Fore Girls celebrated its 1st anniversary last month with an eventful golf day at the Kai Sai Chau Public Golf Course supported by sponsors and local golf professionals and enthusiasts (see page 58). Fore Girls has always been about profiling women of today and this month is no exception, with a host of prominent women in golf and lifestyle offering their valued views and opinions. Additionally, the last major ladies open tournament (The Evian Championship) took place in France where it was won by first timer Hyo Joo Kim of Korea. This month, the Fore Girls team will be on the road in Bejing and Hainan for the Reignwood LPGA Classic and Mission Hills’ World Celebrity Pro-Am. Read all about these two major events in next month’s issue. It was a dusky summer's evening when we sat with Tiffany Chan on a balcony facing an impeccable golf course in Hong Kong not long after her triumphant win at the World University Championship in Switzerland. From Hong Kong to the United States, this 21-year-old has been impressing spectators from across the world not only because of her marvellous performances on the course but also her sweet, affable smile.

球場上的曙光陳芷澄灸熱夏天裏的一個黃昏，我們和陳芷澄 (Tiffany) 坐在面對着一片美麗球場的露台聊天，當時她剛在瑞士的世界大學生錦標賽勝出了漂亮的一仗。從香港到美國，這位年僅 21 歲的女孩一次又一次的令場外觀眾嘩然，叫人驚訝的不單是她在球場上的英姿，也是因為她擁有一份單純且甜美迷人的笑容。

Tiffany 在香港長大，曾就讀女拔萃書院，現獲全獎學金為佛羅里達州 Dayton State College 的二年級生。每年打不下於 20 場比賽的她剛也第四次參加世界業餘高爾夫錦標賽及亞運會。「要在各個比賽中調整自己，我會按着比賽的難度及規模來訂立可達到的目標。我以前總會在賽事中感到壓力，譬如在首兩天打得很好，卻在最後一天超出標準桿。現在我學會了只專注於眼前所要面對的，而非最後的輸贏。」在這大片青草地上的這些年來，她長大了。「以前的高高低低讓我教我學會了將過去的失敗都放開，開心面對每一刻。」 Tiffany 的樂觀的性格在香港代表隊鮮紅隊衣的映襯下份外更令人眼前一亮。比起天份，她更相信努力，而對於一眾十分仰慕她的年青球員，她卻說：「我 16 歲時的決心沒高寶璟般大，但我仍會以她為學習目標，希望可學到她的一點點。可是我們不應該要想着成為某人而努力，應該做回自己，也不要給自己太大壓力。」而她最喜愛的男女高爾夫球員則是場內氣勢十足、場外展現笑容的蘇珊．彼德森和「英俊的世界第一」亞當．斯科特。

How does count back work? 如何以倒算法計算賽果？ Usually if two or more players are tied for the top position in a tournament then under the Stableford system, you total the back 9 holes to determine who has the lowest number of strokes, they become the winner. If there is still a tie then you count the back 6 holes and then back 3 holes and finally the last hole. 一般來說，當兩位或以上的球員在史特伯福特賽制下並列第一時，裁判會以後九洞最低桿數的成績計算，最低桿數者勝。若球員們後九洞的成績尚相同，便會以後六洞、後三洞，甚或最後一洞的桿數來得出冠軍得主。

What is the Order of Merit? 球員排名榜是甚麼？ Quite simply, it is the total money earned on a tour, a ranking based on earnings. 這是以球員在該季巡迴賽中所得的獎金而排行的名單，換言之是按收入而定的排名。

Is there a time limit for playing a stroke? 打每一桿時有否時間限制？ There is no official rule but as part of golf etiquette you should not hold up play therefore during tournaments you may see Tournament Officials warn players about slow play. 高爾夫賽規不會設置擊球時限，但從禮儀的角度來看，球員不應妨礙後來參賽者打球，故你或會看見賽事裁判對打得較慢的球員作出提醒或警告。

Is it legal to hit a ball with the back of the golf club? 球員可以球桿的背面擊球嗎？ According to the USGA rule ‘14-1 Ball To Be Fairly Struck At’ it states that ‘the ball must be fairly struck at with the head of the club and must not be pushed, scraped or spooned.’ There is no mention of which side, only that it must be hit with the head of the club. Therefore, we can interpret this rule in that a golfer is perfectly fine to use the back of the golf club. 根據美國高爾夫球協會的《高爾夫球規則》第 14 條 1 項說明球員需要以桿頭確實擊球，而非推撞、刮起或挖起，但沒有詳細列明需要以桿頭的哪一面，故也可以說球員可以用桿背擊球，可是效果會怎樣便不得而知了。

話說當時辛迪正獲獎學金於亞利桑拿州立大學就讀，也加入了大學的籃球及壘球代表隊。畢業後發現兩種運動所給予的發展機會不多，她便決定找來一項既能挑戰自我，又可「玩足一世」的運動。明顯地，她所選擇的是高爾夫球。而以今天的標準來說，她姍姍來遲的，在 24 歲才第一次拿起高爾夫球桿。辛迪後來轉為職業球員，在女子日巡及美國未來之星巡迴賽七年時間，更在未來巡迴賽三次奪冠，又 12 次獲邀參加女子美巡賽事。可是後來發現比賽也不是她的「那杯茶」，她便退役專注教球。辛迪

前職業高爾夫球員、現任職業高球教練、作家、企業家，這些只是辛迪瑞所戴起的其中數頂帽子，她所為中國高爾夫的未來所建立的，是一個確切而踏實的品牌。然而一切起源，就得由太平洋彼岸的美國亞利桑拿州中，

認為幫助他人更適合自己性格，將知識傳遞開去的滿足感也更大，於是她立定了心志，在職業高爾夫球巡迴賽上當了 17 年教練，更成為巡迴賽的教練總監。

瑞家辛迪第一次執起球桿開始說起。

友誼、機會、創立品牌在職業高爾夫球巡迴賽總部的日子裏，她遇到一位好友，令她的眼界開闊到中國。他的名字是朱鼎耀，也就是觀瀾湖集團創辦人、中國高爾夫之父朱樹豪博士的次子，當時正在學習高爾夫相關業務。 2005 年，朱鼎耀邀請她以辛迪瑞品牌於觀瀾湖成立高爾夫球學院，這當然是她向夢想踏出的一大步，面對種種挑戰之餘，同時建立了她在中國築起辛迪瑞品牌的希望，這後日子下來，辛迪瑞高爾夫這個品牌已經進駐上海，將她的高球哲學一直宣揚開去。

作育菁莪入行 24 年，辛迪曾與世界知名球員共事，角色也漸漸轉移到發展業務方面。當然，她最享受的，還是當初以此起家的教練一職。她又說當教練對她來說代表了溝通、動力、力量、存在價值和高爾夫知識，所以現在學院所聘請的教練全都滿腔熱誠，而且上進和堅信自己，同時也了解學員，這些素質對辛迪來說全都缺一不可。除了喜愛教學以外，被問到為何高爾夫球的吸引之處，辛迪言簡意賅的說：「這不單是熱門運動，更是叫人上癮的玩意。」這豈不是所有高球員的心底話嗎？沒有任何運動能如高爾夫球般，在體能上、意志上和情緒上時刻挑戰着你，叫你的生命也因而改變。當然，除了在球場上教授以外，辛迪不時也會在美國及中國等地的高爾夫頻道、CBS 體育台、USA 電視台當顧問，又會走訪世界各地的球場，以她動人的一字一句吸引着各地的球員。她也曾出版著作，以多種媒體來達致精益求精的教育。

未來路向今天，辛迪對高爾夫球的熱忱相比起她多年前首次拿起球桿時有增無減，又透過多元化的教育渠道繼續建立品牌，有望在中國其他地區及亞洲擴展屬於辛迪瑞的版圖。一直在這道高爾夫高速路上馳騁的辛迪，一刻也沒有想過要停止下來。

Inara Sharma first started playing golf at the tender age of four when visiting a shopping mall with her family and saw a poster advertising the game of golf. Now aged 12, Inara has been playing golf for quite some time and continues to practise regularly at her own club four to five times a week. For Inara, she enjoys the game very much as she gets to spend time with her family and friends who also share an interest in golf. Inara also finds it to be a very peaceful game that helps her to relax.

Being a junior golfer is never easy in Hong Kong since many golf courses will not allow junior golfers to ride on golf carts (not just banned from driving, but also from riding on them), so many of them end up using the golf trolleys to go up and down the hills or simply carry their golf bags on their back. Well, you can see it as a type of training as the Chinese say, “It is precious to be poor when you are young.” In fact, the ‘privileged ordeal’ of carrying one’s own golf bag is actually enjoyed by many. 在香港當青少年球員其實是一件頗具挑戰性的事情。原因是很多球會都不讓青少年球員坐球車（不只是不准開，是連坐也不可），他們要不用手拉車，否則只可以自己背包。當然，這也是磨練的一種，所謂「千金難買少年窮」，背球包這種「奢侈」的辛苦，其實還是很多人笑着的去受。 So, what should a junior golfer pack in their golf bag? 那麼青少年球員的球包裏應該有些甚麼呢？

To add another dimension of pleasure for our readers, FORE GIRLS organised a golf trip to Hainan Island in August, with over 20 members joining us for a three-day experience at The Dunes and Sheraton Shenzhou Peninsula Hotel. If you will consider visiting the stunning golf course, we, in particular, recommend the East Course and the South Course, where some of their signature holes lie alongside to the magnificent South China Sea coastline giving an inimitable view of the azure seas and robust waves. There you may also see Hainan hoopoes! The occasional but timely showers cooled down the greens under the summer heat and after a few rounds of golf, many golfers were able to enjoy the five-star spa and pool facilities offered by the hotel. Postponed as a result of Typhoon Rammasun in July, this trip was still commended by our members and of course, we will continue to organise further trips in the future. Although men outnumbered the ladies on this occasion, golf itself, is a sport that sets no boundaries for age or gender so why not come along with your family next time! The Ladies Team of the HKPGA (HKLPGA) organised another Pro-Am tournament at the Yinli Foreign Investors Golf Club in China to raise funds for professional ladies golf development in Hong Kong. A previous Pro-Am tournament was held at the Discovery Bay Golf Club in January early this year. 10 Lady Pros and 30 guests enjoyed a round using the Scramble format played on the day with occasional thunders and of course laughter which could be heard from afar. The exciting day ended with five teams fighting for the second runner-up prize, which finally went to Sandy Yim’s team who shot 4-under. May Tang’s team who finished with 5-under became the runner-up and team Christine Chuck deservingly won the trophy after achieving a 10-under with eight birdies and an eagle. I put champagne on Inbee maybe more than five times, but finally she gave it to me. Both leave the game with multiple LPGA wins to their credit and nearly US$7 million in career earnings. “I was crying, like, you know the past few weeks, and I thought I’m okay this week. And I was promising I’m never going to cry today,” Jang said. “But you know, I was walking the fairway and then the guy was announcing details about my career.
