Xmas Markets Aljezur

Lagoa

This huge Christmas market is held along the west coast in Aljezur. It is extremely popular and attracts visitors from all around the Algarve over each of its three days. There is a diverse and exceptional range of homemade individual craftwork items on offer. Children will be catered for in the play area, and there will be an entertainment programme with international choirs and music groups to delight young and old alike. In culinary terms, they have thought of everything; the various food stalls entice visitors not only with national, but also international delicacies such as sausages and delicious home-produced smoked meats. Regardless of its northern origin, the very popular mulled wine has become almost a local tradition for the Algarve Christmas time, and in Aljezur is supplied by an organic wine estate.

Ferragudo - For the 10th time the Artenata invites you to Ferragudo where, along the Praça Rainha D. Leonor and in the surrounding streets, more than 50 regional exhibitors will be offering craftwork and traditional desserts. This pre-Christmas event is accompanied by festive street entertainment and music.

Lagoa - A few days later sees the start of 4th Christmas market in Lagoa - not as up to now on the Fatacil grounds, but for the first time in the square in front of the Auditorium. In addition to the traditional stalls with craftwork and Christmas treats, this year, for the first time, there will be films shown and programmes for young people with music and theatre performances.

Weihnachtsmärkte Aljezur

Lagoa

An der Westküste in Aljezur läuft der große Weihnachtsmarkt, der sich sehr großer Beliebtheit freut und Besucher aus der gesamen Algarve anzieht, gleich über drei Tage. Das Angebot an selbstgemachten individuellen Handwerkstücken ist vielfältig und außergewöhnlich. Für die Kinder wird im Spielbereich gesorgt, und das Unterhaltungsprogramm mit internationalen Chören und Musikgruppen wird Groß und Klein gleichermaßen begeistern. Auch in kulinarischer Hinsicht ist an alles gedacht; die verschiedenen Gastronomiestände locken nicht nur mit nationalen, sondern auch mit internationalen Leckerbissen wie Bratwürsten und leckerem Kassler aus Hausschlachtung. Ungeachtet seines nördlichen Ursprungs fast schon heimisch in der weihnachtlichen Algarve ist der beliebte Glühwein, der in Aljezur von einem Bioweingut serviert wird.

Ferragudo - Bereits zum zehnten mal lädt die Artenata nach Ferragudo, wo auf dem Praça D. Rainha Leonor und in den umliegenden Straßen mehr als 50 regionale Aussteller Kunsthandwerk und traditionelle Süßspeisen anbieten. Die vorweihnachtliche Veranstaltung wird mit Straßenunterhaltung und Musik festlich untermalt.

Lagoa - Einige Tage später findet der vierte Weihnachtsmarkt von Lagoa statt – nicht wie üblich auf dem Fatacil-Gelände, sondern erstmalig auf dem Platz vor dem Auditorium. Neben den traditionellen Ständen mit Kunsthandwerk und Weihnachtsnaschereien wird es in diesem Jahr erstmalig Kinovorstellungen und Jugendprogramme mit Musik- und Theateraufführungen geben.

Loulé / Almancil The Christmas market in Vale de Lobo, which ushers in the festive season to the resort, will take place again this year. It is already the 5th occasion of the charity market for the Wolf Valley Charity Fund and as always promises to be a pleasant cosy day in the warmth of the Auditorium. The great success of previous markets has led to huge interest among exhibitors and visitors, and as a result there will be a wide variety of stalls with ideas for Christmas gifts. For children in particular, there will be the great excitement of Santa Claus’ grotto, face painting, balloons and the entertainment put on by the Oficina do Sonho. The “Fine Dining” catering will be responsible for the culinary offerings with a popup restaurant providing snacks and hot meals. At the end of the day, the winner of the raffle will be drawn; the proceeds from this go towards helping the needy in the region.

The Conrad Hotel in Quinta do Lago is promising a Christmas market with a difference this year. Visitors will need to be prepared for anything – anything, except snow. With its Christmas atmosphere and sparkling fairy lights, there will be stalls with fine craft products, luxury gift items, delicious food and mulled wine. For entertainment and fun, Santa Claus will be there to greet everyone with a hearty ho-ho-ho, there will be children‘s games and carol singing. At 4 pm, the doors to the ballroom will be opened and visitors can look around a special exhibition with works of art by 70 disadvantaged young people supported by the children‘s charity ACCA. The event will take place in collaboration with the art gallery Artcatto in Loulé; all the proceeds from the artworks sold go to charitable causes.

The International Rotary Club of Almancil would like to welcome visitors to this year‘s Christmas market in Jardim das Comunidades, opposite the ASCA-building. To attract visitors the organisers are offering music and dance, typical Christmas carols, stalls with cakes and mulled wine, handicrafts, decorations, plants and much more. All the proceeds go to ASCA, an association which provides support for disadvantaged people of all ages in Almancil. The event will take place in cooperation with the local community.

São Brás de Alportel Amigos do Museu - There are gifts galore for lovers of simple, creative and original jewellery, handbags, small works of art, books, calendars and cards, handmade soaps and so on, there’s also the traditional Christmas market run by the Friends of the Museum in São Brás. Of course, as befits a proper Christmas market, there will also be bread, cakes, biscuits, jams, jellies, handmade chocolate and mulled wine on offer in the square behind the costume museum. Proceeds from the lottery go to our underprivileged four-legged friends, the municipal fire department and disadvantaged children.

Loulé / Almancil Auch in diesem Jahr findet in Vale de Lobo der traditionelle Weihnachtsmarkt statt, mit dem das Resort die Festsaison einläutet. Lagos Natalândia

Lagos Zoo is preparing for its annual Christmas event, the “Natalândia”. A lot of effort is going into the month-long event to make sure it will be fun for the whole family. You will be meeting Santa Claus, his reindeer and elves, with artificial snow to give it just the right winter atmosphere. Traditional games, face painting, bouncy castles, festive music and theatre performances will provide the highlights for the kids while the adults will certainly spend more time at the Christmas stalls which will be offering crafts, festive culinary delights and ideas for gifts. Of course, in addition to the Christmas specialities, visitors can also enjoy the more than 600 animals in the zoo.

Der Zoo von Lagos bereitet sich auf sein jährliches Weihnachtsevent „Natalândia“ vor. Die Weihnachtswelt verspricht jede Menge Spaß für die ganze Familie und läuft einen Monat lang. The Philharmonic Society of Lacobrigense May 1st represents a percussion group, a brass ensemble and its Philharmonic Band, composed of 40 musicians aged between 8 and 60. Alice in Wonderland

The ballet by Christopher Wheeldon is based on the book by Lewis Carroll and portrays his fantastic tale with its instantly recognisable characters. Amongst them, the Mad Hatter with his tap-dancing, the white rabbit and the cantankerous Queen of Hearts. With this piece, Wheeldon, along with the composer Joby Talbot and designer Bob Crowley, has created a true ballet for the whole family with all the spirit of Carroll’s popular children’s classic. A brilliant performance with great choreography, colourful sound composition and some wonderful magic on stage. Boyhood

Director Richard Linklater shot this film over a period of 12 years. The first filming took place in the summer of 2002 and the final scenes were shot in the autumn of 2013. The main actors, Ellar Coltrane, Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke, met regularly to carry forward the work on this project and wrote their own dialogues which allowed them to contribute their own personal experiences. The special thing about this film is that the actors really do grow up and age over the course of the long film project, so the story is quite realistic. Boyhood tells the story of Mason, a completely normal boy trying to survive in school after his parents have divorced. Time after time, his mother has bad luck with her new relationships, but at least manages to find fulfilment in her career as a psychologist. His father is a goodfor-nothing who, despite that,

always seems to get back on his feet and then the next moment makes the same mistakes again. But, when he finds stability in his new family and starts work as an insurance broker, he finally learns to accept responsibility for his life. Through all this chaos, Mason tries to live out a normal childhood. Despite moving home frequently, he always has to find friends, at the same time constantly fight to get a close relationship with his father and then cope with the ups and downs of falling in love for the first time. Regisseur Richard Linklater realisierte diesen Film über einen Zeitraum von zwölf Jahren. Die ersten Aufnahmen fanden im Sommer 2002 statt, die letzten

wurden im Herbst 2013 abgeschlossen. Die Hauptdarsteller Ellar Coltrane, Patricia Arquette und Ethan Hawke trafen sich über die Jahre regelmäßig, um an diesem Projekt weiterzuarbeiten, und schrieben selbst Dialoge, um ihre persönlichen Erfahrungen einzubringen. Das Besondere an diesem Film ist, dass die Schauspieler im Verlauf des langen Filmprojekts reall wachsen und altern, sodass die Geschichte realistisch inszeniert werden konnte. Die Handlung von Boyhood erzählt von Mason, einem ganz normalen Jungen, der nach der Scheidung der Eltern versucht, die Schule zu überstehen. Seine Mutter hat immer wieder Pech mit neuen Beziehungen, findet aber zumindest beruflich Erfüllung als Psychologin. Sein Vater ist ein Nichtsnutz, der zwar immer wieder auf die Beine kommt, obwohl er stets über die selben Fehler stolpert. Erst als ihm eine neue Familie Halt gibt, übernimmt er als Versicherungsmakler endlich Verantwortung. Mason versucht, in all diesem Chaos eine normale Kindheit zu erleben. Trotz häufiger Umzüge muss er Freunde finden, immer wieder aufs neue eine enge Beziehung zu seinem Vater erkämpfen und die Höhen und Tiefen der erste Liebe verkraften.
