Our Own Anacapa… Delightfully New! Chelle Mestemacher, West Valley Photo Club What’s new?
Each week, Jill Machay, our Food & Beverage Manager, will be featuring a “Specialty Drink”. This Saturday afternoon though our lovely Stephanie Martin mixed up a favorite, the tasty traditional “Cosmo”. She makes it look easy. No surprise there. Stephanie’s been tending the bar for over eight years; she knows her stuff. She’s stayed around all these years because she loves the residents.
In mid-October, the Sunday Anacapa Breakfast Buffet started back up. Popular among residents and visitors, this marvelous spread has a mouthwatering assortment of rolls, pastries, fruit, eggs made the way you like ‘em, and waffles. And, there’s pancakes, biscuits and gravy, other breakfast meats, and a breakfast special. Whew! Ty and Clara enjoy taking good care of the buffet and the customers, and always have smiles on their faces. All this for $20! And … $5 Mimosas and Bloody Marys! Got to be the best deal in the Valley.
On Sunday, October 17th, Rayden demonstrated his omeletprep expertise, preparing a Denver Omelet right before my very eyes. Ten years on the kitchen staff, he’s an expert! You choose the ingredients and he’ll custom cook it just for you. Having him make your omelet, your way, makes the buffet that much more enjoyable. All in all, our Anacapa staff are excited about “cooking up”, and pouring a wonderful new season for us all. You’ll discover the new selections on the Lunch Menu from the Specialties, Salads and Sandwiches. And new Dinner Menu choices, like “Grilled Chicken Pesto Pasta”. I was privileged to watch Earnest Barrs, the Anacapa’s new interim Executive Chef, preparing this dish from start to finish, using in-house freshly prepared pesto. I’ll attest to its “delish-iosity”, as Earnest graciously sent it home with me in a to-go box … yummy!
