Planos Disfrazados | Disguised Plans La muestra cultural “Planos Disfrazados” de la artista Beatriz Morales, está exhibida en el expoforo del MACAY con obras como “Kihaab” que mide 10 x 8.30 metros, conformada por costales que se reutilizaron que forman un lienzo donde se entrelazan fibra de henequén, pintura y tela de algodón, y de “Kaan”, formada por capas de pinturas con telas manchadas de color que están encima de un escenario. Entrada gratuita y disponible hasta finales de marzo.

Día de la guayabera y del trovador Day of the guayabera and the troubadour

Desde el 21 de marzo del 2013, se celebra el día de la guayabera, prenda típica y representativa de Yucatán. A finales del siglo XIX se volvió popular en el Estado, y se consolidó en el siglo XX como símbolo del Caribe.

La guayabera goza de fama mundial, y con el paso del tiempo se ha ido adaptando con nuevos diseños y colores. En ese mismo día se celebra el “Día del Trovador” desde 1977, celebración iniciada por el compositor Juan Magaña y Alonzo. Con estas dos fechas, Mérida recibe a la primavera.

Since March 21, 2013, the day of the guayabera is celebrated, a typical and representative garment of Yucatan. At the end of the 19th century it became popular in the State, and consolidated in the 20th century as a symbol of the Caribbean.

The guayabera is world famous, and over time it has been adapted with new designs and colors. On that same day, the “Troubadour's Day” has been celebrated since 1977, a celebration initiated by the composer Juan Magaña y Alonzo. With these two dates, Mérida receives spring.

onsiderado como un evento que indicaba el inicio de un nuevo ciclo de tiempo para los antiguos mayas, el equinoccio es un fenómeno astronómico que sucede dos veces al año y en dos lugares diferentes en Yucatán: Dzibilchaltún y Chichén Itzá.

El fenómeno enfatiza el carácter divino impregnado en la cosmogonía maya, en el que el equinoccio de primavera era interpretado como el inicio de la temporada de siembras, mientras que el inicio de la cosecha era en el equinoccio de otoño.

onsidered an event that signaled the start of a new cycle of time for the ancient Maya, the Equinox is an astronomical phenomenon that occurs twice a year and at two different places in Yucatán: Dzibichaltún and Chichén Itzá.

The phenomenon emphasizes the divine character steeped in Maya cosmogony in which the spring Equinox was interpreted as the start of the season of planting, while the autumn Equinox marked the beginning of the harvest.

C H I C H É N Ubicada a 110 kilómetros de Mérida, esta zona arqueológica, fue una antigua ciudad maya que amalgama religión, guerra y comercio; su nombre se traduce como “boca de pozo” y tuvo su resplandor entre los años 900 y 1200 d.C. De ella se desprende “La Serpiente Emplumada” en el Castillo de Kukulkán, lugar donde se da el equinoccio entre las 3:00 y 4:00 de la tarde, el cual comienza cuando el sol da un viaje elíptico atravesando el Ecuador del hemisferio oriente al occidente.

El equinoccio se manifiesta en el Castillo, mediante la magia proyección de triángulos de luz y sombra del cuerpo de una serpiente, que se dibujan en el costado de

la escalinata norte, complementado con las efigies de cabezas de serpiente emplumada que se encuentran en las bases.

Lo maravilloso del fenómeno es que en el punto noreste se encuentra en la dirección exacta de cenote sagrado de Chichén Itzá, sitio por el cual Kukulkán descendía por el tributo.

¿Cuándo sucede?

The Equinox manifests itself in the Castle, through the magic of projection triangles of light and shade of the outline of a serpent, which are illuminated on the side of the north staircase. This is complemented by the carvings of plumed snake-heads that are found in the base of the pyramid.

The wonderful thing of this phenomenon is that it points to the northeast, which is the exact direction of Sacred Well at Chichén Itzá, the place where Kukulkán descends to receive his tribute.

Situada a 21 kilómetros al noroeste de Mérida, esta zona arqueológica fue un antiguo centro ceremonial maya que, de acuerdo con los especialistas, tuvo su época de mayor esplendor entre los años 600 y 1000 d.C. Su nombre significa “donde hay estructuras sobre las piedras planas”, y es ahí donde los visitantes pueden ser testigos de uno de los fenómenos astronómicos más importantes del mundo maya. A partir de las 5:00 de la mañana, abren la zona arqueológica para esperar la aparición del sol por el oriente.

Poco a poco, a través de las ventanas y puertas del llamado “Templo de las Siete Muñecas”, llamado así porque justo debajo de su cámara principal se encontró una ofrenda que contenía siete figuras de barro con forma humana, se puede observar

la silueta del astro rey que va avanzando hasta colocarse justo detrás del centro del edificio.

Lo anterior permite al espectador, presenciar una asombrosa imagen del sol y su resplandor atravesando y enmarcando el templo, en un espectáculo que, de modo exacto, indicaba a los mayas, entre otras cosas, el cambio de estación y la llegada de la primavera o el otoño.

Located 21 kilometers (13.8 miles) northwest of Mérida, this archaeological area was an ancient Maya ceremonial center that, according to the authorities, had its period of greatest splendor between 600 C.E. and 1000 C.E. (Note: Anno Domini, A.D., has been replaced with Common Era, C.E.) Its name means “Where there

are structures on the flat stones.” It is here where visitors can witness one of the most important astronomical phenomena of the Maya world. It all begins around 5 AM when the sun makes its first appearance in the east.

Little by little, through the windows and doors of the so-called “Tempo of the Seven Dolls,” (so named because just below the principle chamber seven clay figurines in human form were found), you can see the silhouette of the Astro king progress up to be positioned just behind the center of the building.

This allows visitors to witness a stunning image of the sun and its rays shine through and frame the temple. It is a spectacle of precise moment and demonstrated to the Maya the change of season and the arrival of spring or autumn, among other things.

Merida City was founded on January 6, 1542 by Francisco de Montejo y Leon “El Mozo”, It was built on the site of the ancient Maya ceremonial center of T’Ho. Las 25 litografías seleccionados por el explorador que se incluyeron en un folio de 300 ejemplares, mostraron al mundo entero la existencia de las ciudades mayas con sus emblemáticas construcciones y sus respectivas pirámides. Catherwood difundió sobre la existencia de la gran cultura maya a través de los libros “Incidentes de viajes a Centroamérica, Chiapas y Yucatán”, e “Incidentes de Viajes a Yucatán”, publicados en 1841 y 1843 respectivamente. Si estas visitando Mérida, no te pierdas a oportunidad de apreciar las espléndidas litografías de Frederick Catherwood, patrimonio cultural de la humanidad. La galería se ubica a unos metros del barrio histórico de Santiago.

El significado de papadzul es originario del lenguaje maya, papa (alimento), dzul (caballero o amo) aunque también se deriva la palabra papak (embarrar) y zul (remojar), por lo que su traducción sería “el alimento de los amos”. Su preparación es sencilla, sus ingredientes son tortillas, huevo cocido, salsa verde de pepitas de las calabazas y salsa de tomate frito.

Arqueología, Cenote Abierto y Playa · Archeology, Open Cenote and Beach DZIBILCHALTÚN (Lugar de las Escrituras sobre Piedras Planas, 500 a.C.) Resplandece entre 600 y 1000 d.C. La respetuosa y sabia relación con la naturaleza hizo de los mayas grandes astrónomos que hasta nuestros días observamos en el edificio denominado TEMPLO DE LAS 7 MUÑECAS, ya que en su interior encontraron 7 ofrendas de muñecas.

Contemple LA CAPILLA ABIERTA de la época colonial con su santuario de bóveda corrida.

Recorra sus edificios, admire la Pirámide más larga del Mundo Maya. El CENOTE XLAKÁH (Poblado Viejo), proveía de agua a la población y era el centro de

ritos religiosos. No sólo admire, ¡Sumérjase en sus Frescas y Milenarias Aguas Sagradas! En el Museo, encontrará piezas extraídas del cenote. Además, Dzibilchaltún cuenta con un parador turístico, librería, artesanías, y baños donde puede cambiarse de ropas.

Horario: Lunes a domingo de 08:00 a 17:00 hrs.

Precios: $227 extranjeros, $124 nacionales. Mexicanos con identificación oficial no pagan los domingos.

Equinoccios: En el TEMPLO DE LAS 7 MUÑECAS perfectamente alineado con los puntos cardinales, en cuyas fachadas anterior y posterior tiene 1 puer-

ta y 2 ventanas, a través de las cuales se genera un extraordinario fenómeno de luz durante los EQUINOCCIOS DE PRIMAVERA Y OTOÑO: “Al amanecer, Kin (El Sol) se posesiona del Templo a través del espacio hueco de su puerta, cuyos marcos le dan un reverencial abrazo”. Suba las escalinatas y goce de la belleza del templo y sienta además su energía.

El fenómeno sucede el 21 de marzo y 21 de septiembre respectivamente, durante la mañana. Desde las 5:00 hrs., la gente acude a la zona arqueológica para presenciar los equinoccios de primavera y otoño.
