OUR LADY OF PEÑAFRANCIA VISITS HOLY CHILD Though non-sectarian school, group/level/section/offices. HCECi is considered as a practicing Catholic school because most of the HCECians are Roman Catholics. True enough, Our Lady of Peñafrancia visited the school today. This September, being the birthday month of our Blessed Mama Mary and the feast month of Our Lady of Peñafrancia which will last until October being the month of the Rosary, a regular praying of the Holy Rosary will be done every morning to be led by the assigned

This religious activity aims to awaken and deepen the devotion to our Blessed Mother. Meanwhile, the institution has welcomed Her visit and has prepared activities in line with Her presence. A simple para-liturgy and campus procession were conducted today, August 8, 2014.. HCECians waved their flaglets and white hankies as their gesture of reverence and respect to Our Lady of Peñafrancia. Novena and Holy Rosary were also held.

September 8 is the birthday of Mama Mary. HCECians will celebrate her birthday this September, 2014. Her visit is a little bit earlier this school year, hence, HCECians paid tribute through the conduct of the Vigil for their devotion to Her. a Eucharistic Celebration (MASS) was conducted at MPC this morning. This year, we expect that same religious affairs will be conducted. As one community, HCECi welcomes our Lady of Peñafrancia. Viva La Virgen! VIVA!!!

School activities are open to all students, therefore everyone is given the chance to join and participate. There are times that activities (especially monthly programs) require limited participants or representatives, that is why elimination or auditions are being held to come up with the best.

In HCECi, balanced school life is given to the pupils. The COCURRICULAR ACTIVITIES (CCP) is the special arena for the pupils to cultivate and nurture their innate talents, aptitude and intelligences. CCP is the laboratory room of the academic tasks. Garnering CCP points is also important especially for pupils who are vying for honors. The grand total CCP points will be used in the deliberation of HONORS for the year-end achievers. This comprises 3 points using the 7-3 scheme as mandated by the Department of Education in selecting honors.

WHY ARE THERE SO MANY ACTIVITIES EVERY MONTH?

It always starts with the elimination stage (whether classroom-based or institutional/school-based) wherein all pupils are subjected to a predetermined evaluation tool. If students pass the standards, they become part of the competition, program and/or event. There is no, at any rate, teacher who will use his/her power and authority in choosing the pupils who will join. The pupils are NOT CHOSEN. They emerge as the best among the pupils, so they deserve to be there in the event or activity.

In CCP, pupils are exposed to activities that will allow them to apply the skills and concepts learned in the classroom according to the line of pupils’ interests. The extra-curricular activities and academic-related activities, even special HCEC programs ( like Enhancement Classes, Tutorials, Sports, Music and Movement, Games and Sports) are provided to pupils so that these will bring the opportunities for the children to participate and interact to develop their personality and skills and eventually boost their confidence.

Pupils are exposed to school activities NOT TO GAIN CCP POINTS but TO GAIN CONFIDENCE, EXPERIENCE and LEARNING MOMENTS that will make them better persons and excellent pupils.

HCECi provides these activities with the belief that the school program is geared towards the attainment of the 5 Cs : Competence, Character, Collaboration, Creativity and Commitment to Achieve.

WHY IS THERE THE Co-Curricular Activities? Academic tasks are not the only object of education. School life is not only about books. There are essential things in life that are not learned from books and within the four walls of the classrooms.

In HCECi, balanced school life is given to the pupils. The CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES (CCP) is the

Children DECIDE what activities they would turn into. Parents and teachers motivate and encourage the children to participate. At the end of the day, the children themselves benefit from the participation they wish join in. 

With this kind of program, HCECi has been producing leaders and achievers in all fields of endeavor whether in sports, journalism, music and movement producing scholars in well-respected secondary and tertiary
