ublic art creates a sense of place in a community, it sets a place apart
from neighboring cities and towns. Johns Creek aims to “be the exception” with its exceptional collection of public art. The 130’ mural inside the pedestrian tunnel was the first work completed in the US by international artist Hanif Kureshi. The chair mural found at Newtown Park was created by muralist Kelsey Montague, known for the angel wings mural in Nashville. The Gateway Markers were created by William Massey, whose work can be found at Trilith Studios, the Atlanta Beltline, and other notable spots throughout the state. Our newest addition is the horse sculpture at the Bell Rd./Boles Rd. roundabout by Eric Strauss called “Entwined Strength”. Eric grew up near the very land where this sculpture now sits, and this sculpture represents the strength of community when working together. A joint partnership between Johns Creek and Fulton County is actively working on future art pieces to be created out of the steel that once was Rogers Bridge, the last standing bridge over the Chattahoochee. Keep an eye out for the beautiful pieces that will come from this great project.
The mission of the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra is to enhance the quality of life for Johns Creek and north Metro Atlanta residents through the presentation of high-quality performances, educational and other outreach programs that reflect the cultural diversity of the community.
