FROM THE EDITOR
Hi everyone! Spooky szn is almost over but fear not, Thanksgiving is right around the corner ;) November is packed full of many events, both social and service! Check out our website to sign up to volunteer, or to come out to one of our interclub, especially Trick or Treating with the rest of our division! We will be joining other schools to raise money for UNICEF. Pick up a box in the meeting room because the due date to submit boxes will be the following week. I’m thankful for everyone who reads my newsletters and for everyone who makes Key Club a blast!
-Katrina Do
FROM THE PRESIDENT This October we were very busy planning for Fall Rally North. We couldn’t have raised $3k for PTP without all of your hard work. Since October’s Spotlight on Service emphasis is UNICEF, at the end of the month we will be trick or treating for UNICEF with Sheldon, Pleasant Grove, Monterey Trail, and Laguna Key Club. For November we are planning a Kiwanis Family House Interclub and each week we will be volunteering at Kiwanis Family House for our Spotlight on Service Project. We are also selling Thanksgiving Grams at our school to raise funds for DCON in April. I hope you enjoy this spooky newsletter and have a wonderful November!

1&2: Urban Cow Half Marathon
At Urban Cow Half Marathon we were in charge of distributing bibs, t -shirts, and bracelets for the runners. We were assigned into teams and each team had a specific task, such as directing where the runners should go, helping them with information, or thanking them for coming. We met a lot of people from other Key Clubs —Emily

We hiked 1.5 miles to plant oak trees. The oak trees we planted are a native species that are essential to the ecosystem. The trees sustain the animals and insects that live in the Stone Lake Wildlife Refuge.

We dug holes and smoothened soil to plant saplings. We then placed protective barriers around the tree.—Kai
Sunflowers were given out before the walk started at the entrance. Walkers could write the names of people they care about on them and then put it in the promise garden inside the stadium.
At Sacramento’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I greeted the runners and told them where to go for signing up and I was on the route cheering on people as they passed. I loved the energy from the people and how they treated one another. People were comforting one another if they were crying, cheering each other on, caring for each other, and it was really nice to see people from Sacramento helping each other’s futures and families. At Arlene Hein Elementary’s fall festival, many kids gathered to have some Halloween fun! I was working at the table where kids could come up, pick out their own mini pumpkin to take home and were able to glue on googly eyes and decorate them however they like with markers! The children were so happy decorating their own pumpkins and it made me so happy to see them enjoy their childhood days. At this spooky event, volunteers set up games, sold concessions, and had many stations for crafts, such as a tattoo station! Article and visuals by Katrina Do

FALL RALLY N Fall Rally North was a huge success!! With 47 members, Franklin High joined D7S and other divisions around northern California and Nevada to raise money for the Pediatric Trauma Program! This year, D7S raised $3,030 for PTP!! I’m so proud of all the monsters for making a change. Although we didn’t win the spirit stick, we still made it to the final round of the spirit battle and had lots of fun! I hope you all enjoyed Six Flags and see you all next year!

“FALL RALLY NORTH” FIRST TIMERS HANA ROSEBERRY junior
From the spirit events to roaming Six Flags, every event was memorable. Everyone cheered as one as we proved our unity in the stands. There were loud cheers of support and chants from all divisions which you won’t be able to forget. Being able to meet people from other divisions was a great experience and opportunity. Going up to people you didn’t know and having them be so friendly with open arms really made you feel like part of a family. Fall Rally North was an event that was fun to be a part of and special to remember!
My first FRN experience was amazing. I went out of my comfort zones and got to befriend lots of people from different divisions and even people within my
CAREY WONG
division. I would definitely go again next year, it’s such a fun event to become spirited and help our division win the spirit stick, hang out with friends, make even more friends, and have lots of fun. :)
