Welcome to the Christmas edition of Fore Girls Magazine. As 2014 draws to a close, it has certainly been an eventful year in the world of ladies golf. From talents such as Lydia Ko, Shi Yuting and Minjee Lee turning pro, the R&A’s change of rules to Christina Kim’s first win after battling against depression, more and more events on the tour calendars to new rising starlets, all of which has proved that ladies golf is ever evolving, expanding and advancing. We hope you have continued to enjoy reading our magazine and we look forward to bringing you more interesting and exciting news and features in 2015. At least we know for now that both the Queen Sirikit Cup and arguably the world’s most televised Asia Pacific Amateur Championship will be taking place in Hong Kong next year; I am very excited to see the most talented and passionate amateur golfers from around the world gathered in Hong Kong! Christmas is a time to celebrate traditions and one such tradition is LAST MINUTE SHOPPING so if you are yet to buy that special gift for that special someone, why not let us provide you with a few suggestions with a host of gift ideas both for him and her. With the recent win on the Ladies European Tour, Valentine Derrey of Paris, France has finally made her mark on the LET and indeed in the world of ladies golf. As one of several French players, Valentine is proudly flying the tri-colours of France for ladies golf. Despite her busy schedule, she found time to speak with Fore Girls Magazine to discuss her recent win and share her thoughts on this beautiful game.

If large electrical towers or utility poles are posted around the golf course, and electrical wires are strung across the fairways, what happens if the ball hits the wires and lands out of bounds? Can the player replay without a penalty? 如果球因觸及球場內的發電塔或電線，而導致打出界外，球員可以重打而不受罰嗎？ Usually, courses with utility poles will have specific local rules addressing the issue. If the ball hits a power line or an overhead cable, and the local rule is in effect, then the player must cancel the stroke and replay it without penalty. If such a local rule is not in effect, they then must play the ball where it lies. 大多數具大量此類型障礙物的球場均設有適用於以上情況的特別規則。如果球打中電源線或架空電纜而地方球例亦有明確指示，大多數機會下球員可以重打而不被罰。但如果當地規則沒有此例，球員便必須在球落之處續打。

Who is the Ryder Cup named after? 萊德盃以誰命名？ The Ryder Cup was named after Samuel Ryder, a wealthy British businessman and avid golfer who was born in 1858. The Ryder Cup was established from another of his ideas, the Walker Cup which pitted teams of British and American amateur golfers and began in 1922. He commissioned a trophy in 1926 to serve as the prize for the winner. The top figure of the trophy is modelled on Samuel Ryder's friend and golf instructor Abe Mitchell. What if a player’s ball lands in the Ground Under Repair (GUR) zone? 如果打出的球落在球場的修理區 (GUR)，那該如何處理？ Free relief is given if the ball comes to rest in the area or touching it. As long as the area is marked as ground under repair by the course, a player is free to take relief without penalty. 如果球落在該地區或剛好落於該範圍的邊緣位置，只要該區域被標記為修理，球員可以自行取球，並在旁邊不超於一支桿位的位置續打而不受罰。

Can a player play if their ball is moving? 球員可以在球仍在移動時打下一桿嗎？ No, a player must not make a stroke if their ball is moving. If the ball moved during mid swing and the player was unable to stop their swing, there will be no penalty but since a stroke has been completed, it counts. 不可以。可是如果在揮桿過程中途，球移動了而球員無法終止揮桿，那不會有處罰，但此桿仍會被計算為一桿。

What happens if after striking the ball in the tee box, a player loses their grip on the club and it flies out of their hand? Ingrid 早在大學攻讀法律時已活躍於舞台劇和芭蕾舞，隨後她愛上了佛朗明哥，雖與家人移居紐約，仍繼續練習。後來因丈夫的工作關係，Ingrid 輾轉來到她的新家香港。她曾於香港演藝學院教學，其後成立佛朗明哥表演樂團 Sol Y Flamenco，將佛朗明哥帶給香港觀眾。她於本地電視台及劇院的演出令這種西班牙藝術得以在這繽紛都市中展現其獨特的美態。

Blue Bay LPGA 藍灣大師賽 This year just saw the inaugural Blue Bay Masters at the Jian Lake Blue Bay Golf Club in Ling Shui where after four days of heavy rain and delays, South-African Lee-Anne Pace took her first LPGA Tour win with a 16-under par score finishing her final five holes on Monday morning instead of the traditional Sunday finish. Caroline Masson who has been playing incredibly well of late hit four birdies on her final six holes but could not overtake Pace, finishing three shots behind with 13-under. Michelle Wie and Jessica Korda were tied for third at 11-under par. HKIGA Charity Golf 2014 香港障健高爾夫球協會慈善賽 24th October, 2014

The Hong Kong Impaired Golfers Association (HKIGA) held a golf event at the Yinli Foreign Investors Golf Club in China raising HK$130,400 for the organisation. The highlight of the day was seeing some touching moments shared between the golfers and their parents after student representative Lee Chi On faced off against founding president Gordon Liu at Hole 15 followed by a fun and entertaining auction dinner. Liu also expressed his thanks to the industry for their support and acknowledgement towards HKIGA and that they will continue to move forward and provide more people with disabilities the chance to join their training programme. 香港障健高爾夫球協會於東莞銀利外商高爾夫球俱樂部舉行慈善賽，並為協會籌得港幣 130,400 款項。當天看見創會會長廖鍇夢先生和障健代表李志安在球埸 15 號洞較量，整個賽事完畢後有家長及學生分享在參加協會的訓練計劃的感想，晚宴以抽獎競投活動結束。廖特別感謝同業支持及認同協會的工作，又指協會將繼續向前推進，讓更多障健人士能有機會參與訓練計劃。

Supported by a number of sponsors, the event provides another chance for Hong Kong’s amateur players to hone their skills before the season closes. Emily Vicky Leung, who shot 75 became the gross winner of the Ladies Division. Stephanie Che (72 on count back), Pia Fung (72) and Diana Ting (73 on count back) are the Nett winner, first and second runner-ups respectively. In the Men’s Divison, Robert Choy also with 75 claimed the gross winner title; while nett winner Leo Tong won with a one-under 71 on count back. Kenya Airways Golf Safari 2014 – Hong Kong 肯亞航空野生高爾夫球巡迴賽－香港站 18th November, 2014

With the view to position Kenya as a top golfing destination, Kenya Airways launched KQ Golf Safari in 2011 and since then, their tournaments have become a regular fixture on the continental calendar. Not only that, KQ Golf Safari 2014/15 will feature 16 local Kenyan events and 13 international events to Asian and African destinations including Guangzhou, Thailand, and Zimbabwe, all of which will take place between November 2014 and March 2015. Their Hong Kong invitational, where there are three weekly flights flying to Kenya’s Capital Nairobi, was held at the Shek O Golf and Country Club in collaboration with Golf007.
