其中更首次有馬來西亞及紐西蘭球員獲參賽資格。她們將有機會參加獎金總值人民幣 50 萬的珠海精英賽。
