appy New Year with high hopes for 2017! Our first edition for the year brings the best events, locally and internationally. The world is changing, and people are more demanding of their rights. Brazil’s political scenario, still in turmoil, is a massive problem. However, there is no doubt that Brazilians will sooner or later defend what is politically correct for the nation. The country will finally wake up. For the wealthy, there are no problems. Miami is right here, and they continue to visit and buy real estate in town. In the United States, we also are seeing significant opposition to our new President, Donald Trump. A Man with a strong determination to regain control of our leadership in the world, a man that knows how to negotiate the best deals to bring back the jobs to this country. A Man that has the Goldfinger approach to great opportunities; the Mar-a-Lago mansion that he bought for less than 10 million is valued today at more than 300 million. It is considered the American Versailles Palace. The big concern today is the “Twitter” style of the new President and his way of dealing with the “establishment.” The greatest question is -- What next? Palm Beach is the “winter” city for the wealthy outsiders, celebrities, and people looking for a low profile place surrounded by beauty. alm Beach on South Florida’s East Coast is one of the three largest cities in the state. A waterfront town and a city that often is associated with the wealthy, celebrities, and mansions of its residents. It is home to sunny-palm lined streets, waterfront views, upscale shoppings, super yachts and breathtaking mansions. When talking about mansions, Mar-a-Lago pops up as one of the residences of President Donald Trump. Purchased in 1985 for less than $10 million, it is now probably worth over $300 million. Nobody can say that Trump does not have a “Goldfinger” indeed. Mar-a-Lago then and now. From a socialite to Donald Trump

ar-a-Lago, Spanish for Sea-to-Lake, was the creation of socialite Marjorie Merriweather Post, a savvy business woman and the heiress of the founder of General Foods. Back in 1923, she started to build the estate which opened in January 1927. Marion Sims Wyeth, the famous American architect, designed

his town with its stylish European influence, little streets such as Via Mizner and Via Parigi is a hot spot, but this city indeed offers much more to be seen. Located 116 kilometers north of Miami, Palm Beach is a well-known destination for “golfers love.” It is a players’ paradise with more than 160 golf courses, with at least 40 open to the general public. Tiger Woods has a residence in Jupiter, not far from Palm Beach and recently opened The Woods Jupiter. Equipped with flat screen TVs for golfer aficionados and a cellar filled with 140 wines to choose from, it is a place to see and been seen. Michael Jordan, the NBA superstar champion, is also building his restaurant in town. These restaurants are the perfect magnet to attract fans and aficionados of the sport. Palm Beach is also the place where you can find anything you need. The luxurious Waterside, an outdoor shopping center, has more than 60 stores in luxury goods and the best global brands. The Waterside has two anchor stores: Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue. nome de Palm Beach tem uma história bastante pitoresca. A região era anteriormente conhecida por Lago Worth, em homenagem ao Major-General William Jenkins Worth, que lutou durante a segunda guerra Seminole. O território não era nada confortável para os primeiros colonos que chegaram em 1872. Como os coqueiros não eram nativos da Flórida, após o náufragio do navio chamado Providencia na região então conhecida por “Lago Worth”em Janeiro de 1878 foi o que deu o início no visual das palmeiras de hoje e o nome da cidade. Êste navio vinha carregado com plantas de côco e após o naufrágio os

Going back in time, from Lake Worth to Palm Beach
T
he name Palm Beach has a unique history. The region was known as Lake Worth, named after Major General William Jenkins Worth, who fought during the second Seminole War. It was not a comfortable territory for the first settlers that arrived in 1872. Coconut palms were not even native to Florida. When the shipwrecked Providencia washed ashore to “Lake” Worth in January 1878 loaded with coconut plants, the settlers saved and planted the beautiful palms initiating the history of Palm Beach. The loaded ship from Havana was destined for Barcelona; however, this ship’s cargo was the beginning of today’s palms of all sizes and varieties in the entire state. There are more than 350 species of Palms in Florida the signature frames of the sunshine estate. Henry Flagler, the biggest developer of Miami at the time, also “touched” this town. The iconic house-museum called Whitehall is what once was his winter home. Before and after he retired, Flagler built a series of luxury hotels, from

A icônica Whitehall hoje museu, foi sua casa de inverno, se é que se póde chamar de inverno esta estação climática da Flórida. Antes,durante, e depois que se retirou, Flagler construiu uma série de hotéis de luxo, de Santo Agostinho à Key West. O nome Flagler está profundamente ligado à Flórida por tudo o que ele imaginou e construiu no estado. Como a estação de trem “Costa leste da Flórida Railway” e o desenvolvimento agrícola de milhões de acres, hotéis, e a sua visão progressista em investimentos.

ubai – 5 November 2016 – Under the patronage of HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the 12th edition of the prestigious Cartier International Dubai Polo Challenge concluded today with a 9-6 win for Zedan Polo. Their opponents in this final were Habtoor Polo, headed up by Mohammed Al Habtoor. HRH Princess Haya presented the impressive Cartier trophy to the Zedan team patrons Amr Zedan and Rashid Bin Drai. Cartier’s VIP guest Alessandra Ambrosio had earlier introduced the most valuable La Martina’s player; Santiago Romero. She also presented the Cartier Best Playing Pony Rug and a saddle to Mohammed Al Habtoor’s Sasha, played by Habtoor Polo’s Tommy Iriarte. The Event with 600 Cartier guests and the presence of HRH Princess Haya also accompanied by HRH Princess Azemah of Brunei was a success. Also the presence of VIP people such as Alessandra Ambrosio, Jerome Metzger, Retail Director Cartier Middle East and India and Ali Albwardy the founder of the Desert Palm Resort and Polo Club – is the home of Cartier polo in Dubai since 2006. hortly after his Inauguration, President Trump announced sweeping Executive Orders, temporarily halting immigration from seven designated countries. The Executive Orders also called for a ban all refugee admissions for 120 days, and an indefinite ban on all Syrian refugees. However, those bans have all been – temporarily or perhaps permanently – suspended by a Federal Court order. While President Trump’s executive orders have brought anxiety to immigrant communities nationwide, the Law Office of Kravitz & Guerra advises that to date, no law has changed, and non-citizen foreign nationals should consult an experienced immigration lawyer to evaluate each situation to determine the most appropriate solution. As of now, there are no changes regarding the processing of investor and work visa types. Foreign nationals who intend to apply for any investor visa or a work visa will continue to do so, according to standard procedures. More changes are expected in the days to come. Interested parties in the immigrant community should stay in contact with knowledgeable Immigration Law professionals and resist the temptation to react to gossip and innuendo. In the meantime, the Law Office of Kravitz & Guerra encourages eligible Green Card Holders (Permanent Residents) to apply for their US citizenship and advises that those already living and working in the United States should seek appropriate paths for legalization, if they haven’t done so already. More than 13,500 people joined Richard Mille to celebrate this 3rd edition of the Concours d’Élégance. Considered one of the world’s finest, as the specialist press and collectors unanimously—and freely—concur. In honor of the occasion, Richard Mille invited friends and partners Jean Todt and Michelle Yeoh, Cyril Kongo, Wayde van Niekerk, and a recent addition to the Richard Mille family, the internationally acclaimed actor, producer and director John Malkovich. During the two days weekend, the present guests watch The traditional classic car rally with the most beautiful cars in the world. One novelty this year was the second race, devoted exclusively to SuperCars and UltraCars from the ’80s through today, which allowed 25 gentlemen drivers to discover the countryside around Chantilly. The drivers behind their rare wheels enjoyed the Mortefontaine testing circuit. The 155 hectares of parks and gardens was the perfect scenery to the most beautiful and unique productions of automotive engineering: bodywork from world-renowned designers and untarnished classics of motor racing, as well as contemporary

creations from the greatest constructors of our time. The Italian manufacturer MV Augusta delighted the visitors and the press with the new ‘atelier’ motorbike by Zagato. The work of the master coachbuilder from Milan which took its world premiere at Chantilly. During the 3rd edition of Chantilly Arts & Élégance by Richard Mille, it was also an occasion to celebrate the 50th career anniversary of FIA president, Jean Todt. The author of many motorsports tours had its emotional reunion to his former racing cars—the famous Scuderia F1, the legendary Peugeot 205T16 and the 504 Rallye Groupe 4—to which he delivered first prize in the category devoted to his career. Connoisseurs and families alike were charmed by a program celebrating at once the greatest artists of automobile history. The opening of “The Grand Condé, rival of the Sun King?” exhibition in the Jeu de Paume Hall, Versailles revealed to the public more than 120 works and historical documents of great importance, including prestigious loans from some of the most famous museums in France and abroad. The event “ Chantilly Arts & Élégance” festivities gathered together 40 experts on the field. Jean Todt, was called upon to pass judgment for three automobile competitions: the Concours
d’Élégance to distinguish constructors and its futuristic vehicles; the Concours d’État, reserved for collectors of classic cars and the Grand Prix des Clubs, which rewards those who keep the history of the automobile alive. Alongside a model was wearing a dress by couturier Eymeric François. He received top honors from the assembly, along with the most prestigious prize: the Concours d’Élégance, which brings together the respective aesthetics of high fashion and concept cars. Next, a hundred cars judged in the context of the Concours d’État, on the criteria including any restorations. Also their condition and their historical significance. The Richard Mille “Best of Show” prize was awarded to an Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B from 1938, with Touring bodywork. The Concours des Clubs brought together 800 cars representing 40 different clubs, and evaluated not only their presentation and the quality of restoration, but also their mise-en-scene as part of an elegant “picnic on the grass.” This year’s winner was the Club Amicale Tricyclecariste de France. The 4th edition announced by Richard Mille and Peter Auto will happen on September 10th 2017 at the Château du Chantilly, gathering Fashion, beautiful cars and famous faces in the country. n

T
he estate’s connection with the Montmorency family began in 1484. The first mansion (no longer in existence, now replaced by the Grand Château) was built in 1528– 1531 for the Constable Anne de Montmorency by Pierre Chambiges. The Petit Château was also built for him, around 1560, probably by Jean Bullant. In 1632, after the death of Henri II, it passed to the Grand Condé who inherited it through his mother, Charlotte Marguerite de Montmorency. Several interesting pieces of history are associated with the château during the 17th century. Molière’s play, Les Précieuses ridicules, received its first performance here in 1659. Madame de Sévigné relates in her memoirs that when Louis XIV visited in 1671, François Vatel, the maître d’hôtel to the Grand Condé, committed suicide when he feared the fish would be served late. The original mansion was destroyed in the French Revolution. It was repaired in a modest way by the last Condé, but the entire property was confiscated from the Orléans family between the years 1853 and 1872, during which interval it was owned by Coutts, an English bank. Chantilly was entirely rebuilt in 1875–1882 by Henri d’Orléans, duc d’Aumale (1822–1897) to the designs of Honore Daumet. The new château met with mixed reviews. Boni de Castellane summed up one line of thought: “What is today styled a marvel is one of the saddest specimens of the architecture of our era — one enters at the second floor and descends to the salons”. In the end, the Duc d’Aumale bequeathed the property to the Institut de France upon his death in 1897. FONT: WIKEPEDIA

he third edition of the RORC Transatlantic Race starts amid light south-westerly winds. The 2865 mile long ocean regatta crosses the Atlantic Ocean from Lanzarote (Canary Islands) to Grenada (Caribbean Sea). The race record to beat for a multihull was set by Phaedo3 just last year in a time of 5 days, 22 hours, 46 minutes and 3 seconds. Modena, Saturday 26 November 2016. The RORC Transatlantic Race started at 13.00 Italian time (12.00 local time in Lanzarote, Canary Islands). A fleet of 14 craft lined out, including Maserati Multi70 manned by skipper Giovanni Soldini and his team who were eager to embark on this first ocean challenge. «The transatlantic crossing we’re facing into is strange: we came here to compete in a Caribbean race – and that means high pressure areas, Trade Winds, steady winds. But the actual weather situation is completely different to that», commented Giovanni Soldini as he sailed out of Marina Lanzarote. «There are various tropical depressions with fronts very far south».

THE RORC TRANSATLANTIC RACE, NOW ON ITS THIRD OUTING, IS COMPETED OVER A 2,865-NAUTICAL MILE ROUTE FROM LANZAROTE (CANARY ISLANDS) TO GRENADA (THE CARIBBEAN). A TOTAL OF 14 BOATS ARE COMPETING IN THREE CLASSES: IRC, CLASS 40 AND MOCRA MULTIHULL.
Maserati Multi70, her closest rival Phaedo3 and the rest of the fleet started the RORC Transatlantic Race in an 8-knot SW crosswind. Once they have made their way down the channel to the south of Lanzarote, however, they’ll be sailing upwind, and the wind is expected to freshen towards evening. «We can’t wait to fly on the ocean», concluded Giovanni Soldini. «We are delighted to be in this race because it’s a big step for us: after three months of research and development, it is the first time we’ll be getting to sail on the ocean in our flying trim– on one side at least. We’re hoping that pitting ourselves against this sea will teach us a lot and help us make progress». The RORC Transatlantic Race, now on its third outing, is competed over a 2,865-nautical mile route from Lanzarote (Canary Islands) to Grenada (the Caribbean). A total of 14 boats are competing in three classes: IRC, Class 40 and MOCRA Multihull. The current multihull record was set by the trimaran Phaedo3 last year in a time of 5 days, 22 hours, 46 minutes and 3 seconds. n

Depois da saída do canal ao sul de Lanzarote, eles navegaram contra o vento. «Estamos muito satisfeitos por estar nesta corrida porque é um grande passo para nós: após três meses de pesquisa e desenvolvimento, é a primeira vez que nós estaremos navegando no oceano com este tipo de embarcação. Esperamos que com tal aprendizado possamos progredir». A corrida transatlântica RORC, agora em sua terceira edição, competindo numa rota de milha náutica-2.865 de Lanzarote (Canárias) até Grenada (Caribe). Com um total de 14 barcos competindo em três classes: IRC, 40 de classe e MOCRA Multihull.
