Vejle Fjord
The northern shores of Vejle Fjord are characterised by beautiful nature and a dramatic coastline. In just one day, you can visit beaches, forests, fossils, castle ruins and a photogenic lighthouse.
Start the day by being blown backwards by the most impressive views. From the characteristic high slopes of Staksrode Forest, you can see all the way to the islands of Æbelø and Funen. Looking the other way into the wild and untamed forest is just as fascinating. But do not worry, there are marked hiking routes of between 2.5 and 5 km which means that you can calmly venture into the wilderness and go hunting for the ruin of the robber’s fortress Stagsevold.
At the foot of the slopes of the forest, you can continue the hunt on Stenhøj Beach - look for fossils and playful porpoises which you can spot along the coast.
Then, continue to Rosenvold. There, you’ll find a lovely beach, a cosy caravan site where you can buy a well- deserved ice cream, a castle and, not least, an intimate marina with a small playground. Further west, you’ll find the beautiful spa hotel Vejle fjord and its beautiful park as well as many historic paths in the park, which were used for promenading in the old days. These take you past the iconic Træskohage Lighthouse, which offers a fantastic view of the fjord and is a favourite motif of nature photographers as well as Instagram enthusiasts.
