Born in Southampton, England, Danielle Montgomery has been playing professional golf since 2007. She moved to Australia with her family when she was 11 years old and now resides in Fremantle, Perth where she competes

A regular on the LET, Danielle continues to improve each year with a highlight being her career low of 66 which she achieved in the third round of the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open in 2012. During her amateur days, she won back to back titles at the Royal Fremantle Ladies Foursome Championship with her sister Nicole in 2004 and 2005 and was a member of the West Australian State Team winning the Gladys Hay Memorial Cup in 2005.

How much relief do I get if my ball stops on the cart path? 如果我的球停在車道上該如何處理？ Under the rule of golf 24-2b, a golfer is entitled to free relief from a cart path if the ball comes to rest upon the path, or when the golfer's swing or stance is inhibited by the path. A golfer's stance is deemed to be inhibited if any part of their foot comes in contact with the path. There is no penalty and you can also play as it lies and hit off the cart path. 按照高爾夫規則第 24 條 2b 項，如果球停在路上或影響高爾夫球手揮桿，球員可以在球落點而不接近旗桿的地方，拋球續打而不受懲罰，球員亦可以選擇在原地續打。

If you follow the news of the HKGA closely or have participated in their tournaments, you may know them well. The chances are, they will know you too. These are the women of the Hong Kong Golf Association. Apart from CEO Tom Phillips, National Coach Brad Schadewitz and Golf Professional Ducky Tang, the rest of the team consists of women who have taken up their very special roles in facilitating all HKGA sanctioned tournaments, players and teams.

Dolla Chui entered the field in 1988 and with over 11 years of experience at the HKGA, she is now the Deputy General Manager. Her duties apart from daily administration and preparation for tournaments include site inspections and liaising with tournament officials. Both the challenges faced in the office and out on the golf course are what appeals to Dolla, adding to that is their newly appointed CEO Tom who never ceases to introduce new ideas making this most certainly the job for her. Most memorable tournament? Weather plays a vital part in the many tournaments organised by the HKGA each year. Dolla recalled a three-day international event a few years ago when the team had spent so much time and effort preparing for and inviting players from other countries to participate. The night before, Typhoon Signal No. 8 was hoisted and Dolla had never been so worried. Fortunately, the skies opened up the next day and the game was held as planned. What a relief! Dolla Chui 是副總經理，1988 年加入高爾夫行列，在總會工作逾 11 年，除了處理日常的內部工作，在賽前亦需要做視察場地、裁判聯絡等的準備性工作。對 Dolla 而言，她既喜歡辦公室的挑戰，也享受球場戶外工作；加上新上任的行政總裁湯臘常常有新構思，創意不斷，故這是一份很特別的工作。最深刻的經歷？總會每年舉辦大大小小的賽事，天氣是一大要素。猶記得數年前預備一項為期三天的國際賽事，大家籌備已久，而且各地球員均由不同國家乘機到香港，豈料賽前一晚掛上八號颱風信號，令她擔心不已。幸好，賽事當天天色漸轉明朗，颱風信號除下，賽事方可繼續，令她舒一口氣。

Sera Yiu is the Handicapping Manager who specialises in maintaining the handicapping scores of players. Essentially, she records the golfing abilities of players in the form of measurable data. Without any prior knowledge of golf, she joined the HKGA so she could understand how interesting the sport was. Since then, she has been with the HKGA for 17 years, being the longest serving staff member so far. Even though Sera spends her days building indices, updating records and organising data, she never considers her tasks as dull or monotonous since she has the opportunity to contribute ideas on how to improve the current system as well as increasing membership. Biggest change at the HKGA? Of course that would be the number of memberships. When Sera first joined the HKGA, there were just over 1,000 members. Now, apart from club members, private members have reached over 9,000. How complicated it must be to organise all these handicap scorecards! With a sport events management background, Sandra Mak is the Junior/ International Manager of the HKGA. She may be physically office-based, getting coaches and junior players ready for tournaments abroad, but her heart often travels with the youngsters, beating ever so excitedly as she watches the live tournaments they compete in or watching the ever changing scoreboards. Additionally, another mission for Sandra is to educate the youth. Many parents often contact the HKGA on behalf of their children, but Sandra would much prefer their 100 junior members to be given the opportunity to be more independent, be able to speak for themselves, and develop a greater trust between their teammates and staff members. How would you describe golf? Golf is challenging. There are external factors affecting the future of Hong Kong golf but the HKGA’s aim is to continue to stay positive and think of ways to further promote golf. Vivian Choo is their Handicap Scoring Assistant who has only been with the team for three years. Her tasks include maintaining player information and organising tournaments. For her golf is a unique sport as the professional knowledge and skills learned within cannot be obtained from outside the field. Why choose to work at the HKGA? Vivian used to work at a bank and that was a stressful job. Now with the HKGA, regardless of the workload, she has found continued pleasure in her work and enjoys it a lot more. As part of the eventful Samsung 57th Festival of Sport and co-organised by the Hong Kong Golf Association, the Hong Kong School Golf (Driving Range) Competition took place at Garden Farm Golf Centre in Sai Kung recently. More than 80 school children aged between 6 to 17 competed on the day in what proved to be enjoyable for all in attendance. Top players were awarded medals and other participants were given a certificate from the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC). I’ve played some really good golf here, and it’s just mind boggling really to think I have ten wins out here. Held at the par-72 Course A of the Golden Mountain Golf Club who just introduced a new team of yellow-suited 1.8m tall male caddies as opposed to the more common female caddies, this RMB¥500,000 tournament has given 21-year-old Chinese Taipei native Babe Liu, her second title of the CLPGA Tour season. Amateur and two-time silver medal winner of the Asian Games Yan Jing lost at the fifth hole of the playoff. Liu, winner of the season-opening Macau Challenge, showed her experience in sudden death when she shot a par as the amateur Yan three-putted for a five bogey. Defending champion Lin Tzu-Chi finished with 69-68-77, faced once again with her enemy par-5 Hole 9 where she struggled with the bunkers. She was leading the game in the first round with national team player Wang Xin, Thai Tiranan Yoopan and Beijing Challenge defending champion Wichanee Meechai, where Babe Liu and Malaysian Michelle Koh were both one stroke behind. Qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open, Jang So-young shot a 67 on the first day, which was also her lowest round in the CLPGA Tour. “This is not at all a difficult course to play at when wind is not a factor, and it will be easy to finish with an under par,” said 22-year-old Jang after the first round. Yan, who was getting used to her new iron and putter, shot 67-72-72 throughout the three rounds, compared to Liu’s 70-71-70. Jang and Wang, who was aiming to win a championship title before her 20th birthday, both finished with 213, while Meechai and Lin finished with 214. Not long after U.S. Women’s Open qualifier Jang So-young achieved her wish in capturing her first professional and CLPGA Tour championship did she realise her dreams under the scorching sun at Beijing Orient Pearl Golf Club. One week after the Golden Mountain Challenge, the Korean led throughout the three rounds at the Beijing Challenge, winning with a 14 under 202 (64-69-69), five ahead of her closest competitor Pan Yanhong. “It’s incredible and I’m thrilled. I have matured a lot since joining the CLPGA Tour two years ago, and my mind game has progressed a lot, which is the main reason contributing to my success this year,” said Jang. Pan Yanhong came second with a 9 under 207 (71-67-69), one ahead of second runner up, Thailand’s Pavarisa Yoktuan. Yokyuan came very close to Pan where she missed an easy putt at Hole 5 with a score of 208 (68-71-69). Li Jiayuan, national team player came fourth with one more stroke. 16-year-old Shi Yuting shot 71 in her last round, earning another Best Amateur Award for the game and came tied fifth with Yan Panpan, both totalling 211. Pan Yanhong closed the tournament with a bogey-free 68 at the Jinyuan Golf Club in Jiangsu Province, winning the third SRIXON XXIO Ladies Open over 20-year-old Thai player Pavarisa Yoktuan. This is Pan’s second win this season and her fourth-career victory. Her 15-under 204 broke the 54-hole SRIXON XXIO Ladies Open record. “I was only in optimal state after I made a par at Hole 11, which was when I headed for the title,” said Pan, “I have never imagined breaking a 10-under for 3 rounds and I made 15-under. Compared to my previous best record of 9-under, I have just crossed another hurdle.” Pavarisa Yoktuan (67-68-72) and Li Jiayun (67-69-71) came tied second with a gross score of 207, while Korean Chung Yena finished third with three behind (74-66-70). “I think I have given myself some pressure today as I was too serious and too confident. I noticed that my putting was not the best or as good as the past two days,” said Yoktuan after the last round.
