Weather experts describe Tuesday’s storm as ‘violent rain’
Killarney businesses and home owners are counting the costs after a record breaking deluge hit the town on Tuesday evening.
One of the most ferocious rain storms ever to hit Killarney caused widespread damage and disruption.
The deluge struck at around 4pm – at a time when the town was very busy as the citizenship ceremony at the INEC had just finished.
The Meteorological station at Killarney measured nearly 50mm in the rain gauge according to monitoring website Irish Weather Online.
“This is a very very wet day in and of itself but the most notable aspect is 27mm of this fell within a 30-minute period,” said the website.
“This gives a rainfall rate of 54 millimetres per hour which is classified as violent rain. This follows on from another torrential rainfall event in Tralee last Saturday and other places on various days including Drimnagh in Dublin on Tuesday.
“The excess heat and humidity along with the exceptional warm sea surface temperatures, relatively speaking to norm that is, surrounding the island are likely aiding in the intense nature of these localised downpours.”
The storm caused widespread flooding in the wider Killarney area. Park Road was impassable near the railway bridge. Countess Road also witnessed severe flooding.
Also on Park Road, a house was struck by lightning. Emergency services were called to the scene in the height of the storm, and witnesses said there was a large gaping hole left in the roof of the dwelling house after the strike.
The Omniplex reported flooding damage, as did the Gleneagle Hotel.

Council monitoring algae levels in lakes
In light of the current and on-going warm weather conditions, as a precaution, Kerry County Council has erected advisory signage at a number of locations along the shores of Lough Leane and Muckross Lake.
This to advise members of the public of the potential for an algal growth in the water and on the shoreline.
“While the overall levels of algae are not of particular concern at the moment, the Council has received reports of localised transient shoreline accu-
Students off to Arizona with town twining association
Students from Killarney will be going on a trip of lifetime in October thanks to a project by the Killarney Town Twinning Association.
The association met with delegates from the town of Scottsdale, Arizona this week.
Scottsdale is unique in the sense that it is Sister City of Killarney – a step up from the traditional Twin City arrangement. The meeting, led by Deputy Mayor John O’Donoghue at Killarney Golf Club, strengthened ties between the towns. Sean Counihan, chair of the Killarney
welcomed the delegation and confirmed that local students will be heading to Arizona later this year.
Many of the American visitors will act as host families during the trip.
“We are proud Scotsdale is to be associated with the project and we look forward to greetings the Killarney students in Scotsdale in late October,” said JoAnn Gardner of the Arizona committee.
Killarney Town Twinning Association will welcome Mayor Bill Duich from Concord, North Carolina who will mark 30 years of the twinning agreement between the two towns.
mulations of algae at a small number of locations along the shoreline,” said a council spokesperson.
Members of the public are advised not to bathe in water if there are visible signs of algal growth in the vicinity.
They are also advised to ensure that
they keep their dogs under control as such algal accumulations can be harmful on ingestion by small animals. The situation is being monitored closely on an ongoing basis by Kerry County Council.
Great Southern Killarney partners with the Ring of Kerry Cycle
Great Southern Killarney is to get behind The Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle this year and show their support as one of the main partners for this year’s event, taking place on July 1.
Now in its 41st year, the cycle takes place along the 170km Ring of Kerry route and supports a wide variety of worthy causes throughout the county, with €1.26 million raised for 34 charities last year alone. As well as continuing their support as a partner, Great Southern Killarney will
have a number of team members taking part in the event itself.
“We are delighted to be partnering with The Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle again this year. It is an incredible event that benefits a variety of wonderful causes throughout the Kerry Region and we are honoured to be involved. A number of our team are training hard at the moment, and we look forward to seeing everyone out there on the day,” said Michael Jacobi, the Managing Director of the Hayfield Family Collection.

Eco warning for National Park Grady’s dream comes true in his last weeks in politics
One of the biggest newspapers in the world has warned that Killarney National Park is an ecological disaster zone.
London’s The Guardian has picked up the park’s battle with Rhododendron. It also said that there are too many deer in the park adding to the ecological issues there.
The paper’s Ireland correspondent Rory Carroll wrote:
“Some Irish environmentalists, however, say the park in the heart of County Kerry is also home to a much darker phenomenon: a slow-motion ecological calamity. Rhododendron, sika deer and other invasive alien species are
asphyxiating the ecosystem, creating “ghost forests”, they say,” In the same piece he quoted rewilding activist and local landowner Eoghan Daltun.
He told the newspaper:
“Killarney National Park is an ecological disaster zone. You have zero natural regeneration of trees. It contains what is by far Ireland’s most important remaining piece of indigenous woodland and it’s being allowed to just essentially die off.”
The official opening of Killarney Skate Park is scheduled for today, Friday.
The park has been a long held ambition for Cllr Donal Grady who will retire from politics next month.
Grady has been a long-time advocate of the project and has being pushing for the park for years.
The long-serving local councillor announced his retirement from politics in March.
July’s Killarney Municipal District meeting will be his last time that he will sit in the council chamber as an elected official. It is fitting that the official opening of one of his pet projects will come as he approaches the end of illustrious and colourful political career.
Construction workers moved in to a small site adjacent to the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre in May and despite the recent weather, remain on target to complete the job this week ahead of the opening today.
Mods & Minis to relocate to Killarney Outlet Centre
Popular children’s clothes shop
Mods & Minis is relocating to the Killarney Outlet Centre.
Their current store at Deerpark will close on July 2 – there is massive relocation sale on there right now – ahead of the grand re-opening on July 6 in the popular shopping centre.
“We have been busy in Deerpark with well-wishers and those shopping our relocation sale. Our staff are working hard behind the scenes to ensure we reopen
on Thursday July 6 at 10am. We will have exclusive offers, goodie bags and entertainment on the day. We really appreciate the continued support of our customers and look forward to seeing them in our new location,” said founder Deirdre McCloskey.
“We are delighted to move back to Killarney town and to the Killarney Outlet Store where we were over 10 years ago. We have invested in a fabulous new look shop and can’t wait to open.”
4,000 new citizens attend Citizenship Ceremonies in Killarney
Minister for Justice Helen McEntee this week welcomed the granting of citizenship to 4000 new Irish citizens at ceremonies being held across two days in Killarney.
The Ceremonies were held in the INEC Killarney over June 19 and 20 and applicants from 139 countries around the world were conferred as Irish citizens. Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science
Simon Harris addressed the ceremonies on Monday while Minister of State Niall Collins addressed the ceremonies the
following day.
“I congratulate and welcome our newest citizens on this milestone day in your lives. This marks the end of a journey and the beginning of a new one. Becoming an Irish citizen will guarantee certain fundamental rights under our Constitution. These rights are many and varied, but they will protect you, your family
and your freedom,” Minister McEntee said.
“I encourage each new citizen to embrace your civic duty. It is an essential aspect of life in Ireland. It will empower you to become more engaged in civil society, whether it be in your local community or at a national level, some of you may choose to run for office in the coming years. Active involvement in the community will ensure everyone has a voice and will help strengthen our democracy.”

Muckross Road repairs to start in September
Badly needed repair works to Muckross Road will commence in September.
Kerry County Council said that the works will go to tender by the end of June. It will then revert back to Transport Infrastructure Ireland for final signing off and once a contractor is appointed it is hoped that works will begin in September of this year. Cllr Maura Healy Rae has been pushing for the roads update for months.
“As you will be aware the state of the road at Muckross is in complete disrepair,” she said. “I know that this has been very frustrating for locals who have had to endure the poor road surface for a significant amount of time and indeed is a very poor impression for the many visitors who come to Killarney and visit the many amenities in this area.”
Kerry County Council will continue to carry out maintenance until full resurfacing works begin in September.

Killarney embraces first full season since pandemic
Killarney is wholeheartedly and enthusiastically embracing its first full season since the Covid-19 pandemic and it’s great to witness the energy and sense of purpose evident in the town at this time of the year, Chamber of Tourism and Commerce Joint President, Johnny McGuire, has said.
Addressing a members’ lunch in the Killarney Plaza Hotel, on Wednesday, he said the energy and determination was particularly obvious this year with the outstanding success of the new outdoor dining experience at Kenmare Place and he congratulated all those who brought that project to fruition.
Mr McGuire also highlighted the enormous role the Gleneagle INEC Arena plays in the success of Killarney and added that he is constantly overwhelmed by the amazing events that take place there, almost on a daily basis.
“It is a testament to the vision and foresight of the late Maurice O’Donoghue and it is ably captained today by his son Patrick.
“Thank you to the O’Donoghue family for everything they have done to make the Killarney season what it is,” he said.
At the lunch, a presentation was made to Mayor of Killarney, Cllr Niall Kelleher, to mark his hugely successful two-year term as President of Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce.
Mr McGuire – who with Pádraig Treacy succeeded Niall as joint president earlier this year – said their predecessor spearheaded the organisation with great success and he has also worked tremendously hard for the betterment of Killarney and its people.
He said Niall brought the chamber executive together to implement a plan to completely restructure the business organisation and to prepare for the future.
“We were locked up at that meeting for 48 hours to get it done and it was like electing a pope – we had to wait for the white smoke. We came up with a document in association with a consultancy firm called Repucon and, since then, we have introduced a whole new structure,” Mr McGuire added.
Going forward, the chamber will continue to work closely with Kerry County Council and Mr McGuire lauded the hugely proactive and can-do approach adopted by the local authority and he thanked new Municipal District Officer, Matt Farrell, for his commitment and
support.
A presentation of a framed montage of photographs, featuring images of the highlights of his two-year term, was presented to Mayor Kelleher as a token of appreciation.
Thanks and appreciation was also extended to businessman Paul Sherry who has stepped down from the position of voluntary chairman of the Killarney St Patrick’s Festival.
Mr McGuire said Paul brought enormous energy, commitment and passion to the role and he was instrumental in making the March 17 celebration in Killarney one of the best in the country.
It was confirmed at the lunch that Jason
Clifford, general manager of the Dunloe Hotel and Gardens, will be the new chairman of the St Patrick’s Festival and it is his intention to build on the solid foundation that Paul has established.
A tribute was also paid at the lunch to the late Paul Coghlan, the former senator, councillor and two-time Mayor of Killarney, who passed away recently.
Johnny McGuire said Paul was a former president and a long-standing member of the chamber and he devoted his life to the development of the community and the town of Killarney.
“His passing was a sad occasion for us all,” he said.

Bring the outdoors indoors this summer
With the arrival of summer, it's time to infuse our living spaces with a refreshing and vibrant ambiance that captures the essence of the season.
Summer interior design trends for 2023 celebrate nature, sustainability, and a relaxed, breezy atmosphere. Whether you're looking to revamp your entire home or simply add a touch of summer to your existing decor, these trends will inspire you to create a space that radiates warmth, tranquillity, and style.
NATURAL ELEMENTS
Bringing the outdoors inside is a key focus of summer interior design trends in 2023. Embrace natural materials like rattan, jute, bamboo, and wicker furniture to create an organic and eco-friendly vibe. Incorporate indoor plants and fresh flowers to add pops of greenery and introduce a sense of vitality to your space. Natural textures, such as stone, marble, and wood, can be used in furniture, flooring, or decorative accents to create a harmonious and earthy atmosphere.
PASTEL PALETTES
Soft, soothing pastel colors are a staple of summer interior design trends this year. Think of shades like mint green, blush pink, baby blue, and pale lavender. These colors evoke a sense of tranquility and serenity, perfect for creating a calming oasis in your home. Incorporate pastel hues in your upholstery, throw pillows, curtains, and artwork for a touch of whimsy and elegance.
COASTAL VIBES
The coastal aesthetic never goes out of style, especially during the summer months. Embrace the breezy, relaxed ambiance of the seaside by incorporating coastal elements into your design. Think light and airy fabrics, nautical stripes, seashell and driftwood accents, and ocean-inspired artwork. A colour palette of blues and whites can instantly transport you to a beachside retreat.
SUSTAINABLE AND ETHICAL DESIGN
Sustainability and ethical practices continue to gain importance in the world of interior design. In 2023, eco-friendly materials, such as reclaimed wood and recycled textiles, are in high demand. Seek out furniture and decor items that are produced using sustainable practices and support fair trade. Incorporating these elements not only adds a unique touch to your space but also contributes to a better and greener planet.
INDOOR-OUTDOOR LIVING
Make the most of the sunny weather by seamlessly blending your indoor and outdoor spaces. In 2023, the trend of creating versatile outdoor living areas that seamlessly transition into your indoor space is at its peak. Opt for large sliding glass doors, outdoor kitchens,
and comfortable seating arrangements that encourage you to spend more time outdoors. Incorporate elements like natural stone flooring, weather-resistant furniture, and cozy outdoor rugs to create a seamless connection between your interior and exterior spaces.

BATH TUB Finding the right
Choosing the right bath can be a daunting task, especially with so many different styles, sizes, and materials to choose from.
Your bath is one of the most important features in your bathroom, and it's essential to make the right choice to ensure comfort and relaxation. In this blog post, we'll explore some key considerations to help you choose the right bath for you.
SIZE
The size of your bath is one of the most crucial considerations. Before making any purchases, measure the available space in your bathroom to determine the maximum size of the bath that you can accommodate. Consider the size and weight of the person or people who will
be using the bath to ensure that it provides enough space for a comfortable soak. If you have a smaller bathroom, a compact may be a better option, while a freestanding bath is a good choice for larger bathrooms.
STYLE
Baths come in a range of styles, from traditional roll-top and slipper baths to contemporary freestanding and builtin models. Consider the overall style of your bathroom and choose a bath that complements it. If you're planning a bathroom renovation, you may want to choose a bath first and design the rest of the space around it. If you're looking for a luxurious spa-like experience, a freestanding bath with a modern design and smooth curves can be a great option.
FEATURES
Baths come with a range of features, including built-in jets, whirlpool systems, and heated surfaces. If you're looking for a luxurious spa-like experience, consider a bath with built-in jets or a whirlpool

system. If you're concerned about staying warm during long soaks, a bath with a heated surface can be a good option. Also, consider the placement of the taps and the type of tapware that will best complement your chosen bath.
BUDGET
Your budget is an essential consideration when choosing a bath. Baths can range from affordable to high-end, and it's essential to set a budget before you start shopping. While you may be tempted to opt for a cheaper option, it's important to remember that your bath is an investment, and you want it to last for many years. Consider the long-term value of each bath and choose the best option within your budget.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Choosing the right bath is an important decision that requires careful consideration of various factors. Consider the size, style, features, and budget to choose a bath that meets your needs and provides

INSPIRED BY DANNY CASEYGardai Body Cams Approved
Minister for Justice Helen McEntee this week received Cabinet approval to progress the Garda Siochana (Recording Devices) Bill 2022 in the Oireachtas.
A procurement process to acquire body-worn cameras for Gardai is to begin within weeks. The cameras being procured will have controversial facial recognition software capabili-
ties, pending this technology being legislated for separately and will only be allowed to be used in serious crime investigations.
Concerns have been raised by many political figures including the Green Party around the use of the technology but others such as Simon Harris have come out and backed the bill saying “it was unacceptable that the only people at a protest who did not have
Musk VS Zucker in Cage Fight
Elon Musk posted a message on his social media platform Twitter this week that he was "up for a cage fight" with Mark Zuckerberg.
Zuckerberg, the boss of Facebook and Instagram parent company Meta, then posted a screenshot of Mr Musk's tweet with the caption "send me location". Musk followed up with another reply "Vegas Octagon."
Could the two billionaires really faceoff in the octagon? Musk is clearly the bigger of the pair and would have a significant reach but Zuckerberg is at least 10 years younger and has already been fight training very publicly.
No one knows for sure, but if it did happen it could have the potential to break all PPV records for a combat sports fight, a $396m record currently held by Floyd Mayweather & Conor McGregor for their boxing bout back in 2017.
Elon Musk latter tweeted: "I have this great move that I call 'The Walrus', where I just lie on top of my opponent & do nothing, perhaps suggesting his challenge to Mr Zuckerberg may notbe completly serious but these call-outs have known to grow legs and with Facebook & Twitter stocks not performing too well at the minute, the two CEO's might see this as an opportunity to make some quick cash.
recording equipment were Gardai.” Cabinet approved the measures on Tuesday, with Ms McEntee stating that she was “really pleased that we’ve reached an agreement” with the minister making it clear that the facial technology will only be used in the most severe of instances such as, child sexual abuse, child abduction cases, murder cases and serious sexual assault
Fassbender star in new movie
Local star Michael Fassbender returns in action mode for a new Netflix film directed by the legendary David Fincher. In "The Killer," Fassbender plays an assassin who grapples with a growing conscience while his clients demand his lethal skills.
The talented Tilda Swinton also joins the cast. Adapted from Alexis Nolent's gripping graphic novel series, the screenplay was expertly crafted by Andrew Kevin Walker, known for his work on "Seven." Having wrapped up production in late February, "The Killer" is set to premiere on Netflix on November 10th. Don't miss Fassbender's captivating performance, as he teams up with Fincher to deliver an unforgettable thriller.
New media regulator can impose large fines
Social media platforms will soon have legal obligations to ensure their platforms are safer and failure to implement the code of practice will result in fines under Irish and EU law, the new media regulator has announced.
Coimisiún na Meán has outlined its plans to improve online safety and to regulate and support the online media sector. The commission will implement a legally binding safety code which will cover is-
sues such as the sharing of harmful video content online and increasing child safety protections.
Speaking to media this week the new Online Safety Commissioner Niamh Hodnett outlined repercussions for media companies that do not take action to reduce online harms. Punishments will include fines up to €20m or 10pc of relevant turnover under the online safety code, whichever is the greater, or 6pc of worldwide turnover if being prosecuted under the new EU Digital Services Act.
Hope for the Titanic Sub rescue dwindles
The Titanic, an ill-fated luxury liner that met its tragic demise in 1912, has captured the imagination of the world for well over a century.
Fruit & Veg shortages likely
This week, Dr Richard Hackett, a consultant with the agriculture and food development agency - Teagas, warned that there could be a shortage of home-grown fruit and vegetables for the rest of the year.
“We'd a very dry February starting off, then we had a very wet March and April, and then we got very dry…Overall our rainfall is probably normal enough, but it's coming in bursts... and crops don't really like that”
Speaking on Newstalk during the week
Dr. Hackett explained how weather
was not the factor that will likely lead to less Fruit and Veg on the supermarket shelves. Other issues at play include labour shortages in countries such as Spain, as well as on-going supply chain disruptions with the UK due to Brexit.
However, a new tragedy has developed in recent days. The disappearance of the Titanic submersible, a vessel used to explore the depths of the ocean, has left investigators very worries that the vessel and the five people onboard may never be recovered.
The Titan submersible, operated by OceanGate Expeditions was deisgned to explore the wreckage of the sunken SS Titanic off the coast of Newfoundland. A submersible vessel no bigger than a small van, Titan was designed to carry up to five people to a depth of 4,000 meters (13,120 feet). The wreckage of the cruise ship Titanic sits on the ocean floor about 3,800 meters (12,500 feet) below the surface.
On a routine dive to the site of the Titanic wreckage, the submersible descended into the depths, only to lose contact
Man Utd's Antony accused of domestic abuse
Less than a year after the Maison Greenwood allegations, Manchester United are dealing with new domestic abuse allegations within their squad, this time relating to the Brazilan Winger Antony.
Antony signed for Man United last year for a fee that was upwards of €95mil-
lion but now finds himself facing serious allegations of abuse by his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin.
In an explosive interview with Brazilian Media Agency Record News this week Cavallin spoke about what she's alleging the Brazil international has done to her.
She accuses him of threatening her and
saying: "'If you don't stay with me, you won't stay with anyone else. Everything will end here for you, we will die together, me, you and our son." And went on to say "He broke my suitcase and kept my passport. He broke my cell phone, he wouldn't let me go out”.
Manchester United are yet to make an official statement on the matter.
with the surface team. At the time of our magazine going to print on Thursday evening the vessel crew were expected to run out of it's oxygen supply and despite extensive search efforts by multiple organisations, no trace of the ROV had yet been found.
Some speculate that the vessel may have encountered a severe technical malfunction, others suggest that the submersible fell victim to unpredictable undersea conditions, such as strong currents or unseen underwater obstacles. The search for answers continues, not only to unravel the fate of the submersible but also to enhance safety protocols and advance the field of underwater exploration. The disappearance of the Titanic submersible has added another layer of intrigue to the enduring story of the ill-fated ship. As investigators explore various hypotheses and continue the search for the missing vessel, the incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of the deep sea and the ongoing quest to unlock its secrets.
Hat trick of international rally wins for O’Sullivan
Noel O’Sullivan has become the first Kerry co-driver to win the Donegal International Rally.
Ireland’s only three-day event is considered the Holy Grail of Irish rallying and a win in the northwest is akin to an All-Ireland football medal in this part of the world.
Muckross man O’Sullivan and his driver Callum Devine have won three of the biggest Irish rallies on the trot.
Their winning streak started on the Circuit of Ireland Rally over the Easter weekend, and this was quickly followed by a second Rally of the Lakes win in late April. Adding the Donegal title to their list of impressive wins this season puts them in the driving seat to win the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship.
Last weekend’s result more than made up for the disappointment of their 2022 attempt at the Donegal Rally.
They crashed out on Sunday morning of the 2022 event while in a battle for the event lead.
“It is great to get the job done especially after the way last year ended for us, It felt a bit like unfinished business,” said O’Sullivan.
“It’s feels very special to join the list of winners of this iconic rally.”
Their main title rivals, Josh Moffett and Andy Hayes crashed out of the Donegal event on Sunday meaning that the Kerry/ Derry pairing now has a 15-point advantage at the head of the table with just the Cork ‘20’ and the Ulster International left to run.

Rising costs of new builds
A recently published report by the Society of Chartered Surveyor Ireland (SCSI) has found that almost two thirds of Irish construction firms are currently operating at full capacity.
It is expected that over half the business in the sector expect their workload to increase in the next 12 months.
However significant rising costs and shortages in the supply of labour are putting great pressure on the affordability and viability of some construction projects.
Firms also reported that development finance is becoming more difficult to source because of the increases in interest rates by the European Central Bank over the past 11 months.
SCSI President Enda McGuane commented “ According to our members, the hike in interest rates has become a key reason why access to finance is be-
coming increasingly difficult to acquire.
Viabilty of projects has been ranked as the number one reason causing difficulty in raising development finance, followed by access to bank finance / credit and access to equity / venture capital.”
"The higher interest rates are affecting exit yields and thus making more projects unviable. When you combine these pressures with high inflation rates as well as more localised challenges around the availability of skilled labour and operating capacity, the pressure on feasibility and ultimately the viability of some projects is
Despite the challenges, 7 out of every 10 chartered surveyors believe the overall
outlook for the construction sector is positive.

What you need to know about marine insurance
What does Marine Insurance typically cover?
Marine insurance in Ireland typically covers a range of risks associated with maritime activities and transportation. While specific policy terms and coverage may vary among insurance providers, here are some common areas that marine insurance in Ireland typically covers:
Hull and Machinery: This coverage protects the vessel itself against physical damage or loss caused by perils such as collisions, accidents, or natural disasters.
Protection and Indemnity (P&I): P&I insurance provides liability coverage for the shipowner and operator. It typically covers third-party liabilities, such as bodily injury or property damage
caused by the insured vessel, pollution liabilities, crew liabilities, wreck removal costs, and legal defence expenses.
Cargo Insurance:
This type of insurance covers goods or cargo being transported by sea, providing protection against risks like loss, damage, theft, or non-delivery. It may be taken out by the cargo owner, importer, exporter, or the carrier.
Freight Insurance:
Freight insurance covers the loss of anticipated income or freight charges due to damage or loss of cargo during transit. It protects the interests of the shipper or carrier.
Marine Liability:
Marine liability insurance covers liabilities arising from marine-related activities, such as ship repair, shipbuilding, chartering, stevedoring, or other maritime services.
War Risks:
Given the global nature of maritime trade, marine insurance policies may include coverage for risks associated with war, strikes, civil unrest, piracy, and acts of terrorism.
It’s important to note that the specific coverage and policy terms can vary between insurance providers, and it’s advisable to consult with an Insurance professional and to review individual policy documents for precise details regarding coverage

Clonkeen, Killarney.29/02/1924 - 23/06/2022
As we fondly remember Kathy on her first anniversary, her family wishes to extend a deep appreciation and sincere thanks for the many expressions of sympathy and gestures of kindness shown to us following our sad loss.
Thanks to everyone who called to the house, attended the funeral mass and burial, and all those who provided emotional and practical support during our time of bereavement. To those who travelled long distances to be with us, telephoned, sent mass and enrolment cards, messages of sympathy, floral tributes and online condolences, we are truly grateful.
Our heartfelt thanks to Fr. Padraig Kennelly, who celebrated Kathy’s funeral mass, for his kind words of comfort and the practical and spiritual guidance he provided to our family in our time of sorrow. We would like to express our gratitude to all who participated in the funeral mass, the sacristan, minister of the eucharist, those who did the readings, prayers of the faithful, the reflection, brought the gifts to the altar, the singers and musicians.
Special thanks to the staff at Park Medical Practice, especially Dr. Fidelma Cronin, Sheahan’s Pharmacy Killarney, attending public health, community and palliative care nurses, physio and occupational therapists, health care support assistant Colette, for the respect, care and support provided to Kathy over the years, and during her final days. A huge thank you to Rita for the kindness, patience and sensitivity you showed our mom over the past six years. We know she deeply appreciated the care you provided. You made it possible for her to remain in her home until the end of her life, for that we are truly thankful.
For the efficient, dignified and extremely sensitive approach to every request, we would like to recognise the great service and support offered by Danny at Quills Funeral Directors. DENNEHY In loving memory of Neil (Con) Dennehy Beloved husband, father and brother Castleknock, Dublin, and late of Kilbrean, Killarney. The family thank you for sharing their sorrow Your kindness is deeply appreciated and will always be remembered.
You’ll never be the sun turning in the sky
And you won’t be the moon above us on a moonlit night
And you won’t be the stars in heaven
Although they burn so bright
But even on the deepest ocean
You will be the light
You may not always shine
As you go barefoot over stone
You might be so long together
Or you might walk alone
And you won’t find that love comes easy
But that love is always right
So even when the dark clouds gather
You will be the light
And if you lose the part inside
When loves turns round on you
Leaving the past behind
Is knowing you’ll do like you always do
Holding you blind, keeping you true
You’ll never be the sun turning in the sky
And you won’t be the moon above us on a moonlit night
And you won’t be the stars in heaven
Although they burn so bright But even on the deepest ocean
You will be the light.
Anniversary Mass is on Sunday 25th June at 11.00am in the Church of the Resurrection, Killarney.

7TH ANNIVERSARY O’SHEA
In loving Memory of Paddy “Bomber” O’Shea O’Sullivan’s Place, Killarney
Who passed away on 25th June 2016.
He never looked for praise
He was never one to boast
He went on quietly working
For those he loved the most.
His dreams were seldom spoken
His wants were very few
And most of the time his worries
Would go unspoken, too.
He was there...a firm foundation
Through all our storms of life
A sturdy hand to hold onto
In times of stress and strife.
A true friend we could turn to
When times were good or bad
One of our greatest blessings was the man that we called Dad.
Truly Loved & missed every day, Anne, Padraig, John, Colm, Aidan, Áine, Sinéad, Karl, Fiona, Marie, Siobhán, Catherine and your adoring grand-children.

O’Connor insists Kerry are no one-man band
Star forward David Clifford was exceptional yet again as Kerry defeated Louth on Sunday but his manager Jack O’Connor says his side’s satisfying victory was very much a team effort.
Clifford scored 2-4 in Portlaoise as Kerry ran out 5-24 to 0-11 winners but speaking post-match, O’Connor was quick to praise several other players who made valuable contributions.
“The beauty of today was we got a lot of fellas chipping in,” the veteran bainisteoir said. “Tony [Brosnan] was very lively. Diarmuid O’Connor had a huge first half. Seánie O’Shea was very good. Paudie [Clifford] was very good. We got scores from different areas and that always takes the heat off David.
“You know, the narrative is out there that
we’re a one-man band but we think we have threats from a lot of areas.”
The Dromid native was especially pleased with the manner in which his side dealt with Louth’s defensive set-up, a set-up which caused problems for Cork and Mayo in the previous rounds.
“Louth will be disappointed with the way they performed but we felt we were going well in training during the week. We felt we were getting more and more comfortable against those packed defences and that’s the key to football nowadays. You have to be expecting that teams will pack the defence and
you have to keep the ball moving and just have width and depth in your attack. And I thought we did that well.
“Diarmuid O’Connor kicked three points from outside the cover and that always helps because it draws them out.”
Kerry supporters left O’Moore Park in agreement that they had just seen the team’s best performance of the year to date. O’Connor was of the same mind.
“Ah it [was], yeah. Look, we have been patchy and we know there are bigger tests ahead, but it has to be good for the confidence to put together a performance like that.”
TOP SPOT
Kerry would have taken a spot in the preliminary quarter-finals before throw-in but they actually ended up topping their group thanks in part to Mayo’s threepoint defeat to Cork. The results on the final day mean that the defending champions now have a week off before

the All-Ireland quarter-finals on July 1/2 while Mayo, Cork and the second- and third-place teams from the other pools are back at it, fighting for their lives, this coming weekend. O’Connor told reporters that he is “delighted” with the way things turned out.
“Two weeks is the ideal amount of time between games. It just gives you time to recover and build back up again, because a week can be just a bit dodgy at times if you have niggles or whatever.
“[So, I’m] delighted with that but I always thought Cork had a good chance in that game. Cork were very good against us and Kevin Walsh would know those Mayo fellas well, so it wasn’t a huge surprise. [It’s a] great bonus for us to finish top of the group.”
The week off is welcome news for Gavin White and Paul Geaney, both of whom sat out the Louth match due to injury.
“Gavin White just picked up a minor calf strain during the week and Paul possibly could have played if a gun was put to his head,” O’Connor explained. “It was just a niggle in his hamstring so we didn’t chance it. We’re hoping that the two weeks will give everybody a chance to recover.”
O’Connor also confirmed that Killian Spillane (ankle ligament) is back running and making good progress, although he is “a bit behind” White and Geaney in his race to be fit for Croke Park.
had a lot of fellas chipping in. We think we have threats from a lot of areas.
JACK O'CONNOR
OPINION
Our sports editor ADAM MOYNIHAN shares his thoughts on the week's burning issues
Kingdom deliver in emphatic fashion
It’s funny, really. After months of jostling for position, we are precisely where we thought we’d be.
Twelve teams left. Kerry, Dublin, Galway, Mayo, Derry, Armagh and Tyrone all in contention. Arguably the most open championship in over a decade. In short, exactly what we all expected at the start of the season.
Galway and Mayo slipping up on the last day of the group stage is the only real spanner in the works to date. Now the great Connacht rivals, both of whom have promised so much at various points of the campaign, will face one another in a straight shootout for a quarter-final berth.
It should be a cracker in Salthill and you would have to be very wary of whoever emerges from that one.
LUXURY
After their huge 28-point win over Louth, Kerry now have the luxury of sitting back this weekend and watching the preliminary quarters unfold. When the draw takes place on Monday morning, they know they can be paired with any of the victors apart from their Group 1 opponents Mayo and Cork.
Like every Kerry man, woman and child,
I left Portlaoise on Sunday a lot happier than when I arrived. The team had been underperforming all season, really. Even when they won, you never really got the sense that they were firing on all cylinders.
With that in mind and with Mickey Harte bringing a dogged Louth team to O’Moore Park on the back of a near miss against Mayo, Kerry folk had good reason to be a little nervous.
Within minutes of the throw-in, those nerves melted away like ice cream under the hot midlands sun. Despite being faced with a packed defence, Kerry found gaps at will. They played with intensity and focus, moving the ball as quickly as possible and dragging their markers all over the place with hard, deliberate running. This led to scoring opportunity after scoring opportunity and, with the wind at their backs, they tagged on the points with ease. Even when they couldn’t find a path to goal, they were able to shoot over the cover from distance with Diarmuid O’Connor and David Clifford doing the damage.
SPECIAL PRAISE
O’Connor deserves special praise be-
cause questions have been asked (in these pages and others) about his ability to influence games. He was brilliant against Louth, winning primary possession and driving forward with intent. He kicked three points in total. In fairness, he was quite good against Cork as well and if he can maintain this kind of form in Croke Park he will be a serious asset. Clifford was actually quiet in the first quarter but then he decided it was time to entertain the masses. He kicked two beautiful points from distance – one from five metres inside the 45-metre line, the other from five metres outside – within a minute. The latter was just outrageous, like Stephen Curry pulling up five feet outside the arc and draining a three. Whatever your allegiances, whether you’re a fan or a journalist or a teammate or an opponent, what can you do but shake your head and smile? Clifford is executing shots that 99% of players wouldn’t attempt at training for fear of making a fool of themselves in front of the lads.
OFF THE PITCH
He’s changing the game both on and off the pitch. After kicking 2-4 and with the tie over as a contest, he was taken off
with 20 minutes to go. Children quickly flocked to the area of the stand around Kerry’s subs, eager to get an autograph or a selfie. Gardaí stepped in to escort him to the dressing room for fear that things could get dangerous. This was all while the game was still going on. In a way, these scenes are great. He’s a superstar and the kids want to meet him. After the match, the same kids rushed the pitch and gathered around Seánie O’Shea and Kerry’s other stars. It has become commonplace and the players don’t really seem to mind.
I do think that we need to draw a line somewhere, though. It’s not exactly professional to allow this to happen after every single match and I have no doubt that, depending on how things have gone for them on the day, some lads would rather get out of there as soon as possible.
Maybe it would be an idea to encourage the practice at the start of the season, during the league, and then call a halt to it for the championship? Just an idea. I know there are bigger issues to tackle in the GAA.
All in all, it was a real team effort by Kerry. I was impressed by Graham O’Sullivan (who was involved in three of Kerry’s goals), Jason Foley, Paudie Clifford, Dara Moynihan, and O’Shea, who looks rejuvenated in recent weeks.
Louth are not a top 10 side and they looked a little overawed by the occasion but full credit to Jack O’Connor and his squad. They needed a strong display to restore confidence and they delivered in emphatic fashion.

Adam Moynihan reports from O’Moore Park, Portlaoise
Portlaoise handed them first place with plenty to spare.
All-Ireland champions Kerry secured a record-breaking victory over Louth on Sunday to unexpectedly top their group and advance directly to the All-Ireland quarter-finals on July 1/2. The Kingdom travelled to the midlands knowing that they needed a result of some kind to avoid elimination. If they won, a second-place finish behind group leaders Mayo, and a spot in the preliminary quarter-finals, appeared to be the most likely outcome. However, Mayo’s shock defeat to Cork in the other match, coupled with Kerry’s impressive win, left all three of those teams level on four points by the close of play. With head-to-head results now thrown out the window, the final standings were decided by points difference and Kerry’s huge score in
Almost incredibly, Cork’s three-point win in Limerick saw them overtake Mayo too, consigning Kevin McStay’s All-Ireland contenders to an away preliminary quarter-final against Connacht rivals Galway. Cork will be at home Roscommon on Saturday with Donegal hosting Tyrone and Kildare taking on Monaghan.
Kerry can now enjoy a weekend off. The nature of their performance on Sunday should see them enter their last eight tie in Croke Park with a pep in their step.
ENERGY
A high-energy start laid the foundations for Jack O’Connor’s men at a sunny O’Moore Park and they took complete control between the 14th and 30th minutes. Cheered on by jubilant travelling fans, Kerry scored 2-10 with-
out reply during this period to open up an unassailable 18-point lead. The goals came via David Clifford and Mike Breen with two long-range beauties by Clifford and some well-executed shots by the excellent Diarmuid O’Connor the pick of the points.
Louth were dropping bodies deep but Kerry’s excellent ball movement and hard running made mince meat of their defensive block. Some errant shooting at the other end certainly didn’t help the Wee County’s cause.
Paudie Clifford, David Clifford (penalty) and Seánie O’Shea added three more goals in the second half as the Munster champions ran out 28-point winners – the biggest ever winning margin in an All-Ireland series fixture. Next on the agenda is a trip to our nation’s capital. If their showing against Louth is anything to go by, Kerry won’t be relinquishing their title without a fight.

ALL-IRELAND SFC GROUP 1 Kerry 5-24 | Louth 0-11 GOAL: Mike Breen shoots to score the second of Kerry's five goals against Louth. Finally, it’s time for the real business
Former Kerry footballer Eamonn Fitzgerald previews this weekend’s All-Ireland preliminary quarter-finals
The real championship begins this weekend with preliminary quarter-finals. The pool games are over, thank God. From now until All-Ireland final day on July 30 it is straight knockout.
Table-toppers Dublin, Kerry, Armagh
and Derry will all enjoy this weekend off. Kerry got a real lifeline when Cork surprised the high-flying Mayo, allowing The Kingdom to top their group. This is a Godsend for the Kerry management and players. With the games com-
ing thick and fast, the danger of injury increases and particularly with the exceptionally, hot dry weather (even if the thunderstorms have eased the going). Kerry will not have a home game here in the Fitzgerald Stadium but await one of the winners of this weekend’s knockout games. Whatever happens, they won’t be playing either of the teams they have already encountered in the championship in the last eight.
PREDICTIONS
Galway v Mayo (Sunday 3pm) is the obvious choice for match of the weekend. Pádraic Joyce was very disappointed to lose last year’s final to Kerry, particularly with Shane Walsh in such scoring form. Mayo and Galway were flying early on but some weaknesses emerged in recent weeks.
Despite the superb performance by Mayo when they humiliated Kerry in the Park, my preference is Galway. Even McStay will not end the Mayo famine stretching back to the 1950s.
Donegal v Tyrone (Saturday 7pm) is also a local derby, and the Ulster teams don’t even need a local derby to ratchet up the intensity.
Tyrone are a better team in my opinion. Donegal did beat Kerry in the opening round of the league, but they have had terrible difficulties off the field. The county board are under scrutiny from Croke Park. Their manager resigned for personal reasons. They are poor scorers. Kerry would defeat a low scoring Donegal side, the originators of the blanket defence which is strangling the game of modern football. Home venue won’t be enough for Donegal. Kerry will not like to see Tyrone advancing. Meanwhile, Cork have been playing so well. They have been hammered by Kerry in recent years yet almost beat us recently.
I think the change of manager has benefitted Cork. John Cleary was a fine forward in his heyday and did great work with the Cork U20s for a number of years, but he was kept out of the senior job until this year Why? Sin scéal eile. This is not a bad Cork team and they badly want to get out of the shadow of kingpins Kerry. On paper the much-improved Roscommon should win, but I
still give Cork the nod. That game takes place on Saturday at 2pm.
Kildare host Monaghan at 4.45pm on Saturday and this will be where you stick a pin in the list of horses for the Grand National.
Kildare have been consistently inconsistent this season, but still may have too much for a Monaghan team I saw in the Fitzgerald Stadium. They were missing certain players for that game, but their quality was poor.
Kildare are always a gamble but they get shaky vote of confidence from me.
KERRY PREPARE
In the meantime, Kerry will get a much-needed rest and Jack O’Connor has most of his players back fit for action.
Paul Geaney will be fit for Croke Park. Gavin White was rested for the Louth game, giving him more recovery time. The All-Star is a key link man between defence and attack and his natural speed is invaluable.
Mike Breen was out with injury for so long that we tend to forget that he is still on the panel. He started at wing back in the rout of Louth, contributing an early goal. Paul Murphy, the star in the 2014 All-Ireland win, has been rejuvenated and has done well so far this season. Graham O’Sullivan is best-placed as a corner back instead of being at wing back. He is well able to go upfield but, unlike Tom O’Sullivan, he does not neglect the primary duties of a corner back. He closes the door behind him for those upfield linkages. Tom O’Sullivan leaves it open and flings away the key. Jason Foley has the pace to go forward but not at the expense of his primary role of guarding the central defence area.
Midfield is the Achilles heel of this team. I am surprised how little game time is given to Barry Dan O’Sullivan. I still believe the Dingle vet is a better prospect i lár na páirce than Jack Barry. The Kerry forwards revolve around the Clifford brothers and Seánie O’Shea. Strangely enough, the number of frees conceded by defenders inside the 45 has been reduced dramatically, so O’Shea is not the big scorer of previous years. The main scorer is David Clifford. Jack O’Connor can work as he wishes for the next week or so knowing his team should be close to full-strength for their first match in Croker in 2023.
RED HAND: Ruairí Canavan and his Tyrone teammates have a tricky away tie against Donegal on Saturday evening.Kerry ladies pick up impressive win
The Kerry ladies football team got their All-Ireland Senior Football Championship off to a dream start by defeating Leinster champions Dublin in Parnell Park on Saturday.
Goals by Síofra O’Shea and Player of the Match Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh (1-6) were pivotal as the Division 1 winners ran out 2-8 to 1-9 winners. O’Shea and Ní Mhuircheartaigh have now scored 16 goals (eight each) between them in 2023. Niamh Ní Chonchúir and Hannah O’Donoghue also got their names on the scoresheet for the girls in green and gold.
The result leaves Kerry in pole position to secure top spot in the three-team group. Crucially, doing so would set up a home quarter-final against a second-place team from another pool.
Next up in Group 3, Dublin take on Cavan in Breffni Park this Sunday. Whatever the outcome of that match, Kerry will clinch first place with a win at home to Cavan the following weekend. Elsewhere in the senior championship, Galway beat Cork by two goals, Armagh defeated Laois with seven points to spare, and Donegal had a five-point win over Waterford.
PROTEST
Meanwhile, intercounty LGFA and camogie players have announced that they will be playing the remainder of the season “under protest”.
In a statement issued via the GPA, the players claimed that the sports’ governing bodies “do not want to hear our real concerns”.
“Our representative body, the Gaelic Players Association, released the State of Play Report two months ago, which shed light on significant issues within our training and playing environments,”
the statement read.
“The main request has been well-documented; we asked the LGFA, the Camogie Association, and the GAA to engage in discussions with the GPA to develop a charter designed for female players to be implemented in the 2024 season. This charter would establish minimum standards for our collective welfare…
“Despite initial positive indications, the GAA has since declined our proposal. The Camogie Association, however, did request a presentation to be made to their Ard Chomhairle, which took place last week. Regrettably, the LGFA has not deemed it appropriate to respond.
“Their primary rationale is that they prefer to complete the integration process before initiating a charter for female players. Despite the evidence presented, they expect us to patiently endure the treatment of second-class citizens.
“We are no longer willing to wait. It has been over 18 months since integration was declared a priority and voted in by the membership of the three Associations. While the National Governing Bodies claim to be listening, it is evident that they are not truly hearing us. Urgent issues affecting player welfare have been brought to their attention, yet they refuse to even engage collectively to discuss solutions.
“We as players are not receiving the respect we deserve. Therefore, do not expect business as usual in the upcoming weeks and months. “In recent months Cavan's footballers and Kildare's camogie players have shown us what potentially lies in store for all of us if nothing changes. We are not willing to wait for 56 more individual battles to arise.
“We stand here together, unified. And together, we will remain resolute in our pursuit of a better future.”
Paul’s golf classic to honour Connie Brosnan
St Paul’s will be swapping their basketballs for orbs of a smaller version when they host their Golf Classic in Beaufort Golf Club on Saturday, July 15.
With a thriving academy for both boys and girls, adult teams, and, of course, the National League project to finance, the Classic is a vital fundraiser. This year's event will once again be held in memory of the late Connie Brosnan. Connie, who passed away in March 2020, was a stalwart of St Paul’s National League Men’s teams, serving as Team Manager in the nineties and tending to the squad’s every need. Up to his passing, he was the welcoming and friendly Venue Officer at the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre. His affable nature led to many friendships and Connie was a keen and avid golfer, so it is apt and fitting that his memory should be associated with the Classic. He was a key figure as chairman of the Kerry Branch of the Irish Kidney Association and having received a kidney donation himself, he also represented Ireland in golf at the World Transplant Games in
2010 and 2017.
The event itself, which takes place at the picturesque and pristine Beaufort course, is open to teams of four for the great value of €300 per team. A much-needed meal will be provided afterwards. Your support would be greatly welcomed and if golf is not your game you can also sponsor a tee box for the day. Joey Sheahan (087 6248383) and Seán Brosnan (087 2065133) are spearheading the Golf Classic and they can be contacted for more details.
There is also a host of sponsorship options packages available for the upcoming National League season. As well as playing in the golf, you can advertise your business at every home game through high quality signage, or become a game sponsor. Special membership cards, which carry free admittance to all the home games, can also be incorporated into your package.
Club committee members will be liasing with business interests and residents in the town in the coming weeks. Information on the different ways you can help the club can also be found on the St Paul’s Killarney Basketball Facebook page.
Another title fight on the cards for hungry Kingdom Warrior
Kevin Cronin is set for a super middleweight title fight following his latest victory over Santos Madreno in Cork.
Cronin stopped Nicaragua native Madreno in the third round on Saturday night after controlling the fight from start to finish. He will now take on BUI Celtic champion Craig McCarthy for a shot at the super middleweight crown, with fight
details to be confirmed in the coming weeks. The Kerry man would like to see the fight being staged at Killarney’s INEC. The Milltown fighter is hoping to make strides quickly at the super middleweight division. He was unlucky to come up short in his two previous fights at light heavyweight as Limerick’s Jamie Morrissey received favourable decisions on both occasions.

Second place for Leahy and Ireland in 4x100 relay
Killarney sprinter Sarah Leahy helped Ireland to a second-place finish in their 4x100m heat at the European Games in Poland on Wednesday.
Leahy ran the first leg well and Ireland
looked to be heading for first place after Mollie O'Reilly and Joan Healy continued the charge. Unfortunately, an error on the handover between Healy and Adeyemi Talabibut cost them valuable seconds. This allowed Austria to power ahead
as the Irish had to make do with a runners-up spot. Israel came third. Shortly after this race, the men’s 4x100m team secured victory in their heat to leave Ireland leading the way in Division 3 of the European Games with 25 of 37 events completed.

DYLAN CROWLEY TOURNAMENT: The annual Dylan Crowley U11 football tournament took place last Saturday in Gneeveguilla. Always well organised everyone should be extremely proud of their efforts in providing a superb day of sport and fun in Dylans memory. Our U11 Boys played in Division 1 alongside Rathmore, Glenflesk, and Firies. Our opening game was against Firies, and we prevailed in a closely contested game. Up next was a very strong Rathmore side who led from the start and never looked back and topped the group, making it straight to the final. Legion required a result against Glenflesk to progress to the semi-final, and both teams played out a draw. As
a result, both Glenflesk and Legion had to play again in the semifinal This time round in heavy thunder showers, Legion progressed to the final where Rathmore was waiting. Both teams, to their credit, served up a great game of football with Rathmore just shading it in the end and winning the Division 1 Final. Congratulations to Rathmore on a well-deserved victory but our lads can be very pleased with their days work. We would like to extend our gratitude to Gneeveguilla GAA Club for the invite and big kudos to organisers Sean O’ Keeffe and Sean O’Sullivan for a fantastic day. Earlier in the start of a busy week, the U11 Go Games continued in Milltown - Castlemaine with three of our teams played out very entertaining matches. Over twenty-five boys lined out and put in great performances with lots of players from several positions getting in on the scores. Keel is the final destination for the Go Games with the lads taking a short well-earned break afterwards.

Dr Crokes GAA
SHC: Dr. Crokes 0:16 Abbeydorney 4:17. Played in deadly conditions in Austin Stack Park on Saturday evening, our senior hurlers suffered a 13-point defeat in round 1 of the County Championship. Our hurlers stayed true to form and played superbly from the get-go. We were unfortunate to let in 2 first half and 2 second half goals which proved to be the difference in the end. We go again next Friday night, in a must win game against Crotta O’Neills in Austin Stack Park at 7:30pm.
LGFA: U14 Our U14 girls welcomed Firies to Lewis Road on Thursday evening for a challenge match. After a very even first half we entered the break trailing by a point. The girls really turned it on in the second half, playing their best football of the year and winning comfortably in the end on a score line of 7:15 to 5:08. All 21 girls contributed to a fine team performance. Best of luck to the girls who will start their County League campaign on the weekend of 25th June.

Fossa GAA
U13: Fossa u13s played the Division 5 final against Ballymacelligott on Thursday night. The venue was Currow, and the conditions were perfect for football. The boys started brightly with two points from Luke Rennie and Eoin Bennett. Ballymac settled into the game and hit three points without reply to go one ahead. The Fossa boys hit a
purple patch with Eoin Bennett driving through the Ballymac defence and finishing to the net. They added a further 4 points from Eoin Bennett, Luke Clancy (2) and Ross Cronin. The boys were well on top at this stage and the Ballymac goalkeeper had to make some excellent saves, however Ross Cronin was in the right place to convert another goal for Fossa. Ballymac never dropped their heads and hit the cross bar twice. They then replied with a point of their own, but Fossa extended their lead with points from Ben O'Sullivan and Luke Clancy. Ballymac scored a well worked goal and added a point in the last few minutes of the half to leave the half time score 2-8 to 1-5 in Fossa's favour. The tide turned in Fossa's favour in that last quarter with the introduction of fresh legs through Donnacha Coffey, Cian Riordan, Mattheus Golebicki, Marc Sheehan and Aaron Cronin who all contributed hugely. Points from Luke Clancy & Luke Rennie extended the boys lead before Donnacha Vaughan scored a great team goal to settle the nerves. In fairness to Ballymac they never gave up and had some good goal chances themselves, but the Fossa boys held firm with Johnny Myers excelling in the backline. Luke Rennie & Marc Sheehan were superb outlets up front and held the ball up excellently in that last quarter. Ballymac did add two more points, but Fossa closed out the game with two points of their own from Luke Rennie & Eoin Bennett to leave the final score 3-13 to 1-11.
