AN INSIDER'S TOUR OF A CITY RISEN FROM THE ASHES

Ask most people about MedellĂn, Colombia and their response will reflect stories from several decades ago, during much darker times. Those who visit this Euro-chic, cosmopolitan city today have a hard time imagining those tales of drugs, danger and decline. Today's MedellĂn has overcome its past, pulled itself up by its bootstraps and reinvented itself as a safe, beautiful and thriving world-class community.

L

eaving most international airports, you are immediately thrust into chaotic, bumper-to-bumper traffic, honking horns, pollution and angry drivers. When you drive away from Medellín's José Maria Córdova Aeropuerto Internacional, your experience is completely different. The winding road carries you past woods and pastures, small shopping venues, restaurants and residential areas. Suddenly, you get a peek of the valley emerging through the trees. You admire the aesthetic theme of red brick buildings enveloped by emerald green parks and creeks dotting the neighborhoods. For a city of three and a half million people, it feels calm and welcoming. Once you have settled into the valley, it's time to explore.

Wall Street Journal, named Medellín 'The Most Innovative City in the World' because of the state-of-the-art transit system THE BEST WAY TO GET AROUND The Metro system is the easiest, cleanest and most cost-effective way to discover the city. Medellín is the only city in Colombia with a first-world transportation system of this caliber. In 2013, the Wall Street Journal, in conjunction with the City and the Urban Land Institute named Medellín the world's most innovative city (outscoring New York City

and Tel Aviv) in large part because of its state-of-the-art transit system. The award-winning Metro transit system includes trains, light rail, buses, outdoor escalators and aerial cable cars. For less than $1 USD, you can easily access all parts of the city, in spotless carriers. So let's step aboard and take a ride to some of the most interesting, must-see locations.

The Rebirth of Medellín El Renacimiento de Medellín FIRST STOP: EL POBLADO Our tour begins at the Poblado station, located on the edge of the largest tourist area in the city, El Poblado. Here you can choose from hundreds of restaurants offering sumptuous meals from a variety of cuisines. Whether you crave fine dining, sushi, Mediterranean or typical Colombian, you won't be disappointed. The nightlife in Poblado is thriving and energetic with many clubs, bars and dance venues energizing most neighborhoods into the wee hours. El Poblado is also home to the upscale Provenza area where you can stroll treelined streets, past casual open-air cafes, and browse tiny boutiques offering unique fashions crafted by local designers. Pull up a seat at a local coffee shop and enjoy a world-famous Colombian coffee to get re-energized before heading back to the Metro.

From here we'll head north to the downtown area and experience the traditional heart of Medellín - El Centro.

NEXT STOP: ART AND CULTURE Disembarking at Parque Barrio, you are greeted by one of the city's iconic churches. Initially constructed in a gothic, black and white stone design by an Italian architect, it was eventually completed, quite differently by Colombian builders after a dispute arose concerning the project's cost. Adjoining the church you find Botero Plaza, dedicated to Medellín's native son, artist Fernando Botero. He is well known for his often whimsical sculptures and paintings of oddly-sized people and animals. Botero is the most recognized living artist from Latin America and his art can also be found in such places as New

York's Park Avenue and the ChampsÉlysées in Paris. Botero donated 23 massive bronze sculptures to Medellín which tower over Botero Plaza for all to enjoy, cost-free. Botero Plaza is a popular gathering place, sitting adjacent to Medellín's most important museum, the Museo de Antioquia which hosts traveling art shows and exhibits from quintessential local artisans. Museum admission is free during the Christmas season.

THIRD STOP: PARKS, FLOWERS AND FISH Back on the train, still heading north, be sure to stop at the Universidad station where you will find Parque Explora (a hands-on educational experience), Parque Norte, the Aquarium, a children's amusement park and the Planetarium.

>> High angle view over Medellín in Colombia centred on the Parque Explora which is an interactive museum designed by Alejandro Echeverri

The 14 hectare Jardin Botanico, (botanical gardens) offers free admission and features a glass butterfly house, 1,000 living plants and 4,500 different flower varietals, with a special setting devoted to orchids, the official flower of Colombia. Also, be sure to visit the elegant, open-air restaurant nestled in the gardens, for a light snack and cool glass of wine, or order a picnic lunch to nibble near the pond on a grassy hillside.

LAST STOP: SOARING INTO THE MOUNTAINS

>> Botero donated 23 massive bronze sculptures to Medellín which tower over Botero Plaza

Jumping back on the Metro, we continue north until we reach the Acevedo station. This is where we leave the train, but not the station, to connect with the Metro cable system which provides a bird's-eye view of the city. The quiet gondolas glide through the valley and into the mountains, eventually landing at Parque Arví.

>> Metrocable gondolas in Medellín that form part of the public transport system

There is much more to see and do in Medellín; this tour has simply scratched the surface. When planning a visit to Medellín, there are two special events you should target. In August you won't want to miss the Feria de las Flores. This 10-day spectacle is one of the biggest and most extravagant flower festivals in the world. Also, from

December 1st through mid-January, Medellín celebrates Christmas with El Alumbrado, as millions of Christmas lights are illuminated throughout the city. H

owever, the story of the rum in your glass is an interesting one, and one that helps to illuminate the colorful past of the region. From the colonial ships of the British and Spanish, to the Cuban Revolution, rum has played its part in Cuba.

WHY RUM? Well rum wasn't the intended product from the start; sugar was. The growing sugar trade between the fertile grounds of the Caribbean and the sugar hungry countries of Europe meant that there was a whole lot of molasses to get rid of (a byproduct of processed sugar production). Molasses, when fermented then distilled, gives us rum. Rum, being a uniquely tradeable commodity, became a vital part of transatlantic trade. It could be

S

24

transported great distances and was used as currency to pay rations to the sailors, and ease the pain of long, monotonous journeys across the Atlantic. Rum, therefore, became a major trading commodity in the Atlantic. Ships would leave Europe with rifles, gunpowder, and other manufactured goods to send to west Africa in exchange for slaves. The slave ships would sail to the Caribbean in order to trade slaves for sugar, and rum, then the ships would sail north to trade their wares in the New England colonies for furs, tobacco, and hemp, which would of course make their way back to Europe where it would start all over again. Rum, however, mainly stayed in the 'new world' with the taste of Europeans being for wine, beer, and brandy.

BACARDI AND HAVANA CLUB As the trade matured, so did the industry. Techniques were developed to make a more consistent and palatable spirit. These techniques were put into practice when two rum distillers opened their doors in Cuba in the late 1800s: Bacardi and Havana Club. These rum brands would eventually become two of the biggest in the world. Bacardi, however fled to Puerto Rico when rum production was nationalized post-Castro. Havana Club is still to this day made in Cuba, however it is now a government owned entity. From the opening of large distilleries in the late 1800s, until Fidel Castro led the Cuban Revolution, rum and the parties it fueled were intricately interwoven. Rum was the spirit of the opulent parties of Havana in its ballrooms and casinos

when it was America's socialite playground during prohibition. Of course during that same time, one of the single largest consumers of Cuban rum was enjoying Havana: Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway even had a saying that is still used to this day "My mojito in La Bodeguita, my daiquiri in El Floridita." These two bars still serve thirsty customers in Havana and are a popular stop to enjoy a fantastic rum cocktail while reminiscing about the stories concocted within their walls. Cuba is full of cultural history to explore on your vacation. Of course what history is more fun to explore than that of booze? During your visit to Cuba you will no doubt enjoy some fine Cuban rum. Hopefully while sipping on your Cuba Libre (rum and coke), Mojito, or Daiquiri

you can now appreciate a little better the history that has intertwined the fine spirit of rum with this beautiful Caribbean island and its people.

Book review Reseña del libro FOOD, BUSINESS AND SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS IN THE CARIBBEAN AND LATIN WORLDS - EACH PROVIDES RICH MATERIAL FOR THESE AUTHORS TO EXPLORE IN RECENT FICTION AND NON-FICTION

BARBADOS BU'N-BU'N Rosemary Parkinson [Self-Published, 2016]

ON THE WAY BACK Montague Kobbé [Akashic Books, 2016]

EVEN IN PARADISE Elizabeth Nunez [Akashic Books, 2016]

A lifelong explorer of Caribbean foods and cuisine, Rosemary Parkinson found new challenges traveling deep into the backyards, kitchens, and eateries of Barbados while researching her latest book. In fact, it turned into a marathon 'culinary adventure' as she calls this stunning compilation.

The intricacies and crises of life, love and business on a small Caribbean island play out in this latest novel by Montague Kobbé. Father and son and also business partners, Nathaniel and Dragon Jones enter unknown territory when they become involved in an uneasy collaboration with local business interests on Anguilla. Their dream venture is a start-up airline for the island, but the complications of local social and financial relationships brings doom to their plans from early on. Meanwhile, they discover that life in a very small community also means dealing with the unexpected twists in personal relationships that are inevitably linked to financial interests and the unknown agendas of others.

Drawing on the tragic theme of Shakespeare's King Lear and his three daughters, novelist Elizabeth Nunez produces her own contemporary version of this timeless drama with its Caribbean backdrop and historic and present components set between Trinidad, Jamaica and Barbados. When wealthy Peter Duckworth of Trinidad moves to Barbados and decides to endow his three adult daughters with property and possessions before he leaves the world, it unleashes unforeseen reactions and schemes by the women.

Barbados Bu'n-Bu'n traces the voyage of foods across time and how it came to connect one island with multiple other destinations. As Parkinson explains: "Since historic times in the Caribbean we have tended to let people come to our islands and take what is best back somewhere else and claim it as their own. For instance, the ordinary English potato - that really came from us. It was adopted by the British and now it's an 'English' potato and nobody wants to hear that it originally came all the way from Peru through the Amerindians." What fascinates her and will engage her readers is this multi-cultural dimension of Barbados's cuisine: "People like myself are trying to get others to understand the truth about how food travels around the world. When sailors set off from Spain, France and England in their mad rush for gold, they came upon all our islands and took from us what was already there and gave to us foods from their own countries - so food travels!" A grand tapestry of people, history and the foods that reflect both their past and present.

BY HAL PEAT

There is something for every reader in this engrossing novel depicting the complexities of inner and outer Caribbean and Latin lives - from the seemingly placid but often privately turbulent world of a small island such as Anguilla to the overwhelming large urban chaos of Caracas, Venezuela - and in its observation of the inevitable connection between public and private spheres. On The Way Back delves fearlessly into the mind and spirit of its main characters with authenticity, humor and an understated compassion but does not flinch in observing human flaws and the death of dreams that result when deep-rooted attitudes prevail.

A modern-day familial drama centered on mistrust, greed and betrayals As in the Lear tale, this modern-day familial drama centers on mistrust, greed and betrayals that are triggered by power, status and property. Along the way, issues of race, class and other cultural traits within island societies serve as relevant ingredients to the chain of events affecting the Duckworth family. It all makes Even in Paradise as much a fascinating read about social and economic complexities on these islands as it is an acutely human portrait of family dysfunction and destruction.

EXPERIENCE THE WILDER SIDE CURAÇAO IS ONE OF THOSE CARIBBEAN ISLANDS THAT IS NOT COMPLETELY COVERED WITH RESORTS, SHOPS AND HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS. THERE IS A GREAT HIDDEN PART OF THE ISLAND THAT CAN ONLY BE DISCOVERED OFF-ROAD. THE BEST WAY TO GO OFF-ROAD IS WITH ATV & BUGGY TOURS CURAÇAO. BY SHARI JOURDAIN

ABOUT Founded 8 years ago by Arnaldo Alves, ATV & Buggy Tours Curaçao is currently the best in providing off-road tours on the island. They provide 3 and 6 hour trips around the East and West coast. Enthusiastic and professional guides lead the tours and make sure all the participants' wishes are met. The guides have great knowledge about Curaçao's nature and history, and they are eager to ensure you have a great time on the 'wild side' of the island.

FAMILY FRIENDLY There are several quad and buggy tours available on the island, each catering to different clientele, which makes the experience accessible to everyone. If you

42

are a fearless adventurist, the solo Grizzly quad will make your adrenaline pump. You want to go on a ride with your lover? Then the two-person Can-am quad is for you. Groups and families with children will not be left behind, as you can take the buggy that carries 4/6 people! ATV & Buggy Tours' first priority is safety, therefore all buggies come with seatbelts.

THE TOUR During the tour you will visit a few tourist spots such as the Aloe Vera Plantation, the Ostrich Farm and Landhuis Ascencion where you get to see turtles. The offroad part is where it gets interesting. We speed up through the 'desert' of Curaçao. The trees, cactuses and sea views will make this an incredible experience.

TRIPADVISOR AWARD OF EXCELLENCE ATV & Buggy Tours Curaçao is proud to be the winner of the 2015 and 2016 TripAdvisor Award of Excellence. Ranked number three on the list of Outdoor Activities in Willemstad, they have proven to leave a very positive impression on their customers. Their success has led to several additional awards as you can see listed below. - International Arch of Europe Gold Category BID 2014 - Frankfurt, Germany - Best Quality Leadership Gold Category ESQR 2014 - Las Vegas, USA - International Diamond Prize for Excellence in Quality December 2015 - Vienna, Austria - Golden European Award for Quality and Business Prestige March 2016 - Barcelona, Spain - Star for Leadership in Quality Convention April 2016 - Paris, France

Such an excursion can only be called a tour if it also provides interesting facts and history about Curaçao. On our tours, you will visit caves which used to serve as home to the Indians. This will give you more insight into how ancient life used to be on the island. Above the caves, you will have wonderful views. In the far distance you might even spot Curaçao's neighbouring island, Bonaire. It is always hot in Curaçao, that's why the tours also include a stop at one of the many natural beaches, where you will be able to cool off in the water, have a drink/bite and unwind. ATV & Buggy Tours Curaçao is the only tour operator on the island that lets you swim in the 'Cavern of Doom'. This is a natural pool with water that is clean, pure, and full of minerals. What makes this natural pool so special is that it lies beneath the rocks. How cool is that?

ARE YOU READY YET? If you really want to experience the beauty of Curaçao in a different way, this tour is the perfect way to do so. It is adventurous, instructive and most of all, FUN. Don't forget your sunscreen though, the sun will be shining on you while your hair blows freely through the wind. You can lay on the beach wherever you go, but the ATV & Buggy Tours of Curaçao is not to be missed… Have fun!

The locals, known as Paisas, yell 'Vuelta' to encourage the Silleteros to spin around and show their beautiful flower art to both sides of the street.

Trinidad and Tobago CAVES The island of Trinidad hosts fascinating cave systems with the Tamana Caves in the Central Range boasting a total of 1.5 million bats from 11 different species. A trek to the Aripo Caves reveals the island's largest accessible cave system as well as a raucous colony of oilbirds - also known locally as the 'guàcharo' - the only nocturnal fruit-eating bird in the world. The Gasparee Cave system on the island of Gaspar Grande is also worth a visit to view the amazing geological formations including stalactites, flow stones and fringe curtains.

HIKING AND BIKING Hiking and biking trails provide ideal opportunities to explore the rugged rainforests of Trinidad. These can be as easy as a thirty-minute stroll or can stretch to a gruelling five-hour trek, complete with rock climbing. The gurgling rivers and cas-

cading waterfalls scattered throughout the Northern Range of the larger island are more than worth the effort. A multipurpose trail development project is underway to revive 1,000km of trails used by the island's indigenous 'First Peoples' and once completed, they will give adventure seekers a chance to enjoy both biking and trekking through the pristine rainforest.

ZIP LINES Zip lines are the best way to get a bird's eye view of Macqueripe Bay's breathtaking beauty whilst at the same time experiencing the adrenaline rush that comes with such an exhilarating experience. The entire zip line course of seven lines, the highest being 100 feet above the ground, takes between forty-five minutes and an hour to complete and is an added attraction to the ever growing popularity of Trinidad's western peninsula.

CORAL REEFS Tobago is not to be outdone and is truly a paradise on Earth. Located 19 miles north-east of Trinidad, the island has become a haven for divers as it is surrounded by undulating coral reefs, submarine cliffs and spectacular volcanic formations. Just off the waters of the village of Speyside in Tobago is the home of what is said to be the world's largest brain coral and this site is extremely popular amongst seasoned divers. Tobago's Main Ridge Forest is the oldest reserve in the western hemisphere and a guided tour of this ecological treasure is an absolute must for any nature lover.

EVENTS The Surinamese event calendar is remarkable. Officially declared as holidays by the government, traditional cultural festivities are celebrated by the entire nation including the Hindu events of Holi Phagwa and Divali, the Javanese Bodo (end of Ramadhan), Immigration Day of various ethnic groups, Emancipation Day (abolition of slavery) and several other cultural celebrations. In addition, the New Year's Eve tradition of blasting away evil spirits with thousands of firecrackers has gained international fame, while regional participation in

the Savannah Rally and the 'Avond Vierdaagse' (a 4-day walking parade) is gaining in popularity every year.

FLORA AND FAUNA The country's scenery is also very interesting and varied. In the northern part of Suriname, we find a bird-rich coastal plain, which also provides a breeding ground for thousands of giant sea turtles. Most Surinamers live along the coastal area and this is where the largest number of plantations are found, a number of which are still intact. South of the coastal plain lies the savannah - a band of low tree and shrub flatlands, with colourful orchids and tropical fauna. Beyond this belt of white sandy grounds and dark brown water creeks, unfolds the untouched tropical rainforest that spans most of Suriname's inland area.

Declared the greenest nation on Earth by Conservation International, Suriname harbours the largest 'green areas' on the planet and has the biggest water reserve per capita in the world. Almost 80% of Suriname is untouched nature. Pristine waterfalls, wild rapids, robust highlands, exotic flora and more than a 1000 different animal species find home in the spectacular depths of Suriname's interior.

NATIONAL PARKS There are a number of national parks and protected areas in Suriname. The most important ones are the Central Suriname Nature Reserve, located in the centre of the country and covering more than 1.6 million hectares of primary tropical forest, Brownsberg Nature Park (130 km from the capital Paramaribo), Voltzberg Nature

Suriname's capital Paramaribo is a great starting point to get a taste of what the rest of the country has in store. A dominant feature of the urban landscape is the quantity and variety of temples, mosques, synagogues and churches dedicated to the worship of various religions. The picturesque look of the centuries-old wooden buildings in the inner city, a UNESCO World Heritage site, contributes to the unique identity of Paramaribo. The Palmentuin (Palm Grove) is an exceptional green space in the heart of the city that creates a separate rustic atmosphere, capturing the mood of the country's capital and its

people. A walk through Fort Zeelandia, located close to the Waterkant (Water Front), is definitely a must when visiting Paramaribo. Built by the Dutch in the 17th century, this fortress hides a number of secrets. Guided tours are offered on a frequent basis and the fortress museum is open daily.

THEATRUM

Inside the old Teatro Nacional Sucre, in the historic part of Quito, you will find this romantic looking venue. The entrance is very majestic and this is the only venue that will pick you up from your hotel and drop you back again. The menu is interesting; you can tell that there is a culinary force behind Theatrum. It offers you a large variety of culinary choices like Mediterranean dishes, seafood, fish, local dishes, meat, birds and duck. The service is outstanding and the presentation of every single dish is creative and artful. I start with a cocktail on the house, which is strong, sweet and gorgeous. The salad, with local blue cheese from the Andes and caramelized walnuts is mouth watering. The local juices are superb! I continue with the grilled chicken which is nice and juicy, but combined with the cranberry sauce and the blue cheese ravioli this dish is playing rock 'n roll on my palate, meaning it bursts with flavor.

The tenderloin is slightly overcooked but it is a treat to eat this delicious local meat and you can taste the pure organic flavors immediately. The veggies, and the fresh Lima beans are lovely and it also comes with corn tamale stuffed with chicken. I simple adore these little authentic extras on my plate. What a spectacular experience.

sion dishes with a strong touch of Spain but also translates into local dishes. The Aji is 'to die for' as is the Tuna Tataki, which is an explosion of flavors. The Tuna is lightly grilled over charcoal, which is very refreshing and although the potato mash has a tangy taste to it, the soy and sesame flavors make this dish absolutely stunning.

LA GLORIA

In a upscale part of town is where most restaurants are located and that's where you will find La Gloria. The venue is modern with lots of art and some tables overlook the garden with a fountain and sliding doors add an outdoor feeling to the front seating area. The menu has lots of Mediterranean fu-

PIM'S PANECILLO

At the top of Panecillo Hill, overlooking the old historical town in Quito, right under the huge Madonna statue, is where you will find this trattoria (family) style venue with a large inside and outside seating area. The view from every single table is spectacular, overlooking different parts of Quito. I decide to test the authenticity of the local dishes and immediately order the scrumptious but spicy sauce called Aji. Aji is a sauce you can eat with everything and, yes; it has lots of garlic, tomato, cilantro, spring onions, salt and pepper. Trout Carpaccio is made with local fresh water Trout, which looks and tastes very much like Salmon. I have to admit; this is a lovely dish however it would be better to call it ceviche because of its lovely tangy flavor.

70

The Salmon lasagna is another dish I happen to find divine as the layers are made with tomato, sweet bell peppers, spinach, an epic marinara and thin slices of Salmon. Yep, no pasta! The lasagna part is left out which leaves the dish less heavy and gives much more flavor then usual. The service is excellent and although I do mind the cheap white buns they serve, with an outstanding 'Crema Catalana' or Crème Brulee for dessert, the buns cannot spoil my experience at La Gloria.

>> The ravishing presentation of a heavenly chocolate soup

I continue with the most traditional potato soup, 'El Locrito', served with fresh avocado, corn, chicken bits and cheese. I am stunned by all the flavors in this soup; it's the combination of fresh organic veggies straight from the farm. The chocolate soup, served with vanilla ice cream, dark chocolate, some local fruit and cookies is heavenly. The presentation is ravishing and even though none of the staff speaks a word of English, the service is excellent, very kind and warm.

RULES To solve these Sudoku puzzles, place a number into each box so that each row across, each column down, and each small 9-box square within the larger diagram (there are 9 of these) will contain every number from 1 through 9. In other words, no number will appear more than once in any row, column, or smaller 9-box square. By working with the numbers already given as a guide, complete each diagram with the missing numbers that will lead you to the correct solution.

LAST INSIGHTS

Digital nomads THERE ARE WORKERS ALL OVER THE WORLD WHO ARE DOING JUST THAT. CALLED "DIGITAL NOMADS," THESE PEOPLE DO THEIR JOBS WITH A LAPTOP AND INTERNET CONNECTION WHILE THEY TRAVEL THE WORLD. AT THE SAME TIME, NEW EVIDENCE IS EMERGING THAT THIS TYPE OF ARRANGEMENT MIGHT BE BENEFICIAL FOR WORKERS AND THE COMPANIES THEY SERVE. BY NEAL MCNAMARA

HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO ON VACATION PERMANENTLY? than 90% said that they feel more productive working remotely than in an office. The remote workers rated their overall happiness an 8.5 out of 10, while non-remote workers were closer to 7 out of 10.

T

he digital nomad trend was born out of mobile technology, which enables anyone to check in on work from anywhere. Plus, changing attitudes about the workday brought on by millennials becoming the most dominant demographic in the working world. The trend is an outgrowth of telecommuting or, more simply, working from home.

MORE PRODUCTIVE AND HAPPIER A new study of people who work remotely has revealed that remote workers view themselves as more productive, and happier in general. The employee engagement firm TINYpulse polled over 500 remote workers - defined as people who do 100% of their job at home or another location like a coffee shop, or even a Fijian island - and more

80

By other measures, the popularity of remote work is growing. Gallup found that 37% of U.S. workers do some form of telecommuting, up from 9% in 1995. Armed with that kind of data, you might be able to convince your boss to let you become a digital nomad. And, as long there's Internet access, many office workers can still perform all their job duties. "It occurred to me that most of my job is done on email," digital nomad Jennifer Barclay told NBC News in 2014. "It would make sense for me to live somewhere I could enjoy the outdoors more when I shut down my computer."

DOWNSIDES But there are downsides. One digital nomad interviewed by Forbes said that finding an Internet connection was often challenging. Money was also a problem, she said, because she had to deal with foreign transaction fees and exchange rates. The biggest downside, however, might be a loss of camaraderie. Imagine if half your coworkers went nomad. The office would probably be a much emptier place, and communication barriers would be higher.

As long there's Internet access, many office workers can still perform all their job duties Other findings in the TINYpulse poll support that remote work isn't all positive. In the poll, remote workers had a lower opinion of their coworkers: on a scale of 1 to 10, remote workers rated their coworkers at 7.8, while in-office workers gave a rating of 8.5. Having too many digital nomads might erode a larger company culture. For some workers and their employers, the tradeoff might be worth it. There are already large companies - like IBM and Hilton - that actively hire remote workers. For others, the charm of working from a cabin in the Swiss Alps might lose its appeal after a while because of loneliness. After all, they don't call them nomads for nothing.
