Anna Hall, 32
Head volleyball coach
Hartselle City Schools
Anna Hall is a championship winning softball coach at Hartselle High School where she teaches Biology, Physical Science and Earth and Science Space. The Lady Tigers won the state title in 2014 and 2018. Hall is a 2009 graduate of Hartselle High School and Calhoun Community College where she played softball. The Decatur resident attends Flint Baptist Church in Decatur with her family, parents Steve and Patricia Hall and brother John Hall. In her spare time, Hall enjoys spending time with family and friends, coaching softball, playing pickleball and other competitive sports.
Brittany Powell, 38
Substitute teacher, Hartselle City Schools
Brittany Powell hails from a family of lifelong Hartselle residents. She is the daughter of Tony and Becky Watson and attended Hartselle City Schools and UAH. During her time at Peck Glasgow Insurance Agency, Powell became an ambassador with the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce in 2022. “In October 2023, I decided to pursue my lifelong dream and left my position at Peck-Glasgow to re-enter the field of education. I am currently working as a substitute teacher for Hartselle City Schools and Decatur Heritage Christian Academy while preparing to embark on a master’s program in Elementary Education at the University of West Alabama,” Powell said. She is married to Cole, and they share Henry, their goldendoodle. Her hobbies include cheering for Alabama football and softball, soaking up the sun at the beach and cherishing moments with her family.
Chris Rigoni, 39
EVP, Senior Director of Operations, Coastal Community Bank
Chris Rigoni has called the City of Hartselle home for the majority of his life. Presently, Rigoni holds a significant role as a member of the Board of Directors for the Downtown Hartselle Business League. In this capacity, he works tirelessly to enhance and revitalize downtown Hartselle, benefiting investors, merchants, local enterprises and the broader community. “I try to be actively involved in the community and serve in any way I can,” Rigoni said. It runs in the family as Chris’s uncle Keith Rigoni is a lifelong member of the community who is also actively involved. He is married to Erin Rigoni, and they share three children: Isaiah, 8, Emory, 6 and Madelyn, 2. An avid dirt bike rider, Chris is currently restoring a 1975 Monte Carlo.
David Hayes, 22
Owner and master barber of DaveChops Barbershop
David Hayes graduated from Hartselle High School in 2019, and embarked on a unique journey after attending Troy University. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic prompted a significant career shift, leading him to pursue a newfound passion as a barber. “I had thought about becoming a barber and decided to go for it,” Hayes said. “Being self-taught, I dedicated myself to acquiring the necessary hours and credentials to obtain the title of master barber, successfully completing the Master Barber program in 2022. Currently residing in Hartselle, David shares his life with Madison, the love of his life, and their newborn son, Asher Wade Hayes. Family holds a special place in his heart, with parents Jackie and Bobby Wojtas, sister Jayla Potts, and nephew Jaylan Williams all residing in Hartselle as well. Beyond his thriving career, David possesses a notable talent for communication, making each haircut experience more than just a service. Engaging with his clients, he creates an atmosphere where conversation flows as smoothly as his haircutting skills. In his leisure time, David indulges in various hobbies that add vibrancy to his life. As a member of the North Alabama American Poolplayers Association (APA), he actively participates in both 8 ball and 9 ball pool leagues, showcasing his prowess on the pool table. During moments of relaxation, Xbox One games become a source of enjoyment.
Jaime Hatcher, 36
Worship Leader, Creative & Administrative Assistant, Life Church
Jaime Hatcher’s journey traces back to her early roots in Hartselle, where her family settled in 1992. After graduating high school in 2006, Jaime initially pursued a degree in music therapy at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Miss. Her pursuit of musical excellence led her to Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., where she honed her skills in commercial music with a vocal concentration and songwriting emphasis. Her full-time work in Christian music publishing brought her into collaboration with notable figures such as Lauren Daigle, Seth Mosley, Mia Fieldes and Kari Jobe. Jaime’s life took a turn towards mission work and worship ministry in northern England before returning to Nashville, where she met and married her husband, Jacob. The couple spent four years in Louisville, Ky., pursuing theological studies before deciding to bring their growing family back to Hartselle. Back in her hometown, Jaime immersed herself in local church ministry and eventually assumed the role of Director of Promotion and Events at the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce. Her responsibilities included overseeing numerous community events, notably the Hartselle Depot Days festival. Currently, Jaime has transitioned back to full-time ministry, serving as a worship leader and holding a dual role as a creative and administrative assistant at Life Church in Hartselle. Together with Jacob, she leads the church’s young adult/college and career ministry, Vine, on Monday nights. The Hatchers are proud parents to three children: Hank, Chet and Mollie Jane. Beyond her professional and family life, Jaime finds joy in pursuing her hobbies, including singing, playing guitar and piano, songwriting, cooking and savoring a good cup of coffee. Daughter to John and Denise Smyth, Jaime is not only a dedicated professional and loving wife and mother but also a woman whose journey reflects a harmonious blend of faith, community service and a profound love for music.
Heather Drinkard, 33
Director of Special Programs, The Housing Authority of the City of Hartselle
Born and raised in Hartselle, Heather Drinkard graduated from Hartselle High in 2008. Embarking on her professional journey in 2010, she found my passion in parks and recreation programming. Fast forward to 2023, and she has assumed the role of Director of Special Programs at The Housing Authority of the City of Hartselle, stationed at the Osborne Warren Oden Recreation Center (OWO). In her capacity at OWO, Drinkard oversees the administration of affordable childcare services tailored for children aged 5-12, a vital offering especially during the summer months. Furthermore, she runs an enriching after-school program designed for students attending Hartselle City Schools. “At OWO, our commitment extends beyond mere programming; we take pride in serving as a valuable resource for parents and children alike in our vibrant community,” she said. She is married to Cody and the two share one son, Scout, who is 3 years old.

Jeni Jordan, 33 Project Engineer, TTL
Jeni Jordan, a 2009 graduate of Priceville High School, earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2013. She has been working as an Environmental Engineer in North Alabama for more than 11 years, also earning her Professional Engineering license for the State of Alabama. Still an active member, Jeni has served in various leadership roles in the American Society of Civil Engineers both in the UAH Student Chapter and the Huntsville Branch. Jeni is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce. Jeni serves on the committee that organizes the Enchanted Forest of Decatur, is currently participating in the Excellence in Leadership class with the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce and serves on various ministries at her church. She married her high school sweetheart, Noah, and the couple have four children: Byson, 9, Beckett, 7, Nonah, 5 and Buckley, 4.

Kalleigh Thomas, 38
Owner, Shoefisticated
Meet Kalleigh Thomas, the proud owner of Shoefisticated, in downtown Hartselle. Kalleigh’s journey began at Holly Pond High School, and she later pursued her academic aspirations at Auburn University, earning a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management. In 2010, Kalleigh brought her passion for fashion and personalized service to life by establishing Shoefisticated in the heart of Historic Downtown Hartselle. Thirteen years on, she continues to infuse the boutique with eclectic style, maintaining a commitment to exceptional customer service. Beyond her thriving business, Kalleigh finds joy in her family life. Married to Matthew Thomas, she is a loving mother to a 9-year-old bonus daughter, Magnolia, and a 10-month-old son, Shepherd. Their family is complete with a cherished fur baby named Mulligan. The Thomas family is an active part of the Hartselle Church of Christ community. When not immersed in the world of fashion and entrepreneurship, Kalleigh indulges in hobbies such as exploring estate sales, honing her culinary skills in the kitchen, and enjoying the occasional shopping spree.
Kate Dupuis, 35

A native of Vermont, Kate moved to Alabama with her husband in 2011. After working in the Student Success Center at UAH for one year, Kate was thrilled to be offered the choral director position in Hartselle. Kate holds a Bachelor of Music in music education from the University of Southern Maine with a double concentration in Voice and Trumpet, and a Master of Music in music education from Boston University. She and her husband Rene gave two children: Beckett, 8 and Avery Adele, 5. Her hobbies include traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with family. Fun fact: Kate’s first job was scooping ice cream at the original Ben and Jerry’s scoop shop in Burlington, Vermont.

Meet Lela Tyler Weeks, the creative force behind Homemade by Lala. Currently residing in Hartselle for the past three years, Lela’s journey is a delightful blend of culinary expertise, family love and entrepreneurial spirit. Lela’s story begins in Falkville, her hometown, where her passion for creating delectable treats took root. In 2011, she embarked on an exciting adventure, relocating to Orlando to join the magical world of Walt Disney World. Over the course of a decade, Lela carved out a career, enchanting guests in the parks and resorts with her sweet and savory creations. The turning point came during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, prompting Lela to channel her culinary talents into something extraordinary. Thus, Homemade by Lala was born, initially operating from the confines of her apartment. Fueled by determination and a love for her craft, Lela and her husband made the pivotal decision to return to their roots in 2021 and establish a brick-and-mortar shop. Beyond her professional achievements, Lela finds fulfillment in her role as a wife and mother. Married to Brenton, she cherishes precious moments with their son, who turned one in January. In addition to her culinary prowess, Lela enjoys a variety of hobbies, including reading, crocheting and quality time with her family. Whether she’s engrossed in a good book, working on a crochet project, or delighting in playtime with her son, Lela embraces the simple joys of life. A fun tidbit from Lela’s past includes her time working in Epcot for two Festivals of the Holidays, where she achieved the remarkable feat of crafting over a quarter of a million cookies.

In the pursuit of guiding individuals toward their fullest potential, Leonard Morris II has devoted his life to various roles that showcase his leadership acumen. Through coaching, officiating, teaching and managerial endeavors, he has consistently utilized his skills to uplift others on their life journeys. Active community involvement has played a pivotal role in influencing others positively wherever he goes. His commitment to investing in individuals, teams and families has yielded significant returns through the years, demonstrating a profound impact. “My parents and mentors have been a great asset in my personal, professional and spiritual journey in life. I’m reminded daily that leaders serve,” he said. “It’s my honor to help adults as well as youth to discover their full potential through coaching and equipping them with the tools needed to succeed. Throughout the years, I’ve had the privilege of coaching athletes, business owners, leaders and students in our community and across the state. Developing leaders is a passion of mine. Without the investment and support of my wife, my family and coaches over the years, I would not be the person I am today. In 2023, along with coaching, our family joined the Life Church Hartselle staff as youth pastors. We are proud to serve our community.” He has been married to Kristi for more than 12 years, The joys of parenthood are reflected in their family with daughters Joy, 9, Selah, 8, Olivia, 3, and son Leo, 5, as well as the newest addition, Gideon, 7 months. In his free time, Morris enjoys officiating football, coaching, reading, playing golf and grilling out.
Lindsey Tapscott, 39

Lindsey Tapscott joined Davidson Homes in 2018 as the Director of Marketing for the Corporate Division. Tapscott holds her bachelor’s degree in communication arts with a concentration in public communication and a minor in marketing from the University of North Alabama. Prior to her position at Davidson Homes, she spent 10 years developing sales and marketing strategies for several companies and entities. Over the past five years, Tapscott has steadily grown the Corporate Marketing and Online Sales Divisions while also creating, managing and executing the company’s marketing strategies. She recently completed the executive MBA program at the University of North Alabama and was named a silver award winner for The Nationals marketing professional of the year. Her hobbies include reading, going on vacation, and watching all the kids enjoy their activities – volleyball, softball, soccer, and most recently, basketball. Lindsey is married to Heath Tapscott, and they have three beautiful children Claire, 15, Charli, 11 and Reece, 5.

Maegan Jones is a leader in Hartselle and the surrounding areas where she is known for her dedication to her customers, her commitment to community development and her voluntary contributions through various organizations. As a multi-million-dollar producer and successful professional in the real estate industry, she recently accepted the opportunity to serve as the Qualifying Broker for Leading Edge Real Estate – Decatur. Maegan continues to pave the way by generously sharing her knowledge and opportunities with those around her and she is excited to continue making significant strides in the local market and North Alabama. In addition to her role in the business world, Maegan is deeply involved in community affairs. She serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce, where she actively plays a role in shaping the local business landscape. Furthermore, her commitment to the betterment of the community is evident through her involvement in the Hartselle for Tomorrow Foundation where she currently serves as a Director for the Foundation’s Board and will begin serving as the Chairman for the Foundation Board on May 1. Maegan also currently serves as an integral member of the steering committee for the City of Hartselle’s comprehensive plan through 2040, where her insights and expertise are invaluable in shaping the city’s growth and development strategies. Maegan believes in intentionally building authentic relationships and actively engaging in initiatives that are aimed at sustaining and enhancing the local community. Maegan’s educational background is equally impressive with an associate degree in Business Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Acquisition & Contract Management. Her academic achievements have contributed to her success in the professional realm, enabling her to excel in her career and make significant contributions to the organizations she serves. On a personal note, Maegan is happily married to her best friend, Justin, who is a Sergeant with the Alabama State Troopers. Together, they are proud parents to four beautiful girls. Justin and Maegan own and operate Empire Chimney Solutions, a successful chimney sweep and repair business. Their family values are reflected in their active involvement in their local church, Hartselle First Assembly of God. Maegan was voted the Best of the Best Realtor through the Hartselle Enquirer for 2022 and 2023, has received numerous awards including the 2022 Pinnacle of Excellence Award through her previous brokerage, and was ranked in the top 1.5% of Real Estate Professionals in the United States through RealTrends for 2023. Of all of the awards she could ever receive though, her deep-rooted satisfaction is found in being a supportive and loving wife and mom. Maegan and Justin share a blended family and together have four daughters – Gracie is a freshmen and majorette at Troy University, Millie Kate is a freshman at Hartselle High School and cheers as a teammate on the JV cheer squad, Paetyn is a third grader at F.E. Burleson and enjoys archery and environmental club, and their youngest daughter Allie attends Pre-K at F.E. Burleson and enjoys crafting, swimming, and riding her bike and scooter.
Maggie McKelvey, 39
Owner and dentist, Hartselle Family Dentistry
Maggie McKelvey currently practices her profession at Hartselle Family Dentistry in her hometown of Hartselle.
Her journey began in 2002 when she graduated from Hartselle High School, paving the way for higher education at the University of Alabama. There, Maggie excelled academically, cheering for the Crimson Tide, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Biochemistry and Math. Eager to pursue her passion for dentistry, she continued her education at UAB Dental School. In 2012, Maggie established The North Alabama Dental Assisting Program, contributing to the dental education landscape. The year 2016 marked a significant milestone as she embarked on her entrepreneurial journey by opening her dental practice, Hartselle Family Dentistry. Beyond her professional pursuits, Maggie finds joy in her farm life at The Tabernacle Farm. Married to Grant McKelvey, she shares her bustling household with three active boys spanning eighth, fifth and first grades. In her downtime, she can be found cheering on her children at the ballfields, exploring new destinations with family and friends, tending to her garden or enjoying the freedom of horseback riding.
Mary Virgina Halbrooks, 34
Family Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner, Family Health of Hartselle
Mary Virgina Halbrooks is a lifelong resident of Hartselle who has a passion for healthcare. She is employed at Family Health of Hartselle as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner.
A 2007 graduate of Hartselle High School, Halbrooks studied nursing at the University of Alabama at Huntsville, earning her degree in 2011 and completing the nurse practitioner program after five years as a RN. Halbrooks graduated with her masters in 2018 and started at Family Health of Hartselle in January 2019. She is married to Will Halbrooks and the couple have three sons, ages 4, 3 and 19 months. She is the daughter of Mike and Lynn Reeves of Hartselle. A big fan of Auburn sports, her hobbies include being with family and friends, working out, watching sports and reading.
Rachel Howard, 32

Rachel Howard has been a registered nurse for 10 years and still works part time at Whitfield Family Practice, but her real passion is being behind the camera. “I’ve been a photographer for seven years, certified spin instructor for six years and worship leader for four years,” she said. Howard is the owner and photographer of RAW Images that specializes in wedding and family photography. Getting to know her clients as friends and being a part of their journey is what Howard says is her favorite thing about being a photographer. Howard said becoming a full-time photographer was not her initial game plan. “I bought a camera on Black Friday 2016 and thought to myself ‘this might be fun.’ It’s amazing how the Lord works in your life when you let Him.” She married her Junior High School sweetheart, Nick, in 2014 and the couple welcomed their son, Wiley, in November. Her hobbies include teaching spin at Elevate Studio in Decatur, leading worship at FBC Hartselle, listening to audiobooks and playing golf.
Shelby Keenum, 27
Environmental Engineer, Mid-South Testing, Inc.
Shelby Keenum, a lifelong resident of Hartselle, embarked on a six-year journey in Tuscaloosa pursuing a degree in environmental engineering at the University of Alabama. Growing up in Hartselle, Shelby actively participated in sports, academic extracurriculars, and dedicated time to East Highland Baptist Church. The dream of attending the University of Alabama materialized, leading to the acquisition of a bachelor’s degree while immersing in the spirited culture of Crimson Tide sporting events.
During the Tuscaloosa years, Shelby discovered academic fulfillment and love, culminating in marriage to Gray in May 2022. After completing studies, Shelby returned to their hometown, launching a career as an Environmental Engineer. Joining Enersolv Corporation in 2020 and later transitioning to Mid-South Testing, Inc. in 2022, Shelby engages in fieldwork, cultivates client relationships, and manages reporting within the environmental and geotechnical consulting sectors, specifically focusing on soils, surface water, and groundwater.
Raised by parents Kevin and Elisa Harris, who relocated to Hartselle shortly before Shelby’s birth, the family includes siblings—an older brother, Sam, and a younger brother, Cy. Shelby values relationships with sisters-in-law Meagan and Lauren, along with their one-year-old nephew, John Irving. Beyond professional pursuits, Shelby passionately follows baseball, relishing Atlanta Braves games on summer-fall nights. As a devoted Crimson Tide sports fan, particularly in football, Shelby’s strong sense of independence is evident in their enjoyment of woodworking and the constant pursuit of new projects. Contributing to a small, woman-owned company, Shelby finds fulfillment in addressing industrial, government, residential and municipal environmental and geotechnical challenges.
Spencer Bell, 21
Senior Pastor, Mount Zion Baptist Church
Spencer B. Bell is a lifelong resident of Hartselle.
Reared in both First Baptist and First Methodist churches in Hartselle, his faith is the foundation and formation of his life. He possesses a sincere passion for preaching God’s Word, leading others into a relationship with Jesus Christ, and encouraging the saints of God as he assists them in applying God’s Word to their lives. Prior to his service at Mt. Zion, he served as a traveling full-time evangelist for Spencer Bell Ministries, a non-profit organization whereby he preached revivals, harvest days, conferences and international engagements, maintaining an itinerant schedule. Presently, Bell serves as moderator of the Morgan Baptist Association, president of the Morgan Baptist Pastor’s Conference, president of Spencer Bell Ministries, chairman of the Non-Profit Cohort for the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce and as a member and advisor on several boards in religious and secular fields. He is a graduate of River City Christian Academy, Calhoun Community College and Athens State University, where he received the Acton E. Middlebrooks Award in religion and philosophy and the Outstanding Religion Major Award, graduating top of the religion department. Spencer presently attends the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where he is working simultaneously on two master’s degrees: a Master of Theological Studies (MTS.), and a Master of Divinity in Preaching (M.Div.). He is the son of Ray and Amy Bell of Hartselle. A lifelong University of Alabama athletics enthusiast, Spencer can often be found in the stands cheering on his beloved Alabama Football team. He also is a black coffee connoisseur, an avid reader, writer, musician and a food enthusiast.

Born and raised in Falkville, TJ Holmes spent his formative years amidst the warmth of Southern Hospitality and close-knit communities of Morgan County. “My greatgrandmother’s lifelong association with downtown Hartselle left an indelible mark on my heart, and my visits to her workplace became a treasured tradition,” he said. His journey in the world of retail began at 15-years-old when he landed his first job at Joe Roberts in downtown Hartselle. This humble beginning, Holmes said, sowed the seeds of his passion for the industry. “It was at Joe Roberts that I honed my skills and work ethic, remaining there until I embarked on my adventure to Birmingham at the age of 18. Birmingham beckoned with dreams of becoming a mortician, but fate had other plans,” he said.
“While pursuing my aspirations, I found myself in the realm of retail, working at Parisians. Instantly, I fell head over heels for the captivating world of fashion and customer service. My journey continued through the transition when Parisians merged with Belk, remaining there until 2010.
“It was a pivotal moment in my life when I received a call from Sarah Morris, the owner of The Something Blue Shoppe who asked me to come work with her. I accepted without hesitation and my professional life came full circle. Notably, The Something Blue Shoppe later acquired the Joe Roberts buildings, expanding its footprint and bringing me back to the very place where I embarked on my retail career. Holmes shares his life with his two faithful companions, his dog Dudley, and cat Letha.

Technology Coordinator, Morgan County Schools
Trey Chowning joined the Morgan County School system as its Technology Coordinator in 2022. Trey holds a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity and brings over 11 years of experience in IT, working across the healthcare, banking and education sectors. He currently lives in Hartselle with his wife, Jade, and their two sons, Rowen and Grant.
In addition to his IT career, Trey is also a talented drummer playing for the Daystar Church Worship team. Trey met his wife, Jade, who was the head majorette, while he was marching trumpet at the University of North Alabama.
During his free time, he enjoys traveling, playing disc golf and building custom wristwatches.
