Honeydew is in season usually between June and October, depending on where a person lives. It can be a little tricky to tell if a honeydew is ripe or not. The color of the rind should be yellow and the bottom of the melon should be a little soft to the touch. Store honeydew melons at room temperature for up to 2 days to ripen them or place them in a closed paper bag, when they are ripe, they can last in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks. Honeydew can be cut into cubes and frozen for smoothies or the cubes can be pureed and made into frozen treats.
