T
he City continues to rank among the best in the nation and our Fire and Police Departments are no exception. They have continued to be recognized for their positive interaction with the community, innovation and professionalism. When faced with an emergency, the goal is always to get help there as quickly as possible. In 2023, the City of Johns Creek was named one of the Safest Cities in Georgia (Safewise.com) and one of the Safest in the US (MoneyGeek.com), thanks in large part to the Johns Creek Police Department (JCPD) delivering a high level of quality service to more than 85,000 residents and nearly 2,300 businesses in Georgia’s 10th largest city. In June 2023, the Council approved the purchase of property for the construction and replacement of Fire Station #63. In May, the Fire Department added an Air and Light Unit. The custom-built vehicle is equipped with a compressor for filling self-contained breathing apparatus (commonly referred to as an air pack), which each firefighter wears while fighting a fire. The new vehicle holds specialized flood lights to illuminate an incident scene and it can also be set up as a mobile rehabilitation unit for longterm public safety incidents. This state-of-the-art unit is another innovative way the City continues to support health, wellness, and safety both in the community and for our public safety personnel. JCPD continues to provide community policing services and programs, including the popular Woman and Teen Self Defense classes, PACT neighborhood watch and SHIELD business watch, and radKIDS, which teaches self defense techniques.
