Brædstrup

…the beacon of Bakkelandet Located among the highest peaks in Denmark, Brædstrup offers both delicious food, several nice shops and an historic railway path.

Brædstrup’s main square has recently undergone urban renewal, with special emphasis to the old railway Bryrupbanen, that runs through town. A recreational area with swings, outdoor seating and lots of trees now comprise the town-center, which is already known for its proximity to nature – with The Uncovered Bridge only 10 km away. Step onto the historic railway, which today is one of Denmark’s most beautiful hiking- and biking trails, and feel yourself taken aback, to a time when steam trains were the crown jewel of industrialisation.

At Fru Skov in Brædstrup, you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee while you look for delicious tea, spices, oils, and other specialities or new gourmet utensils. At Water of Life, you’ll find exclusive brands of whiskey, gin, rum, port or champagne, and even attend different tastings. Restaurant Det Gamle Posthus (the old post office)

Did you know?

Hotel Pejsegården

…that Pejsegården is the largest privately owned hotel in Denmark? The family-run hotel has 118 rooms, a rotating bar, a bowling alley, swimming pool, sauna, and they can accommodate up to 1600 restaurant guests at a time!

At Fossile Smykker in Ring near Brædstrup you’ll meet Poul, who (as a hobby!) has converted his home to a museum where he shares prehistoric discoveries gathered through numerous trips to, amongst other places, Asia and Africa. Dinosaurs, pre-historic elephants, and ”frozen lightnings” are just some of the artefacts that you’ll see at Poul’s museum. Lastly, remember your hiking shoes, your swimsuit, and your repair kit, as Brædstrup is a natural starting point for excursions into nature’s own amusement park.
