On the acoustic side, we supplied products to reduce reverberation, attenuate impact and airborne noise for newly built schemes, refurbishment and conversions. I advised clients on the difficulties of successfully attenuating noise. The most common issue presented sound absorption in sport halls and community centres, impact and airborne noise in dwellings.

Commercial connections also advised on the acoustic specification for the scheme. A party wall which complied with both robust details and the housing association requirements was specified.

l Volunteer Work Belfast, N. Ireland l 2011

The scheme

Habitat for Humanity NI

The scheme consist of six 3 storey terraced dwellings built for local residents, with the help of volunteers. From June until September I worked on the construction of the timber framed panels. In September site works began, where I helped with labouring work together with other volunteers. On site I had the opportunity to erect the timber kit, fix the roof trusses and tiles, insulate walls, install the air tightness membrane and plaster board some of the units.
