Happy New Year key clubbers!! I hope you are all enjoying your break and getting ready to go back to school, I know it’s dreadful but we have many events for you to take the edge off and relieve some stress on the weekend! Hopefully one of your new years resolutions is to volunteer more! Keep reading for more information on upcoming events. The end of the key club term is quickly approaching so we have to prepare for officer elections for next year! More details will be in the issue if you are interested in being part of the board this year. In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your break ;D

n January we have many upcoming events. To start off the new year, we will be having recycling collection at the first meeting of 2019. We are also hosting division 7 south’s DCM Friday, January 18, and we are having a movie night after. This is the first division event that Franklin has hosted in two terms. Once we get back in January, we will start advertising for DCON including the itinerary, cost, and equirements to attend. Furthermore we will start advertising Frankin’s elections, which include officer training, officer test, and speeches.

DECEMBER REVIEW: DECEMBER DCM & CAROLING FOR CANS

December is the time of holidays and fun! During the DCM, club updates were sang to popular Christmas carols. After the December DCM, Division 7 South broke into groups and went around the neighborhood to carol Christmas songs and collect cans to donate to our local food bank! I highly encourage you all to come out to our next DCM to learn more about our division

2018 Leadership Training Conference (LTC) We brought back our Leadership Training Conference in preparation for the club elections that will occur FebruaryMarch! Presentations were made for every club officer position, along with information for Division Leadership Team (DLT) positions. It was a great learning experience as members and officers got to explore each positions duties and expectations. Past and present officers also made a brief explanation about their experiences in that position!

PAST SERVICE EVENTS

CKI Santa’s Gift of Service is a very special event where Region 16 all gather together to make holiday cards, ornaments, candy grams and other holiday themed goodies! Many Key Clubbers reunited with old friends, and new friends were made! Volunteers were able to experience icebreakers and workshops. I highly recommend you all to attend next year!!

CKI Santa,s Gift of Service In the morning, we were split up into groups and did our group cheers. Afterward, we went to a college panel and were informed of the application process, how not to stress, and ways to get support from teachers and staff on campus. We met with many college students to learn their application process and how they handle their classes. After the brief discussion, we made flower petals out of paper to raise money. After we ate lunch, we made ornaments, cards, and candy sleighs. Later, we played icebreakers, such as soulmate and earthquake. Overall, CKI's Santa's Gift of Service was a really fun Kiwanis event! I got to meet key clubbers from different divisions and befriend many college students also!
