It’s December and that means we have a bunch of upcoming events involving holiday spirit. Join us at Sac State’s CKI Santa’s Gift of Service and our Caroling for Cans December DCM! We have many ways to give back this holiday season including a clothing drive and canned food drive to help those in need. Be on the lookout for these new events later in December!
Happy Holidays ~ Katrina Do
FROM THE PRESIDENT Aloha monsters! We attended many division events including Kiwanis Family House Cleanup and the November DCM & Thankfulness, where our members made cards for the Campfire firefighters. Our members really enjoyed these division events because they got to interact with members from other club, so thank you for coming out! In December we plan on attending CKI Gift of Service, Yule Ball, Caroling for Cans, and California International Marathon. I hope you enjoy Franklin’s December newsletter, mahalo!

HollyWood Tree Planting
The event had so many positive people of a ages coming together early in the morning plant trees for the community to make it more beautiful. Everyone was working hard and worked together to dig holes and put trees in people's front yards. Everyone was s positive towards one another, giving encou agement for those who were working hard pull out giant roots out of the ground. And when our group couldn't do as may years a the other groups since we had many obstru tions in the ground, other groups covered fo us and did whatever we couldn't accompl I liked how other people from around the community from elders to little kids came to gether to spend their own time to help mak the community beautiful with trees. I met so many nice people, including students form other schools like Pleasant Grove. Article and visuals by Emily Cho

Sasf annual
crab feed The Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation hosts an annual crab feed to help fundraise for their youth programs, sports events, and community events! It sells out every year and the set up and clean up couldn't be done without Key Club volunteers. “We helped set up the event by folding the bibs, taping plastic table cloths downs, placing plates at each seat, etc. We also washed some dishes in the kitchen.” —Sharon Ma
(elk grove dickens street fair The Elk Grove Dickens street faire is a wonderful and exciting experience you can share with your whole family the weekend of Thanksgiving! Many families come and get a taste of the holiday spirit after celebrating thanks.
The event was very fun and festive and it felt just like Christmas! My job was to serve food to everyone and pass out plates. My favorite part was getting to see everyone smiling and eating breakfast with their families!! —Emma Wei

SPOTLIGHT ON SERVICE DECEMBER: PROVIDING BASIC NEEDS December is also the time to reflect on the year as a whole. Think about what you have given to others and how you have impacted their lives! Remember, it is better to give than to receive! It’s also the time for giving gifts and giving back to your home, school, and community. While your schedule may be packed, remember to make time to give to those who are less fortunate. In California, Nevada, and Hawaii alone there are almost 541,000 children who will not get to spend the holidays in a home.
The SOSP theme for December is “Providing Basic Needs” because the CNH District believes that Key Clubbers can make a difference by hosting events such as clothing drives, volunteering at shelters or giving a family a great holiday memory. This December, help provide families with the basic needs to survive. Say a simple thank you or smile to show your friends and family that you care, help your teacher clean the class to give them an easier time, or volunteer around your local community!
DISTRICT SURVEY Take this district survey to help the district board gather feedback from CNH Key Clubbers and understand what clubs need in order to thrive. You will be asked several questions regarding many aspects of CNH Key Club like the events you attend to how the district communicates to you. It will only take a few minutes and it would be a great help, thank you!! Some sections are optional and can be skipped if they don’t apply to you.
DISTRICT JUDGING Apply to be a part of the district judging committee here! It’s a great way to get involved in Key Club outside of the club level and you can meet many new people across different divisions!!
