iven it’s the middleish of the year, we know that some of you may be reflecting on how 2018 has panned out so far. So you haven’t climbed Kilimanjaro yet or reached your goal weight. Big deal! mom. Soap on a rope is dead in the shower and you bought him socks last year. Check out page 10 for some retro-inspired gifts for dad that you may just want to keep for yourself too – shotgun the turntable. When it comes to entertaining dad, this one’s a whole lot easier than the gift conundrum. And in fact, these are tried and tested with our own dads! You really can’t go wrong with a game of golf, some cold beers and greasy food – separately or all together on one day (which is how we think it should be done.) For the ultimate dad day out check out the itinerary we’ve planned on page 18, and if you’re chasing some lekker graze for dad then pages 15-17 have got you covered. I hope that you enjoy reading this month’s issue as much as my team and I have enjoyed putting it together. Happy father’s day to all the dads in PTA!

When it comes to spoiling yourself, many of the time a woman’s top choice would be to go have her nails done. and one that we highly recommend is the French Ombre which is a natural French manicure with no harsh line. By adding a modern twist to a normal French Manicure, the French Ombre has become one of Tammy Taylor Nail’s signatures. It’s highly requested and their staff nail it each time – pun intended! Pearl, the owner of Tammy Taylor Nails Faerie Glen, says that while we’ll be seeing many more French Ombre’s in winter, most clients will start to opt for darker colours. One of the trends for the colder months will be different shades of greys – those with a cool tone and those with more of a warmer toned base. From long, sculpted, acrylic nails to short, fresh nails with a Gelegance
polish, which is like Gelish, whatever look you’re after it can be achieved by their fantastic team! Now we don’t know about you, but we love stepping out of a salon with beautiful looking nails and feeling utterly relaxed and as if we’ve been treated like royalty, and we’re sure many of you would agree. This is undoubtedly what you will feel like once you step out of the Tammy Taylor Nails salon in Faerie Glen! 799 Old Farm Road, Old Farm Centre, Faerie Glen, Pretoria, South Africa

t seems the Tammy Taylor Nails brand has taken South Africa by storm as there are currently 45 salons countrywide. Each salon is unique yet the basic principle of treating their clients like queens is noticeable throughout all their branches. The reason why we’re such fans of the Faerie Glen branch? It is a simply gorgeous setting with such talented staff! As soon as you step into the salon, you know you’re in for luxury. From the gold and white themed décor, splashes of rose gold and opulent seating, to professional stations that house everything your nail technician will need while attending to you, it’s easy for you just to sit back and relax while enjoying your treatment. hen you live in a neighbourhood like Menlo Park, there is almost no need to go anywhere else. It’s like your own little town within the city. The open-air Greenlynn Village Centre, the Menlo SuperSpar across the road, a local and more traditional fruit and veg, an actual “tuisnywerheid” with freshly baked goods and a small hardware shop ensures that locals are well looked after.
Words Renate Engelbrecht Images Supplied
When it comes to restaurants in the area, Carlton Café is almost the definition of Menlo Park. Critics regularly rave about its signature white chocolate and macadamia nut Blondie – a must taste when you visit. 5 www.carltoncafe.co.za The Greenlynn Village Centre across from Carlton Café is also full of surprises. From Eisbein & Co, where you’ll find the best eisbein in town, Capital Craft with the best craft beers South Africa has to offer, Buffelsfontein Beesboerdery Restaurant with its impressive braille menus and the Brooklyn Theatre with regular shows for the whole family. They have quite a few shows to look forward to in June with the Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra performing a festive Viennese concert, featuring the magical music of Johann Strauss II and later in the month some music from the movies. They will also be hosting an impressive Verdi Gala. Over weekends Greenlynn Village Centre is packed with people at the Hazel Food Market. Here you’ll find delicious cheeses, meats and
fresh produce, as well as delectable food items that no one can say no to even if you’ve already had breakfast. 5 www.greenlyn.co.za As with many things in life, neighbourhoods often also overlap. Some would say Aroma Coffee Roastery falls under Brooklyn, others would say that it’s part of Menlo Park. Either way, visit them for a cup of really good coffee! The Southern border of Menlo Park has become a trendy restaurant hub called The Village, which also overlaps with Hazelwood and Maroelana. 5 www.aromacoffee.co.za Alfie’s Italian Café is famous for its Italian dishes and 23 On Hazelwood has grown to be a favourite among locals, with both a bar and a bakery to brag with. Smaak’s Lamb Pita is also a recommended bucket list item. 5 www.23onhazelwood.co.za 5 www.smaakbydough.com
Whatever you decide, be sure you make the most of your day in Menlo Park , as its filled with a series of events and memories.
Even though she has not been living in the city of jacaranda’s that long, Katrien Nel sure knows how to make its charm work for her. But it’s not just the city’s charm that has her captivated. It’s also its people. Without them, dancing at Weiveld wouldn’t be much fun, a packed Loftus Stadium would be impossible and the vibe at Hazel Food Market on a Saturday morning would not be a vibe at all. It’s also due to Pretoria’s people that mid-January is her favourite time of the year because that is when everyone returns with new oomph! She loves the Lynnwood Glen neighbourhood most but when she wants to hide from the world she prefers the residential Bateleur Bastion in Wapadrand, where her father lives. “It feels like the bushveld,” she says. She also enjoys scrolling through the books at Menlyn Shopping Centre’s Exclusive Books and dining at Menlyn Maine’s Old Town Italy. Apparently, this popular restaurant’s deli and ice cream make it so much more worth it. 5 www.oldtown.co.za Pretoria is filled with lovely images worth capturing. Katrien would like to capture the view from Faerie Glen hill, Paul Kruger’s house for its simplicity, the animals at the Rietvlei Nature Reserve, the city’s lights from the Voortrekker Monument at night and a packed Loftus Stadium during a Springbok rugby game. Her suggestions to a stranger wanting to get to know Pretoria includes a cold beer at Capital Craft, watching the purple Jacaranda trees in October and visiting the Union Buildings. 5 www.capitalcraft.co.za Hello Pretoria • June 2018 • Hellopretoria.co.za

GETTING TO KNOW
John Sa What inspires you the most? I believe in the journey of introspection, discovering your own power and your own intrinsic reason for being on earth. What inspires me most is diving deeper into that and understanding myself better. The more I discover the more I am able to heal my past and future and bring about the most valued and powerful version of myself. So really what inspires me most is self-discovery.
What’s a weird habit that you have? It’s not exactly ‘weird’ but I wear uniforms for different parts of my life. On stage I always wear a white shirt buttoned up with Adidas trainers, chinos and a jacket. When I go to a party I always wear black shorts, black trainers and a black T-shirt. My uniforms put me in a state of mind, in a particular mood for whatever I’m about to do. One item that you can’t travel without? That’s easy! Wet wipes. Your favourite country to visit and why? That’s a tough one. I love travelling! I think my favourite country to visit would be a new one. A new city that I can walk around in and be completely overwhelmed by all my senses. music. My favourite country and why? The next one. What is the last thing you watched? I watched a Jordan Peterson lecture that he gave in Canada. He is an incredible thinker and lecturer. Look him Up! Your all-time favourite snack?
Organically dried figs that I buy from the market. I absolutely love them, I could eat a whole packet in one sitting. What do you look forward to most when you come home after your travels? My dog who I absolutely love, he’s like my son! The first thing I do when I get back from the airport is go and pick him up (I share him with another family when I travel).

From hitting bankruptcy after losing his 6 restaurants, to becoming a bestselling author, business strategist, trend specialist and keynote speaker who has travelled the world, we sat down with the man behind the book “What’s your Moonshot” to find out everything there is to know about his life, entrepreneurship, business and of course his new book “MAGNETiiZE”.

ohn was an entrepreneur from a very young age “I wasn’t able to do well with the leadership around me. I believe that because I came from a financially challenged family with a single mom and no real father figure, I developed this rebel without a cause mentality which was very much my life until my 20s or so”, he says. It was at this time that he began realising that he could have a cause which became making money. By the time he was in his 20s he already had a shoe and sunglass range which was distributed around South Africa, he owned half a dozen restaurants, retail stores and vending machines and his goal was to make as much money as he possibly could. “I was so focused on making money that I didn’t really add value to my businesses or follow my heart, so by the time I was in my early 30s I lost everything”, he says. John found himself having to re-adjust his reality according to not having assets, money, cars and all the things he had attached his identity too, “I spent the first few years of my 30s struggling to rediscover who I really was and by the time I was in my mid 30s I started helping businesses to not make the same mistakes that I did”. John states. Today John is a successful entrepreneur and is involved in a range of businesses that are mostly online. He has a gamification platform that helps organisations change behaviour through reward and recognition. He has a Tasha’s franchise and he is involved in a bunch of different platforms both online and offline that are mostly focused on helping humanity in some way or another, “I truly believe we can
all become the new type of billionaire, which for me, is someone who impacts a billion people’s lives positively… and makes a few billion dollars along the way”, says John.
really about becoming aware that we are in a non-stop race and offers a solution to untangle ourselves and start utilising excitement as fuel, rather than anxiousness”.
In addition to his impressive resume, John is also a bestselling author and we had to find out more about the challenges that came along with this. “I never thought that I could even write one book, and now I have two books out”, he says. John claims that for him, the most challenging part of creating a book was re-reading, fine-tuning and editing his content, “I have created a team around me that helps me bring these books into reality”.
John comes from a background of entrepreneurs and feels that entrepreneurship sits deep within his lineage “my grandfather and my mother are both entrepreneurs, always looking for solutions and ways to add value in everything they did, so I feel like it was inbred in me”.When asked how he navigates his successes and failures in order to progress in everything he does, John has one piece of advice.
John starts with the end in mind. For “What’s your Moonshot” he wanted to inform readers that they are able to think on a much larger scale and he asked the question, how big is your thinking? He started by creating a keynote which was centred around this message that then turned into a book. “It was a long process, I had a copywriter watch my keynote and help me start putting the chapters together, she would send hundreds of questions, which I answered via voice notes that were then put into sub-chapters and chapters”, John says. Essentially John created his book by speaking it. It was based on an end result that he worked backwards from.
“when you play a long game and you have audacious goals, nothing is a failure, everything is a stepping stone".
John’s newest book “MAGNETiiZE”, asks the question, how conscious is your thinking? The book focuses on an approach that will make a significant impact on the world. “I think that in today’s world everyone would benefit from reading this book. Somehow we are in a constant state of hurry and MAGNETiiZE is
"I spend very little time on perceived failures and really focus on opportunities instead. The key is knowing the difference between excellence and perfection. Everything I do is to achieve excellence while reaching my goals rather than perfection which is impossible to gain”. According to John, a successful business comes down to just two things, what makes you most excited and how much of an expert you can become on the topic you are excited about. He advises that success will grow by simply bringing excitement and expertise to whatever you want to do. In terms of leading a successful lifestyle…create a to-be list instead of a to-do this! There are many myths about where tapas originated from. Was it King Alfonso X of Castillo who could only eat and drink in small amounts while recuperating after an illness, or the 19th century King Alfoso XIII, who once ordered wine at a tavern in the windy, dusty Cadiz, which was served with a slice of ham on top to keep the dust out.

e liked it so much that he ordered the same again and, as is the norm with kings, started a trend. There are, however, more humble myths too. They say tapas started at a farmers’ bar in Seville, where beer or sherry would be served with a saucer on top to keep the flies out. They later realised that they could serve olives, ham and cheese on the same saucer, a clever move that had customers returning for more. Clearly, tapas and wine go hand in hand which makes Mooi! Tapas & Wine Bar in Pretoria so inviting. Daytime dining during the week is peaceful at Mooi!, whereas nights and weekends have a vibey atmosphere with regular live performances. It is no ordinary restaurant; it’s a well-established wine bar with some of the best tapas in town. Situated in the Olympus Village Centre on the corner of Olympus Drive and Achilles Road, Bronberg, Mooi! Tapas and Wine Bar excites the senses with a number of really impressive tapas and an extensive wine list with some of the best wines South Africa has to offer. The restaurant is uniquely decorated with bright colours, illustrations and stunning, vintage ceilings and the unique creativity spills over to the kitchen, where the food is prepared and plated in style.

Spanish tapas. There are a few a la carte items on offer, like lemon and thyme chicken breasts, line fish and the classic Mooi! burger, but the idea is to order a variety of tapas, make up your own platter and share it with a table of friends. If you can’t decide, choose from a selection of suggested platters like The Mooi! Platter, which serves four and consists of honey barbeque boneless wings, smoked snoek croquettes, pork spring rolls, lamb kofta, jalapeño poppers, mini pitas and ciabatta Slices. For Mooi! it is all about sharing. Popular tapas, according to Matilda, our waitress, are the Vietnamese sticky pork ribs, pork and mozzarella croquettes, pork spring rolls, salt and pepper calamari and haloumi spring rolls. There is also a list of interesting sides, sauces and dips to choose from – like Spanish rice, marinated feta, dips like pear and sage and blueberry barbeque, as well as an apricot, mint and chilli dressing. They say the word Mooi! describes everything South African – the people, the culture and the food. But, everything is “mooier” (prettier) when shared and what better way than with tapas and wine? A DAY
or two
IN PRETORIA The Dad edition!
And just like that, we are halfway through the year! Boom. We know this because we’re a monthly magazine and its Father’s Day on June 17th. So this one’s for him. When it comes to dad and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, it usually goes something like this: food, sport, beer and sport. So we are going back to the dad basics this month. Whether dad likes a good round of 18 holes, an ice-cold beer and a classic slap chips, then the next 24 hours will be just up his alley.
There is so much to do in P-Town. And this one’s for all the dads, so let’s map out the perfect day.
HAPPINESS IS A LONG WALK WITH A PUTTER The early morning tee-off with the first light of the day, the flawless conduct of players who take the game’s etiquette very seriously and the gratification of sinking that ball – golf is definitely a game for those who have patience, focus and can handle early mornings. So, if the idea of a 6 am tee-off puts you off, then suck it up and do it for dad. If you know your way around the course, offer to join him for 9 or 18 holes. If you have no ball skills to speak off carry his bags or tag along for the walk. We promise he will love the company.
Here are some of P-towns top courses to take dad: Waterkloof Golf Club: Near the Groenloef Nature Reserve, the Waterkloof Course is pretty spectacular. This course works for beginners as well as the more seasoned golfer. The De Kloof restaurant is an attraction on its own with its great food and extensive wine list. 5 www.waterkloofgolfclub.co.za

Pretoria Country Club: Renowned for being the quality, sports and social venue in Pretoria, the Pretoria Country Club is set in the magnificent surrounds of Waterkloof and was designed by Gary Player. Golf lessons are available and the venue hosts corporate events as well. 5 www.ptacc.co.za Hello Pretoria • June 2018 • Hellopretoria.co.za
Pebble Rock: The well-known Pebble Rock Golf Course is just 25 kilometres outside the CBD of Pretoria. It is close to the Roodeplaat Dam and next to the Sable Hills Waterfront Estate. The course really is a golfer's dream, combining perfect surrounds with rolling fairways and challenging greens. The tee boxes are the only level areas that golfers will experience on this interesting course, which is ideally suited to all handicaps. 5 www.pebblerock.co.za After playing his personal best (hold thumbs), why not take dad for a celebratory beer. Don’t act like you’re not in the mood for one too!
BEER O’ CLOCK
The Belgian Triple: Feeling devilish? Try the Lucifer beer - a strong, blond beer (8.0%) with a gold-yellow colour and creamy white head. Its fruity aroma with subtle notes of bitter hops is followed by a long and perfectly balanced finish. If that doesn’t rock dad’s world, there is an extensive selection on offer. In fact, The Belgian Triple is the home of South Africa’s largest selection of Belgian craft beer – including a unique gluten-free beer for the calorie conscious – in case dad’s watching his waist and all. Where: Olympus Village Shopping Centre. c/o Olympus Drive & Achilles Road. Faerie Glen, Pretoria East. 5 www.thebelgian.co.za African Beer Emporium: Open from Wednesdays to the weekend, ABE is a great spot for a sunny day with their outdoor seating. Lucky for you and dad, the venue is also kid-friendly (depending on who the bigger child is of course) Where: 381 Church Street 5 www.africanbeeremporium.com
Capital Craft Beer Academy: Known for their craft beers and good food, Capital Craft is also on a mission to promote the craft brewing industry in South Africa and serves as an accessible outlet for specialist brewers. Where: 381 Church Street 5 www.capitalcraft.co.za/menlopark
GREASE UP
There’s been some golf, some beer and some laughs. But before you send dad home, best you feed him! And seeing as though it’s not on mum’s watch, give him a break from chicken breasts and salad for something he really wants. If you have to get dad home in time for curfew, then try one of these quickies. Jimmy Killer Fish and Chips: It’s been a long day and you need to get dad home. Pop into Jimmy Killer Fish (a scaled down/quicktake-out version of Jimmy Killer Prawns) for a lekker and quick fish and chips order. Where: Melrose Arch crossing 5 www.jimmys-norwood.business. site Steers: You can’t go wrong with a hero steak-roll and slap chips. Dad will love you forever. Fireplace Restaurants for the Winter Chills Winter calls for red wine and fireplaces. That’s just how it is. We’ve gathered some really fine restaurants in Pretoria that offer exactly that - a cosy atmosphere, good wine and the big add-on, a fireplace to warm up your toes.
LA MADELEINE RESTAURANT MOSAIC, THE ORIENT This restaurant serves plated prettiness with awardwinning chef, Chantel Dartnall, at the steer. You’ll have to be quick with this one though, as they take an annual winter break from 18 June to 27 July 2018. This is a family driven restaurant which started out in Sunnyside and relocated to the treelined Lynnwood Ridge in 1999. Its essence is classic French and Belgian palates, originally created and executed by Chef-patron Daniel Leusch and his wife, Katrine. Words like bistronomy, cuisine de terroir and culinary authenticity describe their dedication to showcasing the beauty of timeless tastes. Chef Leusch visits each table individually, describing the delectable tastes of the day. 5 www.lamadeleine.co.za
PROSOPA At Prosopa the fireplace is the centre of attention. Elegant tables are coherently placed around the modern-looking, toe-warming centrepiece that gives an otherwise minimalistic venue a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is the hidden gem of Waterkloof Heights and treats guests to some of the best Greek dishes in Pretoria. 5 www.facebook.com/prosoparestaurant

The Milestone Hotel Lounge WHERE TO STAY: THE MILESTONE HOTEL- THE GRANDE DAME
Address: 1 Kensington Ct, Kensington, London With a reputation that is honourable and a street so clean you could very well eat off it, this experience is certainly one to be treasured. As dog walkers glide by the hotel entrance and school children giggle as their friends cycle alongside them, prepare to be greeted with a royal entrance.
were greeted with Gin and decadent slabs of Cadbury Milk chocolate. Small and intimate, the generously carpeted floors, rich furnishings and cascading curtains envelop the room. In every bathroom you’ll find Penhaligon’s products refilled and restocked on a daily basis. We had a holy-moly moment because the room was so breathtakingly beautiful. Did we mention our picturesque balcony which is ideal for an afternoon cup of tea? The only issue is we never wanted to leave.
It’s a hotel where time has stood still, it’s classic but not old-fashioned, its grand but not ostentatious, it's luxury that epitomizes the meeting of knighthood. It’s here where you will discover old world charm and meticulous interior design and quite frankly what more could you ask for when visiting the city of chivalry and culture.
This becomes regularly problematic especially when you are served afternoon tea to the room and a delightful predinner snack too. You’ll never wait for anything and before you’ve thought of asking for a top-up, its already being poured for you (served from the left of course). This hotel and its stellar staff aim to spoil each and every single guest and ensure you leave with the most memorable experience, which for us was the high tea.
You’ll arrive and be enthralled by the excitable concierge who is at your every beck and call (and don’t forget to grab a handful of Minstrels at the front desk). You will not lift a finger all throughout your stay, and as you enter the hotel room, you’ll forget to breathe. Upon arrival, we
This once in a generation kind of hotel serves a once in a lifetime high tea experience. A ritual fit for royalty. Served in Cheneston's Restaurant, the Park Lounge or the conservatory. It is a treat in more ways than one - a delicious array of delicate finger
sandwiches is accompanied by freshly baked scones served with Devonshire clotted cream and home-made preserves, as well as a selection of pastries including éclairs, tartlets, cupcakes and macaroons. Accompanied by a glass of bubbles, this tea practice showcases what the hotel does best, serving world-class quintessential English tradition on a silver platter. This should be, without a doubt at the top of your bucket list. Well-known as an affable boutique hotel, it’s no wonder it’s one of the leading hotels of the world. 5 www.milestonehotel.com
w.milestonehotel.com THE RUBENS AT THE PALACEA ROYAL AFFAIR
elegant part of the restaurant where you can sit and sip through afternoon tea at the palace lounge whilst watching the bypasse's casually stroll past Buckingham Palace. This hotel is all about location and of course the fact that your four-legged best friend can join in all the spoils. The rooms and suites are all individually designed with original art and antiques and it is family run and owned. Book the Royal King Room, which is 14 square meters in size and regally themed in honour of past British monarchs. Intricate attention and detail has been paid to every single art piece throughout the hotel and to every gingerly placed piece of cutlery. All characteristics of this hotel have been well thought out.
Start your day with breakfast at the English Grill with the poached smoked haddock and butter croissants and end off with a glass of Lanson bubbles and poached salmon with a velvety smooth hollandaise sauce. Prepare to be charmed as waiters Address: 39 Buckingham Palace Rd, serve you dressed in tailcoats. The cherry Westminster, London on top is a nightcap at The New York Bar! There isn’t a better address in the world. With an intense red colour palette that is a celebration in itself, you’ll love how cosily This is it and the actual hotel doesn’t inviting and regal the ambience is, with a disappoint either. British hospitality is Rubens signature Cocktail in hand (a mix of what you can expect at this luxurious hotel. With perfectly plumped sofas and rum, Martell VS, lime juice and cinnamon) and live jazz vibrating in the background, bold red and white lined wallpapers, you’re assured a bucket list moment. it’s a feast for the eyes. There is a rather Interesting fact: The site of the present hotel once belonged to a druggist and a ham and tongue dealer

THE MAY FAIR HOTEL- TRANSCENDING LEISURE
Address: Stratton St, Mayfair, London Upon entering this hotel, which opened in 1927, you’ll expect swank and style and that’s exactly what is delivered. A hotel that is every bit as beautiful as its first impression. It’s no wonder it is the official hotel to London Fashion Week. Staying at The May Fair allows easy access to Buckingham Palace, Bond Street’s exclusive boutiques, art galleries and Berkeley Street’s famous restaurants, the hotel is also moments from Green Park tube station. When staying at this hotel, it would be terribly remiss to not visit The Mayfair district. It’s the luxury quarter of London and a shopper’s dream. It is one of the most affluent districts in London and in the world. Mayfair has garnered a reputation as an international art hub and a historical space. Bourdon House is one of the oldest buildings, constructed between 1723–5. We fell head over heels for this hotel because it’s trendy, it’s contemporary, it’s legendary and it boasts one of the finest dining spots in town- The May Fair Kitchen.

The May Fair kitchen terrace
Your day will begin with a bountiful breakfast buffet, be prepared to have seconds.Their muesli and traditional thick Greek yoghurt will make your taste buds do the happy dance and you simply cannot stay at this hotel and not have a sundowner at the May Fair Bar.They have a stunning selection of the finest cocktails, we recommend ordering the Winter Martini, Belvedere vodka infused with marshmallow, Chambord and pineapple juice or try the Apple & Spice cocktail with Hennessy Fine de Cognac, Grand Marnier, apple, kalamansi and persimmon jam. Drooling yet? Well, wait till you tuck into their small plates. Ranging from braised celery and powdered duck to spiced pigeon, they’re all lick-your-lips fantastic. Don’t leave without ordering the brown bread ice cream with salted butter caramel and pear. Also, don’t miss the sign that reads: “On March 22nd, 1927 their Majesties The King and Queen visited the May Fair Hotel and were graciously pleased to make a tour of inspection.” So, hey if it’s fit enough for royalty it’s fit enough for us commoners, right? 5 www.themayfairhotel.co.uk
WHERE TO EAT: THE FOUR SEASONS HOTEL- LA DAME DE PIC RESTAURANT
The Four Seasons Hotel- La Dame De Pic
If you’ve followed Anne Sophie Pic’s career you might be aware that she is one of the finest chefs of the 21st century. Garnering worldwide acclaim for her beautiful dishes, displaying finesse and a genuine passion for flavour, it’s impossible to not admire her sophistication and savoir-faire. A sublime experience each and every visit, make sure this is at the top of your gourmet bucket list. Turns out, this was one of the best restaurants we have ever had the pleasure of visiting. Each mouthful is jam-packed with umami and because the restaurant is located inside The Four Seasons Ten Trinity Square historical building, it allows for a spectacular date night. With its refined elegance, five-meter-high ceilings and simplified decor the ambience is one of splendour and grace.

The restaurant hums with energy and drive. We recommend tucking into their three-course dinner. Prepare for the depth of flavor from the starter pasta parcels filled with lightly smoked Brillat-Savarin cheese, salsify Melilot and Meyer lemon consommé. Melt in your mouth orgasmic. Then for mains plan for a mouthwatering bomb of flavor from the Cornish wild Turbot flatfish accompanied by wakame seaweed. What ignited your love for the Ball? I love sustainable health and movement. Feeling healthy inside is what is important. I love how the ball is challenging and yet so good for the body. Balance is the first thing you lose when you get old. Improving your balance and reaction time will slow and prevent you from getting old and preventing unnecessary falls. That's what the ball does. The 3 foods you can’t live without? Coconut oil, raw honey, and Himalayan salt.
What does your typical, go-to workout routine consist of? My workout routine is all on the ball. I do handstands and different push-ups. I Stand on the ball on one leg and squat on two balls. I love doing explosive jumps from ball to
ball and even two balls at a time. I usually
get creative and find new ways to move for example backward rolls and front flips. These are the advance exercises I do, I train my clients from really basic levels so that it's safe and progressive for everyone. How do you stay motivated when it’s cold outside?
It's easy to skip workouts especially when it's cold. I just start moving and once I'm moving I feel warmer. Then my motivation picks up to continue. I am motivated to stick to my training to keep on progressing. What is your advice to anyone thinking of adopting a healthier lifestyle?
Not to do everything all at once. Health is a journey. Take the first step by getting a ball and just sitting on it at the office. Start to drink more water and be aware of what you are eating. Don't follow the crowd. Listen to your body and do what works for you. Start educating yourself on health and know why you want to get healthy. Your favourite snack? Homemade energy bars. Ingredients: raw honey, dates, cashews, coconut flakes, coconut oil, goji berries, berries.

Master of the exercise ball Yossi Montrose has been training for 16 years and has developed over 2000 exercises. Suffering from back, knee and shoulder pain he started training on the ball, improving not only his pain but also his strength, power balance and confidence. He travelled to the USA to showcase his incredible skills and has helped many people with the same concerns along his way. To date, he has mastered moves on the ball that no one else has been able to and he continues to focus on pushing both his clients and himself to keep getting better.
Tell us a little bit about your health and fitness philosophy. My health and fitness philosophy is that of longevity and sustainability. The ball offers a low impact way of training. It's a great way to accumulate energy while working out. No other form of training does that. I believe in eating the right foods and not cutting out food groups. Both movement and nutrition are important for long-term health. I don't believe training through pain either. Your body constantly talks to you and listening to it will pay off in the long term.
