It was good. At first, it seemed like a lot of work but it was actually pretty easy since you got to work with your friends. - Isaiah Ou Volunteers help the Sacramento Tree Foundation by mulching park trees in South Sacramento and learning proper mulching techniques.

Franklin High School received the Club of the Month award for the month of July. Thank you to all the members who continued to volunteer at service events and contributing at our Boba Tea House Fundraiser!
The Spotlight on Service Program promotes a monthly theme that falls in line with Key Club International and the CNH District’s Major Emphasis Children: Their Future, Our Focus. To live up to this statement, we must provide children with the education they need to ensure that kids all around the world have a great future awaiting them. During the month of August, we should remember to focus on increasing all children's access to education and improving its quality.
HOW? Get in contact with some local elementary schools and offer to tutor children K-6th with basic school subjects such as math or reading!
Organize a “Back-to-School” school supplies drive! You could have people donate pencils, pens, etc. or backpacks filled with these supplies and donate them to a local elementary school.
Service doesn’t exactly have to be geared towards children’s education, but can be for children’s future. The Caring For Kids Run & Walk raises money and awareness for xHope, an organization that focuses on “at-risk” youth, foster care and adoptive services within Elk Grove and the Greater Sacramento region, to provide needed resources, programs and support for children throughout our community and abroad. Sign up here to volunteer at this wonderful event.
As school is quickly approaching and time to start recruiting members during many schools’ annual club rush, I thought it was appropriate to interview some fellow Key Clubbers about why they joined Key Club and what they enjoy about being part of this club!
I joined key club in my freshman year because at club rush all the Immediate Past officers were talking and laughing together and telling everyone to join the club. As I walked up I saw rows of names so I thought to myself that it was a good way to make friends outside of classes. It was also way to get community service hours so it was a kill two birds with one stone type of situation. I BEEgan to meet different people I would have never normally meet in my own classes and also I got to bond with friends that I was not close with. Key club helped me open my friend circle and let me experience inclusiveness which was a big deal as I was a shy freshman. Also I completed my hours in time without much of a hassle compared to others who had to find their own events while I just looked on a forum and sign up. I was quite surprise at how so many people were so motivated and passionate for a club made up of students and they weren’t even paid for anything, they just choose to serve their community and I hope to give the same inspiration in the later years.
I joined key club in my freshmen year not having any idea what I was getting myself into other than gaining community service hours. after a few months after I began to enjoy serving my community while hanging out w friends at the same time. The thing that I enjoy most is having the chance to meet new people and I was most surprised by how many people were active and the amount of energy that radiates off of key clubbers in every event I go to.
