There he honoured Vietnamese Record Holders in a grand ceremony, which is a matter of pride for the India Book of Records. Meanwhile, hundreds of climate clocks, that track global warming, were displayed at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. Environmental protection is a must for a tension-free life. Largest Elevated Rotary Junction

Indian Railways is building two world-class freight corridors, Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) and Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), to move goods between industrial heartlands in the North and ports on the Eastern and Western coasts. The WDFC was in the news recently for the Largest Elevated RCC Solid Slab Rotary Junction made by Rachana Infracon in association with Rachana Construction Co. at Valsad Road Over-bridge (ROB) in Gujarat. The unique rotary junction made its way to the India Book of Records (IBR) and Asia Book of Records (ABR) simultaneously.

The solid slab consisting of a height of 1.5 m is elevated at 9.21 m from Western Dedicated Freight Corridor Track, covering a 1547.21 sq. m area, RCC M 45 Grade Concrete of 1974 Cu.M and Steel TMT reinforcement bar of 721.47 MT, consumed 51 days since February 15, 2023. A team of 174 technical workers was engaged under the surveillance of Navinbhai Patel from Rachana Infracon and Rachana Construction Co., and Sitesh Kumar, Project Director, IRCON International Ltd.

The dedicated freight-only railway lines are being built along the four key transportation routes, known as the Golden Quadrilateral connecting Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Howrah, and its two diagonals, Delhi-Chennai and Mumbai-Howrah. Covering

a total of 10,122 km distance, these corridors carry the heaviest traffic. The route carries 52 percent of passenger traffic and 58 percent of freight traffic. Both routes are highly saturated, with line capacity utilisation reaching as high as 150 percent.

Considering increased transport demands, overtly congested routes, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with road transport, the government proposed this initiative. The freight corridors will help reduce the cost and allow faster transportation. Along with that, Indian Railways will open new avenues for investment, as this will lead to the construction of industrial corridors and logistic parks along these routes.

The record for the Largest Elevated RCC Solid Slab Rotary Junction was set by Rachana Infracon in association with Rachana Construction Company at Valsad ROB, Gujarat. A team of 174 persons was engaged in the project.

Meanwhile, the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) completed the reconstruction work of the Valsad road over-bridge (ROB) on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor in a record time of 20 days. The work on the Western DFC’s Vaitarana-Sachin section witnessed a bottleneck of crossing the road over-bridge near Valsad town in Gujarat, according to the Railway Ministry.

The Western corridor connecting Dadri in Uttar Pradesh to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) in Mumbai will pass through Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra of Eastern DFC and Western DFC. The 306 km long Rewari-Madar section of the Western DFC was dedicated to the country on January 7, 2021. The trial run of the 369 km freight corridor between New Palanpur to New Kishangarh was also conducted by railway authorities. The operation control center (OCC) for the DFC project is situated at Prayagraj. The speeds attained by freight trains on the DFC tracks are comparable to any of the fastest mail express trains on the network.

IRCON has widespread operations in several states in India and in other countries including Malaysia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, the UK, Algeria, and Sri Lanka.

The presidents of two world record organizations - the World Records Union (WorldKings) and the World Records Association (WRA) reached Vietnam to attend the 52nd Meeting of Vietnamese Record Holders held in Ho Chi Minh City recently. The program took place with many activities under the common goal of ‘Together with the community of Vietnamese record holders’ to promote trade and sales globally and honour the record holders. The World Records Union Council officially awarded the Certificates of Commendation to senior leaders of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Record Association and the Vietnam Record Organization for the development of WorldKings’ Global Records.

The glittering ceremony was organized on May 20, 2023, under the aegis of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Records Association and the Vietnam Records Organization. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Professor, Academician Hoang Quang Thuan, Chairman of the Founding Council of the Vietnam Record Organization beat the drum to kick-start the record festival. The Vietkings has set 2980 Vietnamese records so far

in all fields in 63 provinces and cities. Out of this, there are 1032 individual records and 1948 records of units, organizations and enterprises. The nominations successfully established 85 world records and 106 Asian records.

Dr. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, President of World Records Union (WorldKings) and Editor-in-Chief, India Book of Records (IBR), was the special guest from India, who presented certificates of commendation to the dignitaries. Addressing the gala event, Dr. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury said, “I am privileged to be a part of this illuminating felicitation ceremony. This is really a memorable occasion for the community. I congratulate the Council of World Records Union (WorldKings) for recognizing the extraordinary performers from among the Vietnam Record Association and VietKings.”

Ba Vang Pagoda sets two World Records

The Great Buddha’s Birthday 2023 was celebrated on May 21, 2023, at the Ba Vang Pagoda. The world’s largest mountain lecture hall was inaugurated on the occasion. Thus the lecture hall on the mountain of Ba Vang Pagoda (Uong Bi City, Quang Ninh) set two world records together at the same time. Thousands of people and Buddhists from all around the world took part in the inaugural function.

On this occasion, the World Records Union (WorldKings) officially recognized the world record set by the Ba Vang Pagoda for having three Golden Temples with a double storey Buddha lecture hall located on the mountain. In addition to this, the World Record Association also officially recognized the Ba Vang Pagoda as the temple with the largest Buddhist lecture hall on the mountain with two floors having the largest area in the world.

offering incense sticks, offering water to bathe Lord Buddha, taking out a parade with flowers to celebrate the birthday, and dancing on the floor as a mark of happiness.

The lecture hall on the mountain is beautifully decorated with intricate art work and unique designs. The hall can accommodate around 15,000 people at once. Its construction began in the year 2016, with the aim of providing a large sitting place for the Buddhists. Here they can listen to Buddhist scriptures and organize important ceremonies at the temple. The art work shows harmony with the world’s Buddhist cultural architecture. At the same time, it is a place where tourists from all over the world can come and worship in large groups.

60,000 Buddhists, people from Vietnam and abroad joined the Grand Vesak Celebration to commemorate the birthday of Lord Buddha at the Ba Vang Pagoda.

Thousands of people and devoted Buddhists came together to celebrate the Great Buddha’s Birthday and got to experience its profound serenity.

The monumental masterpiece, known as the “Three Golden Temple,” got the first World record and the second record was for World’s largest mountain lecture hall.

Making the Dat Viet Pottery

Dr. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, President of World Records Union (WorldKings), and the delegates of the 52nd Meeting of Vietnamese Record Holders went to see the process of ceramic tiles making at the Gom Dat Viet plant of Dat Viet Ceramic Group, in Quang Ninh province of Vietnam recently. The Gom Dat Viet ceramic company has set various records in the past.

Dat Viet Pottery is a line of high-class baked clay products manufactured by Dat Viet Pottery Joint Stock Company and Dat Viet Brick and Tile Joint Stock Company, headquartered in Trang An, Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province of Vietnam.

Dr. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, Editor-in-Chief, India Book of Records, said, “It was a great experience to observe the manufacturing process of ceramic tiles and pottery. Om chanting for positive vibration

Om is the most powerful mantra. It’s not just the sound, but the vibrations that impact the mind, body, and soul, making way for a happy, blissful, and calm state. Om is an ancient, sacred word from the eastern spiritual traditions of Yoga, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Only at higher frequencies can we learn to let go of desires and be happy with nature. In today’s materialistic world, it is so easy to get caught up in stress, fear, anxiety, worry, etc. that staying blissful becomes a challenge. Om chanting benefits us by rising above these negative thoughts and feelings to recognise one’s true self and stay happy.

MV Sivakumar Reddy from Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh told the India Book of Records magazine, “Being a state government

employee, I want to give back to the society, so I keep serving in different ways. Om chanting is my regular practice under Yoga. Om is the highest positive vibration. It is a universal syllable, and it is cosmic energy. As per Vedas, the whole universe was created by the sound Om (Aum). Chanting Om raises the vibrations of an individual, not just in the body but in the overall consciousness of one’s soul and mind. Chanting Om allows you to align with the whole. That is why I thought of conducting a group chanting of Om.”

cleanliness. Apart from Nandyal, people from surrounding areas are also connected to the organisation. Adjudicator of India Book of Records, Dr. Vasudha Rani was present at the event, held on April 4, 2023, at Sri Pradhama Nandeeswara Temple Ground, Nandyal, where 64,000 devotees chanted a single word ‘Om’ 21 times together. Dr. Vasudha declared the record and handed over the certificate and a medal to the organisers. Reddy said that a large number of people were invited for the mass chanting. It was a big challenge for the organisers to maintain peace in the midst of such a large crowd. Barricades were placed at the entry and exit gates of the temple to avoid

crowding at the time of movement of people. A medical help setup with ambulance vans, 30 doctors, and 70 nursing staff was kept ready to meet any kind of emergency. However, everything settled peacefully and the organisation’s name entered the India Book of Records.

Two days of training was imparted to 2000 devotees before the main event. This practice session helped in the smooth conduct of the event. Comfortable seating arrangements were made for all. Along with this, refreshments and other necessary arrangements were also made. At the request of the organisers, the police department also contributed in handling the crowd.

Longest survivor of Laryngeal cancer

The desire to live and a disciplined routine helped Vir Singh Ramrikh Yadav, survive laryngeal cancer for more than six decades without taking any medicine or medical treatment. “Organise a race for people of my age, I will be the first,” Singh said in his faint voice at a felicitation event organised for him in Bundi city of Rajasthan, where he was recognised by the India Book of Records as the longest survivor of laryngeal cancer. Born on January 1, 1930, he is the longest survivor of Laryngeal cancer with great willpower and a disciplined lifestyle, at the age of 93 years.

Yadav, a resident of Bundi, Rajasthan, and a native of Kosli village in Rewari district of Haryana, was diagnosed with Laryngeal cancer at the age of 33 years. Laryngeal cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the larynx -- a part of the throat, between the base of the tongue and the trachea. The larynx contains the vocal cords, which vibrate and make a sound when air is directed against them. The sound echoes through the pharynx, mouth, and nose to make a person’s voice.

He underwent the Laryngectomy (surgery for treating cancer) on June 18, 1963, at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. He lost his voice after the surgery and also the ability to smell. He was able to breathe through his throat only after a tracheotomy procedure. He regularly visited the Tata Memorial Hospital for

about 20 years after the surgery, but when doctors examined him in June 2002, they were surprised that he had been surviving without medicines.

What he did not lose was the zest to live. Singh set up a dairy business to earn for his family consisting of his wife and four children, and battled through life with a strict disciplined lifestyle. He still wakes up at 4 am, takes a walk for 6-7 kilometers, followed by a simple but nutritious breakfast at 8 am and then two chapatis, mashed into a liquid, for lunch and dinner. He retires to bed at 10 pm every night. Yadav also succeeded in regaining a bit of his voice, which enabled him to communicate with his family members. An hour’s gossip with them at dinner time is still an essential part of his routine.

“Vir Singh Yadav is certainly an inspiration for cancer patients as he has lived for over 60 years after the surgery with his strong willpower and discipline, without any medicine,” said Dr. L N Meena of Bundi District Hospital, adding that lifestyle and willpower play a major role in curing serious diseases. The felicitation programme was attended by local MLA Ashok Dogra, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) vice president Harimohan Sharma, Bundi SP Jai Yadav, and several dignitaries from the area. Dr. Raja Mukeem, associated with HIIMS (Hospital & Institute of Integrated Medical Sciences), honoured Yadav by handing over the IBR certificate and a medal.

2100 varieties of Virgin Mojito Made & Displayed

It was a spectacular sight, with tables lined up under 6-7 pandals with students adorning glasses of their own specially prepared refreshing Virgin Mojito recipes. Basically, it was prepared by mixing lemon and soda in chilled water. Many ingredients like mint, ginger, etc. were also added to it for taste and variety. The event was an example of just how many variations are possible to create a refreshing mix of Virgin Mojito. The hotel management students of GNA University, Phagwara, Punjab had prepared not 10, not 50, but over 2100 types of Virgin Mojitos. Seeing all this was a wonderful experience in itself. Dr. Sanjeev Sood, Adjudicator of Asia Book of Records, verified the claim and after declaring the record, handed over the certificate and medal to the organisers.

Dheeraj Pathak, Head of Department, School of Hospitality, GNAU, Phagwara, said, “In Mexican it is pronounced ‘Mohito’. We call it Virgin Mojito, as it does not contain alcohol, which means it is a delicious and cool soft drink that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. The old record was for 300 varieties of Virgin Mojito, while our students have set a new record by preparing 2100 varieties of Virgin Mojito within 45 minutes. Getting a place in the Asia Book of Records is a great honour for our department and the University.”

of Hospitality were formed to execute the activity. Other students were also deputed to assist the teams. The students had to prepare for six months for this event. All the teams had chosen one or the other theme. Some made mint the main ingredient in their Mojito glasses, some ginger, some turmeric, or lychee syrup. They created a variety of combinations with dry fruits, chili flakes, turmeric, mint, lemon, berries, dragon fruit, spices, etc. They all had slightly different tastes and each had some specialty. The faculty members also supported the teams in preparing and displaying the staggering 2100 varieties of Virgin Mojito at the Phagwara campus of the university on April 20, 2023.”

Mojito is the traditional Cuban punch that is served in summer. Its combination of sweetness, citrus, and herbaceous mint flavours is intended to complement its refreshing taste. When preparing a Mojito, fresh lime juice is added to sugar (or simple syrup) and mint leaves. The mixture is then gently mashed with a muddler. The mint leaves are bruised to release the essential oils. The mixture is briefly stirred to dissolve the sugar and to lift the mint leaves up from the bottom for better presentation. Finally, the drink is topped with crushed ice and sparkling soda water. Mint leaves and lime wedges are used to garnish the glass.

Havana, Cuba, is considered to be the birthplace of the Mojito, although its exact origin is a subject of debate. It was known that the local South American Indians had remedies for various tropical illnesses, so a small boarding party went ashore in Cuba and came back with ingredients for effective medicine. It is interesting to know that Mojito was a favourite drink of author Ernest Hemingway.

Non-stop chanting of Hanuman Chalisa

Lord Hanuman, one of the protagonists of the Ramayana, is widely known for his unflinching devotion and is revered as a symbol of strength and energy. His birthday is celebrated as Hanuman Jayanti or Hanuman Janmotsava. The celebration of Hanuman Jayanti varies by time and tradition in each state of India. In most northern states, the festival is observed on the full-moon day of the Hindu month of Chaitra (Chaitra Purnima), but in Karnataka, Hanuman Jayanti is observed on Shukla Paksha Trayodashi, during the Margashirsha month or in Vaishakha.

A small group of devotees from the Prestige Tranquility housing society in Bengaluru, Karnataka, set the record for the longest marathon chanting of Hanuman Chalisa verses one after the other for the longest duration of 24 hours, starting at 12.30 pm on April 6, 2023, and ending at 12.33 pm on April 7, 2023, on the occasion of Hanuman Janmotsava. The attempt made its way to the India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records simultaneously.

The chanting started on Friday and went on till Saturday night. The team started with Kalash Yatra in which more than 200 women participated enthusiastically. After the Akhand Hanuman Chalisa, there were cultural performances on Hanuman’s life. The residents of Prestige Tranquility (near Budigere Cross off Old Madras Road) supported the non-stop chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa verses for 24 hours.

Jitesh Tibrewal, leader of the chanting group, told the India Book of Records magazine that seven of the group

members were from an Information Technology background, while one was from the finance profession. All the devotees had only water and buttermilk in between. “We started planning for the event in January this year. The first challenge was that each of us would sing in a different tone. Soon, we synchronized and started practicing initially for two hours, then four and later eight.”

The record for the longest marathon chanting of Hanuman Chalisa was set by a group of people from Bengaluru. A total of 8 members of the group gathered together and chanted the verses of Hanuman Chalisa one after the other.

“The reason behind such a wonderful Hanuman Janmotsava was to create awareness for Sanatana Dharma and awareness of Hindu culture. It was sheer hard work for all the members of the group. We used to come back from the offices at 11 pm and start practicing at 11.30 pm, which would go on till late at night. Normally too, I am a devotee of Hanuman ji and I read Hanuman Chalisa on a regular basis. The other members also follow a similar routine, especially on Tuesday,” said Jitesh.

Before starting the chanting the devotees applied a tilak of sinduram to their foreheads from Hanuman’s murti. According to a legend, when Hanuman ji found Sita applying sinduram to her forehead, he enquired about this custom. She replied that doing so would ensure a long life for her husband, Rama. Hanuman then proceeded to smear his entire body with sinduram, thus ensuring Rama’s immortality.

Vibrations that heal mind and body

Tibetan singing bowls, also known as singing bowls or Himalayan bowls are said to promote relaxation and offer powerful healing properties including relief from stress. A Tibetan singing bowl is a type of bowl that vibrates and produces a rich, deep tone when played gently. Buddhist monks have long used Tibetan singing bowls in their routine meditation practices. These bowls can be seen placed near Buddha in Buddhist monasteries and temples. In addition, some wellness practitioners, including music therapists, massage therapists, and yoga therapists, use Tibetan singing bowls during treatment. Dr. M V Priyank from Bengaluru has set two Asia Book of Records for distributing a maximum number of Tibetan singing bowls and for training a maximum number of people in a sound healing programme using Tibetan singing bowls. The three-day sound healing training programme was held at Welcome ITC Hotel in Bengaluru, Karnataka, from April 7, 2023, to April 9, 2023. A total of 119 participants gathered together and attended the sound healing boot camp, where they were taught about how to perform healing for various aspects of

life including physical, mental, emotional, relationships, and financial problems using singing bowls. A total of 234 singing bowls were distributed to the participants. Both the numbers were exclusive; therefore the two records got recognised by the Asia Book of Records.

Dr. M V Priyank, an abundance and wellness coach, has been into meditation and healing practices for the past 24 years. Dr. M V Priyank created a record for the maximum number of people participating in a sound healing training programme using Tibetan or Himalayan Singing bowls, wherein 119 participants gathered in Bengaluru to attend the sessions.

The magical singing bowls

Atotal of 234 singing bowls were distributed to the participants at the boot camp held at the Welcome ITC Hotel, Bengaluru, on April 7-9, 2023, under the supervision of famous abundance and wellness coach, Dr. M V Priyank. The participants were exposed to the benefits of singing bowls and sound healing, which reduces stress and stimulates the immune system. Even research supports the use of Tibetan singing bowls as a way to promote relaxation and reduce feelings of anxiety. Because singing bowl therapy has been linked to decreased anxiety and tension, it is helpful in improving sleep also. The Tibetan bowls are generally forged with alloys that

usually contain from five to seven precious metals, which are connected to the celestial bodies of our galaxy, i.e. lead (Saturn), tin (Jupiter), iron (Mars), copper (Venus), mercury (Mercury), silver (the Moon) and gold (the Sun).

During the training sessions, the participants were asked to lie down on the floor, while the bowls of different shapes and sizes were placed in different configurations around their heads. Once positioned, the practitioner used mallets to strike the bowls in a sequence in order to produce sounds and vibrations. With their eyes closed, the participants remained in a meditative state. Training the participants at the camp,

Dr. Priyank instructed, “Firmly press the accompanying mallet in a circular motion against the bowl’s outside rim. When you hear a bright, clear tone, you can slow down the motion. Use your full arm to make the motion, rather than just rotating your wrist. You can also make the same circular motion against the outside belly of the bowl. Additionally, you can gently strike the bowl before beginning the circular motion.”

It was told that the vibrations of the bowls affect the mind and body. The sounds the bowls create may impact brain waves in order to induce relaxation. They may induce the same psychological effects and benefits as listening to music. The benefits of listening to the bowls may be related to the ancient practice of sound therapy. Often used by indigenous cultures throughout the world, sound therapy involves pulsing sounds, clapping, drumming, and singing for ceremonial, spiritual, and health purposes.

As far as the history of Tibetan Singing Bowls is concerned, there is some evidence that it may have originated in China sometime around the 16th century BC. Traditional bowls were made of a variety of metals including mercury, lead, silver, iron, gold, and copper. During the 1970s, people began importing bowls in North America and Europe. They grew in popularity in the 1990s as a complementary and alternative treatment for a variety of ailments. Participants at the Bengaluru boot camp expressed their joy and satisfaction after using the bowls, saying they ‘felt relaxed’ after the sound session.

The sound healing programme of Dr. M V Priyaank set another record for maximum Tibetan/Himalayan singing bowls distribution. A total of 234 singing bowls were used by participants at the Welcome ITC Hotel in Bengaluru.

A preliminary study published in the American Journal of Health Promotion in 2014 examined the benefits of starting a directed relaxation session with 12 minutes of singing bowl sounds. It found a greater reduction in systolic blood pressure and heart rate compared to silence before the session. One study linked singing bowl therapy to improvements in mood and suggested that this approach may be a low-cost way to help reduce symptoms of depression.

Folk paintings on canvas bags

The Indian folk arts are an essential part of the nation’s culture and identity because they are directly connected with the spiritual nature of people’s lives. The art forms are not only practiced by rural folk but also enjoyed by city dwellers. On World Art Day (April 15, 2023), Dayanand College of Ajmer, Rajasthan got its name registered in the Asia Book of Records for celebrating the folk arts. The drawing and painting department of the college achieved this feat by painting the maximum number of canvas bags on various folk arts of the country in a single day.

Chauhan, and artists Poonam Pandey and Basant Kumar Sethi. Ajmer South Zone MLA Anita Bhadel also graced the programme as the chief guest. The painting activity to set the record started at 9 am when a group of 20 students and teachers of the drawing and painting department got involved in this attempt. Their aim was to make 400 paintings in a single day, but the work was completed by 2 pm only and one extra image was created, making a total of 401 art pieces.

As soon as the task was completed, Preeti Lohia, Adjudicator of Asia Book of Records declared the record. She then presented the ABR certificate and a medal to Dr. Laxmikant, Principal of Dayanand College, Ajmer.

MLA Anita Bhadel congratulated the artists and the college administration for this achievement. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Kavita Sharma. Earlier also, the college had set another record for creating the world’s largest painting on the occasion of World Art Day. This was done to create awareness around the Covid-19 pandemic. The day is celebrated

worldwide to honour the contributions of artists and promote the importance of art in our lives. First observed in 2012, World Art Day was celebrated to commemorate the renowned artist Leonardo Da Vinci, famous for his incredible artistic work Mona Lisa.

Dayanand College, Ajmer owes its existence neither to the zeal of an educationist nor to that of a social reformer. It has arisen like the fabled Pheonix from the ashes of a blossoming flower Swami Dayanand Saraswati. Swamiji was consigned to Panchtatva on October 31, 1883, while his soul became a moving spirit for those who followed in his footsteps. It was in the year 1888 when Pt Jiyalal thought of setting up a school for imparting value-based education. In due course of time, the continued efforts of Pt Jiyalal and later of Prof D Vable transformed that little school into a leading college. Their efforts have now become the folklore of the region. No wonder vying with DAV College of Lahore, which closed down decades ago, the present Dayanand College, Ajmer is the oldest DAV institution in the country. Over the years this college has developed into a Centre for Excellence in the field of Research and Consultancy.

This was the appeal made on social media platforms before the world’s biggest assembly and display of climate clocks took place at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. The activity was undertaken to commemorate ‘Earth Day’ on April 22, 2023. History was created when a total of 559 Climate Clocks were assembled and showcased by the participants in the age group of 10-50 years. Many more participants joined virtually from across the country to display their individual Climate Clocks. This was the highest number of Climate Clocks assembled and displayed at multiple venues in a single day. It set a world record

and the event found a glorious mention in the prestigious Asia Book of Records along with the India Book of Records as well.

The event was spearheaded by Energy Swaraj Foundation (ESF) in association with the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, and the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). A total of 7,000 brains and 3,000 organisations from all walks of society participated in the event, laying the foundation for change and promoting climate change mitigation among the common people. The stadium was filled with climate enthusiasts and conscious individuals who pledged to take action for climate correction. The event received participation not just from within India, but also from people outside the country.

The assembly of clocks began after a lecture by Prof Chetan Singh Solanki, founder of the Energy Swaraj Foundation, who spoke about understanding climate change and limiting the use of energy through the AMG (Avoid, Minimize, and Generate) principle. The event was aimed at creating awareness about the rising temperature and mitigating climate change issues. Guests of honour, including Prof (Dr) TG Sitharam, Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education, and Dr. Chintan Vaisnav, Mission Director of NITI Aayog Atal Innovation Mission, Dr. G Mahesh, Chief Scientist &Head, DG Executive, Directorate at CSIR also graced the occasion.

Prof Chetan Singh Solanki, a Professor from IIT Bombay, Brand Ambassador of Solar Energy for Govt of Madhya Pradesh, and Founder of the Energy Swaraj Foundation, has been popularly referred to as the ‘Solar Man of India’ by the mainline media. The Magic of Djembe Drums

Pune-based MIT World Peace University’s Innovation Hub celebrated its annual five-day innovation conclave, RIDE2022, a student-driven activity held on September 20-24, 2022, to host minds who believed in expanding horizons beyond the purview of prosaic opportunities and opening the pathway for students towards entrepreneurship. RIDE-2022 had its themes spread across the four pillars namely, research, innovation, design, and entrepreneurship (RIDE) followed by Start-up Accelerator and Innovation Hub at MIT-WPU. The conclave attracted several thousand visitors across five days with various start-ups and speakers along with more than 50 experts from the venture capital industry.

Each day encompassed subject matter experts who addressed students around the aforesaid themes to obtain a unique outlook and encourage out-of-the-box thinking by simulating a real-world environment. The event focused on start-ups across sectors like technology, design, healthcare, agritech, sustainable energy, and retail. The event also made headlines for setting a record for the maximum number of students playing Djembe Drums together and thus getting into the prestigious pages of the India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records simultaneously.

A total of 1253 students of the university gathered together and played the Djembe Drums under the guidance of drumming expert Amrutt Bhatt from 6 pm to 8 pm on September 21, 2022, at the MIT World Peace University Campus in Pune. The old record was for 1197 people playing Djembe together, but through this event, the university broke it when 1253 students played the instrument together at the university arena.

RIDE-2022 kick-started by introducing various start-ups in its Start-Up Expo followed by experts talking about their experiences in expert talks, numerous recreational activities such as zorbing, F1 simulation, and concluded with a Comedy and Pro Night. The record-setting activity of playing the Djembe Drums turned out to be the most interesting and rewarding experience for the students and the faculty as well. Djembe is a drum played with bare hands. Amrutt Bhatt, who guided the students, is a drum facilitator, a TEDx speaker, an experiential trainer, a game show host, and a mentalist. He filled the campus with energy, fun and enthusiasm.

Cultural shows on a TEDx platform

Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found its words. Poetry is the lifeblood of rebellion, revolution, and the raising of consciousness. Malaika David, an Educator at Euro School Kharadi and a TEDx Speaker of repute made the most of the TEDx Youth @ Euro School Kharadi platform to convey her thoughts through a poem written by her. It was the second edition of TEDx Youth, where 67 girls presented different cultural programmes for a total of 16.36 minutes duration, however there were 15 other speakers too who spoke on separate issues at the event, which started at 10 am and continued till 5 pm.

The event was held at the Euro School Kharadi Auditorium, on February 18, 2023. The students of Mount Carmel School and Euro School Kharadi, along with the Euro School staff, participated in various programmes. They belonged to the age group of 8 to 46 years.

Speech marathon for environmental care

Human existence is quite impossible without the presence of a healthy ecosystem. Our environment comprises all living and non-living components and their interactions within a natural habitat. Environmental conservation has become one of the core issues that need to be addressed to battle climate change and global warming. Sustainable development is the need of the hour that can save the mother Earth from the repercussions of industrialisation. In an attempt to elaborate upon environmental conservation, its needs, and ways of conserving the environment, the Rotary Club of Mehsana, Gujarat, organised a speech marathon, which ultimately established its place in the Asia Book of Records.

The record was set for ‘maximum speakers participating in a speech marathon about environmental conservation’ and the event took place at Rotary Bhawan, Mehsana on April 16, 2023. A total of 317 participants of 6 to 84 years of age spoke on the theme of environment and its conservation for 2-3 minutes each in Gujarati, Hindi, and English languages. The

activity was aimed at creating awareness around environmental issues, finding solutions to various ecological problems, and encouraging people to take remedial steps in day-to-day life. The speech marathon commenced at 7 am and continued till 10 pm.

The Rotary Club of Mehsana has been serving the town through various activities for the last 62 years. This year the club thought of focusing on environmental awareness and setting a record under the Asia Book of Records by holding a mega speech marathon. Originally the idea was to engage 350 speakers of all age groups ranging from 6 to 84 years. But, only 317 speakers could be accommodated in the event which continued non-stop for over 15 hours. The topics touched upon by the speakers ranged from a spectrum of environmental issues such as water conservation, climate change, water scarcity, the importance of afforestation, noise pollution, air pollution, the benefits of solar power, the benefits of organic

farming, etc. All the speakers were given a certificate of participation by the Rotary Club of Mehsana.

The event highlighted the issues which are taking a heavy toll on human lives. Ranging from overpopulation, hydrological issues, ozone depletion, and global warming to the desertification of agricultural land, all these issues pose a severe threat to the existence of humankind. Unless environmental conservation is becoming an effective mass movement, it is futile to expect positive growth, especially in the age of digital media which holds the potential to bring a revolution to save our planet from destruction.

The Longest Hoarding in India is installed at Kamshet on Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The hoarding measuring 350 feet in height and 50 feet in width can be seen by travellers going from Pune to Mumbai. The visibility of this site is almost two kilometers. This hoarding has created a record under the India Book of Records and the credit goes to Glenn Pais of Mumbai, Maharashtra, the owner of Clauderricks Enterprises. He installed the eye-catching billboard of the brand Ganger Eyenation to make it apart and memorable.

Saving lives drop by drop

The blood donation camps held on the birthday of Rajendra Rathore, the Leader of Opposition in the Government of Rajasthan, have been included in the India Book of Records (IBR) for setting a new record for the ‘maximum number of people donating blood in a week’. Blood donation week was celebrated from April 17-21, 2023. The birthday was marked as the ‘Manav Seva Saptah’ (Human Service Week), wherein a total of 69,147 units of blood was collected through 400 blood donation camps held in the states of Rajasthan and Gujarat. Rathore started holding blood donation camps in 1993. A total of 45,000 units of

blood was collected through various camps on his birthday last year. Before that, 25,000 units of blood was collected in 2012 at these camps.

“During my tenure as the Health Minister of Rajasthan, I had donated blood to an unknown poor person belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC). Actually, I was on a tour, when I saw a message in a group on my mobile phone that someone was in urgent need of blood. More inquiry revealed that the patient required the ‘O Positive’ blood, which is my blood group as well.

Immediately I offered my blood, which saved the poor man’s life. I instructed the doctors to not disclose this incident to anyone. After that, I started donating blood at every opportunity which came my way and held several blood donation camps too. When my followers learned about this aspect, they started celebrating my birthday like this.” Said Rathore.

The blood donation camps were held at 400 locations, spread in different districts of Rajasthan and a few places in Gujarat also, including Jaipur, Ajmer, Alwar, Barmer, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Dhaulpur, Jalore, Jhunjhnu, Jodhpur, Seekar, Nagaur, Sirohi, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Bikaner, Kota, Pali, Tonk, Dungarpur, Banswada, Udaipur, Rajsamand, Jaisalmer, Churu, Surat, Vadodara, and many more. The youngest TEDx speaker

Advait Kolarkar, an art prodigy from Pune, Maharashtra, became the youngest Indian to deliver a TEDx talk at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Dwarka, New Delhi, in November 2022, at the age of 8 years, 9 months and 27 days. He mostly spoke about the importance of creativity and freedom to explore the world. The talented boy has earned a proud mention in the India Book of Records and Asia Book of Records for this feat. He is also known for being the youngest professional painter in the world. His message to the world was simple:

“Anyone can develop the power of creativity. You don’t need to grow up to do something big. Keep the child in you alive!”

The child’s TEDx talk revolved around creativity, passion and most importantly the relentless belief in oneself. Not only did he tell us how important it is to nurture creativity, he also shed light on how parents can help a child grow into his/her interests rather than growing into a ‘mould’ of their choice. The record for being the youngest TEDx speaker was set by Advait Kolarkar of Pune, Maharashtra. An eight-year-old prodigy, he became the youngest to deliver a TEDx talk in Nov 2022 at Indraprastha University, Delhi.

Delhi, won hearts by leaving hope, happiness, and a sense of ambition. He embodies the adage -- age is just a number. The child, who started painting the floor with food colours at the age of 8 months, is now a prolific artist, and the winner of the Global Child Prodigy Award (2020). By taking the art world by storm with a radiant show in the USA, a solo art show in London and holding an exhibition in New York, he has organised a significant show in Italy and at the London Art Biennale, New York’s Art Expo, a solo stint in Canada and India. His artwork was painted by a robot on a car and his work was featured at Walt Disney’s largest digital destination ‘Reimagine Tomorrow’.

He held his art exhibition ‘Alluring Illusions’ in May 2022 at the Gagliardi Gallery in London.

Remembering the initial days, his mother, Shruti Kolarkar said, “I could not believe that a one-year-old baby was creating mesmerising art. That was the moment I realised he had something special and I need to nurture that. When he got to brush, canvas and colours, he never stopped. His passion is still the same.”

The world expects a lot more from this child prodigy in the coming time. He has a clear-cut picture of the future in his mind, “I will be a painter for my entire life. I also want to be a Palaeontologist (one who studies fossils), an inventor and an author.” You will be surprised to know that while his artwork is known for its vibrant shades of bright colours, his favourite colour is black. He says, “Black is my favourite colour. If you mix all the colours, you will get black. So, I felt like I was already using all the colours.”

Gully Cricket with a social cause

A‘Gully Cricket’, organised by the Union Territory Cricket Association (UTCA, affiliated to BCCI) and the Chandigarh Police, in the month of April 2023 set the record for the maximum number of teams participating in a T-10 cricket tournament. The tournament was aimed at promoting the social cause of creating awareness against the drug menace. The slogan of ‘Balla Ghumaao Nasha Bhagaao’ was to deter drug use by youth in the region. The UTCA and Chandigarh Police gained entry into the India Book of Records through this sporting event.

There were 204 teams of 14-18 year old local youth playing in the ‘Gully Cricket’ tournament playoffs, which started on April 6, 2023 and ended on April 23, 2023. Around 2,500 budding cricketers from 204 teams participated in the championship played on 10 different playgrounds, including Punjab University’s

law ground, Punjab Engineering College’s ground, College of Architecture’s ground, DAV School, Sector 8, Police Lines, Sector 26, and government schools in sectors 32, 40, 19, 35 and 26.

The T-10 cricket tournament was inaugurated at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium and the final match was also played at the same venue. The closing ceremony was attended by DGP Praveer Ranjan, officials of the Police Department and the Chandigarh Administration, MC Commissioner Anindita Mitra, and UTCA president Sanjay Tandon. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 51,000, and the runner-up team was given a prize of Rs 31,000. Two semi-finalists were also awarded a prize of Rs 11,000 each.

The record for releasing maximum Granth on Jainism in a single day was set by Acharya Suvidhisagar Maharaj. He is the third Pattadhish of Param Poojya Charitra-Chakravarti, Acharyshri Aadisagar Maharaj, and Pattadhar of SiddhantChakravarti, Acharyashri Sanmatisagar Maharaj. He has written and translated 150 books related to Jainism, which were released in front of the gathered populace as well as virtually at Shree Kshetra Arihanthgiri Jain Math in Tirumalai, Tamil Nadu on April 30, 2023. “When I was in 8th standard, I visited a cinema hall for the first time to watch Bombaier Bombete, a Satyajit Ray film at Jaya Cinema in Laketown. Only black and white TV was found at that time. Friday and Saturday used to be very exciting days for us as Hindi movies were screened at night. To add colours to my viewing, I started frequenting local theaters like Arati, Binodini, and Sukhada Cinema to name a few. After the 10th class, I started exploring more theaters with my friends and sometimes alone. Since day one, I was keeping the counterpart of the colourful movie tickets of every hall I visited. Now, after 20 years, this collection has become very precious and worth keeping,” said Debanjan.

Apencil is a common tool used by every student during the time of studies in school and college. It is one item that has not changed much in the last many decades. However, the use of lead rods inside the wooden pencil is considered harmful to children. Waste is also generated while sharpening a pencil. Chewing a pencil can also prove harmful to a child’s health. Keeping these drawbacks in mind, researchers at the Karnavati University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat developed a sustainable and environment-friendly pencil, which is handmade and the main ingredient is paper mache, made out of waste papers. The design of the pencil has been applied for a patent. The university has developed many other concepts and products too. Indeed, there were 295 Intellectual Property applications filed by the university in a single day on April 26, 2023. All the applications were filled out on an online official website of

Later his play school also came up with a similar observation. On days when there was no practice in the sea, Lakshay would be taken to a pool with a lesson plan prepared by the coaches. Eswari Andiappan, an endurance athlete working closely with Lakshay for over a year, had worked out a diet plan.
