Johns Creek Veterans Memorial Walk/ The Wall that Heals 3150 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, GA 30022
The Veterans Memorial Walk located in Newtown Park stands as a living tribute to all the men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces throughout the Twentieth Century to the present day. It remains the second largest privately funded memorial of its kind outside of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Leisure
Each year, thousands visit the five plus acre site that features a grand entrance plaza leading to a hard scape trail bordered by black granite monuments that pay homage to each conflict from WWI to Iraq and Afghanistan with special monuments to honor POWs, Purple Heart Medal recipients, and Women in Service for a total of thirteen. Numerous black granite benches throughout the walk allow visitors to sit and contemplate the sacrifices made by those who served. A large wooden gazebo provides shade and accommodation for larger groups as the nearby fountain adds a sense of serenity.

The recently added ½-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial draws veterans and their loved ones from all over the country. Originally part of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund traveling exhibit, The Wall That Heals, this monument came to Johns Creek in 2017 and was retired shortly thereafter and acquired by the City, given a permanent home at the Memorial Walk. The Wall holds the names of the more than 58,000 service men and women who lost their lives in the Vietnam War. The Johns Creek Veterans Association sponsors the Memorial Walk and it’s upkeep and beautification. A separate 501(C)(3) organization, The Johns Creek Veterans Memorial Walk exists to receive donations to help maintain this important memorial. See the information on our website: www.jcvets.org, to make a donation, order remembrance pavers, or arrange a guided tour. We offer guided tours to interested parties such as school, civic, corporate, and senior groups. These take about 45 minutes to 1 ½ hours to conduct.
