odos los miércoles a las 20:30 hrs encuéntrate con Francisco de Montejo en la “noche de las culturas” en la Casa de Montejo en la calle 63 x 60 y 62. La puesta en escena resalta las distintas raíces de la que se nutre la sociedad meridana actual con la plática entre Don Francisco de Montejo y un maya, quienes narran la historia de la ciudad de Mérida.

l Convento de Nuestra Señora de la Consolación comenzó a funcionar en junio de 1596 con al apoyo de 5 religiosas provenientes del Convento Concepcionista de la Ciudad de México. La iglesia es mejor conocida como “Las Monjas”, la segunda más antigua de Yucatán habitada hasta el siglo XIX. Durante el siglo XVIII, el convento tuvo su mayor esplendor con la construcción de las arcas religiosas, en su momento el convento abarcó desde la calle 64 hasta la 68. En 1645, el gobernador Esteban de Azcárraga mandó a construir sobre el templo el mirador, única en su tipo. Su arquitectura es de estilo gótico, en el área donde se hallaron los claustros en la actualidad es la Casa de la Cultura del Mayab. El interior de la iglesia es de carácter severo, el coro alto está sostenido por 2 hileras de columnas esbeltas. Es un atractivo de la ciudad de Mérida ubicada en la calle 63 x 64.

very Wednesday, at 8:30 PM, the public is welcome to come together with Francisco de Montejo for the weekly “Night of Cultures” at the Casa de Montejo on the Main Square, on 63rd Street between 60th and 62nd streets. The staging highlights the different origins from which the Mérida’s current society flourishes, with a theatrical conversation between Francisco de Montejo and a Maya elder, who, together, narrate the history of Mérida.

he Convent of Our Lady of Consolation began to function in June 1596 with the support of five religious followers who came from the Convent of the Conception in Mexico City. The church, better known as “Las Monjas,” is the second oldest in Yucatán which operated until the 19th century. In the eighteenth century, the convent had its greatest splendor with the construction of religious coffers. In that era, the Convent ran from 64th to 68th streets. In 1645, then Governor Esteban de Azcárraga ordered a temple to be constructed to offer a viewing platform, a feature unique in its kind. Its architecture is Gothic in style. Where the cloisters were located, we currently find the House of the Culture of the Mayab. The interior of the church is of austere character; the high choir is supported by two rows of slender columns. It is an attraction of the city of Mérida located at the intersection of 63rd and 64th streets.

Circo Teatro Yucateco | Yucatecan Circus Theater

l barrio de Santiago fue sede de varios eventos masivos, como espectáculos circenses, peleas de box, funciones de cine, etc. El lugar de estructura metálica tenía el nombre de Circo Teatro Yucateco. Se inauguró el 17 de junio de 1900 con la presencia del entonces Gobernador de Yucatán, el General Francisco Cantón Rosado, que por más de medio siglo fue el centro de entretenimiento de los yucatecos que cada noche asistían a los eventos cuya entrada principal se ubicaba en el cruce 6

de la calle 68 x 57. El magistral recinto de Santiago cerró definitivamente el 7 de julio de 1961, no quedó rastro alguno de ésta, sólo recuerdos de las personas que tuvieron la dicha de ir al Circo Teatro Yucateco.

En el recorrido se encuentran las casonas, construcciones que pertenecen a la historia de la ciudad, todas ubicadas sobre Paseo de Montejo, pero con diferentes cruzamientos de esquinas. aseo de Montejo Boulevard is named in honor of the conquistador of Yucatán, Francisco de Montejo. It is considered one of the most important thoroughfares of the city. Ubicadas en la calle 45, como bien lo dice su nombre son casas idénticas construidas a principios del siglo XX con características del estilo francés. Una de las casas albergó a distinguidos huéspedes, como al príncipe Rainiero III, a la actriz Grace Kelly y a Jacqueline Onassis, esposa de John F. Kennedy.

Situada en la calle 43, sus instalaciones albergan el Museo Regional de Antropología e Historia con interesantes objetos mayas. El palacio fue construido por el arquitecto Italiano Enrico Deserti, también constructor del Teatro Peón Contreras. El museo está abierto de martes a domingo de 8:00 a 17:00 hrs.

Located on Calle 43, this impressive structure today houses the Regional Museum of Anthropology and History, known as INAH, with a mesmerizing collection Maya artifacts. Italian architect Enrico Deserti designed the palace; he also constructed the Peón Contreras Opera House downtown. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 8 AM to 5 PM.

Quinta Montes Molina (1902) Se sitúa entre las calles 33 y 35. Su diseño es neoclásico, aunado a sus interiores que están bellamente decorados y amueblados al estilo de finales del siglo XIX. Tiene un museo y se puede visitar con cita previa porque la casa organiza diversos eventos privados. It is located between the 33 and 35 Streets. Its design is neoclassical, together with its interiors that are beautifully decorated and furnished in the style of the late nineteenth century. Casa Peón de Regil (1905) Se ubica entre la calle 35. Es de las construcciones con mayor importancia en la avenida. Fue edificada por orden de Pedro Regil Cámara, hacendado y empresario del henequén en aquellas épocas. Los especialistas concuerdan que es el segundo inmueble importante construida en Paseo de Montejo. Hoy en día es sede de las oficinas de un grupo financiero. Located at Calle 35, it is one of the most important buildings along the avenue. It was built by Pedro Regil Cámara, a wealthy landowner and businessman during the time when henequen, or sisal, brought riches to the city. 1. PASEO DE MONTEJO: Su construcción se inició en 1897 y concluyó a principios del Siglo XX. Chaltún Há En el pueblo mágico de Izamal está la zona arqueológica de Chaltún Há (piedra plana por donde se recoge agua), vestigio maya cuyo acceso es por la calle 38 entre 43 y 45. Chaltún Há es la cuarta estructura monolítica de las doce que hay en la “ciudad de las tres culturas”, hogar de 160 estructuras arqueológicas. La estructura tiene una gran plataforma de tres metros de alto con 3 construcciones, 2 menores ubicadas al lado este y oeste respectivamente y la estructura principal mide 6 metros de alto, situada en el lado sur. El horario de visita es de lunes a domingo de 8:00 a 17:00 hrs. Otros sitios arqueológicos que puedes visitar es Itzamatul, Kinich Kakmó, Habuk, Tu´ul (el conejo) además del Convento San Antonio de Padua y recorrer las calles pintorescas de Izamal.

The archaeological site of Chaltún Há, meaning, “where water is collected” in Maya, is located in the magical town of Izamal. The Maya site is accessible at 38th Street between 43rd and 45th streets. Chaltún Há is the fourth monolithic structure of the twelve that exists in Izamal, known as “city of the three cultures,” reflecting pre-Hispanic Yucatán, Colonial Yucatán, and the present era. There are more than 160 archaeological sites within the town’s limits. The structure has a large platform of three meters (9 feet) high with three buildings, two smaller ones located on the east and west sides respectively and the main structure measures six meters (18 feet) high, located on the south side. Visiting hours are Monday through Sunday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Other archaeological sites you can visit nearby include Itzamatul, Kinich Kakmó, Habuk, Tu’ul (the rabbit) as well as the San Antonio de Padua Convent and the picturesque streets of Izamal.

Ik Kil is located 2 miles (3 kilometers) from the archaeological zone of Chichén Itzá. Surround it by exotic plants and trees, and many other species. The main attraction of Ik Kil is its cenote, adorned with vegetation. There are stone stairs by which one can descend to see its depth and admire its beauty from various vantage points.

The cenote of X’kekén, or Dzitnup, is also located 2 miles (3 kilometers) from the “Magical Town” of Valladolid. The name X’Kekén means pork in Yucatec Maya. To reach the cenote you enter through a narrow hole as it is an underground cavern, but when you arrive you can see that the space is not so small in addition to its spectacular view.

Ubicado a 3 kilómetros de la zona arqueológica de Chichén Itzá. Está rodeado de plantas exóticas y muchas otras especies. El principal atractivo de Ik Kil es su cenote adornado de vegetación y para ver su profundidad se baja por unas escaleras de piedra para admirar su belleza desde distintos puntos.

Está localizado a 3 kilómetros del pueblo mágico de Valladolid. Su nombre significa cerdo en maya. Para acceder al cenote se entra por un agujero estrecho ya que es una caverna subterránea, pero al llegar se puede apreciar que el espacio no es tan reducido además de su vista espectacular.

Localizado a 20 minutos de Mérida, en la carretera a Campeche, en el pueblo de Chocholá. Este Cenote presenta condiciones muy seguras y es ideal para nadar en sus aguas transparentes de color azul turquesa. Cuenta con restaurante, alberca, baños, juegos, lockers, wifi, etc. Abierto los 365 días del año.

RUTA NORTE | NORTH ROUTE Dzibilchaltún Horario: Lunes a Domingo de 8:00 a 17:00 hrs y el Museo de martes a domingo de 9:00 a 16:00 hrs, todos los días del año. Precio: $152 pesos extranjeros y $49 pesos nacionales. Los domingos no pagan los locales y turistas nacionales. Lugar de Escrituras sobre Piedras Planas (500 a.C.) Resplandeció entre 600 y 1000 d.C. La respetuosa y sabia relación con la naturaleza, convirtieron a los mayas en grandes astrónomos que hasta hoy en día observarás en el edificio denominado “El templo de las 7 muñecas”, nombre que recibe por que en su interior encontraron 7 ofrendas de muñecas. El edificio está perfectamente alineado con los puntos cardinales, cuyas fachadas anterior y posterior tienen una puerta, 2 ventanas, mediante las cuales se genera

un extraordinario fenómeno de luz durante los equinoccios de primavera y de otoño: “Kin (El Sol) se posesiona del Templo a través del espacio hueco de sus puertas, y marcos que le dan un reverencial abrazo”. Suba las escalinatas y disfrute de la belleza del templo, y siente su energía. Contemple “La capilla abierta” de la época colonial con su santuario de bóveda corrida. Recorra los edificios, admire la Pirámide más larga del mundo maya. El Cenote “Xlakáh” (Poblado Viejo), proveía de agua a la población, además fue centro de ritos religiosos. ¡Sumérjase en sus Frescas y Milenarias Aguas Sagradas! En el museo encontrarás piezas extraídas del cenote. Dzibilchaltún tiene un parador turístico, librería, artesanías, y baños para cambiarse de ropa después de nadar en el hermoso cenote.

Progreso Fundada el 1 de julio de 1871 en la categoría de pueblo, pero pierde esa etiqueta el 9 de enero de 1875 al convertirse en villa. Su suelo marino y baja profundidad impedía el arribo de grandes embarcaciones, sin embargo no fue obstáculo para el emprendedor pueblo yucateco al construir el muelle conocido como “Puerto de altura”, prodigio de ingeniería marítima siendo el muelle más largo de México. Camine en el malecón, recuéstese en las arenas finas y blancas, nade en las tranquilas y tibias aguas; disfrute del mar y de las refrescantes bebidas que ofrecen los restaurantes, sorpréndase gratamente con el sabor de los mariscos, su paladar se lo agradecerá. ¡Déjese consentir!

La palabra Dzibilchaltún está formada por cuatro vocablos mayas: "Dzib", escritura; "il", locativo; "chal", plano; y "tun", piedra; lo que puede traducirse como “lugar donde hay escritura en las piedras planas”. The word Dzibilchaltún is formed by four Mayan words: "Dzib", writing; "il", locative; "chal", flat; and tun, stone; which can be translated as "place where there is writing on the flat stones".
